It's a Nigerian mentality. Independence. It's necessary as it will make one grow up and be respected. That's why no matter how wealthy I become, I won't subscribe to building mansions because at the end of it all, na cobwebs go full am. Build apartments. U can even give it out to Ur children to live in with their families. Mansions are good for young families having kids but sadly most can't afford it |

Mindlog: You started out your "counselling" with allocating the cause to the wife as if a man do not have the capacity to be dysfunctional on his own!.
Fight for a marriage with an addict who have no desire to change, Uncle you seem to live in an alternate universe.
Go to rehabilitation facilities.....many men, don't get visitations from their wives and even their own birth families, it shows they are tired of his shenanigans. Apologies, I didn't get the msg well. I initially thought the man had his complaints. I just found out it's an addiction problem |

Greatmind653: there's nothing he's complaining. Rather his chosen lifestyle is what is killing the love and affection here. Apologies I misread the issue. I thought he had his complaints. You will need to pick urself up again and maybe seek the help of elders who can sit both of you down. There is nothing prayer too can do. Not just when things go south but even when things are fine. |

If it is an addiction that started in the marriage then first learn to check what you have been doing that he complains of and after you can then face him. Issues creep into marriages when there are two masters in the boat. You just need to submit and then pray to God. On the addiction, talk to him, invite older and experienced friends of the family. If you want your marriage to come back, fight for it and don't let events dictate. |

Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Help! My Marriage Of Three Months About To Collapse. by Jayboi(m): 4:04am On Dec 14, 2023 |
Skillsmaster: Good day nairalanders. Please come to my rescue. I will be brief as possible. Please ignore any grammatical or spelling error. I lost my job (teaching job) two months to my wedding. About 10-15 of us lost our job in this same school, because of the economy of the country. I couldn't get any job after then, so I decided that I will postpone my wedding because of this but everyone except my younger brother kicked against it including my wife. I continued with the wedding plan believing that everything will fall in place soon. This is three months after my wedding, still no job. My wife has tried a lot, she has a shop and she has been very helpful all these while and I use to appreciate her for that. But of recent she started behaving somehow, which shows that she is tired of the situation and I am also tired of the situation. My wife told me that she can no longer continue like this. I was surprised because this is the same woman that was so angry when I told her about my plan to postpone the wedding. To be honest with you people, she has tried, I must commend her. On my own side, I have searched for job to no avail, both teaching and non teaching. I reside in Abuja, I and one of my friends have trekked on many occasions submitting my own CV. Yet no call for interview. I am a mathematics teacher, before my marriage, I can't submit my CV in three to four schools without getting any invite for interview from two or all of them. But it is the opposite now. I tried to get capital to even start a poultry farm because I am also good at that, but I couldn't get any. My wife is already "threatening the marriage" asking me to bring money which she knows that I don't have. She told me that she regrets this marriage and just saying all sort of things. She knows that I am not lazy. Even to get labourer work on site is not easy. I will stop here.
I am sorry for bothering you with this long write up. You can say anything you want to say but I will appreciate it if you can help out with a job. I want to have my home back. Thank you.
Note: I studied engineering. I worked as a site engineer for like two years before going into teaching. So sorry about Ur situation. That's what pressure brings. Women are pressured into marriage because of their age. Infact, men are more sensible when it comes to settling down. That's why majority of women marry wrong. Most schools are going on Xmas break now cos they have been on session for almost three months. Increase Ur applications this time again. Resend Ur CVS to those u already have contacted. Some teachers will change jobs, some will quit for other desired jobs, some will japa. Just apply. Also try home lessons and all these online classes. Don't give up. As a maths teacher, u shud be hot cake o |

Samantha124: They won't tell the truth... They're just talking about hustling this and hustling that as if they won't be having sex with their wives if they were hustling in Nigeria.
Even a hustler needs some time to rest and recoup every now and then... Especially men because they're sexual beings and they would use sex to unwind after a long day at work. As in these guys de enter club, drink beer etc but that sex part is what I don't get. They even have time for freebies because even tho they hustle they still have time to relax and unwind. |

Onyiiobi7735: There's no magic formula there and never will be.Only responsible, self disciplined and self controlled men out there in the diaspora will focus on their hustle and not bother much on satisfaction of sexual urges. They won't allow those urges control them and lead them to adultery, because they have a target to meet, which is financial security for life. Such men will wait to satisfy their urges only when they return to their wives . All men cannot be sexually loose dogs with no self control. If this is how they do, then big thumbs up. Because it's not easy o |

Good day everyone. I have been wondering how married men in diaspora with their wives/family in Nigeria cope when they develop sexual urges. I know women can still try and hold body o but men!
For instance, I know up to ten married men staying in the UAE/Qatar with their families here in Nigeria. Infact they visit just once in a year and make sure their families/wives get the best form of comfort. After, they are off again for months.
I don't want to believe they just remain celebate throughout. Or are there Oloshos or prostitutes in the middle east?
