Finally, The equity contribution part was not a problem. However, I approached my state (Ondo State) Commissioner of Agriculture to see how we can get the expanse of land needed for the project. I made him see the benefits e.g job creation of over 250 people, IGR, Export Rebate, FX income etc. You know what he said..............Abeg make I no air my state dirty linen on Naira land. That's how me I jejelly carried my fund and went into other business. This was a project that by the time we harvest the plantain alone, it would have repaid almost half of our indebtedness to the bank within the first one year o. U see, part of the problem here is our own doing. Well, i haven't given up just yet. God's willing, I hope to achieve this dream before I clock 40. I have a couple of years left though. |
Cont'd Well, like u said, foolishness beclouded us. Dad got old, i felt kike why should i soil my hands being a farmer, I stopped going to farm, startrd doing "guy", I gained admission into the university, Dad leased his farm to the Ebiras, and finally, most of the withered and dried up due to bad management. All they care about was to harvest the pods whenever it ripped Fast forward to 2013, with the help of a consultant in Ibadan, I got a well-written, mathematically-accurate and brilliantly-projected feasibility study for 150Hectares cocoa plantation. This would have been the single biggest plantation at that time. Then, Adesina was the minister of agriculture, through a friend I had an appointment with him. He gave me a note to CRIN. CRIN promised they would give us seedlings at subsidized price. No wahala! I approaced Bank Of Agriculture, they came up with plenty bearucracy and bottleneck. I paddled my canoe forward and approached a commercial bank. I was invited for a presentation and I was able to wow their management. They agreed to bankroll the project but with conditions that I must provide 10% equity (about N15m) and also have the land secured. . |
Thanks @Newway2 for this wonderful writeup. My background is similar to that of yours. Having grown up in a cocoa farming community coupled with the fact I am my dad:s favorite child esp in terms of farming activities I know not just art but the science of cocoa farming. From cutting off seeds affected by black pod to spraying with pesticides (gammallin, phosphates etc)...fermentation....just name it. Our farm then was about 5hectares situated in Akure South in Ondo State. |

I've done a couple of transactions hereon and two of the buyers were in remote locations - Lagos and Ogun State while I'm in PHC. One of the buyers paid and i sent his package after I received payment. The other guy paid immediately he received an SMS notification with a tracking number from God Is Good Courier confirming that a package had been shipped to him. @appleton pls don't do this. Pls its not too late. Pls don't bring the wrath of God upon u and ur generation |

I beg to differ, there's nothing absolutely wrong with giving children Bobo and other fruit drinks. Apart from sugar which is massively required by and easily burnt down by their system Bobo contains milk and yoghurt wich is part of the essential daily nutritional intake by the children. Same goes for Ribbena which contains blackcurrant .Blackcurrant is a good source of vitamin C which boosts the children immune systems Moderation is the keyword here |

When ur kids use internet browser to look for images.....for projects or anything else related to school work, encourage them to use "kiddle" instead of "google". kiddle is a browser from google specially created for kids so they don't see stuffs that are inappropriate for them

A wise old woman once said to me that there are only two lasting bequests we can hope to give our children. One of these she said is roots, the other, wings. Roots to know where home is...we want our sons’ roots to go deep into the soil beneath them and into the past, not in arrogance but in confidence. and wings to fly off, explore the world and practice what has been taught them........ |
