Last time we heard of Davido and his baby mama Sophie, the couple were saying bad things against each other on social media.

After Davido unveiled his latest album "Son of Mercy" today, Sophie took to Instagram and promoted the album, hinting that the couple might be back in good terms after all.

Politics / President Buhari Accused Of Plagiarizing Obama's Speech(Pics Included) by Jayceo(m): 4:54pm On Sep 16, 2016
Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has been accused of plagiarizing a speech from U.S. President Barack Obama at an event aimed at ending "dishonesty, indolence, unbridled corruption and widespread impunity" in Nigeria. Buhari, who was elected on an anti-corruption campaign in 2015, was accused of stealing Obama's words by Nigerian newspapers after he used similar words from the U.S. president when launching his new "Change Begins With Me" campaign.

"We must resist the temptation to fall back on the same partisanship, pettiness and immaturity that have poisoned our country for so long. Let us summon a new spirit of responsibility, spirit of service, of patriotism and sacrifice, let us all resolve to pitch in and work hard and look after, not only ourselves but one another," Buhari said when announcing his new so-called "reorientation" campaign in the capital city of Abuja on Sept. 8. "What the current problem has taught us is that we cannot have a thriving army of rent seekers and vested interests, while the majority suffers." A transcript of Obama's speech can be found here.

Adeola Akinremi, a columnist with Lagos-based THISDAY Newspaper, said the speech mirrored remarks from Obama's victory speech when he was first elected in 2008. "Let’s resist the temptation to fall back on the same partisanship and pettiness and immaturity that has poisoned our politics for so long," Obama said at the time. "So let us summon a new spirit of patriotism, of responsibility, where each of us resolves to pitch in and work harder and look after not only ourselves but each other. Let us remember that, if this financial crisis taught us anything, it’s that we cannot have a thriving Wall Street while Main Street suffers."

Akinremi called Buhari "unethical," especially given the focus of his presidential campaign. "It is immoral to plagiarize other people’s work, but even worse to use dishonesty to launch a campaign about honesty," he said. "When you use another person’s work without acknowledgement, you have plagiarized. You simply pretend as if it is your own. It is unethical. It makes a mess of the campaign from the start. That is what Buhari has done, nobody will believe in the ‘change begins with me’ campaign, because it was built on lies."

Presidential spokesperson Garba Shehu told local reporters that officials were investigating the accusation.

CAN has become a big DISGRACE.

I'm badly disappointed that a body supposed to promote Christian interests and pursue evangelism is reducing itself to an ethnic and bigoted association. What victimization? Did they even bother to examine the contents of the delivered speeches?

So what if some bigots are having belly aches at John Kerrys preference to visit the North on his last visit? So what if some people feel threatened at the rising profile of the North? Were any statements made by the Americans in support of terror or were any anti Christian sentiments expressed by either party to the visit?

The association has lost focus and had better retrace its steps before it's reduced to another politicized ethnic association like Ohaneze or OPC. It had better realize that northerners including Fulanis are part of its members so it should desist from making this issue look like a North vs South or Muslim vs. Christian affair. See the way it gave the bloody U.S the opportunity to take it to the cleaners by making completely baseless allegations and insinuations.

I'm ashamed to be represented by this disgrace of an association.

But you are a muslim , how are you represented by CAN

Never saw a Yoraaba condemn far north's unilateral and unconstitutional adoption and practice of Sharia Criminal laws.

Nigeria constitution does not support sharia criminal laws in any part of Nigeria.

Easterners renewed the push for Biafra after far north adapted sharia criminal laws. The SS can't see Sharia in its territory. Now the Middle Belt is kicking against sharia criminal laws.

So where does the SW stand on sharia criminal laws, more so, since there are rumours that Bill to include sharia criminal laws in the constitution is in the National Assembky?

Is that true that their are bills to include sharia in the constitution.

Ok.

However the point i'm making is that if our reserves were so robust that Soludo spent $18B or so to defend the naira against the global meltdown of 2008, then it makes sense to believe that a similar scenario could at least served as a buffer to hold us while we seek other ways to help ourselves

Thats not correct.
Buharis team isn't as solid as the team of '08

My dear friend, fvck APC and Buhari if you like. I'm less concerned about them in this matter.

You're dancing around the question. You made a mistake and it's easier to own up than all this dancing. You said OBJ cleared our debts. Yes i agree.

You said OBJ didn't save. No i disagree

If he didn't leave savings for Yaradua, how did Soludo defend the naira from the global financial meltdown? Even Soludo himself mentioned this in his article against NOI and GEJ last year

So is leaving money in our reserves what you consisder as saving?

Obj left money in the reserves like he is meant to do

Same did Yaradua

Same did GEJ , he left $26 billion
UBEC fund of 50 billion Naira,
Excess crude account that was initially used to bail out some states when buhari came in.

But would you call these savings
Did anyone create a Fund Specifically for thr rainy day, NO!

It was Okonjo Iwealas Idea to start SWF for the rainy day but , fashola, Amaechi, Kwankwanso etc jeopardized it.

Obasanjo didn't save for the rainy days, he left funds in the coffers like every president would do, he didn't initiate any fund like PTF of those days or SWF for the rainy day and this is where I am coming from

You're mostly right with your submissions except when you say OBJ didn't save!! How then did we escape the 2008 global melt down? What did Soludo use in defending the naira?!!

Again I repeat he cleared our debt , this was even done by an appeal to the paris club. They made us pay part and ignored the rest.

He left money in our reserve like every present did . He left $40 billion

Difference between '08 and '15

1 An administration which was swift in his appointments
2 An administration who had a better team
3 An adminstration that gave independence to the rightful system.

Even with all this, the Yaradua era depleted our reserves further into the low 30s

Not to say Jonathan deserves a pass , he is equally at fault. Greatly too

But where we are is hugely dependent on the incompetence shown by this admin so far.

Their policies are disappointing
Their Priorities are disappointing
They haven't gone ahead of this blame game.

A classic example of a sensible Government that performed well under extremely bad conditions due to the ex admin was The Obama administration sufferring from the 08 saga and the Theresa May administration suffering from the Brexit saga.

See how they handled the situation without blame game but getting to do the Job.

APC knew what they were getting into before they contested

As I said their manifesto detailed how they would overcome this. I still have it with me.Its just disappointing they have taken this route. We expected better

How was obasanjo able to save his?

Obasanjo save? Obasanjo didn't save but cleared our debt ratio , He was just fortunate the administration that followed him had a good team that was intelligent in maneuvering the tsunami of '08. The Economy was heading towards hard times everyone knew this. Our economy is dependent on Crude oil price and any change in price would affect it. This low oil price crisis started in 2014 and even APC in their manifesto attested to the fact they were not looking up to Crude Oil to sustain the Economy.(It was a wonderful manifesto tho), quite unfortunate it was dumped when Buhari came into power
The reason we are where we are today is

1 The Economy wasn't the priority of Buhari when he came in. Its obvious how he could appoint SAs for medias weeks into his admin but just appointing SAs for the Economy just this month.

2 The Presidency spent six months before swearing in a cabinet meant to oversee several aspects of the Economy, Meaning the economy was on auto pilot

3 The Presidency was interfering with the CBN, this is why it took time before we floated the naira something we could have done last year when it could have cushioned the effect. This is why a lot of companies left, the foreign currency was fixed and their only option was the parallel market and this affected their business

4 The Presidency implemented the TSA too early, it should have sat with stakeholders and drafted a blueprint on the best way to go about this and given a timeline to do this. Thats why a lot of bank workers lost their Jobs

These are just a few mistakes he made. I supported the Buhari Administration even joined the one million man march in lagos for APC but the truth is they made a lot of mistakes and have been using "mistakes of the last admin" to hide their incompetence. I wish them all the best.
