rvp2017: The federal states in the giant depend on the federal allocation - so there is the race to inflate population everywhere - Lagos real population is about half what is stated officially - and so like GDP - everything in Nigeria is fake - except the petrodollars that nobody knows where it goes.I mean in Angola - after only 10yrs - you can see the transformation the petro-dollars has done - but not for the giant who count Nollywood moves as GDP
If you check the federal budget - the total allocation to 36 states I think is around N450B - which is mere 150B kshs (1.5B dollars) - I think kenya devolve more than that - about 300B kshs (or 3 b dollars).
Nobody pays taxes in Nigeria - so you can imagine what teachers or army people earn?. Nobody pays for electricity or water - so all utilities companies are bankrupt - and country runs on a generator - has no sewer systems or pipe water to speak of - worse than even the poorest countries.
A giant mess. Bill Gates said they are among the few countries with the lowest percentage of tax collection vs GDP around 6%. Nigerians life expectancy my be worse than Somalia... Healthcare in Nigeria is almost dead.. I honestly and deeply cry for the Giant. |

KingGBsky: Socio media and intellectual gatherings is the key. We must start with talking. Telling others about this event. Try our best in including the girls and women. The women believes mostly on the youths than the old people who they know continue to say thesame thing over the years. I will come up with the website or if any of you can get an old website that is already funtional, then we can procure it amd start now. We need to start building it and more importantly getting audience and making more and more people aware of the new revolution. If we start now successfully. Before 2030 the youths all over Africa must have taken over government. This is a dream that desires much hard work and dedication. If we the youths spend so much time online on daily basis then lets use thesame time to develop our collective goal to taken over government all over Africa where the young and intelligent minds can transform Africa into a paradise that would be an envy to the entire world. Lets make Africa a visiting place rather than an exploiting region. My brothers if we can achieve this even the blacks in america and in europe will be proud to call themselves Africans rather than African American. Several countries are already practising this (including the women and youth in daily running of the country). In Kenya it is enshrined in the constitution... There has to be a certain percentage of appointment in favour of youth and women, it also affects govt contracts. Kenya is yet to perfect on this but we can make it better. By sharing more with other countries we can make it much better. Discussion on African free trade was initiated in 2015, we are in 2018 bro. There is time to talk and time to put it into practice.. we can talk later on where to improve but we have to start somewhere. |

shadowhunter15: You seem to very combative and aggressive for no reason. Okay, your country is well ahead of Nigeria. Congrats? When is it reaching first world status that it will start changing the perception of Africa? Please educate us on what your country is doing well so that other African Nations can emulate . You must be on your p's, you are really shitting left right and Centre. |

shadowhunter15: You are very confusing and nasty lol. As for the trade agreement, many here agree that Nigerian's don't really need it for now and that it won't benefit Nigeria. Nigeria needs to improve infrastructure and manufacturing first. It isn't being cowardly, but its an honest truth. Nigeria needs to tap into its huge market first before opening it. I hope Nigeria doesn't sign. Only people who are excited are the ones who need to expand their markets. In africa who do you rank above Nigeria in Manufacturing? Calling Nigeria ahuge market is lack of ambition. The world is becoming a village and we should try to tap into the 7b people like developed nations. |

KingGBsky: This certainly will be something of great importance to the African nations. But it will not yield much if our porduction capability remains low. Africa basically depend on importation, but if we can harness our given resources with our collective knowledge then it will be a thing of pride but for now i see some countries like kotounu importing items from abroad and selling to other african nations. A Free trade zone is better of if it will test our drive for economic stability. We have agriculture which to me is a multi-billion dollar venture. We have wild life, natural resources. We basically have it all. We just need to be educated in these various areas of what we posses as a nation so when the time come for our generation to take over power we would be solely dependent on ourselves as Africans rather than seeking for intervention from the western world. What Africa needs right now is to walk the talk.. since 1960 we ha've just been talking... |

shervydman: Poverty rate mostly deal with "what n what can people buy within a stipulated time in a country.
I once asked a Ghanaian friend of mine who has been to Kenya how much commodities are worth in Kenya n I can remember him telling me that local beer is ksh200 n a bottle of coke is about ksh50 or so in Kenya.
Local beer in Nigeria is also 200naira in Nigeria n a bottle of coke is 90naira.... what I'm driving at is that 1ksh=3.6naira, in that case... naira's purchasing power is higher than ksh despite d fact that ksh is 3X or almost 4X higher than d naira.
Poverty rate is when u spend less than $3 a day.... with this analogy, what a Kenyan may get for $5 in kenya, a Nigerian may get it for $2 in Nigeria which will still be accounted as "below poverty line". I'm not saying there's no poverty in Nigeria but the definition of "poverty line" is contradictory to every country in accordance with their currency's purchasing power (real value of a currency).
One of d reason I can't stop laughing when u guys say ur budget is nearly as much as Nigeria's. Abottle of soda in Kenya cost 30 shillings but depends where you buy it from in some areas you will buy the same at 300 shillings we say put your mouth where your pocket is. As for the Beer, the recomended selling price is 130 shillings but you may find the same at 550 shillings.. FYI Beer and Cigarettes are very highly taxed to discourage consumption... |
