Tragedy is lurking in Eha-Amufu, Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu State as residents and workers of the Federal College of Education cross a distressed bridge, the only route to the institution.

In a video obtained, workers and other road users were seen crossing the distressed bridge that has been been ripped off as result of decay and old age.

Residents, workers and other road users had in the past cried out for the construction of the bridge but their cries never attracted any attention.

The bridge is now in its most sorry state, fueling fears of imminent tragedy.

Refugees fleeing war and strife were allegedly tortured by police on the Croatian border as reported by Danish aid workers stationed in the Balkans

They alleged that dozens of refugees have been victims of assault and sexual abuse at the hands of Croatian law-enforcement.

According to the victims, it happened after they tried to cross into the European Union nation, before being summarily expelled back to Bosnia.

Nicola Bay, the head of the Danish Refugee Council in Bosnia, said on Friday that 149 refugees of varying nationalities, independently interviewed by his staff in the country over the past 10 days, reported being exposed to “extremely abusive” treatment by Croatian police.

A MASS MURDERER nicknamed ‘Lucifer’ has been accused of killing 48 other inmates during his 25 years behind bars.

Marcos Paulo da Silva, a thief-turned-serial killer was first jailed for petty theft at the age of 18 in 1995, before he became a vicious killer. He is known to cut off the heads of his fellow inmates before disembowelling their dead bodies.

In one case, he is said to have murdered five inmates in one go in Serra Azul Jail in Sao Paulo in 2011 in one of his bloodiest attacks to date.

He faces spending the rest of his life after racking up multiple convictions and sentences totalling 217 years. Although he has yet to be tried for many of his alleged crimes, according to local reports.

Da Silva is said to have told a judge recently: “I have no regrets about killing all these people.

“They were rapists and thieves who took advantage of other inmates and robbed them.”

Da Silva has been described as the leader of a gang of assassins created with the mission of murdering members of the PCC, one of Brazil’s leading gangs formed by inmates as a self-protection group in the prison system.

Prison guards told online firm UOL that it was only a “question of time” before the notorious prisoner kills again once he is transferred to a new prison.

The report said Da Silva used a fire extinguisher to knock his Serra Azul Prison victims unconscious before beheading them with a home-made knife in his most infamous jail massacre to date.

He is said to have yelled: “I love this, there’s so few, I want to kill more prisoners” as he snubbed out their lives.

Psychologists say he is not mentally ill but does suffer from a personality disorder that needs to be urgently treated.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation has hinged the resurgence of fuel queues in petrol stations nationwide on traffic obstructions caused by the #EndSARS protests, which reached its climax last week.

The state-run oil firm said on Monday that supply of petroleum products was also hampered by the curfew imposed in many states to restore order due to unrest from the protests.

Long fuel queues were spotted at filling stations in different parts of the country and the Federal Capital Territory yesterday, as many motorists resorted to panic buying.

NNPC spokesman Kennie Obateru said the situation will be addressed in the coming days.

“Normalcy is expected to return to the petroleum products supply chain in the next couple of days”, NNPC said in a statement reported by NAN.

“There is no need for panic buying, be rest assured that supply will soon return to the entire country.”

The corporation boasts of having over two billion litres of petrol in stock — enough it says to guarantee steady supply nationwide for a 60-day period.

The now-relaxed protests for the scrapping of the brutal police special anti-robbery squad, SARS, came at a time of economic crisis in Nigeria, and stalemate cost the country an estimated N700 billion in revenue, the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry said last Monday.

A total of 282,529 pupils are currently being fed under the Home Grown School Feeding Programme in Zamfara, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajiya Sadiya Umar Faruk, has said.

The minister made the disclosure at a town hall meeting in Gusau on Monday.

She said the scheme was being carried out in 1,759 schools spread across the 14 local government areas of the state.

Faruk added that 2,000 cooks were employed in the state to provide food to the pupils.

On the town hall meeting, the minister explained that it was to identify, articulate and derive solutions to the humanitarian and developmental challenges in the state

Also, According to her, the Federal Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP) programme had provided loans to 48,503 individuals in Zamfara.

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Malam Muhammad Bello, has ordered arrest and prosecution of looters who broke into the FCT warehouse in Gwagwalada Area Council and carted away with food items.

Bello who called for the return of the looted food items during an emergency security meeting with leaders of various security agencies in the city on Monday October 26, said there would be massive deployment of security agencies to safeguard factories and warehouses in Idu Industrial District of the city.

FCT Minister of State, Dr Ramatu Aliyu also condemned the looting and also pointed out that no nation could survive without a food reserve which are being looted across the country. She pleaded with council chairmen and traditional rulers to reach out to opinion molders to unite the people against looters.

The Special Military Task Force, Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), has arrested 123 suspects for vandalising and looting items from private businesses and government properties in Jos, PECOHUB Has Learnt

The Commander of the task force, Maj.-Gen. Chukwuemeka Okonkwo, presented the suspects to newsmen on Sunday in Jos.

Okonkwo said that the suspects defied the 24-hour curfew imposed by the State Government to perpetrate the criminal act.

He said some of the suspects were arrested while looting properties at the Plateau Agricultural and Development Agency (PADP), located at Dogon Dutse of Jos North Local Government Area of the state.

Others, he said, were arrested while trying to vandalise and loot private shops at West of Mines area of the locality.

The commander said that the arrest was aimed at curbing all forms of criminality in the state, adding that it would also serve as deterrent to others.

“We arrested these suspects while vandalising and looting private businesses and properties in Jos, These are hoodlums, not EndSARS protesters. So,they are purely criminals. We will not tolerate any form of criminality and this exercise will also serve as deterrent to others”

He also warned that the task force would decisively deal with anybody caught tampering with public properties, adding that the suspects would be prosecuted.

“We shall not spare anyone caught unlawfully taking government property. Such persons are criminals and will not go scot free.

Pope Francis on Sunday urged members of the Roman Catholic Church to pray for Nigeria, days after a military assault on protesters left at least nine civilians killed.

Following the violence and looting orchestrated by the EndSARS protests across Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari has asked his ministers to relocate to their home states

The Nation reports that the president’s action was to douse the tension caused by the demonstrations over the activities of the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

Pecohub gathered that the ministers were scheduled to meet with stakeholders to explain the federal government’s efforts to meet the demands of the youths.

Confirming the development during a courtesy call to Governor Muhammadu Badaru of Jigawa state in Dutse, the minister of water resources, Sulaiman Adamu, said the cabinet members were directed to seek the support of political, traditional, religious and community leaders against the protests.

Adamu said he was in the state to meet with leaders on “promoting tolerance, peace and stability in this critical moment and hear from them and report back to him (Buhari) immediately.”


He acknowledged that the #EndSARS protests started well and was in line with the Nigerian constitution only to be hijacked along the line by those who infringed on the rights of other citizens, killed innocent persons, looted and engaged in other criminal acts.

He Said;


“President Muhammad Buhari is soliciting the support of all other political leaders in the state to properly address the people of the state on the need to dispel any rumour that is tantamount to creating disunity among Nigerians and also throw the nation into crisis.”
Speaking in Akwa Ibom on a similar mission on Saturday, October 24, the minister of Niger Delta affairs, Godswill Akpabio, urged youths of the state to embrace peace, adding that President Buhari was committed to meeting their demands with regard to police reforms.
