You right we've had poor coaches whether Nigerian or foreign.

For me the first criteria whenever the discussion of choosing a coach comes up is competence followed by if he's Nigerian. I will never under any misguided patriotism advocate for an obviously unqualified local coach to handle the SE if the foreign one is a better option.

my biggest issue is we never give the most qualified Nigerians the job, Emetole and Kadiri Ikhana are the most recent Nigerians to make Caf champions league finals but both of them were never considered for the SE job but we kept on giving exinternationals like Chukwu,Eguavoen etc, who couldn’t cut it the Nigerian league.

I hope so. Akinsanmiro Ebenezer played a league game for them and made the bench 4-5 times.

i hope he’ll get more playing time now that the league have been wrapped up

Lol... Amunike also successfully managed U17, U20 and two NPFL sides in Julius Berger (now Bridge FC) and Ocean Boys before he even got the U17 Job in 2013.

Now tell me, has Manu coached a senior national team before?

successfully managed U-17? Sure but can’t say the same about U-20

So nff knew Dey couldn’t afford a foreign coach,so y waste time…instead of dem to just handover the team to finidi or amuneke as d case maybe ..dense ppu
this is exactly my problem just give him the team, he should have taken them to Morocco for those games

You should act reasonable

We all know in 2026 there would be a World Cup in June

So you’re telling me nff knew about this wafu B u-17 tournament last week ??

You must be high is cheap ogogoro
you were talking about Manu now you’ve jumped to NFF I’m sure now you know the drunk person

it was a week long competition and it was for our u15. If they went for the tournament they would have been back and it would have been good preparation for the WAFU B and besides Manu's work does not extend to the u15 as they have a separate coach named Patrick bassey. There's another reason for it and knowing the NFF, I'm not sure we will hear the reason any time soon.
I’ve seen people’s tweet complaining about the Spanish embassy, I know Nigeria/Nigerians are very corrupt but abeg let’s be giving them benefit of doubt sometimes

You must be silly for saying this

If you took your son to the trials and they turned you back that the team is full

Same team that was claimed to be assembled few days ago then you wouldn’t be saying this
and you are very foolish for spitting rubbish, why will I take my son for a nonexistent trial? Do England or Spain do open screening or they just pick players from clubs?

The NFF has a functioning under 15/16 team since Amaju era. The team is made up of the best young talent across the country. They were recently denied visa by Spain for a UEFA under 16 tournament. Read the news to know whatz up, not everything be fraud. Rest!
I hate this thing Nigerians do, they see a headline and just conclude it’s definitely fraud at work. Never seen a bunch of people who hate their country so much like Nigerians

you people should try to act reasonable na, there’s a tournament in few weeks time but you are here asking the coach to do open screening. There are academies scatter all over the country, Garba is a coach with plenty experience at youth level so you think unless egunje he can’t assemble 50 players ?

The only player Yekini had real language understanding with is Amokachi and it’s Hausa language.

Yekini speak Hausa better than Yoruba, cuz of it he was more closer to Amokachi,so Amokachie was not beefing Yekini then but I can say Siasia fall out with Yekini after Cote d’voire match cus Yekini took it personal.

Siasia lost his position to Amokachie due to that missed, not due to his overall performance.Keshi was like no it happened in football and why Siasia should be turned to villain. After this the team camp broke into groups and Westerhoff saw it and called a meeting that no Siasia I did it for football reasoning.

Tactically Okocha was sacrificed for Siasia during US94 but things went soar before Italy match,Siasia had training bust up with Oliseh which made Westerhof to axed him from starting line up,some players are not happy with that decision.

Nigeria missing 96 Afcon, saw another strong group of players emerging from Atlanta 96 and did all they could do to block US 94 players from forming new nucleus of eagles.Checking out 98 WC team, injuries and poor friendlies matches brought Rufai,Yekini,Eguavoen,Okafor and Iroha back.

If you check it out Amokachi stabbed Keshi at the back during Afcon 2013 and stabbed Siasia on under 23 job….Oliseh love criticizing Keshi and Siasia at any given moment. This is to tell you the beefing in eagles.

I just hope they all support Amunike this time around

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kkDbTSYhCxI?si=HQm7NNv18yy12wMC it was after watching this I knew Oliseh and Sia1 aren’t friends. According to Siasia he was dropped for the Italy game because he and Oliseh fought during training

I just rewatched that video now and I can see dissatisfaction from Amuneke, Finidi and some players as soon as he scored.

As soon as he scored and entered the post, Findi, Amuneke and one other player just walked away with little excitement.

Meaning, the thing pain dem die. I can't imagine someone scoring our first goal and you just walked away like that. Who does that?

There was already crack in the team and it was alleged that soon as Amuneke entered the team, he brought bad belle.
how do you people come up with this sort of thing? You made all these conclusion from TV?

To be fair... across his stints as assistant in 2013 U17, Head coach in 2015 U17 and Head coach in 2016-2017 U20, we have:

Currently in the Eagles:
- Kelechi Iheanacho
- Wilfred Ndidi
- Francis Uzoho
- Victor Osimhen
- Samuel Chukwueze

Others (have played for the Eagles but not recently):
- Chidera Ejuke
- Kelechi Nwakali
- Isaac Success
- Kingsley Michael (made his debut under Rohr but has faded from the scene now)

if we can't attribute the 2022 wcq failure to him since he was assistant to eguavon, then garba's u17 too shouldn't be counted. All in all, meliforme's point that amunike is conversant with many players in the squad isn't true.
personally I always see points like ‘he knows the club/team’, ‘he knows the players’ as very unnecessary

I will like Osimhen to work with Enrique due to his offensive style of play (Taka). However, PSG coaching department is so unstable that I won't want Osimhen caught in the crossfire of their incessant sacking.

Arteta has not fully convinced me but he looks tactically sound and I believe he can improve Osimhen.

I agree with a move to Arsenal.
