Grammy award is for musicians- people who are skilled composers, songwriters, and instrumentalists. Grammy is not for freestyle artistes; not for people that sample other people's work or artistes with incoherent lyrics like the Nigerian pop artistes except for a handful that Burna boy is not part of. Burna boy does good music to some extent though but Agelique Kidjo is a musician, Grammy is for musicians and that's why Grammy is called an academic award.

I have been following the Grammies for years now, I will tell you that I was surprised to see burna boy on that list (no hating please, am just being academic and practical here). But incase Burna boy wins, then the standard for winning was reduced. Gaskia!

Music lovers and genuine critics like myself would have given up on the credibility and essence of the Grammy award if another undeserving artiste won this.

Sentiments aside.
Nigeria is yet to replicate another Fela in the global music sphere.

Music is not about dance steps...it's about a movement, a message, awakening a consciousness and the melody.
A reality lost on today's Nigerian artistes aside from Asa who lacks in consistency.

Asa can never get a Grammy nod. She's also inconsistent. Femi Kuti for me I think is the only one for now that can ever come close. Or seun kuti

The Federal Government has ended Multichoice’s exclusive rights in broadcasting sporting events in the country following a statement issued by the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed.

Special Assistant to the President (Media), Office of the Minister of Information and Culture, Segun Adeyemi made the statement available to newsmen.

Consequently it has directed the National Broadcasting Commission to immediately implement measures aimed at sanitising and re-positioning the industry.

“This regulation prevents the misuse of monopoly or market power or anti-competitive and unfair practices by a foreign or local broadcaster to suppress other local broadcasters in the television and radio markets.

“This is so, having removed exclusivity from all content in Nigeria and mandated the sharing of all content upon the payment of commercially viable fees,” he said.

Mohammed said the new regulation is contained in the report of the committee which he set up to work out the modalities for implementing the recommendations approved by President Muhammadu Buhari to re-position the broadcast industry.

The minister inaugurated the NBC Reform Implementation Committee on Oct. 10, 2019 and the committee chaired by Prof. Armstrong Idachaba submitted its report on Nov. 19 the same year.

The minister stressed that the break-in monopoly will boost reach and also maximise utilization by all broadcasters of premium content, in order to grow their platforms and investment in other content.
