A member of the team of Nigeria’s leading opposition leader and the 2027 presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, Ada Ogbu, has faulted the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, over the controversy surrounding CCTV footage released in connection with the airport parking incident involving the former Anambra State governor.

Ogbu made the remarks in a statement posted on her X account, formerly Twitter, insisting that she was part of the team that accompanied Obi to the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on Saturday, July 4.

“As a member of the team that accompanied His Excellency Peter Obi to the Abuja airport on Saturday, July 4, I can state categorically that he does not have a police officer as his driver in Abuja,” she said.

She argued that if the airport’s CCTV footage captured a police officer entering the driver’s seat of a vehicle, then the vehicle in question could not have belonged to Obi.

Ogbu further stated that Obi travels through several airports across Nigeria every week and alleged that he and members of his team have repeatedly experienced hostile treatment from airport personnel at different locations.

She also maintained that, based on Keyamo’s own account, the incident Obi referenced during his interview with media entrepreneur Chude Jideonwo was different from the one cited by the minister.

According to Ogbu, the two incidents occurred at different times and locations, insisting that they should not be presented as the same event.

Her statement adds a fresh dimension to the growing public dispute over the airport incident, as supporters and critics continue to debate the circumstances surrounding the release of the CCTV footage and the treatment of the opposition leader.
