Career / Re: Should I Stop Work And Do A Masters Programme? by Jehu: 6:36pm On Jul 16, 2017
Hi Sis.
I feel your concerns. My advice.
Don't quit your current job, that's your ace.
Try an affordable online MBA that is both rich & internationally acclaimed.
Currently running mine with the American Business & Technology University. Google it and check out their Course contents. You can even key into a scholarship scheme that reduces cost by about 50% - 70%

Best of luck as you seek to improve yourself.

I think we are coming up gradually,fashion-wise. The blend of formal with not too formal looks.
And concerning the ladies in black whose cloths are rumpled. The cloths were actually ironed when you look at the edges,I reason the rumple is as a result of them sitting too long in a car and carrying stuffs on their laps.
Politics / Re: Hausa-Fulanis Are Indigenes Of Jos– Passali by Jehu: 8:16pm On Sep 26, 2011
It is interesting to note that what the Hausa/Fulani can not condone in their territory is what they demand elsewhere.
Is it the jihadist conquering take-all propensity of the Fulanis that is still grossly influencing them?

When, in Nigerian history, have they ever granted indigenous status to other ethnic groups in their land. Yet, they go to other territories and cause anarchy there, re-writing histories they know next to nothing about and proliferating their bovine tendencies.

How long have they been accommodated by every ethnic group in this country?

They come humbly and in a servile manner looking for odd jobs and seeking employment; but no sooner they settle down and are made to feel at home, they begin by creating a 'Sabo', appointing a 'Seriki', building a mosque, appointing an Imam, and very soon after three or four generations they want an Emir who will want to participate in local politics.

Until they embrace civility and behave like humans by respecting their hosts and his culture/tradition, punishment and retribution will ever be their lot.

Everyday may be for the thief but a day will be for the owner of the house, and that day is less one, today.
Career / ‘miracle’ Promotion: Army Officer Awaiting Retirement Elevated To Major General by Jehu: 7:27am On Aug 21, 2011
Major General Bako, a Course 24 regular intake of the Nigeria Defence Academy, after enlistment, progressed through the approved channels of promotions and postings until he became a Brigadier General in the Finance Corp where he served, not necessarily by choice since he had originally wanted to be in the Artillery Corps.

All along, the senior officer, who was the Director of Finance and Accounts at Defence Headquarters before his promotion, was reputed to have shunned matters of corruption and carried out his duties strictly in accordance with the dictates of whichever office he found himself at particular times.

He was said to have been very strict with the rules and when there was money remaining from projects or operations, he readily declared such to the chagrin of his superiors, colleagues or the establishment as the case may be.

Being the very strict Christian that he is, nobody found him stepping out of line on matters bordering on diverting funds and engaging in other self-enrichment dealings to the detriment of the Nigerian Army.

But in spite of his clean record in this regard, this fine officer soon found himself faced with retirement as a Brigadier General for reasons other than the fact that he has remained steadfast and righteous in the discharge of his duty.

Therefore, the unexpected elevation of Bako to the rank of Major General by President Goodluck Jonathan based on the recommendation of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Onyeabor Azubuike Ihejirika, in mid-year, the first of its kind in the annals of the Nigeria Army, has been severally described as a miracle, something only common in the civil society.

His promotion elicited tears and excitement from officers and soldiers because they said he is someone who will ensure everybody gets what is due to him or her no matter the rank.

It would be recalled that Bako who got promoted from Colonel to Brigadier General on July 11, 2006, was awaiting the collection of his retirement letter last December.

His fellow Brigadier-General colleagues spent only two years on that rank before being elevated to the rank of Major-General. His retirement letter was kept in abeyance and when a letter eventually came, it was that of a promotion.

Nairaland / General / Mtn 10 Year Largesse ! by Jehu: 8:45pm On Aug 09, 2011
My People,
GEJ gave this remark on FB celebrating 10 years of the Communication Revolution in Nigeria -
As we mark ten years of GSM mobile services this week, it is heartening that Nigeria has grown from less than a million lines to over 90 million lines with 70% of Nigerians having access to phones. It cost 150,000 Naira to get connected before 2001. Today it takes 100 Naira. This result came about from the liberalization of the communication sector which is what this administration plans to replicate in the power sector with the Roadmap to Power Sector Reforms. GEJ

Politics / Re: If Nigeria Divides, What Happens To The Christians In The North? by Jehu: 1:18pm On May 21, 2011
Religion is not the problem, neither is division the Solution.

The problems from my own perspective are -

1.  The Divisive propensities of our Elites, who play on religion, ethnicity, etc to create confusion in other to fan their
    selfish ambitions in to flame.

2.  Ignorance and lack of enlightenment on the part of the masses, who believe anything they are instigated with.

The solutions, I believe can be, first, restructuring our political system along socio-cultural climes

For example, Nigeria should retain its Federal Republic status and geo-political sovereignty, with a President and Council of Ministers., Bi-camera legislation, Federal Judiciary and some of the items on the Exclusive legislative listing devolved to the regions.

Instead of 36 states, let's have 6 geo-political regions/provinces with a Governor-General as Head, a Unicameral legislature and Parliamentary system of Govt.

In each Region/Province, let's have 12 States along Socio-cultural lines with Governors as Head, just like we have them, now, only smaller.

And in each State, let's have 12 Local Governments with Mayors as Heads, like our Current LGAs, only now larger.

And 12 Districts/Municipalities/Counties within each Local Government headed by Chairmen, which will now be the most basic Governmental structure (grassroot) to the people with Town Halls and everyone knowing everybody.

Say, what do you all think?

Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature,
nor do the children of men as a whole experience it.
Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure.
Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing.
To keep our faces toward change and behave like free spirits

You are a free being, girl friend.

If you believe you are worth more than being a victim to a coward whose ego has been so overly punctured by his environment and who has recently come to the conclusion of finding a release in taking it out on his supposed 'loved one' who has also failed to understand him, you.
Make up your mind, abandon him in his sorry state, and flow with the wind; but you would have created a monster on the loose.

Else, if you believe you can truly love this guy, and not taunt him.
If you can be his refuge and home, and not his mirror.
If you can command his respect for you and not demand it.
If you can make him to be confident in himself and his achievements.
If you can make him important before others, and play your role down.
If you can make him an entrepreneur and not an employee.
If you can sacrifice your life for his.
Then you've gained a soul and made a better husband, father, brother, son, neighbor and citizen.

More so, you've created Love. Be wise, Sister.

Life is not measured by what we get, but truly by what we give.

Events / Bp Oil Spill In New Mexico. by Jehu: 12:38am On Jul 24, 2010
THAT OIL SPILL
The BP oil well in the Gulf of Mexico is a disaster to us all wherever we live on the planet and more than likely will have an effect on our lives for years to come, either environmentally or economically. It is now supposed to be capped and safe (fingers crossed) but if this engineer is right, this is truly a scary scenario! Although his story (unverified) is somewhat dated, it makes interesting reading,
"Heard you mention the oil disaster in the Gulf of Mexico this morning, and you (and most everyone else except maybe US talk show host George Noory) are totally missing the boat on how big and bad a disaster this is.
First fact, the original estimate was about 5,000 gallons of oil a day spilling into the ocean. Now they're saying 200,000 gallons a day. That's over a million gallons of crude oil a week!
I'm an engineer with 25 years of experience. I've worked on some big projects with big machines. Maybe that's why this mess is so clear to me.
First, the BP platform was drilling for what they call deep oil. They go out where the ocean is about 5,000 feet deep and drill another 30,000 feet into the crust of the earth. This it right on the edge of what human technology can do. Well, this time they hit a pocket of oil at such high pressure that it burst all of their safety valves all the way up to the drilling rig and then caused the rig to explode and sink. Take a moment to grasp the import of that. The pressure behind this oil is so high that it destroyed the maximum effort of human science to contain it.
When the rig sank it flipped over and landed on top of the drill hole some 5,000 feet under the ocean.
Now they've got a hole in the ocean floor, 5,000 feet down with a wrecked oil drilling rig sitting on top of is spewing 200,000 barrels of oil a day into the ocean. Take a moment and consider that, will you!
First they have to get the oil rig off the hole to get at it in order to try to cap it. Do you know the level of effort it will take to move that wrecked oil rig, sitting under 5,000 feet of water? That operation alone would take years and hundreds of millions to accomplish. Then, how do you cap that hole in the muddy ocean floor? There just is no way. No way.
On the longer-term side of things, there are signs that this largest oil drilling catastrophe could also become the worst natural gas and climate disaster. The explosion has released tremendous amounts of methane from deep in the ocean, and research shows that methane, when mixed with air, is the most powerful (read: terrible) greenhouse gas — 26 times worse than carbon-dioxide. Our warming planet just got a lot hotter.
The only piece of human technology that might address this is a nuclear bomb. I'm not kidding. If they put a nuke down there in the right spot it might seal up the hole. Nothing short of that will work.
If we can't cap that hole that oil is going to destroy the oceans of the world. It only takes one quart of motor oil to make 250,000 gallons of ocean water toxic to wildlife. Are you starting to get the magnitude of this?
We're so used to our politicians creating false crises to forward their criminal agendas that we aren't recognizing that we're staring straight into possibly the greatest disaster mankind will ever see. Imagine what happens if that oil keeps flowing until it destroys all life in the oceans of this planet. Who knows how big of a reservoir of oil is down there.
Not to mention that the oceans are critical to maintaining the proper oxygen level in the atmosphere for human life.
Unless God steps in and fixes this.  No human can.  You can be sure of that!

So I thought too. But apart from the norms of procreation, entertainment & companionship

What is the true use of sex in marriage? Is it meant for more than this 3.
Why is it that some upon marriage blossom into goodness while others crash into obscurity?
Some stumble on eternal principles and by it become succesful.

What did I cook?

Does the situation in this country afford anyone the time or resources to really cook anything reasonable or worthy of mention on net.

Things are so 'damn' nutted up that it's ridiculous engaging in that past time - cooking; what we mostly do now is eat-out or allow the pot to generate something eat-able.

In the genealogy of Jesus Christ as reflected in the Books of Matthew and Luke.
Jesus was reputed to have descended from the line of King David through Joseph his father.

If Jesus was in fact begotten through immaculate conception, how come his birth-line is traced
through the man that was not acclaimed as his actual Dad?

Was Jesus actually begotten through immaculate conception or is Joseph the carpenter his true Dad ?

Hi Guys,

The NOUN stuff is real and improving by the day.
A whole lot of resources has been put on the line, so they have nothing to do but to succeed.

My inquiry from the Lagos Study Centre says the Admission process will be through by September ending.

Interestingly, their site is going through upgrading and maybe this development will make them extend their sale of Application forms.

You all need to see the number of people buying forms at ECOBANK, VI branch; it's as if that's the last chance for those who have given up.

So, guys, let's encourage them along. Constructive criticism is appreciated by them too. smiley

Remember, what starts bad, often ends well.[flash=200,200][/flash]

@ Rilla64
Would have loved to know if you are male or female,

. . . Well, my answer

"Marriage is like a besieged fortress; those outside want to get in, and those in want to get out"

The norm in our society is that all should get married in their mid 20s, have all the children before 50, retire before 60 and die after 70.

The real question is Why marriage ? Most rush into it; and some rush out, others stumble and wobble through it, while others happen on the secret and make heaven out of it.

So, what's all these fuss about getting married, when there is little or no educational structure to prepare people for it.

I think we need to address the reason for marriage.

Religion does not have it.

Tradition has a part of it

Modernisation is loosing it all.

Let's find it and not just run blind folded into an enchanted dark castle
