Politics / Sai Buhari Why by jicey: 10:26am On Jul 08, 2015
SAI BUHARI WHY?

Why did you call Germany, West Germany and her Prime Minister, President?

Why has the naira so depreciated against the dollars, when will it be at par with dollars?

Do you know you are now been called President Buhari, baba one chance and baba go slow?

Why did you transfer boko haram prisoners to Ekwulobia prison, oh, less I forget is it a policy of Federal Character principle?

Baba go slow, is Daura and the North the only place where competent and corrupt free Nigerians can be found to be appointed into your government?

Do you know that by your first 100 days in office boko haram with the current spate of killings would have done more harm than in six years under GEJ?

Why have you so disgraced the Lion of Bourdillion, why bite the finger that fed you?

Baba one chance, do you know the Lion of Ubima is suffering from mouth cancer, he has now disappeared into oblivion because you have given his nothing to talk about?

Where are the Chibok girls and her campaigners?

Why has the price of fuel increased with its availability fast disappearing?

Mr dulladinho please ask Fashina when is the fullness of time, is it when we all have been totally overrun by dede Shekau?

Did you forget you told Nigerians her economy was nose diving during your campaign, why then the rhetorics of meeting an empty treasury?

When will my graduate friends who though employable will start getting the welfare package you promised that propelled our stomach to vote for you?

Did you not promise to give my little brothers and sisters food in your free feeding policy?

Why, Why and Why have you placed Nigerians in bad light when we have barely survived the ‘There is God’ syndrome?

Why won’t you give us the Change we so idolized and voted for? Despite the Why Mr. President I believe in you, I believe in Nigeria in the #fullnessoftime. God bless Nigeria.

Politics / Vanguard Of What? by jicey: 10:34am On Jan 01, 2014
VANGUARD OF WHAT?
The year 2013 was a pack of mixed feelings with little positives within the purview of the state. A conflict ridden society has been the aftermath of some self proclaimed ‘progressives’ whose actions and inactions are precipitating the ivory tower of Africa into a dead end. Ostensibly, two classes of progressives have emerged, those who are experiencing a sort of political oblivion on one hand and those who see governance as its birthright thereby determining the framework of governance in terms of when to rule, how to rule and how much time to rule irrespective of constitutional dictates on the other hand, which all appears a dress rehearsal for 2015.

I have kept mum as events turn sour in Rivers state to which I lay legal claim to, either by virtue of residence or birth. In so many formal and informal discussions I have voiced my dismay and utter disdain at some personalities within the presidency who out of ignorance or political exuberance drags the office of the president into a quagmire. My admiration for the Governor of Rivers state stems from the fact that he poses a sort of charisma I so desire in a leader stemming from his power of oration. Unfortunately, such mastery of language seems to have overtaken his civility towards the president who by virtue of the constitution is the image of our sovereignty.

Governor Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi has suddenly realized the hemorrhaging effect of corruption within the last few months, he now appears a vanguard but for who and what am yet to get any logical answers, his constant incitement of the people against the Federal government leaves me wondering in whose benefit. The problem of Nigeria is now synonymous with a certain GEJ only recently because of some self serving interest which has been sugar coated to appear as though it were borne out of national interest. Am therefore besieged by these posers

 At what point did GEJ’s administration degenerate as espoused by OBJ
 Would GEJ have been celebrated if he had bowed to the pressure of excluding himself from 2015
 If the current crisis is about the people, is 2015 not months away?
 Is it not clear that it is the self serving interest of a few that has sustained boko haram and insecurity in the country
 Will there be a return of normalcy if GEJ permits OBJ to handpick a northern president for 2015?

I must therefore state categorically that the current crisis rocking the nation is orchestrated by such characters that appear as national messiah but are aliens within their family circuit. Am therefore worried and compelled to articulate my thoughts into writing because some Nigerians are already developing soft skin to this political abracadabra without necessarily juxtaposing it on a rational scale.

Permit me therefore to call on my esteemed Governor of Rivers state to accord the presidency the decorum it thus deserves, for as much as I know great minds discuss issues and small minds people. GEJ is not the origin of the Nigerian crisis but a victim of collective conspiracy of which you are better informed about the conspirators. My heart bleeds as I write, for I desire a country well placed within the comity of nations. Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Education / ASUU Strike: In Who's Interest by jicey: 9:45am On Sep 30, 2013
I have in all sincerity tried not to drag myself into the contentious issues that has led to the total grounding of all academic activities in government owned tertiary institutions in Nigeria but the plight of those considered the future leaders keeps questioning my sense of rationality. Although it is a truism in civil service not to question the very hand that lays the golden egg, I wish to take a quick departure by stirring the water.

Education is the very foundation that propels all society; as such there exist a corresponding relationship between education and the level of a country's development. No country has ever achieved hegemonic status or better still regional or world prominence without a conscious effort towards education.

The status of Nigeria as the giant of Africa is but a mere fallacy driven by oil. This is corroborated by recent ranking of African best universities for which Nigeria grapples to be situated at its base. Ironically, Nigeria has never featured prominently in any ranking such as democracy, human rights, standard of living or any other as may be commendable as such been defending champions on issues of corruption, underdevelopment, disease, poverty and terror comes as no surprise to most Nigerians.

The incessant strike which appears a yearly ritual based on recent studies carried out from 2010 till date has cost Nigeria students about thirty (30) months due to the ‘total’, ‘indefinite’ and ‘comprehensive’ strike embarked by ASUU over the insincerity of government in reneging on its gentleman agreement whether in 2001 or 2009. The abysmal attitude of government questions the morality upon which governance is established. The infrastructural state of our universities leaves much to be desired because most of them are mere ‘glorified secondary schools’ producing ‘certified illiterates’.

Although derogatory, it seems true that treasures are better hidden in a book for an average Nigerian which purports a near or total apathy to the culture of reading. Hence this fact established it then behooves on the government and the academia to consciously engineer a mechanism by which education is enhanced and encouraged. But the outright lip service paid by government and the sometimes irrational grounding of the Universities by ASUU renders the quest for education an exercise in futility for most Nigerian students, because they certainly are of less quality in the international labour market.

In the past 90 days the future of our country has been sacrificed on the altar of corruption and self instinct rather than been juxtaposed by the general good. The current political imbroglio ravaging the PDP and the resources dedicated towards its speedy resolution tells where our priority lies. Consequently, because the striking lecturers are still been paid or necessary would be paid within the striking period, I am therefore forced to ask who bears the brunt and in whose interest is the strike?
Politics / Power Play And The Corporate Existence Of Nigeria by jicey: 10:35am On Sep 04, 2013
POWER PLAY AND THE CORPORATE EXISTENCE OF NIGERIA
The intrigues and conspiracy theory that has enveloped the country in recent time appears to me the biggest challenge that has befallen the nation, as such not even the civil war has shook the very foundation for which the country exists. This pitiable development alluded by many as a purported prediction of the US that by 2015 the country will cease to exist preoccupies the minds of some analyst in discussing the current political scenario, a claim the US has vehemently rebuffed. Supposing this assertion is true, does it therefore mean that Nigeria politics is dependent on the prediction of another country? No matter how super the US claims to be. Lest I forget, since Nigeria without an outta of doubt is an indivisible element in African politics does this not paint a picture of a continent existing to advancing the interest of a super power?

I will therefore not align myself with an ill ideology of superstitious western power but analyze the current political turbulence within the Nigeria context.

Politics in Nigeria is a game and the fiercest in Africa and the world at large; which is not based on ideology of good governance but on religion and ethnic sentiments. Thus religion and ethnic interest has been the most determinant factor pioneered by the Peoples Democratic Party, the self acclaimed largest party in Africa. I may therefore subscribe to its claims as the largest party in Africa because Nigeria is the largest country in Africa and not for its party ideals as espoused in its constitution. I have never been enraged by political happenings in Nigeria as now. The grand stage of this crisis was set by the demise of late President Umaru Musa Yar’dua which tested the viability of the existing de facto formula of zoning. Constitutionally, at the demise or incapacitation of the President, the vice president fills the void. The practicability of this became so ambiguous and needed the doctrine of necessity to come into force. This for some sage thinkers was a clear indication of the present topsy turvy state of the polity.

The power play negotiates Nigeria political power within two poles of north and south and the apparent disorder of this political arrangement lays with it the emergence and balkanization of political parties in Nigeria. In its special convention of August 31st 2013, the overriding interest of greed predicated on ethnic sentiment took center stage as who becomes the next President divided the party along sharp divide. Some Governors in northern Nigeria with an insignificant puppet southern element seen to be fighting perceived northern cause alongside its cronies and godfathers are gradually aggravating the country into a pitiable end. But the assumption of these northern political gladiators of negotiating power back to the north leaves much to be desired after all, history shows it(the north) have enjoyed a larger chunk of leadership. As such the position of the Conference of Nigerian Political Parties attributing the crisis within the PDP “as God’s divine intervention to liberate the ordinary Nigeria from years of deprivation, repression and maladministration by a class that has held Nigerians captive” is a mere pigment of their false imagination.

It is pertinent therefore to note that it is an exclusive reserve of Nigerians and not a select few in Otta farm, Tinubu dynasty, power hungry Northern Elders Forum, bootlickers within the presidency nor the fisherman cum shoeless to foist on us who becomes the next president. The feasibility of the eventual existence of Nigeria as a corporate entity comes under a cloudy shadow except these ‘greedy old fellows’ regarded as elder statesmen within the PDP and APC sheathe no more their sword but inordinate ambition of looting our nation’s treasury, then an anti climax becomes an inevitable result.
Politics / Re: Kano To Include Christians In Mass Weddings. by jicey: 8:16am On Aug 24, 2013
I read this article trying to grasp the idea behind mass marriage in a society where poverty is the order of the day. This not withstanding a careful look shows there exist the feeling of 'we' and 'them' supposing a sharp difference between the muslims and christains in Kano state.
The reason y poverty still exists in Nig is not lack of resources but lack of priority. This singular event of mass marriage wud increase the dependent population in Kano and Nigeria in general.
I pity Nigeria youths for been a vehicle for propagating religious and ethnic hate.

The meeting between ASUU and the FG has been rated the most anticipated. Research shows that the sales of radio, tv and newspapers have increased with a corresponding increase in price. Using the group study method, a thorough research was carried out across the thirty six states for persons of age 16-65yrs. Consequently a market survey shows the high demand for radio and Tv sets. The highest gainers in the print media includes Vanguard, ThisDay, The Sun and The Nation newspapers in reaction they hope the strike continues in other to sustain their record profit margin which in their thinking will lead to more employment. They therefore implored students to apply as no university certificate is needed. Justiniantheory.

Permit me to analyse this situation in my thinking. Read through most comments and many have questioned why the old man could not call in police or rather use d community forum. Established facts
1: the man drives a cab, means although he is a landlord he is not rich
2: he must have suffer for years to build for him to be a landlord
3: the house he set ablaze must be an uncompleted one which he is suffering to complete
4: the story said the man had tried pursuing them which the police n community option might be inclusive
5: for a poor cab landlord to burn his uncompleted upstairs purports a state in which either the state has failed or its security agencies r compromised.
This r my humble submission for which I stand corrected. Comrade Justice.

I was indeed challenged in my spirit when I read a quote from Thomas Jefferson when he rightly stated "I rather live in dangerous freedom than in a peaceful slavery". Thoughts of our nation rang bell and I tried to relate it with the comfortable state of Nigerians in the glaring reality of misery. our National Assembly not quite long passed a bill condemning same sex marriage which they did receive wide commendation from all cultured Nigerians. Basking in that euphoria of doing the right thing regardless of western nor religious ideology, we were all taken aback and expected the leadership of the National assembly to allay our fears that the purported girl child marriage was false and lacked rationality. Ironically Sen Yerima and his cohorts have decided to declare another 'Boko Haram' on girl child education by taking away the " PEN in place of PENIS". With this law that defies morality, equity and good conscience, a girl is marriageable from womb. Does this not tell a story of insanity, and shall we be imposed of the insanity of about 39 Nigerians, shall we not rise and condemn this in totality. The experiences of the Tahir square ought to be fresh in our minds. The hour has come, your voice is needed, speak up or kill the future of our daughters, sisters, wives and mothers.

Politics / NORTHERN ELDERS FORUM: NIGERIA IS OURS NOT YOURS by jicey: 11:55am On May 27, 2013
I have watched with disdain struggling to contain the many utterances of supposed elder statesmen on whose shoulders many have hinged their actions and thoughts, invariably their public disposition precipitates peace or war. The words of Karl Marx, Martin Lurther King jnr, Mahatma Gandhi and the likes of Prof Ikenna Nzimiro have all in their sphere of influence dictated some of my actions; hence to many their words form an action template that dictate their reactions to social phenomenon. Bearing in mind how words have set nations at war, the choice of word becomes an act of integrity or cowardice since such utterances have immediate and long term effects.
This piece is informed by the recent threat to peace most notably by the Northern Elders Forum (NEF) through its scribe, Prof Ango Abdullahi. It is worthy of note to state that Professor Ango is a former Vice Chancellor and by virtue of such position the apex in academic hierarchy his words should reflect intellectual sanctity. I Am therefore amazed and taken aback on the level of carelessness Prof Ango has spoken concerning the state of the Nation. It is undoubtedly clear that Nigeria is sitting on a keg of gun powder even the slightest of ‘whisper’ can set it on fire. Blurred by religious, ethnic and political sentiments he has exhibited what I can only describe as a function of ‘intellectual depreciation’. He had earlier declared that the state of present day Nigeria is as a result of the sacrifices of the north, this presupposes that its resources both human and material form the bedrock for the relative peace and development in the country. For this I question his sense of history and even current reality. The 1914 amalgamation was more of economic than political reason, the British because of the administrative cost incurred from the north decided to merge the south which had surplus resources to run the administration of the north. Local and international research has shown that Nigeria is a mono economy run on petrol dollar. I do not intend to undermine the north as no region can claim sole responsibility for the political, economic or social development in Nigeria, as resources anywhere within Nigeria’s territorial jurisdiction belongs to all and its dividend a benefit for all.
Also condemning in strong words the declaration of a state of emergency coining it ‘a declaration of war on the north’ Prof Ango did not only challenge the sovereignty of Nigeria but gave credence that Boko Haram is a baby of the northern ruling elite formed to destabilize the polity as preached by Gen Buhari on the eve of result declaration of the 2011 general elections, this may support his recent call for the resignation of the President for his inability to end a disease that has defiled all cure only waiting for the ‘election of its cause’. It seems ridiculous reading through the newspaper dailies of May 22, 2013, that the NEF intends dragging the government to the International Criminal Court for crimes against humanity, the killing of almost on a daily basis of Nigerians nay Christians do not constitute crime against humanity for Prof Ango, does this not purport a story of kettle calling pot black. Is high time you drag Boko Haram to the Islamic council and engage yourselves in a frank talk centered on the fact that Nigeria does not belong to the north or any region like you have said, hence no region should claim birth right to the seat of power. In like vein politicians and activists in the south should learn to guard their utterances with diligence. They must realize that you can’t use illegality to fight illegality.
Note: Boko Haram is a religious militia group that claims its ideology is founded on Islam; it abhors western education and undermines any political institutions not based on Sharia, since its public emergence in 2009 about 3000 lives have been lost and properties destroyed.

BEWARE NIGERIA
Negotiation has been seen as a veritable means for resolving disputes, whether in the family, trade or state. It is widely used in modern times to strike a balance between conflicting interests. Nigeria in recent times more prominently after the demise of Yar'Adua and the invocation of the doctrine of necessity which ushered in President Ebele Azikiwe, has come under siege by a deadly group whose rationale for unleashing terror to a selected few is totally bereft of ideology. Some insane reasons as abolition of western education and islamization of Nigeria have been alluded to the struggle, but non seems appealing to a rational mind. For these reasons crimes against humanity has on a daily basis been meted on helpless and innocent Nigerians including the aged and infants, properties destroyed and consequently have enriched the ruling class for whom they claim to be fighting through their security votes.

More worrisome, is the condition for ceasefire for which the said dreadful killer group has outlined as conditions for peace. Some of which are compensation of the family of deceased disciples of the group, reconstruction of its burnt worship places, unconditional release of its detained members and more comical to me the inclusion of Buhari as its mouth piece still depicts lack of rational reasoning for which it was formed. Does the name Buhari sound familiar to this group, can you remember statements accredited to him as to Nigeria been ungovernable if he fails to win, were there outbreak of violence against humanity in Nigeria, has there been a dearth in our security since then, is he about to be a judge in his own court or a messiah of his undoing? I leave you to be the judge.

Am more concerned with the group’s outrageous demands and doubt it sincerity of purpose not for the sake of doubting. Why has it severally in the past refused to apply reasoning by coming to the negotiating table, why now I ask, when it seems the government has gained tremendous ground against it and for the first time has decided to unearth the kingpins irrespective of who they are. Is this dreaded ‘dog’ now toothless? And seeks a soft landing or wait a while, was the violence fermented just to share from the national cake as it seems plausible in Nigeria in recent times. If the latter becomes the case, has the group not bite more than it can chew, are its activities not clear indications of genocide and terrorism, what happens to over 2000 innocent Nigerians murdered at their prime, who compensates the families, would they not have wished to be in prison than murdered gruesomely, are their lives less of value than those heartless blood thirsty ‘jihadist’ who are in prison whose members now wants to be released unconditionally as a path for peace. I warn my dear country as Moa Tsoa echoes ‘revolutions are not fought with silken gloves but iron ones’, we must not be too quick to seek peace, is time to bring them to their kneels, prosecute its sponsors and rehabilitate its repentant followers.
