It should be the total amount required for your program for a year. That includes your tuition and other expenses. For example, if your tuition and living expenses for one year is 10,000 dollars, you should convert that to naira and put it as your funds available for stay. It is wise to add a little extra to that amount BUT it should NEVER be the total amount of money in your statement of account because if we are being realistic, your sponsor is not going to empty account for you. 9jabiggurl: Does it include your tuition? I know there is a section for tuition fee but when filling the funds available for your stay do you add up the tuition + Living expense+travel cost + miscellaneous?
@ Tsola6 i see you are online and you have your visa already, please help with my question |

Hola mi amigos, como estas? Like Tsola said, school here is quite demanding. But I trust my naija people. It's in our blood. Nothing is too big for us. Lol. Anyway, Victoria is great so far. The weather is amazing. The coldest it gets is 7degrees which is a piece of cake compared to other places. And University of Victoria is another story. Campus is beautiful, serene and just really nice and it also has a good ranking in Canada so you might want to check it out. Ain't nobody gat time for -28degrees weather. That being said, I hail all of you in those places. You guys are the strongest! Just stopped by to say hello and if you need information on the awesomeness that is Victoria or B.C in general, send me a message and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Mas tarde. |

Really sorry to see some people have being delayed. Carefully look at the reasons given and then tackle them
I just want to share a few things I have learnt based on the experiences of others. I am by no means an expert so please don't take me too seriously.
Travel History This one is usually just the "jara" the VO will put in your explanation for a delay. I mean, a virgin passport is a virgin passport. Most times, this reason comes hand in hand with purpose of visit. It is very rare to see one without the other.
Purpose of visit This just shows that the VO does not understand why you are going to Canada and what you are going for. Shio! Shebi you put Admission letter in your application that clearly states the duration, you even further emphasized that in your SOP and of course, you ticked the Study Visa column on the application form but the VO still claims not to understand. Of course the VO can see it but (s)he just doesn't understand (s)he doesn't understand why you studied Microbiology but you now want to pursue a Masters degree in Fine Arts, (s)he doesn't understand why you want to go for a second degree when you already have one, (s)he doesn't understand why you are 30 and just going for your undergraduate degree, etc. (s)he just does not understand and so you have to go the extra mile to make him understand your reasons This one can be tackled in your SOP. Be honest about it. After all it is possible that I studied Microbiology due to family pressure but my passion really lies in Fine Arts and it is possible you want to change career paths. All these things are possible so be as honest and transparent as possible.
Family ties in Canada and in home country This one get as e be. The VO does not want you to have too many family members in Canada and also does not want you to have too few family members in Nigeria. So while it might be favorable to say that you have some family members abroad because it will help your application in the sense that you are financially worthy, afterall the family members are surviving, you have accommodation there, feeding will not be a problem, you do not want it to seem like you have strong family ties in Canada, even though you do So balance is key.
Personal assets and financial status This in my opinion is the easiest to tackle. Most times, however, it has to do with your choice of sponsor(s). While your sponsor's account may be fat enough, what are his financial obligations? For example, it is a lot easier to grant a visa to someone who is the last child of his family with siblings working or married off (The VOs get this information from the family information form). On the other hand, it will be a bit tougher granting a visa to someone whose sponsor has a lot of financial obligation, even tougher when the sponsor is not your relative. So pick your sponsor wisely.
Current employment situation This is just a way the VO tells you that (s)he thinks you are leaving to Canada for greener pastures (Duhh, aren't we all?) This is usually tougher for people who graduated some years back but are finding it difficult to get a job or they got one that's not good enough. To be honest, I can't with this ridiculous reason. What is wrong with wanting more for your life? Not that Canada is exactly more but its an option that we just want to explore. But then again, find a way to tackle it. Again, you can be honest about it.
Personal assets and financial status This again, depends on age and also, years of work experience. Sadly. They expect that if you have been working for say, 10 years, you should have some level of comfort financially. A VO has his own expectation, even though some are not realistic.
At the end of the day, it depends on a lot of other things. Sadly, the VO's mood is one of it. If it is rush hour, if there is a quota in place, anything. But guess what? When God says YES...
Like I said earlier, this is from what I gathered from the experiences of others. I may be blatantly wrong but I know this can help someone no matter how little.
All the best guys.
(@Tnuola sorry for your delay. I was actually anticipating positive news from you. I'm sure it will come soon.) |

I don't know about you but personally, I will not bother addressing the issue. It's not a big issue especially because your birth certificate and other certificates tally. My personal opinion is to let it be, do not complicate your application by bringing focus to a part that is not even visible. But then again, that's just what "I" will do. toecyne: my e pals my birth certificate bears Mustapha Tosin Owolabi Taoreed. all my certificates bear my name Mustapha Tosin Owolabi but my NYSC bears Mustapha Taoreed Tosin, i intend using an affidavit to support it, and a pic of my passing out ceremony to support it. will it suffice? |

You have absolutely nothing to be worried about. Some of us faced this same issue; We got a quick notification that medical passed and we had to wait about two weeks to get a passport request and finally got the passport about three days later. Don't worry about it. Just make all possible arrangements, pack, do all the running around. The passport will come soon. HudsonBanks: No update at all. I'm really sick of this CIC folks, medicals have been updated since last week still no passport request. Nothing! |

Hello Valeriann, Who says you compulsorily need a study leave letter? While it is good to include that letter as it will serve as a proof of ties in home country, it is not compulsory or cast-in-stone. An employment letter, confirmation letter, payslips are very good alternatives. If you have the letter, go for it. If not, don't stress it. All the best. valeriann: Hello House, I got an admission with lambton college for instrumentation and control engineering, I can't seem to wrap my head around why I need a study leave letter(2yrs)from my company(huawei technologies), I honestly feel is ' laughable' cuz NO company gives such leave. Please house is this letter compulsory? Kindly advise...Brilliant house! |

Hi, 1.) I am curious to know who requested for an employee reference letter. Are you applying for a student visa? Personally, I used just my employment letter and then I scanned my work ID card. If you can get leave letter, better but not everyone wants to let their employers know. In whatever case, the employment letter should be enough. 2.) I did not add payslips to mine. I however included my staff account statement with my application so the VO can tell through the monthly inflows my pay structure. If you can get it though, great. I actually forgot to include it. 3.) I don't know what you're applying for but if its a student visa, on the checklist under Proof of Financial Support, employment letter is right there. You can include your employment letter, your sponsor's employment letter, however it applies. 4.) Okay now I think you are not applying for a Study visa, yes? There was no place that required certifications, etc except of course in the Letter of Explanation part where people just add their certificates and qualifications just to serve as a proof of whatever it is they stated on their application. x Tryxo: Guys, it's great to be here.
I will be applying by the end of this month for a temporary work permit in Canada (I am participating in a one-year program there). This is my first post on this thread and I have a few questions:
1) Aside an Appointment Letter from my current employer (in Nigeria), I am also requested to provide an Employment Reference Letter, i.e., a recently-dated letter from my current employer giving details of my work history with them (duration, job specs, etc). The problem is I can't tell my current employer that I am leaving. How do I get this letter? Any alternative?
2) The company also doesn't issue pay slips. How do I deal with that requirement too?
3) My bank statement may have helped to address the pay slip matter since the Salary credit will be seen at the end of every month's statement. Unfortunately, it was not in the checklist of documents that I need to submit. I am surprised. Is this the norm? Do I attach it in some other way? or just ignore?
4) If my occupation is not a regulated one like medical jobs, what do I upload in place of the required license/certification?
Thanks in advance. |

Hello, The highlighted are for Evidence of Proof of Financial Support. The additional information on that section clearly states that. If you can re-arrange it please do. A very organized application just makes the VO's job a lot easier. (By the way, how far? Hope you've sorted out your SOP now) 9jabiggurl: Merged them together based on the section you are uploading to. eg.
Financials - SOA, all sponsors detail anything relating to your funds etc....
SOP, Employment letter, payslips, resume, leave letter etc can go under that section that says Supporting docs or so (where you have Letter of Explanation section)
Transcript and any school related docs can go to the section where you are to attach Letter of Acceptance
Just do a critical overview of all your docs and merge what you deem fit for each section...in essence you should have about 4 merged docs in total, i think(each for one section re your MyCIC Account.
Remember there is a limit to the GBytes each section can take - hence you cant merge all as just one doc, split them as advised above. Hope this helps....
Thats what I plan to do anyways |

Did you apply online? If yes, you don't need to drop your passport just yet. When a decision has been made on your app, then they will request for it. All the best with your application. dspecialist: Please i applied online via the cic website and i printed out my bio metrics letter and proceeded to vfs to do my bio metrics. At vfs the lady took my bio metrics and gave me a slip but did not collect my passport. This got me worried. Please is this normal, or make i quickly go back go complain. Cos i even asked the lady and she was just like "We would be in touch".
Im confused e. Kindly advice |

So what did I submit?

Passport/Travel document Showing travel history and POE stamps

Keyword being "try" ma. If you've waited for 10 weeks and have not heard anything, you will exhaust all possible options. 9jabiggurl: But just saying, why would you want to try if it clearly states the following
You may use this form if:
You have submitted an application at a visa office abroad. The information you seek is not available on E-cas . Your application has exceeded normal processing times. We will not respond to your enquiry if the application is within normal processing times. Information on processing times.
my two cents.............just saying |

No harm in trying. 9jabiggurl: But remember official processing time is 23weeks so not sure anybody can use that form just yet except its gone pass the 23weeks as advised on their website..... |
