Continuation...

The hall was half filled with chief garba at the forefront.

"so many people in this shit" i thought to myself.

Who are you? He asked after recovering from his shock.

I scanned the windows and noticed the two reporters were already covering the scenery, oblivious to those present in the hall.

"i want in" i replied smiling.

"kill that idiot" The chief shouted.

Someone stood up and faced me. It turned out to be the SSS director, he smiled before shooting me in the chest and i fell..
"Let's get out of here" the chief said into the microphone

TINU
I placed a call to the IG and gave him the description to our location.
"You ain't going nowhere" I shouted as i entered into the hall with my team, i shot at the man with the gun before proceeding to the front of the hall. Except for few of the military men present, most of them were old men with potbelly so they gave us no problem while we awaited the squad i asked the IG of police to send.

Justice was finally served...

THREE WEEKS LATER...
JAMES

When i got outside the prison facility and saw ayo and tinu standing by my car, i thought something was amiss. But when tinu jumped on me and in excitement, i knew something good was cooking.

"Welcome back to freedom bro" Ayo squeaked with excitement.

The election was postponed... The raid exposed lots of notable people. The mass imprisonment made the police force ranking obsolete. Lots of senior and junior officers were thrown behind bars.
Chief garba was sentenced to life in prison
All companies related to D & C pharmaceuticals was closed down
Carlos was thrown in a prison in mexico, it was a life sentence while musa bagged ten years because of his cooperation.

Tinu said we once rescued carlos from death although i don't remember him.

Unfortunately for ayo who was the main man in the whole saga, The director was the only person in the plot from the State security service. He only moved a rank higher than his previous ranking while my own promotion skyrocketed although he was named a special agent and was honored as an "officer of the order of niger" OON.

I sent my mum and sister out of the country to prevent them from any form of danger since those related to the people in prison may decide to come after me. Only i knew that my family is my Achilles heel.

My mother was not eager to leave the country but tolu helped me convince her of the necessity.
Mum said a lot of things, but what kept resounding in my ears was the last statement she made on our way to the airport. "Your father will be proud wherever he is"

I got married to Tinu few months after they traveled, my mom was the happiest that day....

THE END.

EPISODE THIRTY-EIGHT

AYO
Carlos was stripped of his clothings before been dropped in an abandoned property tinu claimed to be her father's. There was no escape for him as he was tied naked to the pillar in the sitting room of the apartment.

I placed a call to a TV station that belonged to a friend. I had decided to end everything at once, The TV station was located in lagos so we had no reason to stall our journey, we only stopped to pick them up when we got to lagos, the nature of the job was unknown to the two reporters.
Musa was made to sit in the back of the van we took to prevent anyone from recognizing him.

I used carlos phone to send a message to chief garba, i wanted to deceive him that musa was dead but on a second thought i texted him thus
"I'm coming back to lagos with musa, he said he has something to tell you, with the urgency in his voice. I think it must be important"

The only reply chief garba gave two seconds after was "okay"

The journey took less than two hours, I gave my bulletproof vest to one of the reporters while tinu gave her own to the other. Fear was expressed on their faces but i calmed them down. Everyone of us tightened the silencer on our guns and dressed up for the kill.

When we took the last turn, musa was made to sit in front while i took the wheels.
The place was not located inside a bush neither was it an underground facility, it was located in an hotel.
We had no trouble entering the main gate of the hotel but we were stopped when we got to the Gate behind the hotel, The architect that drew the plan of the house was obviously a veteran in the business, the way the two buildings was sewn into eachother and the entire anonymity of the building behind the hotel was a wonder.

"Musa, how is the day?" The gateman asked staring into my eyes directly.

"It's always bright" musa replied smiling.

"is the chief expecting you?" The man asked again, and who is this man? He added.

"he is expecting me and that man is Carlos's trusted driver" musa answered.

"where is carlos? He needs to identify the man himself" The gateman voiced out.

"he is sleeping, and i know you won't want to wake him up" musa replied with a large grin n his face.

"okay" The man muttered as he pressed a button on his wristwatch.

I accessed the compound before driving in, there was just a limousine and two bouncers with AK 4 7 rifles by the door, also there was only one gateman, who was the one we met outside which meant the gate could only be opened from where he was. Another thing was the structure of the building, it was built like a mini events hall and i deduced that it should be able to accommodate close to a thousand people.

I signaled at musa to get down and move towards the two bouncers after I parked the car beside the limousine. "get them occupied" i whispered.

"I'll take down the dark-skinned one while you take the other one out" i whispered to tinu. "and make sure you don't kill them but they must be neutralized and don't hit musa" i added.

Tinu opened the back door and stepped out, i was still on my seat. immediately the two guys noticed her and raised their guns, i shot one of them in the hand, i made sure it was the one he used in holding his gun. Tinu also did the same, before they could recover, she ran towards them and knocked them out.

We entered the building and i saw the shock of my life...

EPISODE THIRTY SEVEN

Ayo half walked and half ran towards musa, when he heard Carlos was not bleeding. He placed his right hand on the side of his neck where he felt a pulse.

"He's alive" Ayo said excitedly, "He's wearing a kevlar vest"

"Am I free to go now"? Musa asked, refusing to comment on ayo's earlier statement.

"No, you ain't going nowhere" Ayo replied. "You stay here with me until the backup I sent for arrives" he added.

"OK" just make sure you keep to your words" musa muttered.

"Of course, I will keep to my word, we promised you a lenient punishment, and a lenient punishment you shall get" Ayo replied as he bent down to search Carlos unconscious body.

As he placed his hands inside Carlos pocket, a notification tone sounded. There was nothing on Carlos body, yet he could not decipher where the notification sound came from.

Was that sound from your phone? He said aloud, directing his gaze at musa, who was already seated on the bed.

"No" my phone fell down the other time, and it went off" musa answered.

"But I already checke...d my", Ayo was saying when his attention was drawn to a phone under the plastic chair adjacent to him.

"who owns this" He asked.

"It may be Carlos's" musa replied almost immediately.

Ayo was about pressing the power button on the phone when another notification was heard, the phone's backlight came on and two new messages notification was displayed.

Ayo clicked on it,
"The meeting is about to start, I hope you've not encountered any difficulty in your assignment, reply this message asap"

The second message was brief and precise
"The meeting is underway, and we are only spending two hours here.
Ayo noticed the sender's number was saved as boss.

Who is the boss? He asked musa.

"The boss should be chief garba" musa replied feigning annoyance.

Have you been to the meeting before? Ayo asked again.

"Yes" musa replied, shrugging his shoulders.

Is it the regular place for any meeting? he added.

"yes" we only have one meeting place. musa replied.

"You'll take me.." Ayo was replying when Tinu entered with her team.

"You will take us there" He rephrased.

Where is he taking us? Tinu asked

"The real culprit's location" he replied. But we need to drop this hitman somewhere safe and secure. Ayo added, pointing a finger at Carlos.

I know somewhere...tinu replied.

So students are now being issued their own car parks and they mustn't park anywhere else?

How will they move between halls, labs and theaters?

Or is it not the same Lautech where faculties, departments, lecture halls, theaters and laboratories were built miles apart for no tangible reason?

And the road is either dusty or bushy.

Even the so called faculties are bungalows, not to talk of the departments.

The only high-rise building in that school is the Senate building and one or two other ones located close to 1,500 lecture theater.

Osun and Oyo states, spend money on your school, instead of building new universities and polytechnics that will only end up more underfunded than Lautech.

That school is an embarrassment and is not even living up to its name.

Lautech is supposed to be a great school and the cynosure of all eyes, not this nonsense that the governments of Osun and Oyo states, right from the days of Akala/Oyinola of PDP to that of Aregbesola/Ajimobi of APC have turned it into.

Yeye dey smell.
Which lautech are you talking about?

Episode Thirty Six.
Part Two....

AYO

Immediately i walked into the corridor that led to the room where musa was kept, I heard gunshots. I immediately bent down as i tried to locate the source of the shot since no one was in the corridor. In the process of doing so i noticed a sharp pain in my left arm. I quickly ran back without raising my head. I had been hit, but it was a scratch.

Carlos gently closed the door after Ayo ran back, he had shot at him from a very tight position.
He was just about opening the door to musa's room when he heard drastic footsteps coming up the stairs, luckily for him the next room was open when he turned the knob. He only needed to place his middle finger on his lips before the occupant of the room could shout, although it was the gun he was holding that scared the man.

He quickly resumed his assault on the door lock but not without straining his ears to pick out any sound. He knew it was a matter of time before the police arrives, the gunshot would have alerted the hotel occupants...

Ayo listened carefully to detect any sound, but he heard nothing. He brought out his phone and sent a message to musa, before sending another message to tinu.

Carlos slowly looked into the room after successfully opening the door. There was no one in the room. "Nigerians are now smarter" he thought to himself as he turned to exit the room and that was when he heard a sound, it was from the room...

MUSA
The phone fell to the ground immediately I finished flashing ayo' s mobile number. I kept quiet until I heard someone knock on the bathroom door.

AYO
I walked briskly but slowly trying not to make any sound. It was a gamble but it was a risk I had to take. I had sent musa a message, told him to flash my number once Carlos entered the room.

Just as I got to the door, i heard a muffled gunshot sounding like a suppressed cough. I ran into the room and opened fire on Carlos, I sent three quick shots into his chest. My belief was that he already killed musa... He fell backwards, hitting his head on the window frame before dropping to the ground.

My attention was drawn to the locked bathroom door. That was when I noticed my mistake, musa was still alive.

"Musa" I called out.

"I'm in here" he answered....

I opened the bathroom door and let musa out before dropping my gun on the chair.

‘‘Is he dead'' musa asked

''Yes, he is" I replied.

"But he is not bleeding" musa voiced out again....

Episode Thirty Six
Part one..

I offered little resistance as my hands were placed behind my back and cuffed. I was only praying the judge's verdict on my offence will be lenient, and no matter how long the prison term is, i'll locate Ayo and strangle his neck before killing myself. As much as I tried to look tough, a tear escaped my two eyes. I smiled at ayo and the fear his face portrayed made me happy. His betrayal was out of this world and I'll make him pay.

AYO...

The way James stared at me and how he smiled made me more afraid but I knew if things work accordingly, the decoy was still the best bet if he wanted to live.
The SSS encountered a little problem at the gate of the hotel as a team of elite policemen came in at that instant. I smiled when I discovered they were in the hotel to arrest james. They had no choice than to let them go after their leader placed a call to someone.
I noticed the way James looked at the team leader, she didn't say a word before she went back to their vehicle, James also appeared dumbstruck before he was led into the SSS vehicle and driven off.
Before the police vehicle could leave, I quickly approached them and requested to see their leader.
She came down almost immediately. I noticed she was in a bad mood and went straight to the point, I told her I was an SSS agent and needed her number, she gave me the number after confirming my identity with my ID card.
meanwhile, while coming out of the hotel, I saw a foreigner going through a newspaper, there was nothing suspicious about him but according to musa's description, every oyinbo was a suspect at that moment.

CARLOS...

I observed the little drama that just played itself outside, although it delayed my plan, I had to call chief garba immediately. I updated him about the situation and he seemed okay with the situation, he assured me the SSS was ours too.
I dropped the newspaper in my hand on the table before going up the stairs.

AYO...
As I entered into the hotel, I noticed the foreigner in the reception was no longer there. I quickly jogged up the stairs as it was only a matter of time before the man will breach the door to the room although I locked it from outside....

Episode thirty five

Immediately musa dialled Carlos's number, ayo excused himself and left the room. I studied the expression on musa's face after he said all what we directed him to say, His face did not betray any emotions and I was sure our little plan worked.
Did he sound skeptical? I asked him.
No, he was suspicious at first but he later sounded convinced after I told him my location.
Okay, just pray everything works out, in my interest and yours too. I replied.

CARLOS...

Nigerians will always be stupid. He said to no one in particular as he hurriedly arranged his tools in a backpack, he only paused to place a call to chief garba in the process.

TINU...

Yes sir, I'm on my way to Ogun state...
Are you alone? The voice sounded from the other end in reply to her previous answer.
No sir, I brought some of our elite officers along, four of them sir.
Okay,The person in question is dangerous, so it's not necessary he's apprehended alive, if you need to shoot him...please do so. The person ordered.
Aye sir, she said into the phone before terminating the call. She suspected some foul play as she knew James was not the violent type, besides having followed the case since it was brought into limelight, she knew it was a blackmail. And all her efforts to reach James proved abortive.

Her contacts all over the country could not locate him until recently when the present AIG placed a call to the oyo state police command and gave them James location, how he got the information and why she was given the order to apprehend him remained a mystery, but from all her experiences while working with the AIG when he was the plateau state commissioner of police, she knew he behaved like a snake.
And Having risen through the ranks and knowing how corrupt the police is, she decided to lead the team that will arrest James, she believed he will not hide anything from her...that is if James is not what they say he is now.

CHIEF GARBA...

I did as you instructed, I've placed a call to the AIG, The police are on their way to that hotel. once they are almost there, you will be informed, until then proceed as planned. Musa must be silenced when you see him, we don't know if he's being brainwashed yet, the only edge we have over that policeman is his ignorance of our involvement in the situation. So make good use of that.
There will be a final meeting early in the morning tomorrow before the election holds.
Chief garba read the message again before clicking on the send option.

AYO WILLIAMS...

He rubbed his earlobe continuously, it was a common thing in his behaviour whenever he felt nervous. He made up his mind and called the nearest SSS office. He told them in plain words James location and the room where he will be found.
He returned the phone to the operator before paying for the minutes he spent on the call.
He proceeded back to the hotel and prayed his plan ends up as a success...

What is Ayo's plan?
What is tinu's plan?
What is Carlos's plan?
It's a clash of ideas and somebody's plan is meant to work out

EPISODE THIRTY FOUR

Where do we go from here? I asked ayo.
Another hotel of course, we can't afford to be caught at this critical moment, he replied.

By the time we got to the hotel, musa was already awake. I made him believe the only way his punishment could be minimal was for him to cooperate with us.
From the expression on his face, I believed he wouldn't be a hard nut to crack, although he refused to say anything.

Getting into the hotel was an easy process, Ago booked the hotel for himself, Before coming out to tell us the room number. Musa was the one who talked with the receptionist before our identity was confirmed by ayo after they called his room.

All this while, I could not help but wonder why musa cooperated with us. Deep down inside me, I did not trust him although ayo seemed to have no issue with his behavior.

I had just freshened up when ayo called my attention to an headline on the television. The kidnap of musa was reported and my picture was posted alongside the article. They claimed I was a suspect in the kidnapping and it was likely musa was my accomplice and I was trying to cover my tracks. Immediately, I knew it was the handiwork of the Dpo and his cohorts. Since he was a policeman. He must have suspected I saw the last message on his phone, so in a bid to cover his tracks and that of his organization, they decided to sell out musa.

It was not until the following morning before musa spoke. We had used lots of tactics which had no effect on him until ayo examined his phone and found pictures of his family on it. That was what broke him after ayo threatened to harm them.
He gave a detailed information about the organization, the head of the organization who happened to be a presidential aspirant and the favourite to win the election, how lots of pharmaceutical companies were retailers and how they murdered the former AIG of police. I was not surprised although ayo was skeptical and didn't want to believe.
Chief garba is a well respected personality, he voiced out.

Wait until you have the name of your other well respected personalities. Musa replied.

We asked him who carried out all those killings, he told us it was a foreigner who was loyal to the presidential aspirant.
All this he told us with hopes of getting a lenient punishment for his crimes. We collected the phone number of Carlos, as he called the hitman.
After brainstorming on how to end everything at once. Since it was just days to the election, and once chief garba wins, the immunity on all Office holders might prevent us from bringing him to justice.

Call him with this phone, and tell him our location. I said as I handed over the phone to musa...
