Living on the land was like a paradise cause we never bought palm oil or fish and meat there was always abundance at a very cheap price from my hausa brothers land acquisitions was 200k for all of us about 50 persons we donate 7500 every year and give to our landlord that was the fee irrigation system on this land was cheap cause the river flows through almost every farm

The picture above was taken last year at the river when we went fishing the only problem facing the local farmers in the area is herdsmen destroying their crops when they are not around as I type to you now all the farmers have left this beautiful land if only two investors can employ the services of just 10 security men and invest in on this land this place will become the next biggest tourist center in nigeria I onced lived on this land in fact most of the things I owned were gotten from the land

Due to my love and passion for farming that made me to quit my job in Kano to focus on my farm biz and my quest for the best land to farm on I discovered a land in kogi state where agricultural activities can be carried out very easily this land is on more than 500 hectares it has a flowing stream that never dries even during dry seasons it has both upland and water logged areas where rice and plantain can flourish through out the year it has palm trees scattered around the land

This can be achieved because the standard planting distance for maize is 25 cm between holes and 75 cm between rows with this planting distance 55000-,75000 plants can be achieved per hectare now if you are planting during the dry seasons using irrigation you will be likely to harvest 50000 cobs of maize and by selling each cob at the price of 20naira you are likely to make 2million yeah you heard me now imagine that you plant on 10 hectares you know what it means

The yield of maize in nigeria is always as low as 2 tons - 3,4 tons with this tell me how nigeria will ever stop importing food to feed our large growing population that's increasing on daily basis did y'all know that with a good functional irrigation system it's very possible to make as much as 2million naira from a hectare of land through maize farming; this might sounds too good to be true but it can even be more than that keep reading ask questions where you are not clear

Either daily weekly or monthly depending on the stage (s) and this can only be achieved with irrigation cause with irrigation system you will be applying water to your crops when it's needed at the time it is needed either evening or morning with this food security will be achieved take a look at it like for instance other countries where irrigation farming is common farmers harvest as much as 10 tons of maize per hectare but when last did you heard that such is achieved in nigeria
Agriculture / Why Nigeria Farming System Is The Worst by JeAgro477(m): 10:17pm On Mar 24, 2021
The nigeria rain dependant farming system is the worst cause there's no guarantee of a bountiful harvest it's more of a game of luck and gambling as rain is not predictable and with this system of farming it will be very hard for nigeria as a country to achieve food security unless investors steps into the sector and replace the traditional system with irrigation system this is because each and every crop requires certain amount of water at specific periods of time

Thanks, but will glyphosate not be injurious to the plants?

I think glyphosate drifts and the droplets can be injurious to the plant more so when watermelon is a crawling plant. How do you navigate the constraint?

Thanks

you are to apply the glyphosate before planting
