Hello everyone, please is it ok for the wife of a student (who has gotten Student Visa already but still in Nigeria) to apply for a visit visa on the grounds that she wants to be able to visit her husband when he begins his studies in Canada? The study period is 2 years.

Has anyone applied for visit visa in this situation successfully? Please I'd like to know your thoughts.

Me, my spouse is still in Nigeria. I submitted her stamped visa page, letter of introduction, study permit approval letter, Enrollment letter, first semester tuition fee receipt and her birth certificate. You need a strong SOP and POF for primary applicant and me.

Is there anyone who applied for SOWP while the student is still in Nigeria? Please lets know documents you submitted, if you paid full tuition and if they requested for full tuition receipt or POF for the spouse + the study applicant

Good day. I need expert opinion on this case scenario. I have been following this page since last year December as guest.

I submitted visit visa with following timeline:
Submission: 28th Sept 2023
Biometric: 3rd Oct 2023
Biometric Updated on application: 10th Oct 2023.

I later submitted SOWP with following timeline:
Upfront Medicals: 14th December 2023
Submission: 24th Dec 2023
Biometric on application still showed: We do not need your fingerprints. We will send you a message if this changes.
Biometric Updated on application: 27th Dec and showed completed in tracker

Medicals was updated passed Jan 3rd 2024 on visit application and completed on tracker but no update on SOWP application and tracker.

Application of visit visa was approved on 7th January 2024 and Passport request in 30 days, however nothing on SOWP.

Should I wait for result of SOWP before I submit passport (i.e. is there is possibility of outcome before 30 days) or make the submission right away? Thank you for your expert suggestions.

Timelines are to encourage all of us in the waiting list (I am always encourage seeing applications approved).

Don't fall into the IRCC trap. The impression they have now is that many if you don't really have thr money that you claim you have in your statement, hence the rush for SOWP for your spouse so that he/she will be working to pay for your tuition fees or living cost. The impression they have about Nigerians now is terrible. This is from a reliable source. You may be asked to present the evidence of payment of full tuition fees. Somebody is now in a serious soup. He submitted the SOWP for his wife. IRCC is now requesting the payment of full tuition fees or else the already approved Study Permit will be revisited and reviewed. Canada is not smiling now

There is no need to include that information, just present her work documents.

That information cannot serve as home ties because technically she can work from anywhere.

So, there's no need to mention the remote part of her work.

Thanks for your response. So to be able to use her work as home ties, how do we present it? I get that we shouldn't mention the remote part. But are we to mention she will return to the employer later? How do you use your job as home ties for SOWP?

If it's study permit I know saying the person studying will return to the employer and probably get a promotion after studies can make the person's job serve as hometies.

But in the case of SOWP. How do we present this?

Hello all, So i want to apply for SOWP for my spouse. She works for a Nigerian employer but her job is fully remote and earns 400k monthly. Do you think we should state that she'll keep working with the Nigerian employer while she's in Canada? Is this a wise decision?

Thanks for this. My Spouse is a Chartered Accountant and she just recently completed her Msc in Naija and earns ok to be a mid income earner

Depends on what the spouse do for a living. You can use the spouse acct to show pof for just the spouse

We are in a similar situation, I was advised to apply with another account other than the first account used as POF because i am the sponsor. I still used the same account use initially for her own but I showed the amount was enough for both of us and also used my father inlaw’s account with amount almost same with mine. I am waiting for decision!!!

Since you are still in Nigeria, it's highly advisable you convince the VO that your funds for the study are still intact then you show separate funds for your spouse SOWP

The funds for the study (Naira value) is still intact but exchange rate has made it not sufficient anymore. That's the issue.

I intend to pay first year tuition (through another means not from the funds I used to apply for study visa) but that will be sometime in July.

How would you advise I go about this SOWP POF?

Hello all, please I have a question. I have gotten my study visa though my program is to start in September 2024 so I'm leaving in August.

But now we want to apply for SOWP for my spouse before I leave.

The question is,

1. for this SOWP we want to apply for, how much POF is required?

2. Do we need to show POF for the SOWP alone or are we still going to show POF for me (the student) too even though I've gotten my study visa?
