viperman: Good!!! Good!! Now thats wisdom right there. I laugh when most people come and ask me to get them a 1996 car with less than 50k mileage, after advicing them they move away to go buy from someone else with a lemon/tampered odometer car, after buying they start having problems and start pleading with me to help them re-sell. When i refuse to help resell they say i'm a bad person, how will i help you sell a bad car to an innocent person i ask them? They have no reasonable answer.
The thing about buying a tokunbo or nigerian used car is all about how sound the car is, if it's sound and clean, buy it, else leave it.
J-D, hit me up via email for the volvo s80 talk Abi, you talk correct and if you decided to go according to them, when there is problem with their car they will start calling you bad names. will hit you on your mail. @Udobass i can give you a good deal. |

Seeke: Hi people, I have about 750-850K for a car but I'm at a loss which car to buy? My favourite makes are Toyota,Honda and Nissan (in no particular order),manufacturing date should not be earlier than 1999 and must have automatic transmission+factory. fitted A.C. and C.D player.
If there's any other thing you think would help me decide, please don't hesitate to mention.
I trust you guys to give me sound advice. Let them start rolling in. oh boy why are you stressing yourself with somekind of impossible, comeon lower ur pride and go for sometin you can deal with or better go look for a naija used car. stop dreaming of a toks not ealier than 1999 for that price. one love |

hollirigth: I will not advice anyone to ship cars older than 8yrs through Nigeria port. According to a reliable soruce, minivan is still considered as a car, the only exception to the 8yrs rule are 8seater and above passenger buses. Two of my cars just arrived Lagos from US this week but they are both yr2000. You can just add a little more money and buy a van/car that is less than 8yrs old, this may save you a lot more in the end, otherwise, the only option is to go through cotounu if your vehicle is old. You don't want to learn by experience, Hope this helps looks as if you really into the car import stuff, i can help you out if you are interested, ie using the togo port for cars more than 8years and i bring it in for you. my cars uses the road and not a bush and i use day light not nite. let me know if you game, so that i can tell you more about my options. @Uzoo you've heard it better not to learn by experience. it is either you get a car/minivan that is not more than 8years or you use other alternatives. |
Autos › Re: I Need Help On How To Import And Clear A 1995 Model Car From The States by Jdesigns(m): 3:00am On Jan 12, 2008 |
sultaan: According to word on the street there is no limit on trucks and vans. The Naija way is not to have a binding guide line on shipping/import policies so that the powers that be can milk both govt and people.
If there is no specific duty for a car, they can charge what the feel, and send remaining scrap to FG.When you get your van to Naija you'll find out if it legal, or you'll have to pay some penalty. The more holes you have in the system more money can be siphoned out. well said bro, thumbs up |

uzoo: hi,
thanks ,actually its a minivan , and its for business purpose , i'm not quite sure but i heard the strict importation of cars not older than 8 years does not apply to minivans and buses i.e . if you have a nissan quest, toyota siena , ford windstar , plymouth voyager , all kinds of buses and also peopel carrier and they are more than 8 years ols you can still import to nigeria through lagos port and clear normally. so i don't intend to do the long or illegal route from other borders, but thanks anyway. i just need to know if this is true and if so how much it would cost to clear a minivan , say from 1995 or 1996. 1997 , 1998,1999 models well, if you believe you can use the lagos port why not try it. its not that u cant but re you willing to pay more for the clearing, that's the question at hand. uzoo: so i don't intend to do the long or illegal route from other borders, but thanks anyway. who told you that using other port is an illegal route, they pay import duties even when using the road border except you want to use the bush which i dont and i neva will. well, good luck on your search for prices |

obua: If the car is late model car/big car , it can be a good idea. If you can do it abroad, better. 95% of mecahnics in Nigeria are quack and their work in Nigeria is shoddy. They don't understand what they are doing. Training is poor and they don't read much It will still be more expensive to do steering conversion locally because all the tokunbo parts still come from abroad. A japanese guy promised to do for me for $2000, while most guys charge about N400k for the job in Naija why are you spoiling the naija mechanics or you think all are like the quake you have you PH. how are you sure that the japanese guy can do it. dont believe all expatiate are props, so are learners. By the way how many foreigner read, all they do most of the time is learn on the job @poster don't mind him, we have very good guys whose job is mainly conversion of right to left hand at ladipo market Mushin and they will charge you between 150k to 250k depending on your machine. |

Autos › What Your "2007 Most Exclusive Sedan Car" by Jdesigns(op): 9:17am On Dec 24, 2007 |
I sat down in my car today actually thinking about cars when a Toyota Camry 2007 model halted beside me in the traffic. mine oh mine, my love.
So my thought goes thus, "what's the 2007 most exclusive sedan car" is it; the Toyota Camry 2007 that i love to call Field-marshal because of the design and its magnificent interior.
or the Mercedes-Benz C230 2007 that you can't beat the feel
or the Honda Accord 2007 that love to boast of its exterior design saying look at me am stylist
or the Honda Civic 2007 that is competing with it own make
or the Toyota Matrix 2007 i don't even know where Toyota got the idea from
or the Toyota Yaris 2007 that looks like a car ready to run off the road saying try me i wouldn't bite
or the Volkswagen Passat fsi 2007 that is off the hook
or the Nissan Maxima 2007 that makes you feel great
well if i continue like this the naming will never end because there are endless list of wonderful and exclusive sedan cars. But as for me, you should know my "2007 most exclusive sedan car" it goes to
TOYOTA CAMRY: the king of all cars, the Field-marshal himself.
its left to you to let us know what your "2007 most exclusive sedan car" is. |

aime: my boss says i drive like a bus driver but then i tell him that is the way to survive in Lagos .all the times i was being a good driver, i was a victim of LASTMA.When i served in Abuja, i was amazed that sanity prevailed on the roads there;nearly gave some drivers heart attacks because i was driving like a lagosian.took me a while to become sane . diyobdw: Lagos driving ! what more can one say
you know the crazy part is that after awhile u tend to adopt the lunatic driving style.Remember a friend that return home last summer after driving in Lagos for few week - like the saying goes "if a leaf stays too long with soap it will become soapy"- he got back to yankee and got into troubles with traffic offenses. my advice to Lagos drivers that travels else where AVOID DRIVING FOR A WHILE SO THAT THE BAD BLOOD WILL BE OUT OF YOUR SYSTEM BEFORE YOU START DRIVING IN THE NEW PLACE else you become a NUISANCE. |
