An embattled judge in Cross River State, Bassey Ebuta, has urged the National Judicial Council, NJC, to review the compulsory retirement order slammed on him.

He also appealed to the council to take a second look at the petition which it relied upon to hand him the retirement.

The embattled judge made the appeal in an interview with PREMIUM TIMES in Calabar on Wednesday.

Mr. Ebuta explained that he had responded to the allegations leveled against him with proofs and insisted that the NJC’s decision was harsh on him.

Mr. Ebuta also stressed that he needed no further proof to show that he sat in the open court with the petitioner in the Suit No HC/MSC.286/2014, as attested to by the petitioner, Mrs. Cobham, in her prayers 18 and 19.

Nigeria, which recently lost its Africa’s top oil producer status to Angola on the back of huge decline in its output, stands a chance of losing some of its traditional buyers to rival producers such as Iran and Saudi Arabia, industry experts have said.

Following the spate of production disruptions largely caused by the recent upsurge in militant attacks on oil infrastructure in the Niger Delta that have cut Nigeria’s output to the lowest in almost three decades, exports of the commodity from the country have taken a serious beating.

The nation relies heavily on earnings from oil exports, and the production cuts come as an additional headache for an economy that is already suffering from the sharp drop in oil prices since 2014.

Currently, four of the nation’s five largest export streams have been totally suspended as Forcados, Qua Iboe, Bonny Light and Brass River are under force majeure – a legal clause that allows the exporters to stop shipments without breaching contracts.

Following reports that a danfo driver was beaten to death by a police officer, the police have denied the allegation

According to reports, the late danfo driver identified as 46-year-old Muyiwa Ijaduola, who was allegedly killed by a police officer over bribe, died from an epilepsy attack.

The driver who was identified by an ID card found on him, was said to be a staff of the department of works of Joseph Ayo Babalola university. He had reportedly picked passengers from Iyana-Iba to Isheri, and had stopped at Igando after he was accosted by two policewomen who demanded for N2,000 from him. Late Ijaduola reportedly offered them N300 instead, after they refused to take the money, he reportedly promised to give them more money if they’d let him return on another trip.

If you have diabetes, what I’m about to share with you in this post could prevent you from having a premature heart attack, save your eyesight, kidneys, legs, and nerves—even save your life.

What are refined carbohydrates? Refined carbohydrates are all foods in packaged food products such as:

– All categories of soft drinks

– Biscuits, short breads, white breads, wheat bread, crackers.

– All snacks made of flour whether baked, roasted, smoked, or fried.
