Agriculture / Fish Smoking Kiln Temperature by jimmysqueen(f): 12:14pm On Oct 13, 2018
Can someone who actually knows from experience and not guesswork, please settle a dispute between my husband and myself....we have been told that the temperature in our kiln should be 150 degrees. What we can't seem to ascertain is whether this is Fahrenheit or Celsius. One of us says Fahrenheit and the other says Celsius. Our kiln is a 300-500kg FIIRU approved brick kiln but we've not had our full training yet.

Any light you can shed on this would be much appreciated.

Btw, we have a catfish farm in Lagos which is why we have such a big smoking kiln

I see someone recommended palm oil to neutralise if dog licks it. When palm oil washes up on the beaches here in the UK, we are warned it is poisonous to our dogs. Is this the same kind of palm oil?!
Pets / Re: Importing Pet Dog From UK To Nigeria by jimmysqueen(f): 2:34pm On Mar 09, 2017
Thanks for the advice. My dogs have been neutered as they are pets and I don't want to breed from them. They are called cockapoos and are cocker spaniel/poodle crosses. Very popular in Europe and USA as they don't shed their fur.

I will try and find Jado!

Pets / Importing Pet Dog From UK To Nigeria by jimmysqueen(f): 9:58pm On Mar 07, 2017
I have two beloved pet dogs that I wish to bring with me to Lagos in June/July. I've been in touch with the Department of Veterinary and Pest Control Services in Abuja to find out what I need to do and have been emailed a form but its not ABSOLUTELY clear exactly what I need to do.

As you can imagine I'm extremely anxious that I have all the correct paperwork in place to ensure my animals are released at Customs with no problems.

Does anyone have recent experience of importing a dog and can explain the procedure to me?

TIA

Pets / Indoor Cats, Colour Point Persian And Ragdolls by jimmysqueen(f): 10:36am On Nov 07, 2016
I'm wondering whether breeding indoor cats, particularly for people that love cats and live in apartments, would be a good business idea for Lagos and the island? I'm thinking colour point Persians, Ragdolls and Maine Coons. I'm English, married to a Nigerian and we're moving to Lagos from UK after Christmas. I just want to get a feel for the demand for these types of cats in Nigeria. My husband has no idea whether it would be a good business as he's lived in the UK for the last 30 years!!!

I'd appreciate your opinion but only if it is constructive.

Pets / Re: Quarrantine Rules by jimmysqueen(f): 9:51am On Nov 07, 2016
Thanks ks for your response. My concern is returning to UK, not entering Nigeria as I've got that all covered and we're good to go. I was hoping that someone would reply who has actually experienced returning to UK with their dog.
Pets / Quarrantine Rules by jimmysqueen(f): 12:15am On Nov 07, 2016
Hi, does anyone have recent experience of taking dogs to UK from Nigeria. Is quarrantine compulsory if they've had all their vaccinations and have a pet passport. I'm about to move to Lagos with my husband but am concerned about the rules if we return to England. TIA
