Wowwww...I'm a corps member and I've just been posted to TIC, Abeokuta as my PPA. Before I got d location right, I almost died (figuritatively). And I had the wrong idea about what TIC is all about. I was thinking it's an agricultural firm and has to do with poultry hatchery. I'm excited to be here! I just wish the MODs will av d initiative of pushing and putting this kinda thread to the front page. My only ish now is accommodation. I'm in need of accommodation around Panseke, Abeokuta. Anybody?

You are welcome. Abk is a very lively place. I wonder how you located onijanganjangan. Now you know what we do. Cheers

It's good to see someone acknowledge Mr Cardoso's contributions. I have followed the financial guru from the point where I heard he turned down the position of Deputy Governor. Still don't know if that was a smart move but one thing is certain- the gentleman will definitely do greater things in the near future.

On Tuesday 5th March 2013 from 3pm to 4pm there would be a live discussion (a webinar) that would teach participants on learning how to create a billion dollar startup idea, you will connect and ask questions from the following Entrepreneurs who will be there in person.

Entrepreneurs such as

Jeff Hoffman (Jeff Hoffman is an accomplished entrepreneur and innovator in the fields of Internet, e-commerce, and entertainment. He launched his first software company while still a student at Yale University. Mr. Hoffman is a founder and partner in ColorJar, a venture accelerator firm that helps entrepreneurs and small business owners launch and grow new business ventures. Mr. Hoffman is perhaps best known as a founder and CEO in the Priceline.com family of companies, where he led the development and launch of Priceline’s consumer company (Priceline YardSale),

Nolan Bushnell (Nolan Bushnell is an engineer and entrepreneur who founded Atari, Inc., an enormous successful video game and home computer company. In addition to being named one of Newsweek’s “50 Men Who Changed America,” he has founded more than 20 companies integrating science, technology, and entertainment. Mr. Bushnell is also well known for founding Chuck E. Cheese, an American chain of restaurants, and Brainrush Education software)

and Majid Abraham (Magid Abraham is an entrepreneur and expert on market research, consumer modeling, and information solutions. Mr. Abraham has held several executive leadership positions throughout his career, two of which were within companies he founded. He has authored several articles in a variety of academic and industry journals. He attended Lebanon’s high school, followed by Paris’ engineering university, École Polytechnique. He went to the United States to attend the MIT Sloan School of Management, where he graduated with an MBA in 1981 and later a PhD in operations research).

To join the event from 3pm to 4pm on March 5th 2013 where you can pose and ask questions from these gentlemen go to gisttechconnectmena.eventbrite.com

Dear Fellow Entrepreneur,

Our partner, the GIST Initiative, invites all eligible participants from Nigeria to participate in the 2012 GIST Technology Idea (Tech-I) Competition. This competition encourages aspiring entrepreneurs like you to launch and grow a successful business through available funding ($200,000 in awards), mentorship & networking opportunities as well as a chance to participate in the GIST Accelerator, a 6 week immersion program in Silicon Valley.

To help you submit a strong application, Technology Incubation Centre is organizing a workshop where you will receive training from seasoned entrepreneurs by 10am September 14th at University Of Benin and September 17th at Moshood Abiola University Lagos and work on your application, the Go-To-Market Plan which consists of an executive summary and a 2 minute video pitch. For more details on the competition please read to the program announcement.

Below please find the agenda of the workshop:

I dont have her details now but she is an Entrepreneur in Technology Incubation Centre Benin. I am assuming you are in Lagos so why don't you check Technology Incubation Centre in Agege? You definitely would see materials that will guide you there
Business / Re: Zobo Branding Idea by jasonkehi(m): 1:16pm On Jul 17, 2012
That is a nice concept but it isn't exactly unique. There is an Entrepreneur who bottles this Sorrel drink (Sorrel is the english name for Zobo)and she has different flavors in Benin. According to her the market is huge and she can hardly meet demand....that means you also can penetrate the market too. The source of your raw material is local and seems to bloom all season so raw material shouldn't be a problem, there are several flavors in the market and I advise you do mix around till you get a unique but ACCEPTABLE taste. Success might not come at the beginning but if you persevere you will excel. Cheers!

@DAPMAN601 I really don't understand what you mean by if we can help cos you haven't really told me what exactly you would be needing. You are in Ibadan why don't you stop by the Centre and see what is going on and in what ways they can help you. You arent to pay anything so you really have nothing to lose,

@jamace TICs for now are only established in 25 states but more are to open later this year. I know of Osun and Kogi for certain. undecided undecided

Several of the posts on Nairaland have to do with people looking for jobs, investing or not really confident about the kind of businesses they can do with the seemingly meagre amounts of money they have. Of course I am here to sell something but before anyone starts yelling 'scam' as is done in several posts I am not selling any product but I am really here to convince you all to sell you all an idea of starting something of your own, be an entrepreneur, be an employer of labour.

Believe me I am knowledgeable, I am a staff of Technology Incubation Centre a programme set up long long ago by the Federal Government to aid people like you and I into starting our own Company. There are T.I.C.s' in most state of the Federation and I am going to talk about how we can help you acheive your dreams.

In the course of my job I have realized that what really stops people from being Entrepreneurs is that they are afraid of taking risks which is what entrepreneurship is about and that is where TIC comes in AT NO COST TO YOU. The sole aim of a TIC is to nurture technology startups by assisting budding Entrepreneurs in the development of their Company.

At present we have 25 Centres up and running although personally I know of 3 more that just sprung up over the last couple of months but this is an old list.
TIC Lagos is at 4 Balogun Street Agege,
TIC Kano is at Kano farm Centre,
TIC Aba is at Industrial Road,
TIC Calabar is just off Harbour Road,
TIC Nnewi is along Onitsha/Okigwe expressway,
TIC Minna is at David Mark road,
TIC Warri is at Water Board road off Warri/sapele road g.r.a.,
TIC Gusua is at Gain Board Store,
TIC Bauchi is at Area Engineer's office bayin garri,
TIC BIrnin Kebbi is at Bulasa Jega Road,
TIC Sokoto is at GArba Mohammed road Runjin Sambo Layout,
TIC Maiduguri is at Airport road behind pompomari soda ash plant,
TIC Benin is at 188 Sapele road,
TIC Uyo is at Nung Okun Ibesikpo,
TIC Akure is behind Onyearugbulem Market Lagos road, T
TIC Ibadan at at Former Ministry of Works & Housing Eleyele road opposite School of hygiene,
TIC Owerri is at Ministry of Works Okigwe road,
TIC Abeokuta is at KM9 Abk-Lagos Expressway beside total filling station onijanganjangan,
TIC Jos is at Former NALDA office Angwa Dabba Bukuru express way,
TIC YEnegoa is at TIC Complex Imgbi road by Imgbi-Swali roundabout,
TIC Yola is at 36 kashim Ibrahim way,
TIC Enugu is at IMT Industrial Development Centre,
TIC Jalingo is at Former Taraba State Inland revenue service office barde way, TIC Kwara is at Rigachikun zaria road.

these are a few of the addresses I can remember. I advise you to go check out the closest one and what they can offer you as regards growing your business. In the subsequent posts I will talk further on the services we provide and how you can be part of it. I wont talk about the requirements as each Centre has an ideal you must meet and we are all different from each other although we all achieve the same aim. Stop complaining about starting a business today and take charge. Cheers!

Business / Re: Planning To Go To China For Business by jasonkehi(m): 4:46pm On Dec 10, 2008
If you dont know what exactly you are geeting from China I would advise you to browse on the different items they produce. Go to websites such as alibaba.com, made-in-china.com and find out the different prices and their cost and most importantly the address of the manufacturer as that is the city you would be heading to.
Business / Re: Planning To Go To China For Business by jasonkehi(m): 9:51pm On Dec 09, 2008
As Skipo said Solar is a very good buy because it is cheap here and most producers try very hard to please. Once in a while I export Solar products to Naija but be careful about the type of Solar products you buy. I really didnt feel there was much profit to be made then and you definitely wouldnt be making much profit if you are buying Solar products with the 600k. A return ticket would cost you the range of 250k to 300k, (I advise you to use Southern Cina Airline cos it has the cheapest fare), Accomodation will cost like 80-200 dollars a nite (but then that also depends on where U stay).but you can get homes or inns to stay. It is cheap and cosy and you just might be lucky and stay with a family that speak spattering english then you wont have to go do "sign language" when you are with the manufacturer . The language barrier is a huge problem here. You will know what I mean 15mins after landing.
