They emphasized the need to immortalize him, citing his selflessness and the exemplary qualities he embodied during his lifetime.

The family, in a press conference held today, February 5, 2024, at Pa JS Olawoyin House in Offa, Kwara State expressed their commitment to honouring the great nationalist's enduring legacy.

The press conference was attended on behalf of the family by Mrs. Jejelola Modupe Ajibade (Nee Olawoyin), Chief (Barrister) Oluwasegun Olawoyin, Chief Akinrogun of Offaland, Otunba (Dr) Lanre Folorunsho, Alhaji Rasheed Ibrahim, Alhaji Waheed Olawale Babatunde and Imam Ibrahim Abdullateef (Oluaye Kende).

Today, 5th of February 2024, we are in the 99th year of his birth. This occasion coincides with two different occasions; we are organizing a centenary posthumous birthday for him which we are programmed to come up on the 5th of February 2025. On that day, we will also be celebrating 25th year of his departure. We have series of programmes to commemorate these two events, on the fore is the creation of a foundation in his name, named JS Olawoyin Foundation. We also want to review and launch his autobiography. The latter will tell the world more about his personality when he was alive.

"There is always an auspicious time to do things. We have been doing things in his memory over the years. But we feel this centenary posthumous birthday is very strategic and we feel it should be the highlight of all the activities we have been using to celebrate him over the years.

"The Foundation will cater for education. It will have a center and a board of trustees. What Baba will be remembered for - as he always wished - was his fight for education for the masses. He always fought on the part of the masses. He felt education is what will benefit mankind."

The late Chief Olawoyin, born on February 5, 1925, made significant contributions to the creation of Kwara State during the Northern Nigeria Leaders of Thought Forum in Kaduna in 1966. The family revealed plans for a centenary posthumous birthday celebration scheduled for February 5, 2025, coinciding with the 25th anniversary of his passing. The event will serve as the focal point for a series of programme, including the establishment of the JS Olawoyin Foundation and the review and launch of his autobiography.

Nairaland / General / Birthday Wishes To Alhaji Muideen Olaniyi Salako by Jimsonjaat96(m): 12:30pm On Feb 01
By Idowu Muhydeen Oladipo (IMO)

Birthdays are a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the remarkable individuals in our lives who have touched us in numerous ways. Every February 1st marks the birthday of Alhaji Olaniyi Muideen Azeez Salako, a unique individual whose journey has been nothing short of inspiring. He has achieved immense success in the business world and has a strong commitment to making a positive impact on people. Even before he became the National President of the revered Offa Descendants' Union (ODU), Alhaji Azeez Salako had dedicated his life to promoting the welfare of others, particularly through empowerment and generous donations to good causes. His business success has enabled him to give back to the community that he holds dear to his heart.

Alhaji Salako has been a silent achiever, and his wealth and experience have enabled him to touch the lives of many. As ODU national president, Alhaji Salako has demonstrated exemplary leadership skills. He has fostered growth, embraced innovative ideas to drive success, and created numerous job opportunities through his support for local businesses.

His vision, wisdom, and steadfast commitment to the betterment of the Offa community have steered the union towards progress and unity, fostering an environment of inclusivity. As the current ODU National Social Secretary under his leadership, I have had the privilege of witnessing Alhaji Salako's selflessness and dedication firsthand. His humble nature, approachability, and genuine concern for the well-being of others have made him not just an exceptional leader but also a true friend and mentor. Under his guidance, ODU has flourished, achieving remarkable milestones and making significant progress towards its vision of a prosperous and equitable community.

Alhaji Salako's invaluable support and encouragement have motivated his ODU national executives to work tirelessly towards shared goals and aspirations. As ODU national president, Alhaji Salako has undertaken several projects and initiatives aimed at uplifting the underprivileged sections of society. His first assignment on resumption of duty was the provision of solar light around the ODU Hall, which also houses the ODU national secretariat, when he observed that the place was always in the dark, particularly at night.

He has also provided basic facilities to the two federal agencies in the town, Federal Fire Services and the newly inaugurated passport front office in Offa. Additionally, he facilitated the installation of a transformer at Offa General Hospital, which has significantly improved healthcare service delivery at the hospital. Alhaji Salako-led ODU efforts to rebrand the Offa Vigilante and Neighbourhood Watch, coupled with the distribution of various night watch materials, which I spearheaded along with other prominent people in Offa, have contributed to enhancing community security in the town and its neighbouring communities. He has also reviewed monthly allowances to local security outlets, underscoring his commitment to maintaining peace and safety within Offa. Alhaji Salako has also engaged with and supported Offa's diaspora community by providing logistics to them whenever they have a programme at home, particularly the yearly medical outreach. Under his leadership, ODU has reunited all the branches of the union across the world, and more branches have been created.

He, along with others and with the support of HRH Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi Okikiola Esuwoye II, the Olofa of Offa, has initiated different peace initiatives committed to promoting harmonious relationships between Offa and its neighbouring communities, bringing the relative peace that Offa and its neighbouring communities enjoy now. Recently, he gave Offa sons and daughters who are undergoing an ODU-facilitated free agricultural training programme in Ewekoro, Ogun State, a huge amount of money to relieve their stress and support them. Indeed, Alhaji Salako is a man of compassion. In the last year, the ODU has achieved many tangible milestones that have benefited the people of Offa and its environs.

Alhaji Salako has used his resources and contacts to facilitate many developmental projects for the town. His dedication to community development is evident in these accomplishments. He has undoubtedly made a positive impact on Offa as ODU's national president. I and a group of Alhaji Salako's well-wishers had planned a surprise birthday celebration for him in his Bida home.

However, Alhaji Salako had other plans, as he decided to celebrate his birthday in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where he is currently performing his lesser hajj. As we celebrate this special day with him, it is important to not only recognise his birthday but also the amazing legacies he has built throughout his life. Alhaji Salako's invaluable contributions to his community, profession, and society cannot be fully expressed in words. His dedication, hard work, and unwavering commitment to excellence have left a lasting impact on the lives of many.

As I join his family, friends, business and professional colleagues, ODU, and the people of Offa in wishing him a happy birthday, I also celebrate the positive influence he continues to have on the lives of those around him.

Finally, I wish Alhaji Muideen Olaniyi Azeez-Salako a birthday filled with joy and blessings. May he continue to positively impact the lives of people and leave a legacy that inspires generations to come. Once again, happy birthday, sir!

Nairaland / General / Aare Bobajiroro Of Offa, Alhaji Musbau Olaniyi Triumphs With MBA From ABU Zaria by Jimsonjaat96(m): 9:21pm On Jan 27
Aare Bobajiroro of Offaland and the President of Offa Youths Council (OYC), Alhaji Musbau Olalekan Olaniyi has bagged a master of business administration (MBA) in Human Resources (HR) from the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria.

Alhaji Olaniyi disclosed this on X, on Saturday, January 27.

Sharing his pictures during the university’s 43rd convocation ceremony, he wrote: "Attending ABU Zaria was a childhood dream, and I'm glad it was accomplished. In 2008, I waited for a long time to get direct entry admission into ABU Zaria. While waiting for the last admission list, I got my present job and the admission in the same week. I went for the job. Years later, I got my MBA from ABU. It was challenging as I had to combine it with family, work, and other engagements. Due to my tight schedule, I had to defer a course for two semesters and had carryover in another. In the course of the program, I wrote exams at four different locations; Zaria, Abuja, PHC, and Lagos.

"Today, I did my convocation and my first time wearing a graduation gown. I am proud of myself for the resilience and sacrifice...OND, BEng Chemical Engineering, and MBA HR.

"Sincere appreciation to my family for their support. Also, to my good friend, Kunle Shekoni, who was always available to accompany on the trips to Zaria. I can't forget my colleague and twinnie, Oise Ikhuemi, for his inspiration since our days in FUTO #ProudlyABUSITE...Naturally Ahead 📖

Politics / LG Electoral Bill: Kwara Assembly Faces Backlash Over Controversial Amendment by Jimsonjaat96(m): 10:52pm On Jan 26
Honourable Salahudeen A. Lukman, Eluku Omo Adugbo has on Friday declared that the Kwara State House of Assembly should be scrutinized for "a controversial amendment" to the Local Government Electoral Bill.

The legislative body, once regarded as the assembly of the people's representatives, is now facing accusations of being Governor Abdul Rahman AbdulRasak's stooges.

Eluku, who was the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Candidate for Ojomu/Balogun Constituency in the 2023 general elections, expressed his concern over the assembly's apparent disregard for public opinion in the amendment process. According to him, the bill, which extends the election notice period from 90 days to an unprecedented 365 days, aims to reshape the local government system in Kwara State.

He also accused the Mallam Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq-led to be making ceaseless efforts to bury the local government system in the state.

He said, "it's unfortunate that the Kwara State House of Assembly, which should be the assembly of the people's representatives, has finally turned into the assembly of Governor Abdul Rahman AbdulRasak's stooges.

"One wonders how clueless the assembly has become, to the extent of disregarding the people's opinion on the amendment of a law that is expected to guide the people. Yet, they went ahead to pass such a ridiculous bill seeking to bury the local government system in Kwara State with an extension of the election notice from 90 days to 365 days. This is the first of its kind in the entire country.

"Despite a clear understanding of the importance and significance of the local government system, being the closest tier of government to the people at the grassroots, and considering the unprecedented developmental decay across the state caused by the lack of functional local government administration since the inception of the APC-led state government in 2019. One would expect a holistic and patriotic approach to the revival of the local government system, rather than burial arrangements for the system killed by the same administration.

"Today, I can boldly say that Offa people have no representatives in the Kwara State House of Assembly because a true son of Offa land would never consent if, at all, he or she would be a minority or lone voice. Instead, they would voice the truth and bear the best interest of Offa people during this process of the final burial arrangement for the local government system in Kwara State.

"God knows, if I were in the assembly as the representative of Ojomu/Balogun Constituency in the Kwara State House of Assembly, I would never consent to such a retrogressive mission, even if I were alone. I would rather let posterity remember me for good instead of joining the bandwagon to kill the voice of our people and the government that benefits our people the most.

"A bill rejected by the public during a hearing is forcefully passed with Offa representatives' assent is nothing but a bad omen, a terrible record of precedence, and a total disappointment to what Offa people represent.

"We are ever progressive, known to be exceptional, bold, and confident to speak the truth even when we are alone. I, therefore, call on our people to forgive our representatives for the misrepresentation of our values and true character in the assembly. 2027 is another opportunity to correct the ills."

Honourable Salahudeen also observed that the developmental decay across the state since the APC-led state government's inception in 2019 is due to the lack of a functional local government administration. He expressed his expectations that the assembly should take a holistic and patriotic approach to revive the local government system rather than contribute to its demise.

Nairaland / General / Muhydeen Okunola: Touching Lives, One At A Time by Jimsonjaat96(m): 5:32pm On Jan 24
By: Bilqis 'Wura' Zubair-Tomori

Maya Angelou, a renowned American memoirist, poet, and civil rights activist, once said that living a beautiful and fulfilling life is not about the number of years one spends on earth but about the positive impact one has on the lives of others and society at large. These words embody the life philosophy of Muhydeen Okunlola Kayode, a man who has dedicated his life to making a significant positive impact on the lives of others.

Muhydeen is the principal partner of Luxiar Construction Limited, a well-known construction company with a strong presence in FCT, Abuja, and other parts of Nigeria. He is not only a successful entrepreneur but also a compassionate man with a heart of gold who derives immense joy from identifying and resolving societal problems while putting smiles on people's faces. He believes that benevolence should be a way of life and has, therefore, dedicated his resources to making life better and more meaningful for the less privileged.

In pursuit of this goal, Muhydeen founded the MOK Foundation, a charity organisation motivated by compassion for humanity and dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of the less fortunate in society. The MOK Foundation has established itself as a leader in grassroots philanthropic development and has remained steadfast in its commitment to putting smiles on the faces of the poor, even in the face of present economic challenges. Since its inception, the foundation has focused on improving the lives of the less privileged across Kwara South by providing them with necessities.

However, the foundation does not believe in creating a culture of dependency and has, therefore, focused on empowering people to be self-sufficient. MOK's philanthropic deeds extend across various aspects of society, including sponsoring scholarships for students, widows, orphans, and the disabled, sponsoring people to further their education, donating solar power to communities, and distributing food items to the less privileged, particularly during the month of Ramadan.

The Foundation has recently awarded scholarships to 130 underprivileged students in the state. The scholarship aims to cover the expenses of students who will take the 2024 WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, and JAMB examinations.

This initiative is a significant step towards promoting education in the state and providing equal opportunities to all students. The ceremony was attended by Dr Adetola Salau, the Offa-born Special Adviser on Education to Kwara State Governor Malam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, which is an indication that the state government is aware of and supports Muhydeen Okunlola's philanthropic gesture.

This scholarship will not only help students in need but also motivate them to excel academically and achieve their goals.

The foundation has also paid off medical bills for the sick and provided job opportunities for the unemployed while providing capital for them to set up small-scale ventures. As a beneficiary of MOK's philanthropic work, I can attest to the significant impact of his foundation on the lives of many people.

Specifically, I have recommended some market women for a soft loan from his foundation, which has brought significant relief to address the problem of limited capital. Research has shown that only a few Nigerian women business owners have been able to secure microcredit. This highlights the challenges that women entrepreneurs face in accessing financial resources to grow and sustain their businesses. Thanks to MOK's soft loan, women entrepreneurs can now grow and sustain successful businesses.

Muhydeen Okunlola, whom people now prefer to call MOK, is an exceptional individual who has achieved significant success in his life. His accomplishments are not limited to his business achievements but also to his relentless dedication to making a positive impact on the lives of others. MOK's life is a shining example of how one can achieve success while still giving back to society.

His philanthropic works have earned him several honours and recommendations, and he is a role model for many. MOK is a man with a kind and generous heart who abhors deceit, animosity, and ill feelings towards others.

He believes that honesty and fairness are essential to building a better society. His friendly and outgoing nature makes him approachable to people of all ages, genders, and backgrounds without any form of discrimination. His desire to help those in need drives him to always put others before himself. His focus is on doing what is right, and his activities are geared towards empowering and enabling others to achieve their dreams and aspirations.

One of MOK's greatest strengths is his humility. He does not think less of himself, but he thinks of himself less. He is honest about his weaknesses and respects everyone, irrespective of their status, tribe, or stature.

He always considers the feelings of others, even when they have no power over him. He treats others as he would want to be treated, were the roles to be reversed. This is why he goes the extra mile to help those in need. MOK's selfless service to humanity is a testament to his unwavering commitment to making the world a better place.

His work has inspired others to make a difference in their communities, thereby creating a ripple effect of positive change. Above all, Muhydeen's obedience to his parents, right from childhood, has been a significant contributor to his success in life. He believes in building a better, more stable society, eradicating poverty, and spreading hope and happiness, and his efforts are geared toward achieving these goals.

Kayode is an exceptional individual who has dedicated his life to community service. He founded the MOK Foundation with a strong commitment to making a positive impact on the world. The foundation is a true testament to his passion for serving others and improving the lives of those around him. Muhydeen Okunlola's work is an inspiration to all of us, and we can all learn from his remarkable life and achievements. Given all of his accomplishments, it is safe to conclude that MOK is OK!

Nairaland / General / Governor Adeleke's White Paper On Akinrun Of Ikirun's Stool: Lest We Should Be T by Jimsonjaat96(m): 1:13pm On Jan 24
Governor Adeleke's White Paper On Akinrun of Ikirun's Stool: Lest We Should Be The Worst

Osun State Government recently released Six White Papers - five on various committees that investigated issues raised by the executive orders issued by Governor Ademola Adeleke, at the inception of the current administration in November 2022, and the other one on Education Summit.

According to a release by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, the White Papers earlier approved by the State Executuve Council, were finally ratified, after further review by a special committee, chaired by Governor Adeleke himself, in line with the his promise to ensure due process, indepth consultation and compliance with the rule of law.

The five other white papers approved include those of Committees on Chieftaincy Matters, Contracts/MOU/Agreements review Committee, Solid Minerals Committee, Assets Inventory and Recovery Committee as well as Staff Audit /Appointments/ Promotions review Committee.

On the report on the chieftaincy matters, chaired by Reverend Bunmi Jenyo, the white paper ordered that all previous steps taken in relation to the installation of Aree of Iree and Owa of Igbajo stand nullified. And that all inclusive selection process (es) for a new Aree of Iree and Owa of Igbajo, respectively, should commence immediately.

Meanwhile, on the disputed Akirun of Ikirun's stool, the White Paper directed that the parties await the outcome of the case before the Court of Appeal, adding that the stool remains vacant.

At this juncture, it is very critical to observe that the government declaration on Ikirun royal tussle looks like a white blanket, hence the need for stakeholders to be conscious of this, in order not to put Ikirun on bondage longer than expected, as some power mongers and desperate politicians may capitalize on the loopholes for their selfish interests, not minding the consequences.

In the first instance, the status of the case before the appellate court remains unknown. In fact, nobody knows, if the said case has ever been opened for hearing, and how long it will take before it would be finally decided, as such a case can always take a decade or more before the final ruling.

As a group of well meaning Ikirun indigenes, who can no longer fold their arms and be watching when their hometown is experiencing a lamentable degree of degeneration, the *Ikirun Reformers'Generation, IRG*, hereby:

i) Calls on all stakeholders, most especially the royal families, to jettison their personal interests and come together to pursue the collective interest of Ikirunland. They should all remember the repercussions of their actions or inactions.

ii) As a matter of urgency, recommends that the appeal by the Gboleru Ruling House should be withdrawn, while all the three ruling houses, namely: Gboleru, Obaara and Adedeji, should allow the next ruling house to provide candidate(s) for the Akinrun of Ikirun's stool, in accordance with the existing arrangement.

iii) Urges the local and State governments to be sincere in their interventions, by helping Ikirun to get out of the current quagmire, because a town without a king is a town without direction.

iv) Appeals to all the kingmakers in Ikirun to speak with one voice now and to follow due process to elect/select a prince from the next ruling house, who would become the Akinrun of Ikirun. Our kingmakers should be conscious of the fact that they would one day meet their creators as well as the ancestors of Ikirunland.

v) And finally, admonishes all indigenes of Ikirun, both at home and in the diaspora, to prevail on the stakeholders to do the needful now, as the continued vacancy in Akinrun of Ikirun's stool has adversely affected the progress of our dear town, just as it does not help the future of Ikirun - a town that had hitherto been at the forefront, not only in Ikirun zone, which comprises SIX local government areas, but also in the entire Osun State as a whole.

Honourable Abdulwaheed Gbenga Yusuf JK, the distinguished Member representing Essa/Shawo/Igboidun Constituency at the Kwara State House of Assembly and the Chairman of the House Committee on Works and Transport, has once again showcased his dedication to the welfare of the people.

The lawmaker, at his private residence in Offa on Monday, January 22, sponsored the 2024 WAEC fees for 300 students in Offa and Oyun local government areas of Kwara State, paving the way for their academic pursuits. This noble gesture reflects Honourable JK's understanding that education is a key driver of progress and prosperity.

The beneficiaries, students drawn from Government Day Secondary School, Moremi High School, Ansarul-Islam Secondary School Offa, Ansar-Ud-Deen College Offa, The Federal Polytechnic Offa (FEDPOFFA) Staff Secondary School, Iyeru Grammar School, Ira Grammar School, Omolabake College, Anglican Comprehensive College (ACC), Tawakalitu Grammar School (TGS), Nawar-Ud-Deen Secondary School, St Mark Secondary School, and others.

Speaking during the scholarship, Hon JK said he is immensely grateful to God for the successful 12th edition of the WAEC scholarships.

"We are here, as we always come every year. This is the 12th WAEC scholarship. I have been doing it before I was elected as a House of Assembly member.

"When I started 12 years ago, I only gave WAEC scholarship to 5 students. All of them are now graduates and working class; even one of them is my lawyer, and one is currently a Ph.D. student. Alhamdulilah, today we want to do 300 students; I gave 200 WAEC scholarships to indigent students last year. It is a huge improvement. It is something to be grateful for.

"While this is not too much, I am of the opinion that there is nothing too little to give to society. The people believed in me and voted for me twice. We have vowed to do good for our people.

"We didn't see an opportunity like this doesn't mean we should not contribute our quota for the betterment of society. You will subsequently relay this as part of your history. We will see doctors, teachers, engineers, and other highly placed persons amongst you in the future."

The Chairman of the Transition Implementation Committee (TIC) in Offa LG, Honorable Olajare Olatundun, showered accolades on Honourable JK.

Hon Olatundun, who was ably represented by his vice, Honourable Raji Aisha, said, "We thank God we meet today; we were here last year. The beneficiaries were 200 last year, 300 this year, and we pray the number will be double next year.

"I want to thank Honourable JK for this feat. May God strengthen him.

"To the students, I say 'failure is a gradual process, success is a gradual process'; I therefore enjoin the students to be steadfast and focused on their studies.

"They should be thinking futuristically as to when and how they will give back to society too. 300 WAEC scholarships are being given to them today; they should be thinking about how to give 3000 in the nearest future."

He also enjoined them to be prayerful.

Commissioner for Health in Kwara State, Dr. Amina Ahmed El-Imam, was also represented by Mrs. Dundu Sherifat; the event was also graced by APC stalwarts, women leaders, and ward leaders.

Nairaland / General / Akeem Ayinla Foundation Breaks Ground For Two New Classrooms At Masudo College by Jimsonjaat96(m): 11:40am On Jan 21
Akeem Ayinla Foundation has commenced the construction of two blocks of classrooms at Masudo College in Igbaja, Ifelodun local government area of Kwara State.

According to the founder of the Foundation, Comrade Akeem Ayinla, the construction is aimed at creating a conducive learning atmosphere for the leaders of tomorrow, as well as being his way of giving back to society.

Speaking on behalf of Akeem Ayinla, Comrade Abiola Azeez Babatunde, popularly known as Adigun, mentioned that two blocks of classrooms are being constructed by the Akeem Ayinla Foundation in Igbaja. This initiative was prompted by the lack of infrastructure in the school, where students currently share classrooms across primary, junior, and senior secondary levels.

"It is common to see primary, junior, and senior secondary school students using the same classes. That's why the Akeem Ayinla Foundation is building two blocks of classrooms for them. The foundation started from scratch, and with the grace of God, it will be finished soon. The major tasks remaining include painting and tiling.

"The foundation will also furnish the two classes with chairs, tables, and other equipment. We won't just be handing over the structure to the school, but a well-furnished one."
Nairaland / General / ODUNA Leverages Iturah™ Telemedicine For A Successful 2024 Medical Outreach by Jimsonjaat96(m): 6:34pm On Jan 19
In a groundbreaking collaboration, The Offa Descendants Union North America (ODUNA) joined forces with Toybeth Systems LLC, the developer of iturah EMR & Telemedicine system for their annual medical outreach held from Monday, January 15th, to Friday, January 19th, 2024.

The one-week health-oriented event featured a comprehensive array of healthcare services, with medical professionals from the United States and from esteemed institutions such as the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH), General Hospital Offa, and Kwara State College of Health Technology (HealthTech), Offa.

Beneficiaries with medical needs received free diagnostics, treatments across various health domains, and screenings conducted by dedicated professionals. Notable services included the provision of free medication drugs, dental care, and general surgeries for conditions like hernia and cataract. Additionally, prescription glasses were distributed to individuals with impaired vision.

The event also showcased a modern way of doing medical outreach by using Iturah Telemedicine System, a revolutionary platform facilitating patient registrations, vitals checking, lab tests, and medical consultations with doctors onsite and virtually.

Abdulyekeen Rilwan, Coordinator of Country Business Development, disclosed that as of Thursday, January 18th, iturah has reported the successful registration of 4,220 patients, 31 doctors, 33 nurses, 7 lab scientists, and 7 Pharmacists, showcasing iturah's effectiveness and uniqueness in enhancing healthcare accessibility and efficiency.

The use of iturah telemedicine at the ODUNA Medical Mission marks a significant step towards advancing telemedicine solutions and improving healthcare outcomes for communities.

The President of ODUNA, Abdulmajeed Lawal, commended Iturah's positive impact on this year’s medical mission where ODUNA has introduced technology for the first time in a decade of conducting the outreach in Offa. Emphasizing the versatility and uniqueness of iturah, Mr. Abdulmajeed said: “I’m quite impressed because the App has an interface that is specifically built for outreach unlike the EHR software that we use in the western world or the United States that has its own complexities. This year, the App gives us the opportunity to know our statistics and helps us to know how we are doing at every close of the day and how to plan for the next day. The beauty of it is, from the registration point, the doctors, the consultants, specialists, and all providers are able to pull up patients’ information and follow-up from whatever point to point the patients have been to in the outreach flow.”

Mr. Abdulmajeed added: “We have to evolve from the old norm. The world is going AI and so writing everything on paper is not where we want to be in healthcare delivery. We need to level up with the world and bring our society and communities to that level as well.”

Various healthcare practitioners volunteering at the medical mission also provided accolades for iturah in its effectiveness and ease of use. Some nurses using an EMR application for the first time said they received training on the spot at the medical mission for 10 minutes and were able to complete a patient registration in less than 2 minutes.

Iturah telemedicine platform is developed by Toybeth Systems LLC under the leadership of a Nigerian-American technology entrepreneur, Elizabeth Oluwatoyin Olawoyin (Founder & CEO). The platform is packed with features and doubles as an EMR and a telemedicine system that can be used by individual doctors, hospitals, NGOs and other institutions in the fast delivery of healthcare services and analytics.

It is for this reason that Hon. Soji Adetunji is the point of contact for Odo-Otin/ Ifelodun/ Boripe Federal Constituency 1,240 bags of rice.

4) While some federal lawmakers, especially in Osun State here, like Hon. Clement Akanni (Olohunwa) of Ila/ Ifedayo/ Boluwaduro Federal Constituency and Hon. Bamidele Salam of Ede North/ Ede South/ Ejigbo/ Egbedore Federal Constituency have either started the distribution or given a distribution template in their respective federal constituencies, our own Hon. Soji Adetunji has not offered any information or communication on the IBO federal constituency's share of the rice.

5) Therefore, we are calling on Hon. Soji Adetunji to come out without any further delay, to provide a clear, factual and straight forward information on the current status of Odo-Otin/ Ifelodun/ Boripe Federal Constituency 1,240 bags of rice and the time the distribution will commence, with trackable distribution template, for accountability and prosperity sake.

6) The main ingredient of good governance is accountability from the leaders to the citizenry. Hence we must ensure accountability is maintained and sustained in our polity, in order for democracy to continue to be meaningful to us as government of the people, by the people and for the people.

7) Thanks, as we look forward to hearing from you.

E-Signed

Nairaland / General / OSSIEC Chairman Pledges To Serve With Fear Of God And Honesty by Jimsonjaat96(m): 8:43am On Jan 16
The Chairman of the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC), Barrister Hasim Abioye, has pledged his readiness to serve the state with the utmost fear of God and honesty, devoid of favoritism or nepotism.

Barrister Abioye made the pledge while hosting some notable Ikirun youths in the service of the Osun State Broadcasting Corporation (OSBC), who were on a solidarity visit to one of their own, now the new OSSIEC chairman.

He reiterated his earlier position that he is no longer a card-carrying member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but a legal practitioner with over one-and-a-half decades of experience, ready to bring his expertise to bear on the new state assignment.

Comrade Lateef Agboola, the chairman of NUJ, OSBC Chapel, who spoke on behalf of other Ikirun indigenes during the visit, raised the issue of partisanship allegations. The OSSIEC chairman insisted that he now heads a neutral electoral umpire, prepared to prove to the world that the youth have the capacity to rescue the country.

The delegation earlier commended Governor Ademola Adeleke for considering Ikirun for such an enviable position and expressed their readiness to provide maximum support for the resounding success of the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission chairman, Barrister Hasim Abioye.

The Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, OSBC Chapel, has pledged the resolve of its members to redouble efforts to justify the substantial investment of the Osun State Government in the media conglomerate.

This is contained in a joint statement by the Chapel's chairman, Comrade Lateef Agboola, and the Secretary, Comrade Kamilu Raheem, expressing appreciation to the incumbent administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke for the purchase of six state-of-the-art transmitters and studio equipment for the use of all the radio arms of OSBC.

NUJ OSBC Chapel noted with courage that the media organization would continue to discharge its statutory and constitutional responsibilities to the Government and people of Osun state as a whole, as well as its listeners beyond the state.

The union of pen pushers in OSBC particularly commended Governor Ademola Adeleke, his Special Adviser, Dr. Femi Adefila, and the OSBC board Chairman, Engr. Mayowa Olosho, for their efforts in revitalizing the leading media conglomerate in the southwest.

NUJ OSBC Chapel, like Oliver Twist, also urges the Osun State government to increase the tempo of staff welfare, most importantly, by revisiting the issue of Media Salary Scale, which the union believes would serve as an additional morale booster for all media practitioners under its employ.

Nairaland / General / Comrade El-sharaf Withdraws Petition Against OSU, Reveals Next Line Of Action by Jimsonjaat96(m): 1:23pm On Jan 13
On behalf of myself, the EFFECTIVE FAMILY CREW, and all affiliated OSU local chapters to the movement in the just-concluded OSU/NHQ 2023 election, it is important to use this medium to inform the general student populace under the umbrella of the union, community stakeholders, and concerned individuals that we have embraced a resolution for peace to reign and to stabilize our dear union, which seems to have become a crumbling edifice, sequel to the PETITION FOR DISSOLUTION written on the 1st of January 2023.

The action was taken following the words of Aristotle; he said, and I quote, “It is not enough to win a war; it is more important to organize the peace.” Therefore, we have challenged the injustice, which shows we have displayed being an aborigine of Offa with a true understanding of Ijakadi, and we have conquered with the alleged admitting of their guilt and tendered a necessary apology. On this note, I would like to appreciate the union legal adviser Otunba Bello Ademola Abdulwaheed, Mr. Jimoh Taofik Adekunle (JAAT), and other important individuals that intervened and oversaw the issues between concerned crew members and individuals by ensuring there is a resolution to save the face of the union, with which I strongly believe OFFA STUDENT UNION NATIONAL HEADQUARTERS can be great again.

With the view to clarify the grudge, it is important to notify the general populace that neither I, Sarafadeen Abdullahi Olamide, popularly addressed as EL–SHARAF, nor any member of the EFFECTIVE FAMILY CREW or affiliate chapters to the movement received anything either material or immaterial in exchange for agreement on resolution. We did this FOR OUR FATHER LAND to promote peace and eliminate enmity.

Therefore, we urge the student populace under the umbrella of the union, community stakeholders, and other concerned individuals to embrace COMRADE SOLIU MUBARAK OLAIYA ULTIMATE BIGGY as OSU/NHQ president, support him, and pray he runs a successful administration.
