Since the return of democracy in 1999, Nigeria has had mixed characters with mixed legacies in various state of the "federation". From the celebrated Babatunde Fashola of Lagos to the "pedophilic" Ahmed Sani Yerima of Zamfara state. Find below the best men that have served as states executives per geopolitical zone. Note that this is strictly based on performance while the listed were in office, and not a certificate of moral cleanliness(a term I coined from palmchat)...

SOUTHWEST ZONE:
NAME: Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu (AD/AC)
STATE: Lagos state (1999-2007)

https://www.eminentleaders.haukint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/BOLA.jpg
The Southwest geopolitical zone has had her fair share of the good, the bad and the ugly governors since 1999. While many would remember Raji Fashola of Lagos(2007-2015) for his well-media captured performance and charisma that stood out as one of the best among his contemporaries, I will rather give the honor of the best Governor to the Asiwaju himself, the former Lagos West Senator, Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

When the Jagaban was sworn in as Lagos state Governor in 1999, he inherited a state of near comatose with dilapidated infrastructure. He introduced a financial blueprint that saw Lagos increased her IGR to the tune of N7billion monthly, and created a form of self-survival for Lagos, which was evident when the Obasanjo administration unconstitutionally withheld Lagos state LGAs allocation for a whole THREE years even against the ruling of Supreme Court.

He pioneered the establishment of Bus Rapid Transit System(BRT) and LAGBUS to ease movement of commuters to their places of work and schools especially within the congested Island; He established Lagos State traffic Management Authority(LASTMA) to address the traffic problem of Lagos; he also established Kick Against Indiscipline brigade(KAI) to address the scourge of disorderliness in the metropolis.

Other of his legacies include but not limited to free healthcare services including free ante-natal care for women, free eye treatments and free glasses, popularly called ‘JIGI BOLA’; creation of the Citizens Mediation Centre; a well-staffed and independent Office of the Public Defender, offering legal services for the poor FREE OF CHARGE; establishment of FIVE General Hospitals and Upgrade of existing ones to standard; Upgrade of Lagos State University Teaching Hospital etc.

Tinubu touched virtually all areas of governance that his successor Raji Fashola was full of praise of him at a point when others across the federation were complaining of inheriting a bad state from their predecessors. According to Fashola in his May 2008 Speech on Tinubu's achievement, "he(Tinubu) was able to address a number of socio-economic challenges confronting the State and succeeded in proffering solutions to them. His outstanding achievements in health, education, environment, transportation and many more remain the great legacies which today, serve as a springboard for the smooth take-off of this administration. I am indeed happy and find it a great privilege to have succeeded this great leader in Lagos State."

Think of any policies of both Fashola and Ambode, and I will show you a trace of Tinubu.

Closely following Tinubu is another former Lagos state Governor, Mr Raji Fashola SAN, that served between 2007 and 2015. He no doubt continued the path of his former boss whom he served as Chief of Staff. Eko o ni baje.

SOUTHEAST GEOPOLITICAL ZONE
NAME: Mr Peter Obi (APGA)
STATE: Anambra State(2006-2014)

https://thenews-chronicle.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/PETER-OBI.jpg
Though now a PDP Chieftain, Mr Peter Obi will no doubt go into the annals of history as not just the best produced by his Anambra state, but the best in the entire Southeast zone.

Obi rise to the coveted seat in Anambra state came to many as a shock when he won the ruling PDP at the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court in 2006 to claim the Anambra seat as the legitimate authentic governor, which saw the sack of PDP's Dr Chris Nwabueze Ngige and the Uba dynasty.

For a full year, teachers were on strike, and life seemed to go on. With the strategic intervention of the Obi Administration, the education sector was resuscitated and enabled to great heights from 2012, and the State has maintained first position in WAEC and NECO examinations even till this day.

Obi inherited a state where civil service were at a low, a state with financial mess, a state where Bakassi boys held supreme, a state where many Anambrarians could not be proud of.

He came, worked prudently with meager resources at his disposal, he addressed myriads of challenges including providing infrastructure, creating a financial blueprint kept the state on self survival, fixing the dilapidated civil service, bequeathing. While his peers were embezzeling state funds, Anambra under Obi invested in SABMiller Breweries Corporation, Onitsha(producer of Hero Beer), Orient Petroleum etc.

Before he came to office, Anambra State did not have any accredited hospital or health institution, but within 6 years, the state had Onitsha General Hospital and Amaku Teaching Hospital are accredited. Many health institutions such as School of Nursing and Midwifery, Nkpor; School of Health Technology, Obosi also became now accredited, also those owned by churches became accredited. The Governmrnt also built Anambra state Teaching Hospital and College of Medicine. In fact, he won the Bill & Melinda Gates Award for outstanding performance in the health sector.

When leaving office, Obi handed over N75 Billion in cash and investment. The breakdown is as follows: N27 billion in local currency investment; N26. 5 billion in foreign currency investment and N28.1 billion in Certified State/ MDS balances to his successor Obiano, and paid all salaries, pensions an gratuities. Though the government of Obiano is insisting that what was left was N37 billion. This claim was countered by Obi, who through his Aide published Account details of various government accounts where the said 75 billion were as at March 2014 to back up his claim. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/11/obiano-denies-obis-n75bn-handover/

Only those with little grasp of Anambra state pre-2006 will not appreciate the Man, Mr Peter Obi.

SOUTH-SOUTH GEOPOLITICAL ZONE
NAME: Obong Godswill Akpabio(PDP)
STATE: Akwa Ibom(2007-2015).

https://www.ekekeee.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/Gov-Godswill-Akpabio-545x352.jpg
Now the minority leader of the Senate, the Uncommon former Governor of Akwa Ibom state has left a shoe too big to wear just like Sir Alex Ferguson did while retiring from Manchester United FC of England.

Obong Godswill Akpabio inherited an Akwa ibom state that was a mockery in the south-south region despite the huge allocations it got in the PDP's Obong Attah era(1999-2007). While the media was singing the praises of ACN's Raji fashola and PDP's Rotimi Amaechi of Lagos and Rivers states respectively, a certain and uncommon Governor Akpabio was silently restoring Akwa Ibom state to the path of glory.

He built infrastructures which include a state of the art Hospital, Stadium, road networks, beautified Uyo and other areas, and did relatively well.

Akpabio wasted no time in salvaging the project and completing it on schedule. Ibom International Airport reputed to have one of the longest runways in Nigeria, international flights have already commenced from the airport. But as a man of vision, Governor Akpabio has moved on to complete the second phase which would have the Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facilities to serve the West African sub-region. With the MRO facility, airlines could do some basic checks of their fleet of aircrafts in Akwa Ibom State and save the nation capital flight.

Akwa Ibom State under Akpabio also boasts of the first-in-West Africa e-library. The project is a component of the free and compulsory education policy of the administration, which impact has been phenomenal. Apart from the five floor edifice which is an architectural masterpiece in itself, it is the only library in Nigeria with a multi-media conference hall with a capacity for 200 guests. It also has facilities for teleconferencing from any part of the globe.

In addition to these, he connected the whole of Akwa Ibom state to national grid by embarking on massive rural electrification project in all communities of the state. He also introduced free and compulsory education for Akwa Ibomites and change the image of Akwa Ibom people from the "Ekaete the housegirl to Ekaete the girl from the beautiful Akwa Ibom".

Through his uncommon works, he addressed the issue of flooding that was always prevalent after heavy downpour in the state.

Under his watch, the state became a choice destination for Local and International conferences, seminars and workshop.

Closely following Akpabio is the immediate past Governor of Rivers state, Hon Rotimi Amaechi(PDP/APC) that served between 2007 and 2015. In fact, the former Governor was at one time the best in the entire southsouth until he was caught in a political feud over the soul of the state with the former first lady, Mrs Faka Jonathan and his former Chief of Staff Barr Nyesom Wike. However, not even his staunchest critics can take away the fact that Amaechi's Achievement from 2007-2012 was the best in the South-south and Rivers history.

Both the Uncommon Senator Godswill Akpabio and the rugged Rotimi Amaechi left legacies in their respective states that would take only genius(es) to eclipse.
After Akpabio is Donald Duke not Rotimi Amaechi. Thats a wrong analysis

What is Middle Belt? Middle belt of what? You guys better identify yourselves first before seeking national or regional recognition. A people should have a clear identify. Hausa-fulanis (Arewa), Igbos (Ndigbo), Yorubas (Odua), Ijaws, Ibibios, Edos, etc. What constitutes Middle belt? If Nigeria was to cease being a country, will you remain Middle belt or bottom or top belt? Please find identify for yourselves first. As it is today the so called middle belt is skin to a "bat".
Who said that must be the case. They are a people bound together by boundary. That is enough.

gists:
Here we go again. I will not go into the highlighted part of this paragraph as it is obvious the op is trying to start another religion bashing thread. I'll rather focus on more productive issue.

First I must not only condemn the act totally but also demand from the PMB lead government to bring the criminals to justice. Next, I have to commend the OP for a relatively matured presentation (with some stylish show of islamophobia). At least s/he tried not to exhibit typical full traits of islamphobia. But here is where I have issue with the OP - it is this same attitude of asking muslims to condemn the act. What about the rest of the country? what about both the security operatives? what about both the state and federal government?

What on earth do we think asking muslims to condemn the act will bring? Terrorism is a world problem and its not limited to any religion or tribe or race. We must ALL (muslims, christian, and other faiths) demand from our government and stamp this barbaric act out of our society. The precedence the OP is unknowingly setting goes far beyond religion. If you really think deep about it, the OP suggestion should also be extended to drug traffickers. We should only ask the immigration officers who are from a certain part of the country to be more alive to their duties since it is obvious that the region is "known for" drug trafficking. We should also ask their Obi and chiefs to condemn drug trafficking. Human parts were uncovered during road expansion project in southwest. So, We should also tell law enforcement officers from that part of the country as well as their Obas to be more serious since their region is "known for" human rituals.

I am not asking muslims to keep quiet and bury their head like ostriches, I am asking us to stop this silly request to make it look like it is their responsibility alone. I am asking ALL christians as well as other faiths to join hands and stop terrorism.
Firstly , a good Morning to you My brother
I admire the matured way in which you put down your response.Articulate and Straight to the point without any intent of hitting a nerve. It shows I am conversing with an individual of intellect.

If you took note of all my suggestions you would see my solutions transcend just "mere condemning" .

You put down as i quote "What on earth do we think asking the muslims to condemn it will bring" , I ask you my brother (limiting this to Nigeria) ,if the Sultan of Sokoto , Emir Of Kano and other high ranking leaders(Either Spiritual or Political) in these regions come together and initiate a public conference for all the people who practise this faith in their regions and carefully re-orientate the minds of the people. Show the people this is something they greatly frown on and something God doesn't favour , do you think it would make some form of impact?

Do you know the Governor of Zamfara said "anyone who desecrates the quran would be dealt with" around 3 weeks and now see what happened on Monday. This is what I mean by Re-orienting their perspective by people they look up to. Its way above just putting words in the paper by them to say we "condenm" it. Programs should be initiated to address this.

Furthermore , it would also go a long way if the pepetrators of this evil are sanctioned publicly by leaders in the faith. I have never seen when Sharia law or any form of punishment is metted out by these spiritual leaders to the pepetrators in order to use them as an example to others.
I hear of thiefs with theirs hands cut and women beaten for other offences but I don't hear of this hooligans that do this being dealt with before being handed over to the police. We cannot deny the community knows the people who do this. I served in the north and was opportuned to see a scenario where serious religious fanatics carried out a deadly attack. The more we keep sugar coating that its not a religious problem the more we keep moving away from reality.

Lastly, you put down that terrorism is a world problem(this I agree) , but the one that didn't go down well with me is you indicating it isn't limited to any religion, Due to recent happenings it seems the culprits of these terrorist happenings all practice one religion and quote verses from its holy book to carry out their killings. Lets face this task head on, let the Moslem community take this task as a priority, it is denting the image of Islam. As i said the world is taking note.

WHY THE GREAT WARS AND MODERN WESTERN ALLIED FORCES INTERVENTIONS ARE NOT CHRISTIAN CRUSADES.

Since there are number of Islamic theocracies on Earth today where the government still carry on the killing spree policy of their founder Mohammed, the Muslims tend to cover their unclothedness by tagging European wars Christian wars! It is clearly a sleight of hand!

If President George W Bush and PM Tony Blair were Christian soldiers, there would be no Muslims on Earth today! Taking out totalitarian governments that want to be retailing nuclear weapons is not crusading. If they were crusaders, if Britain and US were crusaders, Islam would have ended by now, you would all be Christians!. Crusaders are psychopaths who carry the Bible about and shout Halleluyah after killing people. The USA and Britain and other Western nations including Germany were never that. The Nazi Germany even had Muslims in the Wehrmacht!. There were Muslims in the Waffen SS!. Engage your brains!. Europe dont rank with killers who shout Allahu Akbar! No. Dont take your liberties for granted.

Europe has gone soft after over a thousand years of derailment with the Christianity religion is why they went secular, an all comers are welcome policy, an equal opportunity arrangement for all kinds of idiocy to be established in Europe under the tag 'Religion',

That will change soon!

A group, the Middle Belt Alliance (MBA), which claimed to represent the interest of indigenes of Northcentral states, has begun moves for the separation of the region from the North.

It decried the current arrangement where Middle Belt indigenes are grouped with the Hausa-Fulani with the intent to create a façade of one North.

Rising from its inaugural meeting in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, the group said it had resolved, among others, to ensure that the region no longer “plays the second fiddle” and is treated as an equal stakeholder in the Nigerian project.

In a communiqué by its Chairman, Dr. Leonard Shilgba, and Secretary, Comrade Andrew Ayuba Butswat, it urged governors from the region to form the Middle Belt Governors’ Forum and pull out of the present Northern Governors’ Forum.

Faulting the provisions of the 1999 Constitution, the group called for the convocation of a sovereign national conference where a new constitution would be made for Nigeria; where each federating unit would have control of its resources and progress at its pace; where the Constitution would ensure justice and equity.

The group noted that some of the traditional titles borne by certain Middle Belt leaders do not have origins in the Middle Belt and called the people to renounce tradition and practices alien to them.

The communiqué reads: “We must be proud of our culture and the pre-dominant religion (Christianity) of our region. No Islamic theocracy shall be accepted in any part of our territory.

“Any constitutional arrangement that seeks to permit Sharia law implementation in any inch of our territory shall be resisted with all resources at our disposal. Religion is an individual choice to make, and must not be imposed.”

Christianity EtcBishop Daniel Obinim Arrested (Video, Photos) by Jayceo(op): 9:54pm On Aug 23, 2016
Controversial Preacher Bishop Daniel Obinim has been transferred from the Tema Police to the CID headquarters for further interrogations in a GH¢11.6 million fraud case.
Bishop Obinim has spent the entire day today at the Tema Regional Police’s premises as they begun investigations into an earlier case of him flogging two church members.
In the latest case, the Tema Police arrested him for defrauding under false pretense.
According to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) PRO, ASP Joseph Darkwa, a complainant came to the Tema Police some few weeks ago to report that he gave an amount of GH¢780,000 to Okomfo Gyapata of Mampong Nkwanta near Koforidua in the Eastern Region to do a spiritual ritual to bless the money.
"According to the complainant, after some time, he realised that the Okomfo was not able to help him neither was he able to give him back his money, so he came to Bishop Obinim to report the matter so the Bishop would help him retrieve the money and do the rituals to bless the money for him," he said.
ASP Darkwa said it was based on that that Bishop Obinim asked him to bring the rest of the gold money which amounted to GH¢11.6 million belonging to the family.
The complaint told the police since he gave the money to the Bishop, he has not been able to do what he was expected to do neither was he given his money.
The complainant said he gave the money to Okomfo Gyapata on November 28, 2015, but the money he gave to Bishop Obinim was in June this year.
The CID PRO told Joy News' Dzifa Bampoh on Newsnite that the complainant has not lodged a complaint against Okomfo Gyapata as yet but if it becomes necessary that they have to involve him they would do so.
"We have just commenced investigations into this issue, when we finish we will hand him over to Domestic Violence Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) to investigate the domestic violence issue," ASP Darkwa said.

A video of the man of God flogging the two with a belt went viral on social media recently, drawing widespread criticism.
Bishop Obinim has defended the action insisting they deserved it for engaging in fornication and attempting an abortion.
The Gender and Social Protection Ministry filed an official complaint with the police to investigate the issue.
Tema Police PRO ASP Juliana Obeng told Joy News that last week Friday, the Tema Tema Regional Police through its DOVVSU department sent a letter to the Bishop to report to their offices for some questioning concerning his recent saga which he failed to honour.
"He reported this morning and we spoke to him and have cautioned him on physical abuse...he has been taken to the national headquarters CID for further questioning. Meanwhile, his two other pastors who were seen in the video have also been cautioned except that the third pastor is yet to report," she said.
The congression waiting for him to lead service at the Tema Community 9 branch were disappointed as the junior pastors throng the police station and they registered their disappointment upon seeing him handcuffed into a police car to be transferred to Accra.
However, when Joy News contacted the communications team of Bishop Daniel Obinim they declined to comment on the issue.

PoliticsA Take on the recent Killings in the Name of Islam. by Jayceo(op):
RELIGION OF "PEACE"?

I woke up to another Headline today. It stated that over 8 people were killed in Zamfara for "blasphemy" on Monday,23rd of August.Yes you read that right, 8 Human beings were slaughtered not Goats, not Cows nor rams but Human life because a mob said someone blasphemed against the Religion of "Peace" this is in addition to ISIS (Iraq & Syria),Hamas (Palestine),Al-Nusra (syria & lebanon),Al-Qaeda (Pakistan, Yemen, Arabia & Syria), Al-Shabbab (Somalia),Boko-Haram (Nigeria & Cameroon) , Talliban(Afganistan), Ansar-Al-Sharia (Libya), Jumaat Ansar-al-sunna (Iraq) , Hezbollah(Lebanon) , Ansar Dine (Mali), Muslim brotherhood (Egypt), Islamic Movement of Ubs (Uzbekistan),Jaish-e-muhammed (Pakistan & India),Jemaah Islamiyyah (Indonesia, phillipines), Laskar-e-Taiba ( Afganistan, Paskistan & Bangladesh) among others.

My mind flies back to a period during my younger years when our security man from the North East sat on a bible. I saw this and I didn't say a word. I didn't call a mob to kill him because he is " blaspheming ", didn't behead him because he is "blaspheming" .
Why must people kill because of a religion?

This isn't the first time people are killing for the Religion of "Peace" in the world. The Killings have been felt in almost all parts of the world from Belgium to Somalia. In 2013 alone according to the US Secetary of State, 17,800 people were killed by some of this misguided agents of the Religion of "Peace" , lets put that in perspective, These deaths are more than the combination of the people in two countries , Tuvalu ( 11,000 people) and Vatican City (850) and we would still have change. This is aside from the 32,500 injured and 2,990 kidnapped. All in the name of the Religion Of "Peace" .

The case is worse as usual in the North West , North East of this Country and just a few parts in the Middle Belt like Niger. this year alone in Kano a woman was beheaded for this Religion of "Peace" , another woman was killed right on the spot in Abuja for this same Religion of "peace" , another man was severely stabbed in Kaduna because he was eating during a fasting period meant for this Religion of "peace" and now eight people got Killed because of this Religion Of "Peace".

I don't know if it is the Killings that annoy me the most or the Hypocritical response of some of the followers of this Religion Of "Peace". They Claim it is a Religion of Peace with one side of their mouth and always find an excuse for why the people who were killed deserved to be killed with the other side.

The Sad thing about this is that there are truly well refined , educated ,forward thinking Individuals of Moslem faith who do not believe things should go this way. But what efforts are they putting in place to stop this menace, it might interest you to know that not all Germans were in support of the Nazi movement but guess what, they folded their hands and watched until it got out of hands. It is a bad precedence that out of the thousands of Religions in the world only one Religion Of "Peace" is really being "Peaceful".

The Presidency and our armed forces should be swift in arresting these criminals, they should use the same rapid force in which they used arresting an individual who named his Dog after Buhari. Sincere enlightened individuals of the Moslem faith that do not like the way these "hooligans" terrorise the world should enable a joint effort in giving these individuals a re-orientation on how they see the religion , the leaders of this faith should take the fore front in this process. Furthermore they themselves should act as major proponents to spearhead bringing these people that encourage this barbaric acts to book and not just the usual talk of this is a Religion of "Peace" and the excuse that Moslems are also killed by them, like in the case of the Nazis ,Germans were also killed by them during their expedition so this isn't an excuse.

It might look like fun and games now until when the world fully takes notice and decides to follow the model adopted by Japan which hasn't had a single killing in the name of the Religion of "Peace" on their land by making it difficult for people practising the Religion Of "Peace" from entering into their country, It is estimated by the ex president of the Japan Islamic Association ,Abu Bakr Morimoto that the total number of Moslems in the country are about 1000, this is out of about 130 million people in the country.

By the time the World wakes up it wouldn't be a peaceful affair anymore.
