Savedday2: The truth is that , Wike supported Tinubu in 2023 because, he was hoping to replicate how Tinubu was able to establish himself as the undisputed godfather in Lagos state.
But what he didn't understand is that the kind grace and leadership style that Tinubu has , he didn't even have 5% of it. He was seriously hoping that Tinubu will understand him and help him to become the godfather of River state.
In my humble opinion, he should slow down, talk less, stop being boastful and stop picking up more fight most especially from his home front. There is no way he would have ended like Tinubu in Rivers State. He engage in too many avoidable fights at the same time. The moment he started working for Tinubu while still in the PDP he lost it completely. It would have been better if he had decamped to apc before or immediately after Tinubu victory, the likes of Fubara would have followed & queued behind him. Even if he decide to move to APC today, he will queue behind Fubara. He misfired by remaining in PDP to be doing the dirty work for APC. Now he has destroyed pdp & he is not in APC. Even if he move to APC today, they will not regard him & most of the APC leaders wouldn't want to associate with him. Tinubu came this far because he was loyal to one party, Wike is not even in any party officially, who will take such a person serious? Tinubu was leader in APC for years without any official position, if Wike should lose his position as fct minister today, he is finished! The only thing covering him is just that office. |

Burob: Leader of APC in the state with mouth, na so e easy? Tinubu tried his best for the man, the APC Rivers state controlled house of assembly will impeach him now, those assembly members still remaining in the Pdp can vote against it, or support their fellow house members in the APC since the Judas governor betrayed the Pdp. Who will impeach who?? Lol You think if Tinubu & APC national caucus didn't want to work with Fubara they would accept his membership? Accepting Fubara into APC without consulting with Wike should tell u the position of the party. Wike has lost this fight. Before now he for use presidency take pass him message, but u can see he is now going to local govts. |

Mariangeles: Fubara is gradually growing balls. He finally found his voice. Fubara has never been a coward, just that Wike has been using federal power to fight him which can subdue any state governor. If something bigger than u is fighting u, the sensible thing to do is to retreat. Now that he is in the APC, they now have a level playing ground to settle their scores without one party using federal influence. |

Neurotika: Most people complaining about the tax law clearly haven’t read it, especially the provisions on personal income tax/PAYE. The arguments flying around are not just wrong, they reveal a worrying level of intellectual laziness.
If you are not seriously wealthy, and by that I mean earning above 200m annually, this law is not even your problem. There’s no significant difference in your tax payable below this income bracket.
For anyone below around 20m annually, your tax payable is even lower compared to the old law. This is not a matter of sentiment or politics. It is simple arithmetic. Apply the same income, factor in all statutory deductions, run the numbers under the old law and the new one, and compare the outcomes.
That is not to say the government should not be held accountable. There are real issues to challenge even under the new tax act. But those conversations only carry weight when they are grounded in facts. Otherwise, we are just making noise.
I watched a video yesterday by one DonAza, a popular YouTube analyst, and the analysis was frankly ridiculous…and It shows how distorted this conversation has become.
We need less outrage and more literacy. Read the law. Do the maths. Then talk.
Happy new year everyone. Regardless of whether it affects the rich or poor, government shouldn't be talking about tax in any form now! Is this government all about tax? It's been tax! tax! Countless banks deductions for one form of tax or another especially at night ever since this govt got into power & nothing has improved! These things we never experienced in previous govt. Borrowing has increased after subsidy was removed! You can't blame the people because we don't trust the govt. There is no transparency in this govt. Not after all the distortions & manipulations that have riddled this new tax law. Previous monies are never accounted for. Whatever affects the rich still find a way to get to the poor through inflation. Nigerians are angry! |

Love800: What's the difference between fixed deposit, mutual fund, government bonds, treasury bills, stock market, equity fund pls? Are all of them the same thing? *Fixed deposit: money u keep for a specified period of time to yield interest. *Mutual funds has many options, but it still keeping money to yield interest, but not for a specified period. *Government bonds are govt instrument u buy to make profit which are distributed quarterly. *Treasury bills are almost same with bond but the interest is not distributed quarterly. Both Treasury bills & bonds are usually for a specified period of 6 months to 1 year & 2 to 3 years respectively. *Stock is buying & selling shares of company. *Equity fund is a type of mutual fund that also involves trading stocks by the company u invest with. |

Preator: I dont really know what the furore around the new tax law is. The law is mostly targeted at the rich and comfortable. Almos lt every poor nigerian will either pay no tax or experience reduction in tax. If you are impacted by the tax law, it means you earn well by nigerian standard(circa 20m a year)
The electronic money transfer levy is not a new tax. They just shifted the burden from receiver to sender. So no vendor should ask you to add N50 to any transfer anymore since you will be paying
I knw there are some fears around the indirect taxes but even those do not impact the masses. Na all of una with millions in Capital and money market the guy is asking to pay more 😂 A tax net that starts from an annual income of 800k is targeted at the rich & comfortable?? So why didn't they start from 20m?? Where are the CNG vehicles that govt promised to distribute immediately after fuel subsidy was removed? Is everybody not buying the fuel now? Like I said alot of Nigerians have made peace with their chains, so there is no point wasting time on nonsensse debate. |

Donbrig: This tax issue is gonna push Nigerians to the wall, I am worried of what is ahead of us..... Massive taxation of citizens is one of the conditions World-Bank, IMF often give our goverment before lending them money, we saw how it played out in Kenya. The issue is not the tax, but a govt mismanaged system that doesn't function... The luck our leaders have is that Nigerians are very docile people & have made peace with their chains. The tax issue that led to the bloody demonstration in Kenya was not this bad. Barely 2 years subsidy was removed, our leaders no allow Nigerians breath, they introduced another tax. A considerate president would have at least waited for second term before introducing any form of tax. Considering the negative impact fuel subsidy removal had on Nigerians. After fuel subsidy removal, borrowing increased. Highest is 2027 they will bring another one after income tax. Our leaders have no conscience! |

Bizibi: the leakages in the system is too much. From those in Villa to nass to MDA to states to local government..... federal level have its leakages, state level is the worst. REVENUE GENERATION IS NOT NIGERIA'S PROBLEM. The entire system is corrupt! From top to bottom When a container has too many leakages, it can never retain water. The issue has never been about revenue generation but corruption. Where is Abacha loot that was returned to this nation? Nothing is ever accounted for. Once they see Nigerians start coping with this income tax, they are coming up with another one, it's barely 2 years subsidy was removed, highest is 2027. |

Bizibi: swear that government officials will not continue stealing taxpayers money. My main issue is the corruption and impunity from those in high places. Don't mind him 2 years after subsidy removal there has been no single impact on the life of an average Nigerian, apart from the endless borrowing & looting. Now they have come up with income tax because election is around the corner, they need more money for rigging & someone is talking about misinformation & ignorance. If we had accountable leaders, people will gladly pay 30% on income tax, but knowing fully well these monies will end up in the pocket of our politicians & their children makes it a very hard thing to do. |

Throwback: Neither Atiku nor Peter Obi can defeat President Bola Tinubu.
Their best chance to defeat him was in 2023. That ship has since sailed. Don't say that, Obi with the backing of northern support will defeat Tinubu. Not with the way APC is ruling the nation. Tinubu implementing this tax law just 1 year to election is a very wrong move. He should have waited till 2027 after the elections. When the effect of the tax start affecting Nigerians which will be very close to election, they will express their pain through voting. |

AMINDA: If Wike continues like this, Tinubu will panic and throw Fubara under the bus. Tinubu only cares about Tinubu. Every other person is dispensable. You got it wrong, it is the other way round, Wike will be the one to be thrown under the bus. Wike is no longer the governor, Fubara as the sitting governor has higher chances of delivering Rivers to APC than Wike. Most of the APC governors are already behind Fubara. Fubara is ready to work for Tinubu and the party, but Wike pushing this fight further is no longer for the interest of the president & party, but for his personal interest. The party's interest overrides Wike interest. If APC don't need Fubara, they wouldn't have accepted his membership in the first place. |

MrSamsung: Whether he invested in naira or dollar it doesn't matter as long as it is gold.
Please just do a simple google search to get the AMOUNT(very important) he should have gotten no matter the currency, even if you want to use Zimbabwean currency in the research no problem No it matters, as at when he invested in gold naira was around 300/400 to a dollar, while dollar remained kind of stable, naira suffered a serious loss from mid 2023 till now. If he had converted that money to dollar before investing it in gold, he would have gotten a lot more by now. What 3m can get in 2020, 7m can't get it now, but what 5k dollars in naira equivalent can get 2020, 2k dollars or less in naira equivalent can get it now. Any assets trader will understand how these things works. |
