Bamsherif:
Nigerians will complain of tecno and infinix phones....comparing them with iphone, samsung, huawei etc...is not fair because there is a big difference in price....tecno and infinix are focusing on the market where they can make sales and have seen that we only want cheap devices....you can't expect a rat to run like a horse now....you are buying phones at those price range and expecting to have heaven and earth or same quality as iphone and samsung....infinix zero that has very good quality and features for over 100k doesn't hit in the Nigeria market or infinix s3x that came with snapdragon processor which went for above 65k....una buy am? So this thing is a matter of cost of production...if u have money go for top quality phones and stop complaining of infinix and tecno abeg

I disagree.
Phone is not just about RAM, ROM and camera. Infinix Zero 6 comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 and the price is ₦105,000. However, there is a Nokia 6.2 with the same chipset that goes for ₦72,000. Today, no one is buying zero 6 because of price. What transsion is doing is to give us low quality chipset coupled with big battery and a camera that depreciates over time and sell at relatively low price. I like them actually. It's business. They understood their target market and they keep rolling out what would fly without stress.

As at today, the best brand that can be trust when it comes to frequent OS upgrade is Nokia. My Nokia 5 came with Android 7.1.1, I was able to upgrade to Oreo and I'm currently on Android 9 Pie. My friend who got Tecno Camon CX then is still on Nougat.

I also agree that Leo Messi is the greatest footballer of all time. However, I do not think he is the greatest sportsman of all time. Some would say Roger Federer. There is another Michael Phelps. There's a certain Muhammed Ali too. Floyd Mayweather, Lewis Hamilton, Serena Williams, Michael Jordan, Usain Bolt. All these people could be mentioned too. I don't think anyone would win the Greatest sportsman argument.

Hunger and poverty is more dangerous than police brutality in Nigeria.

Why this is surely commendable, Akin Should be looking into poverty elevation schemes.

Akin just launched ₦250M poverty alleviation for Egbeda and Ona-Ara women. This would be spread for 4 years.

That said, I think people would appreciate this in the long run. The level of police brutality and "Ọmọ Onílè" issues around that axis is very alarming.

Politics / Akin Alabi Launches Pro-bono Legal Services For Egbeda, Ona Ara Residents by Jaymaxxy(m): 10:51am On Sep 08, 2019
Hon. Akin Alabi has launched a Pro-Bono legal service for residents of Egbeda/Ona Are Federal Constituency to help those in needs with access to better legal service. The core of the program will be the fight against Police brutality, harassment and illegal detentions.

Hon. Akin Alabi has hired a top legal firm in Ibadan to combat these issues, the law firm will inspect all detention areas and police stations within Egbeda/Ona Are to enforce the fundamental human rights of detainees within the consistency.

Outside Police brutality, the Pro Bono Service will also aid indigents that are defrauded in land cases, harassed by criminals and the issues of fundamental human rights.

During a visit to the Commissioner of Police to announce his intention for this program, Hon. Alabi stated that he is willing to represent his people on all matters, as a true representative of his people, it is time to represent them. The Commissioner then promised to do the best within his capacity to ensure success for everyone involved.

Explaining how it will work, Hon. Akin Alabi stated that hotlines will be provided on his Akinmeansbusiness social media accounts and a strong memo to his constituency office and Local Government offices for indigenes to know the numbers to call to enjoy this first of its kind service.

Akin Alabi won the election to represent Egbeda/Ona Are Federal constituency and was sworn in earlier in June.

Health / Government owned Kidney transplant centres in Nigeria including cost by Jaymaxxy(m): 12:42pm On Aug 25, 2019
There is no need travelling to India, Dubai, the UK and the USA for kidney transplant anymore as there are now government owned kidney transplant centres spread across Nigeria with competent manpower and up-to-date facilities. Morever, why travel abroad when you can get a renal transplant done here at a cheaper rate with good outcome plus support from family and friends?

Below are are list of government own kidney transplant centres in Nigeria:

1. LAGOS STATE UNIVERSITY TEACHING HOSPITAL (LASUTH)
Had performed a total of 5 kidney transplant so far. Had a second successful transplant on a 41-year-old policeman in 2016. The donor was his 42 year old brother. Both the recipient and the donor survived the surgery.

Cost: Announcing the surgery to newsmen, chief Medical Director of the hospital said the kidney transplant cost 4.5 million Naira.

2. Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia
Reputed to have performed the first kidney transplant in South-Eastern Nigeria. The first patient to receive a new kidney was a 37-year-old businessman, Mr. Oji Ogbonanya Ule, who had been battling with kidney problem for four years. His new kidney was donated by his 58-year-old uncle who is a civil servant.

Cost: They reportedly paid #5.5 million Naira for this procedure.

3. Lagos University Teaching Hospital
In 2011, a thirty eight-year-old woman was the recipient of the first successful kidney transplantation surgery at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital. Since then, they have carried out series of successful renal transplant.

Cost of renal transplant in LUTH is #8 million Naira.

4. University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital
Nigeria’s first kidney transplant was conducted on 31-year-old Suleiman Usman in Sept. 2010 by the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH), in collaboration with the Bayero University Teaching Hospital, Kano and the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.

The kidney was donated by his brother, Abubakar Usman at the university Kidney Centre.

Cost: #5 million.

5. Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital

Has performed the highest number of kidney transplants in Nigeria. The OAUTH, Ile-Ife, was the first teaching hospital in Nigeria to carry out an indigenous kidney transplant in June, 2002. According to the Chief Medical Director, the hospital has performed a total of 15 kidney transplants and over 70 open heart surgeries with no complications. They recently acquired modern facilities to enhance patient care.

Cost: With 6.5 million Naira, you can have a successful renal transplant in OAUTH.

6. Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital
The most successful of the government owned kidney transplant centres in Nigeria with 19 recorded successful transplants.

Cost of renal transplant Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital is 5.5 million including drugs.

7. Delta University Teaching Hospital (DELSUTH)
It was reported on Premium Times that DELSUTH performed their first successful kidney transplant in 2014. However, they have not been consistent with the renal transplant programme as there have been an interlude of 5 years now. Anyway, dialysis in this centre is highly subsidized by the state government for indigenes.

DELSUTH conducted their first renal transplant for #6 million Naira.

8. University College Hospital, Ibadan
University College Hospital is one of the oldest kidney transplant centres in Nigeria. Had their first successful renal transplant in 2008 and have been consistent ever since averaging about 5 transplants every year.

Cost of renal transplant in UCH is #7.5 million Naira plus drugs.

9. University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Enugu
Located in Nssuka, Enugu. The University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH) performed their first successful kidney transplant in 2018 and has been consistent ever since.

The cost of renal transplant in UNTH is #3.5 million Naira including 6 months immunosuppressive drugs.

10. Uthman Danfodio University Teaching Hospital, Sokoto
Had plans underway to perform their first renal transplant in 2016 but has not really kicked started. The plans are still underway.

We need more kidney transplant centres in Nigeria to cater for the health of teeming Nigerians with kidney diseases.

Phones / Samsung Galaxy A10 Vs. Nokia 3.2 Comparison Review by Jaymaxxy(m): 11:53am On Aug 03, 2019
In this Samsung Galaxy A10 vs. Nokia 3.2 comparison review, we put the two budget smartphones from arch-rivals side-by-side to see who pips the other. We have handled both phones in different reviews and know what they have to offer.

Samsung Galaxy A10 2019 and Nokia 3.2 are two products that are so similar, yet so different. They almolst share the exact same screen size, similar waterdrop notch at the top of the display, same internal storage, same RAM (the lower variant of the Nokia), and similar price tags.

On the software and graphical UI side, they are quite different. The one has a rich custom user interface that changes the look and feel of Android 9 Pie completely, while the other retains the simplicity of pure Android OS. Two different approches to solving the same problem.

Both of them are targeted at the lower mid-range segment of the market – users who want an affordable smartphone with a touch of class.

When you hold each of these smartphones in the hand, the nice polycarbonate finish give both of them a reassuring feel of durability and class in the sea of cheap plastic budget smartphones available in the market. Truth be told, from the design and build, both the Samsung Galaxy A10 2019 and Nokia 3.2 are like identical twins. Many of the differences can be found on the inside.
As you can see from the table abvove, the two phones are fairly evenly matched, with exceptions in terms of internal storage and battery capacity and charging. Let’s have a look at where each has an edge.

Where Samsung Galaxy A10 2019 has the edge

The Galaxy A10 2019 has twice the storage of the Nokia, though the Nokia has a 3GB/32GB variant. But that variant is in a difference price segment from what these two devices offer. The Samsung also supports much bigger memory card (up to 1TB), and has Bluetooth 5.0 against the Nokia’s version 4.2.

The Samsung has an octa-core processor, while the Nokia has a quad-core chipset, but in real use, it doesn’t offer any noticeable performance difference.

Where Nokia 3.2 has the edge

The Nokia 3.2 has the marginally bigger display (0.06″ difference), has a much bigger battery (600mAh difference), and has 10W fast charging. It also has USB On-The-Go functionaility, so you can plug in USB devices like flash drive, mouse, keyboard, etc.

With stock Android OS, the Nokia does not have an extra layer of user interface to manage, which provides a slightly smoother operation. You will also get 2 years of software updates and 3 years of security updates guaranteed. With Samsung, there is no guarantee that a budget device like the A10 2019 will see any major software updates.

Despite the Samsung A10’s more sluggish performance, Samsung and One UI lovers swear that One UI is the best Android user interface ever nand they likely won’t give it up for what they consider to be the bland look and feel of pure Android.

Samsung Galaxy A10 vs. Nokia 3.2: Who wins?

They are so similar, yet so different. It is a tough call. At the end of the day, who “wins” for you has to do with your needs and your preferences. We are inclined to give the medal to the Nokia 3.2 and declare it the winner. Feature for feature, dollar for dollar, naira for naira, it offers more benefits than the Samsung does.

Still, I’d like to hear from you: which of the two is your preferred classy, budget Android smartphone?

The transfer ban. Eden Hazard's departure. Sarri's exit. All these could just be blessing in disguise for Chelsea. This is just an opportunity to rebuild the team and inject talented young bloods into the team. Maybe all these would make them realize how amazing their young academy boys are. They might not win silverwares but they would achieve so much at the long run if all these young lads are kept and allowed to develop.

Politics / "30 Days In Abuja"- Akin Alabi Talks Abou His Allowances And Achievements So Far by Jaymaxxy(m): 12:41pm On Jul 13, 2019
As I stepped into the Chambers of the House of Representatives, National Assembly Complex, Abuja on the 11th day of June, 2019 for my inauguration, I looked back at years of campaigning and I was super thankful that I eventually got elected to represent the good people of Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency.

I said eventually, because this is my second attempt. I lost the elections in 2015 but I came back stronger in 2019 as I and 8 other candidates of the All Progressives Congress won our elections. Oyo state is made up of 14 Federal Constituencies.

Today makes it a month since I got sworn in. It has been a great experience for me and I am looking forward to the next 47 months.

Allow me to summarize my experience in the last 30 days because I don’t want to make this article too long. People don’t like reading long articles.

Firstly, lets talk about the Speakership of the House

I voted for Hon Femi Gbajabiamila and there was no doubt about where my loyalty was. Firstly, our party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) had endorsed him. I am a party man to the core and I subscribe to the ideology of party supremacy. Party first. Party before candidature. The party leadership (the President, the National Chairman, the National Working Committee, the Governors etc) had endorsed Hon Gbajabiamila so I towed the party line.

Apart from that, I believe he is the most capable and experienced out of all those that showed interest. He has been in the House since 2003 making this his 5th term. He has served as the minority leader. He has served as the majority leader. He is the perfect legislator to lead the 9th House of Representatives.

Then lastly, I personally know Uncle Femi as I call him outside politics. I’ve known him for a few years. He is a gentleman to the core. A fair very man. I knew I would vote for him even before I decided to contest for elections. I am confident he will make a great Speaker.

My activities on the Floor

Today’s seating makes it the 7th in the 9th House of Representatives. A few bills have been read (first reading) and quite a few motions have been moved. I have finalized and submitted 3 motions and 3 bills to the relevant committees. Upon approval, I will be called upon to present and argue them. I will post the details here when that happens.

In the meantime, I have contributed to other motions being debated on the floor. This is just the beginning as I am still learning the ropes.

Life in Abuja

Abuja is a bit expensive. I am not surprised. I didn’t expect less. I have been living in hotels. The kind of house I want to live in and the area I want to live in seems to be out of my budget. I don’t want to buy a house in Abuja yet, if I ever will.

I am looking for a fully detached house with my own compound. I don’t want to live in a place where we have to share facilities. I like to be alone so when 50 people come to spend time with me from my constituency, no alakowe will come and meet me that we are making noise. lol

In Maitama where I looked for such houses, the prices were over the top. Twelve Million Naira. Fifteen Million Naira were being brandished. I ran away. lol. I’ve changed location to places like Katampe and Life camp. Now I’m humble. Why wouldn’t I? The housing allowance provided by the National Assembly is not enough to rent what I want. I still have the option of staying in Maitama if I go for an apartment where I will share facilities. That should be cheaper.

Which brings me to the issue of money. If you are looking to come and make BIG money at the National Assembly LEGALLY, please forget about the idea. A lot of people end their tenures here worse off than they were when they came in.

Anyway, talking about the allowance, for both Housing and Furniture, I got (N3,970,00 plus N7,940,00). I am told I will get it ONLY ONCE in 4 years. You see why I have become humble? lol.

I’m told we would get a car loan of about N7m and I’m told after 4 years, we will get N5m as severance. You can call that your gratuity or retirement benefit. In a nutshell, the total a lawmaker will be getting at the national assembly, plus salaries (basic salary is N700k), plus housing and furniture allowances, plus newspaper allowance, plus retirement benefit, plus EVERYTHING will average out to about N9m monthly in TOTAL. Nothing extra.

With the gigantic promises I made back home, the entire earnings will will have to go to my people and I will probably have to dip into my personal savings and investments. Make name no go spoil. lol

People talk about constituency projects. No! Lawmakers do not get paid money for constituency projects. You “nominate” projects for your constituency and the relevant agencies will execute them. If you are coming to the National Assembly to get rich, it is either you are deluding yourself or you are planning to do something illegal.

And I don’t plan to do anything illegal.

The interesting thing is that the information about the salaries and allowances of lawmakers is readily available at The Revenue Mobilization, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMFAC). I asked a journalist working for a major newspaper why his paper has not published the true breakdown.

His reply: The Truth Is Not Sensational Enough!

My Constituency

The day after my inauguration, I flew to Ibadan to throw a celebration party for the residents of my constituency, Egbeda/Ona-Ara. I flew back to Abuja the next day to attend plenary. My intention is to stay close to my people. The support they gave me during the campaign and election was enormous and I plan to keep my campaign promises.

The women were a vital part of my campaign and my first empowerment initiative is directed towards them. We have earmarked ₦250m to empower them in terms of loans and grants, training, health care support and more. This will be spread over 4 years so I can conveniently raise the money.

This is just the beginning

zedman1:

1. Ortom is from Zone B, same as Jime his contender. In Benue, Only Zone A and B(The Tivs) are elected governors. Zone C are minority tribes(Idomas, Igedes etc).
If Jime had won it will mean 12 years of Zone B rule. Zone A will not let that happen. They prefer he finishes his rubbish because 8 year rotation of power between Zones A and B is the norm here. And of course Zone B voted for him because he is "their brother ". Is that not a stupi.d reason?

2. In the just concluded elections, the people of Benue didn't vote along party lines. Jime's wife is Idoma( Zone C). Zone C is predominantly a PDP Zone but surprisingly APC won in all but one or two local governments either because they all knew Ortom was incompetent or Jime's wife is from zone C. Some of Zones A and B would never have it happen that their first lady is from Zone C. Sentiments came into play here, another stupi.d reason.
In conclusion, Benue politics is so complex and stupi.d to an outsider and to some extent stupi.d to us too. Benue is almost strictly a Civil service state only interested in a governor who even if he does nothing towards developing the state, should at least be able to pay workers' salaries. Ortom hid behind the Fulani crises which we all know has been a major problem donkey of years before his emergence to cover for his incompetence. He only let Nigerians know about the carnage( which is indeed a good thing) but it wasn't reason enough to leave the people in penury. Four years, no employment , no infrastructure, no salaries, just Fulani this, Fulani that, who doesn't know about Fulani in Benue? How did other governors before him handle it? With steady Federal government allocations to the state unlike before yet nothing to show. It's the reason Benue surprisingly voted Buhari again. These are our stupi.d reasons, I hope you understand?.

Bro, I really appreciate this breakdown. Nigeria politics almost in every state is played along premordial sentiments and nothing more. The day we stop celebrating mediocrity at the expense of merit is the day we will start developing as a nation.
