The clerk of the National Assembly is the most senior civil servant in the National Assembly. Basically he is the head of the National Assembly bureaucracy. He is appointed by the National Assembly Service Commission from among the civil servants that work at the National Assembly.

The current clerk of the National Assembly was appointed in November last year. There was some controversy when he was appointed because some people say that he was the 6th most senior civil servant at the National Assembly at the time and that the National Assembly Service Commission skipped 5 people in order to appoint him.
