Nairaland / General / Osun Govt Begins Dredging Of Waterways by Jimsonjaat96(m): 4:41pm On Apr 04
As the raining season is fast approaching, the Osun State Government through the Ministry of Environment and Sanitation has commenced dredging of major waterways in the state to avert flood disaster.

Leading other senior government officials to visit the venue of the dredging, Hon. Mayowa Adejoorin, Commissioner for Environment and Sanitation, commended Governor Ademola Adeleke for being proactive and responsive.

He maintained that the administration of Governor Adeleke is committed to the well-being and welfare of the people of Osun, hence his resolve to continue providing good leadership.

The first visit was the Osun river, Gbodofon Bridge, in Osogbo, where the dredging had commenced. The Ministry boss registered his displeasure on how some people dump refuse on the river, noting that this can cause serious flooding, as he warned inhabitants of the environment to desist from such attitude.

Speaking with this medium, Hon. Adejoorin said he led his management team to conduct oversight functions regarding the ongoing dredging.

"As you can see that we are here to check the ongoing dredging. You know our governor is someone who doesn't take no as an answer. Also, once he gives directive, such directive must be followed meticulously.

"This year dredging has commenced, I want to urge our people to cooperate with the government in making sure that we have no case of flooding this year. This can only happen the moment the residents desist from dumping refuse indiscriminately and on our waterways. As government is doing its beat by making sure our waterways are expanded, residents must also do theirs."

Speaking earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Environment and Sanitation, Mr. Richard Oyegbami commended the state government for being proactive and for not paying lip service to the welfare of the people.

He said, "For us not witnessing flooding in Osun, it's as a result of the proactiveness of the State Government and I must commend our amiable Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, for attending to the yearnings of the people. We are here today because the government is responsive and responsible.

Engr. Kamardeen Olatunde, Director, Flood Control and Engineering Services, Ministry of Environment and Sanitation, maintained that the approach being introduced by the current administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke is doing is unprecedented compared with what it used to be.

"This is massive, as you can see. We have three heavy machines that are working here. The expansion is good and it will allow free flow of water, but we must say this, our people must also comply with government's directive in disposing their wastes. It is an offence dumping refuse on our roads.

Residents of the environment were so elated seeing the ongoing dredging as they trooped out, pledged their support to the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke.

Speaking on behalf of the community, Elder Francis Oyewuyi prayed for the Governor and members of his cabinet.

Counting his ordeal during the administration of former Governor Gboyega Oyetola, elder Oyewuyi said despite his suggestions on how the dredging should go during the year, he said they turned a deaf ear and at the end, he said he lost over 100 pigs to the flooding.

He further said, "Let me say it here, Governor Adeleke is a loving person and we are enjoying his government and his style, he should continue in that direction. I can assure him that his second term will an easy ride, by the grace of God", He declared.

Nairaland / General / SA Lukman Calls For Action Following Owode Market Fire Incident by Jimsonjaat96(m): 10:01am On Apr 04
Hon. Amb Salahudeen Lukman, also known as Eluku Omo Adugbo, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) 2023 candidate for Ojomu Balogun Constituency, has expressed concern and called for action following a devastating fire incident at Owode Market.

In a statement released late yesterday, Lukman highlighted the crucial role Owode Market plays in the economic landscape of Offa community and Kwara state. Drawing from personal experience as a native of the area and the son of a market woman, he emphasized the market's significance as a major economic hub within the Ibolo kingdom.

Lukman underscored the severity of the recent fire inferno, describing it as not only a setback for the affected traders who lost their goods and shops but also a detriment to the broader economy of Offa and Kwara state.

Expressing his heartfelt sympathy for the victims, Lukman called for concerted efforts towards the economic recovery of those affected by the tragedy. He also proposed proactive measures to mitigate the risk of future fire outbreaks, including the engagement of Owode market stakeholders by officers of the Federal Fire Service and the establishment of a fire service mini station within the market premises.

Furthermore, Lukman commended the support provided by local leaders, including HRM Oba Muftau Gbadamosi Esuwoye, Senator Oyelola Ashiru, Hon Jare Olatundun, and the TIC chairman of Offa Local Government, to the affected individuals and families. He urged for continued collaboration to address the challenges facing the community.

In closing, Lukman emphasized the importance of initiatives such as the development of Offa New Market to alleviate congestion at Owode Market and facilitate economic growth in the region.

HIS FULL STATEMENT

Owode Fire Incident: My sincere sympathy goes out to the victims, our dear community, and my words to KWSG.

As a son of the soil, the impact of the Owode market on the economic landscape of Offa community and Kwara state can't be overstated. Growing up in the community as the son of a market woman, trained with the proceeds of Owode market blessings, I can proudly state, without fear or favor, that it's the major economic hub of the Ibolo kingdom.

The above description further justifies the economic significance of the market to the commercial stability of Offa and Kwara state at large. Such an ugly incident of a fire inferno remains not only a setback for the victims who lost their goods and shops but also a drawback to the economy of Offa and Kwara state at large.

I sincerely offer my deep sympathy to the traders who lost their goods and shops in the incident, while praying for the economic recovery of the losses in multiple folds.

However, considering the trend of fire outbreaks reoccurring in the market, I humbly recommend the engagement of Owode market shop owners and traders by officers of the Federal Fire Service on fire emergency management and response. I also appeal for the establishment of a fire service mini station within the Owode market to speed up responses to fire emergencies, which will reduce the impact should such an ugly event attempt to reoccur.

I commend our royal father HRM Oba Muftau Gbadamosi Esuwoye, the Senator representing Kwara South at the National Assembly Sen. Oyelola Ashiru, Hon Jare Olatundun, the TIC chairman of Offa Local Government, among other political office holders from our dear community, for their support so far to the victims. May Allah end fire calamities in our land. Efforts must be concentrated to make Offa New Market work going forward so as to decongest the popular Owode market for expansion and economic boom.

Signed

Hon. Comr Salahudeen A Lukman

Nairaland / General / A New Dawn For Offa: Rebuilding Owode Market And Paving The Way by Jimsonjaat96(m): 9:29pm On Apr 02
A New Dawn for Offa: Rebuilding Owode Market and Paving the Way for Economic Prosperity.

Offa, a vibrant town in Kwara State, Nigeria, has long relied on the bustling commerce of its main market, Owode Market, as a cornerstone of its economic activity. However, recent tragedies have cast a shadow on this vital hub, with recurring infernos highlighting the urgent need for action to address overcrowding and inadequate infrastructure. To confront this pressing challenge and reignite economic growth, collaborative efforts from government and stakeholders are essential to establish a new market in Offa.

Owode Market, with its 3,820 shops and 1,180 stands, has been at the heart of Offa's bustling trade scene for years, drawing traders and shoppers from near and far. Yet, its popularity has led to severe congestion, posing significant safety risks for all involved. Despite attempts to enhance safety measures, including fire prevention initiatives and training for market personnel, the underlying issue of overcrowding persists.

The recent infernos that have ravaged Owode Market serve as stark reminders of the urgency of the situation. While the majority of the market remained intact, approximately 50 shops and 46 stalls bore the brunt of the devastation. In response, market women, a significant portion of the affected traders, are calling on the government for initial palliative support before embarking on the daunting task of rebuilding their stalls.

To address these challenges, decisive action is needed to establish a new market in Offa. By providing an alternative venue for commerce, the new market would alleviate the strain on Owode Market and reduce the risk of future infernos. Moreover, strategic planning and investment in modern infrastructure are crucial to ensuring the new market meets the highest safety standards and fosters economic growth.

The establishment of a new market presents a unique opportunity to stimulate economic prosperity in Offa. By creating an environment conducive to commerce and trade, the new market would attract investment, generate employment opportunities, and foster entrepreneurial ventures within the community. Additionally, it would complement existing initiatives aimed at revitalizing the local economy, positioning Offa as a dynamic commercial center with abundant prospects for development.

In conclusion, the recent infernos in Owode Market underscore the imperative for action to establish a new market in Offa. Government and stakeholders must collaborate to address this pressing issue, ensuring the safety of traders and shoppers while laying the groundwork for sustainable economic growth. Through collective effort and commitment, Offa can emerge stronger and more resilient, charting a new path towards prosperity for all.

Politics / Governor Adeleke Is Fixated On Selfless Service - Aide by Jimsonjaat96(m): 8:54pm On Mar 31
Governor Ademola Adeleke is administering Osun state with a people centric approach and with an eye on good legacies rather than material acquisition, his Spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed has declared.

Speaking on Diamond FM programme, Enun Onikan, Mallam Rasheed debunked what he called “several lies and untruths being peddled by the opposition in the state”, declaring that “Mr Governor is delivering so well across the sectors.

“ The opposition APC and their operatives are simply overwhelmed by the superlative performance of Mr Governor, hence their resorting to bare faced lies and untruths . Unfortunately, the more the lies, the more the unpopularity of the opposition among the people.

“ Let me point out that no member of the Adeleke family is a contractor with the Osun State Government. Neither our revered leader, Dr Deji Adeleke nor the global music icon, David Adeleke, is involved in the Osun contract. It is a lie from the pit of hell to say Pacific Holding is involved in the borehole project in Osun.

“ The companies handling major projects in Osun have been published and nowhere is any Adeleke owned company listed as a contractor. If only those agents of fake news know how much God has materially blessed the Adeleke family, they will not dare level such evil, baseless allegations”, Mr Rasheed said in response to questions.

Speaking on several attacks from the opposition on ongoing infrastructure programmes of the state government, Mallam Rasheed posited that the opposition is pained that Governor Adeleke is succeeding where it failed, stressing that “ whatever the discomfiture the opposition may be experiencing, Mr Governor is delivering good governance in Osun State.

“ As of today in Osun, Mr. Governor is delivering on physical and stomach infrastructure. Food distribution has commenced statewide. Infrastructure projects are ongoing statewide. Like the CEO of the News Agency of Nigeria recently put it, Osun is a huge construction site.

“ Complete renovation of several schools, primary healthcare centres and construction of flyover bridges as well as road dualisation are ongoing. Despite the high cost of construction materials, the administration innovates to construct without disruption.

“ Mr Governor at the same time is continuing the payment of half salary and pension debt inherited from the previous government. The administration is paying salary as at when due while wage award is going on at the same time. The opposition is dazed with this speedy delivery by Mr Governor, hence recent rantings and tantrums.

“ But the good thing is that Osun is a very enlightened society. Our people know that the current government is doing its best, delivering where the previous government failed. Our people know lies from the truth.

“ The public also have their own approval rating of Mr. Governor. We all know no government in the world can have a 100 percent approval rating. People claimed Mr Governor's approval rating is 90 percent but our review is around 80 percent. The 20 percent is an area Mr Governor is working to attend to

On reports that boreholes sunk in phase one of the infra plan are no longer working, Mallam Rasheed debunked the claims, clarifying that there is a ward management committee managing each borehole and that the boreholes are working statewide.

On the issue of food inflation and food security, Mallam Rasheed told the audience that Mr Governor through the Ministry of Agriculture is implementing measures to support farmers ahead of the raining season, listing plans on cocoa and cashew revitalization plan, access to tractors and security steps to secure farms for farming activities.

On the issue of Youth unemployment, Mallam Rasheed described it as a national problem on which both the state and the Federal Government are working to improve ease of doing business to deepen the capacity of the private sector to employ.

On food inflation, he listed the expected report of the food security committee as containing many measures to curb local food inflation even as he noted that the inflationary crisis is a national task which is receiving attention from the Federal Government.

Mallam Rasheed repeated the Easter message of Mr Governor in which the Governor highlighted his resolve to forge ahead with delivery of good governance within the context of rule of law and fear of God.

Comrade Arapasopo emphasized the significance of Easter as a time for reflection, renewal, and spreading love, urges the workers to imbibe the virtues of Easter by manifesting the spirit of love through forgiveness, sacrifice, hope, and sincerity in whatever they do.

"Today we remember, we celebrate, and we believe that Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, has conquered sin and death through his faithfulness and resurrection."

The NLC Chairman said he owes it not only as a moral obligation to continually remind the government of her duties and obligations to the people, but also to sensitize the people of their rights.

He noted: "At a time like this, when the Nigerian Workers are facing a lot of overwhelming challenges, the angel's startling announcement "He has risen" calms our troubled souls, mends our brokenness, gives us inner peace, and strengthens our faith.

He said the Nigeria Labour Congress, Osun State Council has been working and will not relent in its mandate to promote, defend, and advance the economic, political, and social rights as well as the wellbeing of Nigerian workers and pensioners.

"The NLC Chairman wishes to express gratitude to the Governor of Osun State, Senator (Dr.) Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, for his concern for workers' welfare packages in the State. He also advised that the Governor should continue with the good gesture towards workers and the entire populace. In particular, he calls on the State Government to promptly implement the New Living Wage if and when it is announced by the Federal Government.

The Chairman also wishes to inform the workers that the organized Labour Movement has been in discussions with the State Government on how to further improve the lives of Osun Workers and Pensioners and it promises to share more details as the arrangements are put in place and finalized.

He added that the Organized Labour has engaged the government on the need to resuscitate the Motor Vehicle Refurbishing Loan and Housing Loan. This should also come with long-term repayment tenure and reasonable administrative charges. If this is done, it will not only bring comfort but also go a very long way in easing the financial tension and burden on Workers. It will also enhance their productivity.
The flexible eligibility requirement of Osun State Motor Vehicle Refurbishing Loan beats the conditions of any bank loan, any day and time.

"May the hope of the risen Christ's loving presence and healing love continue to be our hopes and commitment during these difficult times, and may the eternal flame of His love continue to radiate in us and through us.

"Happy Ester!"

Politics / Tinubu Told To Declare State Of Emergency On Electricity by Jimsonjaat96(m): 2:10pm On Mar 30
The National President, National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE), Comr. Engr. Adebiyi Adeyeye has urged the Federal Government to declare a state of emergency on power sector.
Engr. Adeyeye who frowned at the epileptic power supply in Nigeria, describes the situation as unpalatable and unbearable, asking the Federal Government under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to as a matter of urgency, call to a roundtable, all major stakeholders in power sector.
Comr. Engr. Adeyeye urged the Federal Government to look critically into the power sector, makes substantial changes where necessary, noting that many companies are on a daily basis folding up due to unstable power supply which is not the best for the country at this critical time.
He said part of what is contributing to the failing economy in the country is power supply and if the country must be rescued, the Federal Government must be ready to revamp the already dying power sector by conveying a meeting which will comprise all the major stakeholders in power sector.
He noted: "No doubt, the Federal Government is making frantic efforts to improve the power generation in the country but they need to show some level of seriousness in making sure that Nigerians enjoy stable power supply.
"Yes, I'm aware that last month, the Federal Government issued a marching order, asking the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC, to withdraw licenses of non-performing electricity distribution companies, DISCOs. Both the Generating and Transmission companies must also be ready to show commitment. You can only distribute what is available."
The NUEE boss said government should encourage and harness the abundant renewable energy source as against the use of fossil fuel to improve power generation and reduce the effect of climate change in Nigeria as the world is moving towards just energy transition.
Speaking further, Engr. Adeyeye said that since the privatisation of the power sector in November 2013, all of the hope and expectations that privatisation will add value to the life of the poor and bring meaningful impact and improvement to the power sector has been dashed. The myriad of problems bedevilling the sector prior to the privatisation exercise has worsened and increased in multiple folds.
“Take, for instance, the megawatt output of the Generating Companies has been dwindling. As at this morning, the total megawatt we operate on is 4,300MW with the incessant collapse of the national grids. This is quite unfortunate, with a population of over 200 million. How do we improve our economy under this kind of arrangement?
"Investors are leaving the country, moving to neighbouring countries all because we don't have stable power supply. This is sad and shameful.
"Thousand of Nigerians are losing their jobs owing to the fact that many companies are on diesel to power their generators which has wrecked havoc on the finances of these companies, hence they reduce their workforce.
The President, Comr. Engr. Adeyeye bemoaned at how some Distribution Companies treat his members, saying it must stop henceforth.
"Let me make it expressly clear, my members are ever ready to give in their best, the Distribution Companies must also be ready to take their welfare with every seriousness it deserves by providing necessary logistics, because all of us are stakeholders in the power sector hence no body should be left behind", the President noted.

Politics / Rivers APC Berates Critics, Defends President Tinubu, FCT Minister Nyesom Wik by Jimsonjaat96(m): 5:08pm On Mar 29
In response to recent criticisms leveled against the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Rivers State issued a robust riposte.
The party, led by its state Chairman Chief Tony C Okocha addressed what its deemed as “unsavory virtuperations” orchestrated by Dr. Abiye Sekibo and others against the President, APC, and the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike

The APC dismissed the criticisms as the handiwork of “defeated and conquered politicians” who harbor resentment over electoral defeat. They highlighted the protesters’ affiliation with Atiku’s 2023 Presidential Campaign in Rivers State, underscoring their bias.
Furthermore, the APC accused the protesters of fostering intra-party squabbles and promoting falsehoods about key figures within the party. They refuted allegations linking the Honourable Minister of the FCT to political crises in Rivers State, attributing such issues to internal party dynamics.
The statement emphasized the protesters’ past actions, including campaigns against prominent APC figures and propagation of derogatory narratives. The APC denounced attempts to destabilize Rivers State and questioned the protesters’ motives and sincerity.
In closing, the APC reaffirmed its rejection of the protesters’ document, dismissing it as lacking authority and representing only a fringe group’s perspective.

THE CUL~DE~SAC OF SORE LOSERS: A RIPOSTE TO THE UNSAVORY VIRTUPERATIONS OF DR. ABIYE SEKIBO, et al, AGAINST MR. PRESIDENT OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA, APC AND THE HONOURABLE MINISTER OF FCT
The attention of the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Rivers State was drawn to a text of Press conference hosted yesterday by some unrepentant Atiku/PDP supporters in Rivers State.
Our initial thought was to ignore the cul de sac machinated by the defeated and conquered politicians, who led the failed onslaught to lie, barefaced, to Nigerians on the Gov. Siminalayi Fubara’s self~inflicted political fisticuffs in Rivers State. But we feared that allowing their lies to go unchallenged and fester, will distort the true records. Hence, we elected to immediately put out a quick response as counter examples to the blatant lies they peddled and canvassed.
The second reason why we would have opted for the choice of consigning the complete puerile text to the trashcan and don’t bother with it, is that the presenters lucidly introduced themselves as unrepentant leaders of Atiku’s 2023
Presidential Campaign in Rivers State and so, forayed a bit, into their intra~party squabbles.
We couldn’t have joined them in that gymnastics arena. It would have been completely nonsensical. But in their attempt to being clever by half, they drew the irk of genuine APC members, particularly the adherents of Renewed Hope Agenda in Rivers State, through the unguided spews in their presentation
The undeniable fact of the matter is that all those that lined up on that table and signatories to the text in issue, are still ardent believers of HE Atiku Abubakar. (Kindly take a look at the flex banner behind the table where they sat and read the jejune script)
“Res ipsa loquitor “.
It was deliberate and intentional.
These persons can never forgive President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and APC over the sin of their electoral defeat. Of course, it follows therefore, that anyone whose action or inaction, contributed to their dangerous fall, is inadvertently their sworn enemy. No wonder, they are surreptitiously targeting to cut out a pound of flesh from the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, His Excellency, Chief Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, CON, GSSRS.
What a cul de sac.
A spectacularly failed mission indeed.
This wicked subterfuge cannot work under our watch.
Nigerians know the circumstances and situations and scenarios that played out uniquely in 5 PDP controlled States in the build up to the 2023 Presidential election.
This assembly of protesters did not only vehemently carry out rigorous and excruciating campaigns against Asiwaju but they thrumped up and funded hate speeches against Asiwaju.
They and ilk, championed the obscene and absurd denigration of Asiwaju in the media.
They promoted the narrative that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu was frail.
Mentally senile.
Defecates on self and so, wears diapers.
Extremely old and incapable of presiding over Nigeria
Infact, they played God by promoting that Asiwaju was on the departure lounge and will pass on in a bit.
The Protesters raised the issue of the political crisis in Rivers State and made attempts to link the Honourable Minister of the FCT to the fray.
What a puny logic they espoused!
It is so shameful that those champions of the slogan “SERVING SON AFTER FATHER”, when Sir Siminalayi Fubara emerged in the PDP Governorship Primary, are now the “errand boys” of the Son they despised.
Political Crisis in Rivers State is self~inflicted, I reiterate. Both the Governor of Rivers State and the 32 Assembly members were of the same party and family, with HE.E.N Wike, as father.
Why is it the case that 27 Assembly members opted for the opposition party, APC, in Rivers State?
Does anyone think strongly that as full~blown adults, anyone else can lead them by the nose?
Or does anyone think that anyone can sit pretty on their noses?
What of the remaining 3 members still in PDP and with Gov Fubara?
Are they also robots?
The Crisis is about crass inactivity and cluelessness and rudderlessness of the Governor and the penchant of the legislators to whip him to line latching on the principle of separation of powers and checks and balances.
Rivers State is more than drifting to a pariah state, to atrophying into abysmal oblivion.
How does it concern the Honourable Minister of the FCT under our beloved APC, who had long left the rostrum of power in Rivers State Government House?
I am aware that despite our entreaties to the Honourable Minister of the FCT, to join us in APC with his winning magic wand, he still believes in PDP. If the Minister is PDP and the Governor, PDP, is it not apt to say that the bedeviling problems in Rivers State are intra~party?
If the protesters feel concerned, shouldn’t it be honourable for them to look inwards to seek solutions to the problems than constituting themselves as snitches and fifth columnists and crisis merchants and so to justify their lucre, cast aspersions on the Abuja transformer and reformer, HM E. N. Wike?
Why do they want to further insult Mr. President and APC by telling him that he as leader of APC, appointed a kleptocrat into his cabinet as Minister?
When have they repented and withdrawn their suits in court, challenging the Powers of Mr. President to mediate in the political crisis in Rivers State?
Have they repented from emboldening Governor Fubara to disrespect Mr. President by refusing to implement all the indices on the 8~point Presidential Proclamation, as panacea to the political crisis in Rivers State, which by their actions, they have continued to fuel?
If they have respect for Mr. President as they mouth, why would they publicly condemn and refer to as illegal, a proper Assembly made up of 27 members out of now 30 (note that the Rivers State Assembly seats are 32, One member died and one claims to have resigned) All members of the APC, even when Mr. President in index – 6 of the
Presidential proclamation, recognised them as the legitimate Assembly in Rivers State and instructed Governor Fubara to present the State budget to the legitimate Assembly led by Rt Hon Martin Amaewhule?
Why are they calling out and trolling Mr. President, the leader of our Party in such a derogatory manner?
Why are they threatening the fragile peace in Rivers State?
What counsels have they given against the prolifigacies of the PDP~led government in Rivers State?
Are they not the ring leaders of the weekly rip-off of Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Rivers State coffers, through ostentatious jamborees conducted in the 23 LGAs of Rivers State, dubbed thanksgiving for Supreme Court victory of Gov. Fubara.
What was Gov. Fubara’s case before the Supreme Court that was so fearful and obvious that he would have lost, that the Supreme Court, saved? Assuming without conceding that there was, could be worst than all others who appeared before the Supreme Court?
How many State Governors took to such charade in their states even in the prevalence of economic downturn?
Was it not our hitted advocacy that necessitated the holding of Rivers State Executive Council meeting (last Tuesday) that was held last in early December, 2023, yet the Governor continued to rule the state by whims and caprices of a dictator, autocrat and totalitarian?
Have they been able to speak against the export of nudity of some vulnerable, hunger stricken and helpless old Rivers women, funded by the Government of Rivers State, through a Pro~Governor Fubara’s group called RIVERS WOMEN UNITE FOR SIM.
All in the bid to showcase what the Governor referred to as “organic support”.
If the mid~night pseudo lovers of Mr. President as shown in the text under critique, now are convinced that Mr. President is abundantly fit and proper to preside over Nigeria and that his ten months in office has provided Renewed Hope for an eldorado for Nigerians and want to recant their hitherto unsavoury and unprintable toxics against Mr. President, they should follow the proper channels allowed for porting or decamping to a new party.

This approach of braw~beating and blackmailing they intend to use, is not fashionable at all.

Finally, they should know that a tripe document as that signed by two persons without office and/or any authority whatsoever, except as they couched it, FORMER LEADERS OF ATIKU ABUBAKAR 2023 CAMPAIGN DIRECTORS IN RIVERS STATE, cannot qualify as position of Rivers State people. We vehemently reject it.

Nairaland / General / Born At The Same Hospital, Studied In USA, Intern Donates 3.5M Worth Of Medical by Jimsonjaat96(m): 10:15am On Mar 28
It was emotional homecoming for Ifejesu Salam, as she on Wednesday, donated a portable Ultrasound Machine and literary materials worth over 3.5 million naira to the Obstetrics and Gynaecology department of Osun State University Teaching Hospital, the same medical facility where she was born as a baby.

Ifejesu, daughter of Rep Bamidele Salam of Ede federal constituency of Osun State, who studied at the prestigious University of Minnesota,, a foremost research institute in the United States of America and recently completed her MPH Internship at the obstetrics department of the Osun State University medical facility, Osogbo, commended the management and staff of Uniosun Teaching Hospital for their commitment to their calling as life savers, in the midst of very limited resources, pointing out that, she has concluded arrangements for the smooth installation of ultrasound machine for use of the hospital.

According Ifejesu, the additional modern ultrasound machine will no doubt, enable healthcare providers at the hospital conduct on-site obstetric and gynaecology examinations more efficiently, aiding in timely diagnosis and management of various health issues developed by expectant mothers, who according to her, throng the hospital on daily basis for their healthcare needs.

Accompanied by her mother, Mrs Oluwaseyi Salam, the America trained nurse assured the hospital that the ultrasound machine was carefully selected for meeting all required standards for clinical use in any part of the world.

Receiving the ultrasound machine and the medical journals on behalf of the management, the chief medical director of Uniosun Teaching Hospital, Dr Peter Olaitan described Ifejesu as an uncommon breed of research student as well as the first in the record of the hospital, who had the heart of giving back to the facility, let alone donating such equipment as essential as ultrasound machine to aide their medical services to the people.

Dr Olaitan also attested to the medical books Ifejesu provided the hospital as world class learning aides, which are only available in few of the developed countries of the world, just as he assured that all the materials would be put into good use.

Similarly, Dr A.O Atanda, Ifejesu's preceptor and the Consulting Doctor, at obstetrics department, Uniosun Teaching Hospital, eulogized the Awo born Nurse for her work ethics and her unmitigated humility, asking her to continue to live true to such rare attribute, as such could only continue to serve as catalyst to help her through the pinnacle of her chosen profession. He also expressed appreciation on behalf of Doctors and staff of the department for the donated equipments.

Uniosun Teaching Hospital Head of Obstetrics department, Dr Femi Ala, senior nurses and other members of staff of the hospital were also present at the presentation ceremony.

Politics / NNPP: Resignation Of Alhaji Abba Kawu From The Illegal NWC Expected by Jimsonjaat96(m): 9:20am On Mar 28
Dr. Ajuji Ahmed Not a Member of NNPP,

Any Congress or Convention by Kwankwaso and His Co-travelers Is Null and Void,

Senator Kwankwaso Lost to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, ALHAJI ATIKU ABUBAKAR, AND MR. PETER OBI Due to Greed and Arrogance and Should Learn His Lessons:

It has become imperative to react to certain developments in and around our great party in the past few days. It is obvious that God, who knows the mind of everyone, is now manifesting Himself mightily in the affairs of our great party. He has continued to expose the treacherous and evil intentions of Kwankwaso and Buba Galadima, who were innocently allowed into our party in February 2022. Today Senator Kwankwaso, despite being expelled from our party, is associated with illegal and mischievous conduct in relation to disrespect and disobedience to constitutional provisions of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Nigerians must thank God for His intervention and mercy that made him lose, as a man who would not respect the simple provisions of our party's constitution obviously would have done unquantifiable damage to the nation's constitution.

What would have happened to Nigeria and Nigerians if he had won the presidential election? The exit of Prof. Bem Angwe, Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi, Prof. Rufai Ahmed Alkali, and now the resignation of Abba Kawu, who was illegally smuggled in as acting National Chairman by Kwankwaso and Buba Galadima in his personal house in Maitama from an illegal gathering of expelled members of the New Nigeria People's Party, speaks volumes of avoidable impunity and greed. Nigerians should be wary of such characters and must never put the destiny of our dear country into the hands of such cheats at any level as we approach the next General Elections.

Nigerians may not know that a struggling young man, Mr. Philip Oyinu Haruna, who made it possible for Kwankwaso to secure presidential candidacy in 2023, is today facing oppression and abuse just because he demanded his consultancy fees of one hundred million naira (N100,000,000.00), a mere nomination fee equivalent in PDP and APC in the presidential cadre.

Nigerians may not know that the illegal new chairman appointed by the gathering of non-members of the New Nigeria People's Party, Dr. Ajuji Ahmed, was the man who actually provided the opportunity for Senator Kwankwaso to meet Mr. Philip Oyinu Haruna.

Nigerians shall soon know the internal wrangling and grumbling in Kano state administration due to Kwankwaso's dictatorial tendencies wherein the elected members of the New Nigeria People's Party do not have the opportunity to even employ a cleaner. The situation in Kano state is a ticking time bomb that we are determined to arrest as it would pull down the fortunes of the party if allowed to further degenerate due to the selfish and greedy interests of Kwankwaso.

The insatiable desire to take everything has now left on the lips of elected representatives on our party's platform the unanswered question of how they can reward all the people that helped them to win the election.

It is most unfortunate that Dr. Ajuji Ahmed, a gentleman of repute and high pedigree, can fall into an avoidable mess. The internal crisis of NNPP is becoming interesting wherein INEC is beginning to ensure proper regulation and control of political parties in Nigeria. INEC's torchlight is presently beamed on the internal workings of our party and is now beginning to understand the intrigues of Senator Kwankwaso and his co-travelers.

The most interesting thing is that INEC now ensures internal democracy in every political party administration other than merely relying on court orders. What this simply means is that the constitutional provisions of political parties other than courts are getting recognition and now respected by INEC. We thank the INEC chairman and his team members for this new disposition. We urge Nigerians to continue to pray for the commission under Prof. Mahmud Yakub to succeed as we head to 2027.

We urge Nigerians to disregard the alleged new appointment of Dr. Ajuji Ahmed as the acting national chairman of NNPP. Dr. Ajuji is among the members of the national working committee that was disbanded and its members subsequently expelled from the party in 2023.

It is equally on record that every activity of the Senator Kwankwaso-led illegal gathering of non-members of NNPP is before competent courts of law, and INEC as the agency of the government charged with the responsibilities of regulating and controlling political parties in Nigeria is in possession of all documents and processes relating to ongoing legal actions.

We urge INEC to discontinue any further dealings with this illegal group pending the determination of all lawsuits filed in the federal high Courts and court of appeal by Dr. Agbo Major Gilbert, the original and rightful chairman of the New Nigeria People's Party.

New Nigeria People's Party was registered in 2001, has participated and won elections since then. Senator Kwankwaso joined in 2022 for the purpose of contesting the president of Nigeria after having been rejected by APC, PDP, PRP, and ACCORD due to treachery and insatiable greed. We considered and pitied his position and today his body language is to highjack the party and propagate Kwankwasia movement, an impossible dream. NAGAFF, the parent body of NNPP is presently working on strategies to reclaim its baby and all options including picketing and public demonstration are on the table.

What a seemingly ungrateful Nigerian in the name of politics. We equally want to inform all members of NNPP to note that the illegal congress and national convention have been stopped by a federal high in Abuja and INEC is duly served.

What we must state clearly is that we are getting ready to look for our bag of stolen money and those who have resigned suddenly should be advised to ensure that all monetary transactions are accounted. The mismanaged funds are public funds and relevant government agencies are presently working on modalities to protect public interest.

Thank you for listening.

Alhaji ABDULSALAM Abdulrazaq.

National Publicity Sec,

NNPP Hqrs Abuja.
Politics / Kwara: Opposition Leader Berates Gov Abdulrazaq Over Poor Health Sector by Jimsonjaat96(m): 11:35am On Mar 27
Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has been called upon to be up and doing following allegations of apparent failure of the healthcare system to fulfill its primary purpose of saving lives in the state.

Health practitioners in the state have also been alleged of negligence and deliberate mismanagement, prompting calls for urgent intervention.

This was coming after a child allegedly died in Offa General Hospital due to seemly unprofessionalism and short-staff over the weekend.
This call was made by Comrade Salaudeen A. Lukman, popular as Eluku Omo Adugbo, the Peoples Democratic Party candidate for Ojomu Balogun Constituency in the 2023 general elections on March 27, 2024.

He criticized the Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq-led for what many perceive as its role in converting hospitals into morgues. He added that the essence of a hospital, as a place for medical care and healing, seems to have been lost in the state, leaving citizens vulnerable and without adequate healthcare services.

He cited recent incidents, such as the tragic loss of a child at Offa General Hospital due to alleged shortages of manpower and neglect, have highlighted the dire situation facing Kwara's healthcare system. Similar cases of medical emergencies gone unaddressed have become all too common, raising questions about the competence and efficiency of those tasked with managing the state's healthcare infrastructure.

Hon. Comr Salahudeen A Lukman, speaking on behalf of concerned citizens, has called on the Kwara State Government to declare a state of emergency in the healthcare sector. Urgent measures, including manpower and facility upgrades, are deemed essential to prevent further loss of innocent lives.

He went on to propose privatization of hospitals in Kwara if the state government is unable to effectively manage them. This suggestion comes amidst growing frustration over what many perceive as the systematic failure of the healthcare system to meet the needs of the people.

Conclusively, he suggested the transformation of the Kwara State College of Health Technology Offa into a State University of Medical Science. This move, he said, aims to address the shortage of medical professionals in the state and ensure that adequate training facilities are available to meet the growing demand for healthcare services.

Governor Abdulrasak is urged to reconsider his priorities and take decisive action to safeguard the lives of Kwarans. Failure to address these issues could result in further unnecessary loss of life and continued dissatisfaction with the state of healthcare in Kwara.

HIS PRESS STATEMENT IS REPRODUCED BELOW
A HOSPITAL OR A MORGUE: SAVE KWARIANS FROM AVOIDABLE DEATHS - PRIVATIZE KWARA HOSPITALS IF STATE GOVERNMENT CAN'T MANAGE THEM EFFICIENTLY ANY LONGER.

In a sane climate, the Kwara State Government, Ministry of Health, and Kwara State Hospital Management Board should be sued for negligence and deliberate conversion of Kwara Hospitals to morgues. The literal meaning and purpose of a hospital, a healthcare facility expected to help citizens medically, have been defeated in Kwara state today under Governor Abdul Rahman Abdulrasak. Many Kwarans who take their loved ones to the general hospital often end up in the morgue as the hospital services have degenerated and deteriorated to the extent that saving lives or rescuing medical emergencies has become almost impossible.

A case study of Offa General Hospital over the last weekend: a child was lost due to alleged shortage of manpower, negligence, and poor service culture in the hospital. This is one of many similar cases Kwarans experience on a daily basis in the general hospitals across the state. Why should Kwarans pay so much for the incompetence of a few in charge of health ministry affairs of the state?

It's on this ugly trend that I call on the Kwara State Government to, as a matter of urgency, declare a state of emergency in the state health sector. Manpower and facility upgrades are highly needed in the hospitals, particularly the Offa General Hospital. The state may privatize the hospital if they cannot effectively manage the sector, instead of constituting the official murdering of innocent sick citizens who unknowingly patronize the hospital for care, unaware that the hospitals are mere edifices without adequate manpower and facilities, now a morgue.
Another reason I advise the Kwara State Government to look into upgrading the Kwara State College of Health Technology Offa into a State University of Medical Science is to boost manpower development for health-related professionals in the state. This will go a long way in increasing the number of medical doctors and other medical professionals in the state while facilities are upgraded.

Kwara does not lack teachers as much as medical doctors. Moving to convert state colleges of Education to universities of education is more or less a misplacement of priorities.

Governor Abdulrasak should reconsider this action and save Kwarans from avoidable deaths caused by Kwara Hospitals in the state.
Signed,
Hon. Comr Salahudeen A Lukman ELUKU OMO ADUGBO"

Politics / Rivers APC Says Ugochinyere Ikenga Lacks Locus Standi To Discuss Party Affairs by Jimsonjaat96(m): 5:08pm On Mar 26
All Progressives Congress (APC), Rivers State, has said the constant rant of Hon Ugochinyere Ikenga is worrisome. The party caretaker committee, led by Sir (Chief) Tony Okocha, DSSRS, issued a press statement at the party secretariat in Port Harcourt. With the chairman were: Chief Eric Nwibani (Secretary), Hon Darling Amadi (Women Leader), Hon Ikenga Chibuike (Publicity Secretary), and Warisenibo Dan Jumbo (Welfare).
Chief Okocha, who spoke on behalf of the caretaker committee, said, "We have been paying keen attention to the constant rants by one Ugochinyere Ikenga, where he discussed issues not within his jurisdiction. As a non-Rivers man, he lacks the locus standi to discuss Rivers matters. Ugochinyere doesn't represent any of the 13 federal House of representatives seats from Rivers State. He rather represents the Ideato Federal constituency in Imo state. When and how is he qualified to speak about Rivers?"
Sir Tony further said, "As APC Rivers State, it is expedient to state that Ugochinyere is not fit to discuss our state issues. When Imo state had insecurity issues, Ikenga said and did nothing. There are also indications he is an accomplice to the crimes in Imo. It was so bad the police were instructed not to follow VIPs to Imo except on express approval from the IG, but he saw nothing and did nothing. As a member of PDP in Imo state, how has he helped Imo state? His interest is only to fill his pockets by the government of Rivers who are obviously clueless themselves. I was chief of staff in Rivers State when we were bantering with the federal government, and he knows the assistance the state gave to him through my office."
He further opined, "We will no longer tolerate his excesses at this point. In his lies, he alleged that the House of Assembly vetoed the governor's rights and didn't send him notice of the bills. I make bold to say all the laws vetoed are bills sent to the governor, and he refused to sign. The constitution provides for the assembly to override the governor after 30 days of notice. For him to say the assembly overrides the governor is a blatant lie; we will not accept it. He also claimed the assembly sits in their homes, and that's an insult and a terrible lie. We all know their sittings are always on both social and traditional media. As for the issue of the assembly being right or wrong, it is a matter to be decided by the courts."
Regarding the issue of the seat of assembly members who defected to APC being vacant, Sir Okocha said, "Section 40 of the constitution gives the right to freedom; section 68 (G) states that everyone has the right to belong to a political party; section 109, sub-section G, was express as to why, how, and when a political party can be formed. For Ikenga to become a judge for a matter already in court is worrisome. I'm not surprised because he is a kindergarten law marker and doesn't know that the constitution provides that a quorum be formed and so far more than two-thirds of the assembly have been seated. Who hired him as a lawyer or Amigus (friend) of the state? If he is, he will churn out opinions to help the state. It's quite obvious he is the hiring of the Governor. He (Ugochinyere) didn't see the recklessness of the state government where hundreds of millions are spent for jamboree thanksgiving, unlike other governors who think out of the box. Ikenga didn't see when elderly women were made to dress half-naked; he didn't see anything wrong with the fact that the government had refused to hold local government elections, but he saw everything wrong with the assembly trying to maintain law and order in the state."
Regarding the performance of Governor Sim Fubara, Chief Tony Okocha said, "The Governor is visionless and clueless; he should ask his colleagues in Borno, Lagos, and Akwa Ibom how they are making their people happy. Someone should point to one thing the governor has done so far; they always mention paying salaries, and in all sincerity, paying salaries is not an achievement as you have to pay people working for you. His media handlers came 'too late for breakfast.' There's an adage they say in my place, 'A man who did not participate in the burial of a corpse, when it's time to exhume, he starts from the head.' They are not Rivers people and therefore do not know anything about this state. During former Governor Amaechi's time, in his first hundred days in office, he had projects scattered all over the state, former Governor Wike took the stage & outlined his achievements, they can bring proof and challenge him if it's a lie."
The caretaker committee chairman continued, "Mr. President gave 8 points to all conflicting parties and said anyone who fails will face dire consequences. Governor Sim has done just about 6, and half obedience is equal to disobedience; those advising him should as well advise him to follow the directives of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu."
Finally, Rivers APC made the following demands:
1. Within 48 hours, Honorable Ikenga Chibuike should apologize to Rivers people for doing hatchet work for a governor and government in coma.
2. He should stay in his lane, knowing Rivers State is not a pariah State.
3. He should take his verbal diarrhea to Imo state if he so wishes, as Rivers state won't tolerate nonsense.

The message of crass incompetence and cluelessness akin to Gov Siminialaye Fubara as clinically espoused cannot be obliterated/diminished by the puerile spews of community/ethnic jingoists.

We live in a society with others. We should compare scenarios and make value judgements devoid of bias, prejudice and/idiosyncrasies.

For me, it is a noble course. I shall not be detracted, deterred or distracted from the epicentre of offering for posterity, because of uninformed and dirty minds.

Rather, I am further spurred to bring out the best in me.

Luckily, apart from the distance covered via the Traditional media, New media transport farther to the world.

Critical minds all over the World, read the facts we posit and make informed decisions. They care less with the abuses rained on the positor of the apodethic and didactic facts.

When we say that Rivers State is speedily retarding in development, compared to Lagos, Borno, Akwa Ibom, Kaduna, Niger, etc, we put out weightens or standards or yardsticks.

When we try to unearth the reason for the inglorious retardation of Rivers State and establish a nexus with visionless and rudderless Government of Gov Siminialaye Fubara, are we guilty of heresy?

Does Gov Siminialaye Fubara himself, knows of the dangerous fall?

Did he not in a video footage that was shared here and that went viral, confess that he is not happy?

How else does a confused and unhappy man, get helped better, than exposing him to his foolery and offering him solutions to whip him back to track?

Are we placing a price tag to it or we offer pro bono?

Socrates (taunted as the wisest man that lived) submitted that "an unexamined life is not worth living".

When therefore, we offer to a sinking Gov Sim, to apply the brakes and route through a part away from perdition, are we being unreasonable?

Gov Sim's case is likened to the Cricket roasting on fire, emiting oil from the heat of fire and dying. A foolish watcher standing by instead of attempting to save the cricket, construes the object as having excess oil.

Our shrapnel will continue to detonate on the directionless Gov Sim.
It is a germane course to genuinely fight.

Any living citizen of Rivers State that in clear conscience, supports Gov Sim's administrative ineptitude and irresponsiveness to the plight of Rivers State people at this time when other State Governors are intentionally putting out programmes and policies to better the lots of her citizenry, is wickedly complicit.

Why do you groan and grumble in secret and go public to eulogise same person who is the reason for your woes?
Why?

Which responsible citizen will be unhappy that Civil servants are being promoted and will earn corresponding wages? (though courtesy of the huge accruals to the State from the Federal government).

Which responsible citizen of Rivers State will be happy that Rivers State coffers are being thrown open for senseless jamborees in the garb of thanksgiving?

Which responsible Rivers State Citizen is happy with the half naked pictures of those Rivers women who were mobilised and so clad, for peanut, by a Pro ~Gov Sim's organisation ~RIVERS WOMEN UNITE FOR SIM?

Which responsible Rivers State citizen, will be happy over the disconnect between the Legislative arm and the Executive arm?

Which responsible Rivers State citizen will be comfortable that in the rather unfortunate ground for so called thanksgiving, (still wondering to who), it is an avenue for innuendos against the chief benefactor of the Gov Sim's government?

Who is happy in Rivers State that Gov Sim runs the State as a private estate not convening and holding meeting of State Executive Council, where ideas, policies and programmes of Government are properly canvassed and thoroughly debated and subsequently approved?

Which responsible citizen of Rivers State will genuinely support that Gov Sim frivolously expends State resources without an approved budget?

The number of infractions are legion. I have just elected to heed to the "Ockam razor postulation, or need I say more?.

So, in these palpable and glaringly hopeless situation, any critic is dubbed as enemy of the State?

Hell No! Silence here, is deafening.

"Evil thrives in society because Just people do nothing".

It is within the precinct of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Rivers State, as the main opposition party in the State, to stand up for the circumstantially helpless and hopeless mass of our people.

Like Gov Sim himself said on his return from inspecting the section of the Rivers State House of Assembly complex which was burnt by agents mobilised by the State Government (Yes. I say this categorically because, no committee was empanelled by Gov Sim or the State Government, to uncover those behind the inferno on the Assembly complex or was there a report that the mysterious fire was caused by electric/power surge/spark).

I quote Gov Sim thusly "... I will fight those who want to dis~stabilise my Government. And if I die in the course, I would want to be remembered as one who was a hero..."

APC Rivers will conversely not die. We will continue to vehemently fight against an intransigent and clueless and visionless Government of Gov Sim.
No distractions from red herrers or goons or urchins or community/tribal/ethnic jingoists, will deter us.

The sum of 28.4 billion naira has just accrued from federal allocation and been received by Gov Sim on behalf of Rivers State for the month of February, 2024.

Another 12 billion naira or thereabout, as internally generated revenue (IGR) is certain.

A cumulative total sum of 40.4 billion naira is sure in the treasury of Rivers State for the month of February, 2024.

No wonder State Government sponsored jamborees across Local Government Areas and streets, have resumed as avenues to retire the huge cash.

We can't consciousness book a place in the hottest place in hell by deciding to be indifferent or sit idly-by while our State atrophy.

Politics / Abuja Court Rules On Suspension Of NNPP Chairmen In Ekiti, Rivers by Jimsonjaat96(m): 12:12pm On Mar 23
In a significant legal development, the Abuja court has issued a ruling regarding the suspension of the Ekiti and Rivers chairmen by the expelled members of NNPP, led by Senator Kwankwaso.

The court, after careful consideration, has decided that the proposed primary elections by Senator Kwankwaso's faction can proceed despite the ongoing legal battle initiated by the chairmen of Ekiti and Rivers states. The ruling emphasizes that halting the primaries could cause irreparable damage to the party.

However, it's worth noting that the defendants in the case have already been expelled from the party, a fact that might not have been fully considered by the court.

This ruling implies that NNPP can move forward with its planned primaries while the legal proceedings regarding the chairmen's removal continue. It underscores the complexity of the situation and the need for adherence to legal processes.

In response to this ruling, members of NNPP, under the leadership of Agbo Gilbert Major, are urged to remain calm and law-abiding. The NNPP legal team will send a reminder letter to INEC regarding the pending court cases, expecting due respect for the legal process.

Moreover, it's clarified that Senator Kwankwaso and the expelled NWC members remain ousted from NNPP, a decision validated by the party's general assembly. The statement also warns against misplaced loyalty and resource wastage by followers of Senator Kwankwaso.

As the legal saga unfolds, NNPP reiterates its commitment to upholding constitutional principles and ensuring justice prevails. The statement concludes with a reminder that the matter might eventually reach the Supreme Court for a final resolution.

Politics / Osun: Adeleke Has Done It Again by Jimsonjaat96(m): 12:12pm On Mar 22
By Sarafa Ibrahim

When I opened my WhatsApp this morning (Friday), I saw an unusual message conveyed by just five words: "Adeleke has done it again". The message came from an unsaved number and out of curiosity, I probed to get the import of the message by asking the sender what has Governor Adeleke done again.

And the follow–up exchanges are as pleasing as intriguing. The message was from one of the thousands of active workers in Osun state who is seemingly impressed with the sustained commitment of Governor Adeleke to their welfare, which was topped with the recent approval by Governor Adeleke for the promotion of civil servants in the state.

In between our engagement, I paused a bit and tried to understand the significance of the Governor's latest gesture to workers in the state. I was deep in this thought when the bitter experience of career stagnation shared with me by a brother who is a civil servant a few years ago crossed my mind. This brother, although more tilted towards the All Progressives Congress (APC), bitterly lamented the cruel fate experienced under the party, which kept civil servants stagnated for several years as a result of no promotion.

The past was tortuous and horrible, and this clearly explains the message of the excited workers seeing the change in attitude towards their welfare and progressions by Governor Adeleke. The promise of career progression was one of the factors that enticed many to join the civil service and endure the series of challenges they encountered.

But the APC made a terrible mess of that promise, unfairly subjecting Osun workers to emotional and economic pains necessitated by the denial of moving the ladder in the service. Even when Gboyega Oyetola, the immediate past governor in the state, pretended to be interested in the growth of workers in the state by granting promotion to them in 2019, it did not go beyond the papers conveying them as he failed throughout his tenure to implement the financial consequence. In essence, it was an audio promotion carefully packaged to deceive Osun workers.

It took the intervention of Governor Adeleke to end the wait of the workers as he implemented the financial implication of the promotion done by Oyetola in May 2023. So, this latest effort is in continuation of his unwavering commitment to the welfare of workers, and demonstrates the interest of the Governor in their situations, particularly at a time like this.

In a statement by his Spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Governor Adeleke said the promotion exercise reaffirms the commitment of his administration to workers welfare. He went on to note that the exercise is unarguably in line with the pursuance of No1 of the 5-Point Action Plan of his administration, which is giving the welfare of public servants topmost priority.

But he didn't stop there as Governor Adeleke was quoted to have said that "I assure all civil servants that the public service reform is on course. We will deliver on a fully professionalized public service. I congratulate the beneficiaries. I urge you to show deeper passion for public service. Our government will ensure the required opportunity for all to operate and display their spirit of service to the state."

From the Governor's words, it was clear that he's not stopping in making sure that civil servants enjoy every due benefit so as not only to make them comfortable but also to motivate them for increased efficiency. No doubt, a happy civil service will translate to improved outputs, which will in turn benefit the people of the state and its economy.

Since assuming office, Governor Adeleke has shown sincere efforts at addressing past maltreatment suffered by the active workers as well as the senior citizens. Between when he assumed the mantle of office and now, Governor Adeleke has paid five months out of the 30 months half salary owed to workers. This was something his predecessor found so hard to do all through his 48–month stay in office despite serving in the administration that incurred the wage-related debt.

It is also worth noting that Osun is on the list of about 15 states out of the 36 states in Nigeria that are paying wage awards for civil servants and pensioners as a measure to cushion the impact of the removal of fuel subsidy. For pensioners, Governor Adeleke has been somewhat incredible because Osun is the first and only state in Nigeria with comprehensive healthcare coverage for senior citizens in the whole of Nigeria. All thanks to Governor Adeleke, pensioners in Osun state no longer have to worry about the cost of managing their health as it will be entirely shoulder by the government.

But that isn't all, because Governor Adeleke has been faithfully working to clear the mountain of pension liabilities inherited and bring to an end the long wait for earned entitlements of people who dedicated their most active lives to the service of the state. At the last count, over N20 billion has been expended in bond payments and associated benefits of pensioners, and in a matter of days, some other beneficiaries will join the list of senior citizens touched.

The long and short of it all is that Governor Adeleke is a fair leader whose interest in the welfare of the people can hardly be quantified. And just as the follow–up exchanges of the person who sent the message to me portrayed, he is desirous of improving the situation of not just workers, but the entirety of the people of the state. But before I go, I like to allay the fear of our APC people that this promotion approved by Governor Adeleke won't follow the 'audio' version of Oyetola's promotion, but one that will be followed to the letters. And it won't take much longer for workers to begin to enjoy the financial benefits that come with it.

Politics / Osun APC Afraid Of Its Fraudulent Past - PDP by Jimsonjaat96(m): 9:32am On Mar 22
Says Adeleke Family not Involved in State Contracts

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun state has lambasted the state’s All Progressive Congress (APC) for questioning the decision of Governor Ademola Adeleke to implement the white paper on contract awards during Oyetola’s administration, tasking the committee to set to work immediately.

Reacting to the state’s APC comments on the implementation committee on the White Paper, the State Chairman of the PDP said the APC is jittery that its four years of plundering Osun state between 2018 to 2022 is about to be exposed for criminal prosecution.

Affirming that the PDP government is not embarking on any fresh probe, the party chairman submitted that Governor Adeleke is only giving effect to the outcome of the Executive Order he issued when he assumed office in 2022.

“The contract review committee conducted an extensive investigation on contracts awarded from 2018 to 2022. It sat between late 2022 to 2023 with many top officials of the Oyetola administration appearing before it. The huge report of the committee was followed with a White Paper recommendations for which the Governor has now set up a committee for implementation.

The implementation panel is the final stage of a process that started in 2022. The day of reckoning is here, hence the trepidation within the State APC. When Oyetola officials appeared before the review committee, a lot of fraudulent irregularities, serious breach of procurement laws, diversion of billions of naira, non-execution of fully paid contracts and barefaced theft of state assets were discovered and documented.

The government has a responsibility to bring to book culprits within the legal framework. The state government is obliged to ensure the implementation of the white paper irrespective of failed blackmail by perpetrators of yesterday’s corruption. The state needs no permission of corrupted agents of yesteryears as to when and how the law should take its course.

If the Oyetola regime was that saintly, how come its officials during testimonies before the review committee practically collapsed when confronted with evidence of their misdeeds? How come the Osun APC itself is crying wolf when its antii-people records are about to be shown to the whole world?

As a party, we also submit that the state government is in full compliance with the procurement laws as all allegations from the opposition are meant to derail the state government from implementing the multi-billion naira infrastructure plan. The execution of projects are ongoing and they will be delivered before the mid-term of this administration.

We also strongly submit that no member of the Adeleke family is involved in any state contract as we firmly refute allegations against Dr Deji Adeleke and Mr David Adeleke. The family is only supporting and rightly so, one of their own to deliver on good governance in Osun state.

While the party called on relevant state agencies to give effect to extant laws on spreading of fake news, it declared that freedom of speech is not equal to maligning, seditious, libelous and character assasination through fake news.

The party commends Governor Adeleke for demonstrating statesmanship by his resolve to implement the white paper on the Contract review committee, urging Committee members to deploy the law to bring culprits to book.

Hon Sunday Bisi,
State Chairman,
Osun State PDP.
Nairaland / General / Much Ado About Kunle Ayanlowo, K1 Former Lead Drummer by Jimsonjaat96(m): 7:43pm On Mar 21
By Lateef Agboola

Since the former Lead Drummer for Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde Anifowose K1 De Ultimate, Mr Ayankunle Ayanlowo, granted an interview on his over 32 years journey with K1, tongues have continued to wag and wag. In fact, those who don't know anything about the Fuji Music, let alone De Ultimate Fuji Organisation have been handed down biased judgements, laced with hatred, not only on Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde, but also on all Fuji Musicians without any iota evidence to back up their "fatwa".
To start with, My name is Alhaji Lateef Akanni Olajide Agboola, my Nickname is Meaningful Boy while my Stage Name is CLAM/KLAM. I would like to inform whoever that cares that I'm a Fuji musician of about three decades on stage, (not including my earlier years as egbe Fuji/Ajiwere band while in Primary School and as a backup vocalist while in secondary school). I launched my Decent Fuji Band on January 29, 1998 2/3 years after I passed out of secondary school, (Onaolapo Memorial High School, Ikirun). For those who know the nooks and crannies of Ikirun, headquarters of Ifelodun local government area of Osun state, my base then was Kajola Street, Oke Afo, opposite Old Sawmill. In those years, I was opportune to sit together with the likes of Baba Wahab Akajewole (Fuji), Late Alhaji Nasiru Alowoesin (Apala), Late Wahab Adakeja (Awurebe), Chief Isola Omosco, Sir Mudasiru Adisa Lancaster, Asunmo Eriki, Ayinde Ganiyu Adetunji "Loshodi", Yoboro Wasiu, among others, being the Secretary of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria, FUMAN in Ifelodun local government, during the tenures of Sir Young Ade and Evangelist Ola Afolabi "Olanfo" as Osun State PMAN Governors, at different times... All these background information are very necessary to tell you where I'm coming from.
Now, to the subject matter, many people are crucifying Band Leaders, especially Fuji Musicians for allegedly not treating their boys well. May God forgive all of you. Let me state categorically that, while there's no doubting the fact that there are some band leaders of such character, the overgeneralization is a sin in the eyes of God. To set the record straight, I would try as much as possible to use myself as an example throughout this narrative, to avoid unnecessary contradictions. As I said earlier, we launched the Decent band in 1998, (after serving under my brother from the same family compound (OLAESE), Mr Lateef Akanmu Niniowo a k a AFONIJE).
IDOWU EESA
My first Lead Drummer was Idowu Eesa from Eko-Ende. In order to satisfy my boys then, I won't care about having my own share of whatever proceeds we got from a show, I'll make sure they were given fat shares while I and my late manager, Asimiyu Abisoye (May Allah grant him eternal rest) would be left with nothing in most cases, and debt at times. One day, we had a very big show in front of Ile Eesa, from the Palace Gate to Oja-Oke junction. Everyone was happy as the celebrants and guests were enjoying one of my recent live shows recording being played from the deck, when we showed up to start the show. After Idowu and a few other boys tested their drums sound, Idowu told me we should go together to bring a guy to help us with the drum set 🥁 and I agreed, because we only had a lead drummer, one omele kannango and one Omele accord and the recorded instrumental/bear. He told me the guy was living around Yemi block, along Igbo'le (for those who are conversant with Ikirun geographical entity) and that he was indisposed and was just recovering, hence we shouldn't let his mother know our mission and because of that, I should wait and let him go inside as a friend, who only came to check on him... I automatically fell for his lying 🤥 🤔 and agreed to wait for him. To cut the story short, I waited in vain for over and hour and was forced to call Idowu, but he refused to pick my calls repeatedly and finally put off his phone. It's after two days that I learnt that Idowu eloped with another musician leaving my band to suffer disgrace and incur a very huge debt, because we couldn't do anything again that day and the celebrant requested for full repayment while I equally had to bear the cost of transportation of musical instruments to and fro. Ajigbotafe Simiyu - the Instruments owner is a living witness. That ended my journey with Idowu before I had an agreement with Hammed Ayansola.
AYANSOLA HAMMED
Ayansola is a professional and mature drummer. We were together when I released my debut album DECENT MUSIC in 2004 under the label of Olalomi Records at Ijesatedo, Lagos. The album shot me into the limelight then, being the first Fuji Musician in Ikirun zone to have achieved the feat. Unfortunately, we fell out with the promoter because we felt cheated by him. Why? That's a story for another day, so as not to derail. The following year, 2005, I decided to embark on self sponsored album BACK TO SENDER which was also launched at Ikirun Town Hall, as the first one. By 2007, I was able to perform the Hajj Pilgrimage of that year in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and before I returned, Hammed Ayansola had eloped with an Islamic musician.
WASIU ALAMU APALARA
The exit of Ayansola brought late Wasiu Alamu Apalara "Alasepo" of the blessed memories into my band and we're together doing well not until one day, we had a day party at Ifon-Osun and another night show at Ipetumodu. We're not the only musical band performing at Ifon-Osun event, there were two others, but we're the best judging by the acceptability. In fact, some celebrants left their stands to come to dance at our own floor. By that time, I didn't know that one of the musicians had "bribed" Apalara to elope with him, not until we're ready to move to Ipetumodu and Wasiu Alamu Onilu-Oro (The Drummer of Wealth💰) was nowhere to be found. Unfortunately, we couldn't get to Ipetumodu not until around 11pm or thereabouts, as we were struggling to have a replacement of the lead drummer, even at night and that's when my path crossed with Ronta Alapala here in Osogbo for the first time and the relationship remains cordial till date. Ronta was the lead drummer drummer for late Tajudeen Akanmu (Akoledowo Omo Oyiboyi) (May God forgive him of all his shortcomings). Ronta saved me that night. Though, the celebrant had, out of annoyance, engaged a musician in their locality thinking that we won't come again, even after several assurances. We later entertained them till dawn of the following day... I didn't because of this abandoned Apalara but I was thinking of alternatives. That led to the engagement of Michael Bamidele, (who was hitherto handling my drumset) as a lead drummer, because he had always showed interest and at any given opportunity, bhe would try his hand on talking drum. Michael Bamidele is the longest among them.
BAMIDELE MICHAEL
Bamidele has been my boy since the day of Hammed Ayansola. In fact, we together arranged the beat for my second album BACK TO SENDER recorded at Afrodesia Studio (formerly Decka Studio) at Abule-Oja, Yaba, Lagos. I spoilt Micheal with everything simply because I like him naturally and I saw future in him. Now, let me tell you some of what he did. Between 2014 and 2022, we had FIVE different band uniforms and:were nowhere to be found by 2022. courtesy of Michael Bamidele. How? As a Band Captain designate, whenever I insist that we shouldn't release our uniforms for those who are not permanent members of the band, he would assure me not to bother myself, that he has had agreement with them, saying they would surely join us in the next show. But in most cases, one by one, they would default with my band uniforms courtesy of my lead drummer and band captain designate. Apart from this, on many occasions, this same guy would abscond on the day of our shows to lead drum for other musicians who have paid him extraordinarily and when he returns, he would lie to me that he was in seclusion in the church, when available evidences would prove otherwise. It would interest you that, I pay him double of the normal rentage of drums, not only for his Apala/Gangan drums rentage, but also for other percussions, out of which he would not even give other guys what belongs to them without being inflated. There's an incident that almost led me into disrepute. Late last year 2023, a Saxophonist with my band, Bukunmi, was having his wedding and he called to tell me that I would be the Musician of the day. Ordinarily, I don't have to take anything as a payback, but the guy sent money to me to fuel my car. You want to know how much? Don't worry 😁. After paying for my transport, Bukunmi arranged with Micheal to get musical instruments and other necessary things. When it's a few days to the day, a senior drummer and one of my long time fans called about a show at Eko-Ende, but we couldn't agree because of the charges I asked the celebrants to pay. They're trying to assure me of a profitable show and I also insisted on the least I could take from them, because it's our season and the event is a few days away and we would have issues with getting instruments at a cheaper price. As a leader, I called my lead drummer and shared with him and I asked him whether we should let go because we might not be lucky to be able to finish early at Taovik Event Centre, Ikirun, venue of the wedding ceremony. And his advice was that we should focus on Bukunmi's Programme alone, which I agreed on . But to my surprise, my lead drummer later called the man that brought the show and collected the amount I rejected and arranged for the show at Eko-Ende. Unfortunately, I didn't know this not until I got to Bukunmi's wedding reception and I met a DJ instrument arranged for me by my lead drummer, who had diverted the correct instrument earlier obtained for Bukunmi to the show at Eko-Ende and got a musician to perform there. If not because of the respect I have for the groom, Bukunmi as I didn't want to spoil his day, I would have left immediately I got to the venue and discovered the fraud perpetrated by my own lead drummer. Lest I forget, he absconded from Bukunmi's wedding reception and went to Eko-Ende to lead drum and manage the proceeds from the show.
CONCLUSION
Let me add thar on many occasions, I have used my ATM card to withdraw money 🤑 to augment my band boys shares, especially whenever the show wasn't profitable.
Let me also call our attention to the fact that, the band leader would always have to spend for his fans whenever they meet at a joint or an occasion, and where he's not on stage. Where do you expect him to get the money, if there's no provision for such earlier?
Meanwhile, we have a number of our drummers who are today owners of their own houses while many band leaders are still tenants. I believe it's a result of THREE factors; One, destiny, two discipline and three, focus. Or what do you say about drummers who cannot do without taking 3/4 bottles 🍾 everyday? Or those who would leave a show and instead of going back home to meet their families, would prefer to go to beer parkour to enjoy?
Finally, in as much as I don't want to intervene in the crisis between my boss, leader and role model, Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde Anifowose K1 De Ultimate and his former Lead Drummer, Ayankunle Ayanlowo, I also don't want people who know but don't understand the underneath to generalize Fuji Musicians relationship with our boys. There's a clear difference between what you know and what you understand.
N B: In an ideal situation, a band has the General Manager, The Band Manager, The Artiste Manager, The Road Manager, The Stage Manager, the floor Manager and at least two Personal Assistant to the band leaders. Are they also part of the boys or management team? How do you take care of them? A musician who has instruments of his own would appoint at least an engineer and at least two packers and a motor boy? From where does he pay them? All these must be taken into consideration.
May God not forsake us 🤲💕❤️💕

Politics / Expelled NNPP Faction Allegedly Defies Court Order, Conducts Internal Elections by Jimsonjaat96(m): 4:54pm On Mar 17
Reports emerging from the headquarters of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), led by Dr. Gilbert Major Agbo and Comrade Sunday Ogini, suggest that despite an interim order from the Federal High Court in Abuja restraining expelled National Executive Committee (NEC) members led by Alhaji Abbah Kawu and Mr. Dipo Olayoku from facilitating or conducting internal elections from March 14th, the faction may have proceeded to conduct ward and local elections in several states, particularly in the Northern region of Nigeria.

In response to these alleged actions, the NNPP has issued a directive to all zonal vice-chairmen to urgently conduct internal investigations and submit reports within 48 hours to the national headquarters. The NNPP expressed disappointment in the disregard for the court order, emphasizing the importance of providing material evidence for the court's consideration during the next adjourned date.

The statement, signed by Alhaji Abdulsalam Abdulrazak, National Publicity Secretary of the NNPP, underscores the gravity of the situation and the need for adherence to legal processes in resolving internal party disputes. The NNPP remains committed to upholding the rule of law and ensuring the integrity of its internal processes amidst the current challenges faced by the party.
Politics / Osun PDP To Oyetola: Stop Using President’s Name To Endanger Peace by Jimsonjaat96(m): 3:37pm On Mar 17
The Osun state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has warned former Governor Gboyega Oyetola to stop using and dropping the names of President Bola Tinubu to disrupt governance in Osun state, warning that the state will open can of worms on the former Governor unless he stopped his disruptive activities.

In a strongly worded statement issued by the party state Chairman, Hon Sunday Bisi, on Sunday, the party accused the former Governor of being a bad loser who has continued to pursue a failed agenda to make Osun state ungovernable through dropping of Mr President’s name to perpetrate political evil in Osun state.

The statement reads further:

“We are constrained to bring to the attention of Mr President and the entire Presidency the untowards activities of former Governor Oyetola which are capable of destroying the peace and stability of Osun state and negatively undermine the presidential agenda for Osun state, South West and Nigeria as a whole.

“We start by noting that the opposition has a legitimate right to play the role of the opposition. Such opposition roles do not however entail evil moves targeting at destroying the peace of the state, misrepresentation of presidential intention, the deliberate disruption of state-federal relations or attempted unlawful abuse of federal power against state officials performing their statutory roles. That will amount to malignant behaviour and a direct threat to democratic ideals.

“We posit that Mr Oyetola was not the first person to lose an election. Great democrats abide by peoples’ wishes and prepare to recontest. They dont pull down the house; they don't get consumed under vengeful poison.

“Governor Adeleke, despite being rigged out in 2018, congratulated Mr Oyetola and moved abroad to complete his education. He instructed us never to attack the new government but to go and prepare for 2022, a process we launched when the timetable for the election was released.

“In 2022, Osun people voted for Governor Adeleke. Right now, the Governor is delivering many projects and programmes which Oyetola failed to achieve under four years. This government has full records of several projects for which money was collected without the jobs being done. Mr Governor abandoned the idea of a probe and is instead completing many projects and starting new ones. Osun is today one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria attracting multiple interests and attention of foreign investors

“Surprisingly , Mr Oyetola has been dropping Mr President’s name to manipulate federal agencies to serve his selfish interest. The other time, he hijacked SMEDAN SME programme to serve his own faction of APC, even leaving out other APC members, giving Mr President a bad name. He did the same on rice distribution which he allegedly took from NEMA but which he shared to his faction against reaching out to the generality of Osun people as Mr President clearly preferred in line with the law.

“Rather than working to unite his party ahead of 2026, he is busy trying to make the state ungovernable, disrupting federal - state collaboration and attempting to use federal agencies such as the FCT DSS to harass state officials. We learnt Oyetola has used the FCT DSS to threaten arrest of the Spokesperson to the Osun State Governor for performing his statutory duties of projecting and promoting Mr Governor.

“We warn that such an attempt at arm twisting is a failed strategy as officials and citizens are entitled to the enforcement of their fundamental human rights as enshrined in the constitution and as the same constitution also regulates human rights and intergovernmental relations among the three tiers of government. We are also convinced that both the Presidency and the national headquarters of the DSS will not endorse deployment of sensitive state services to pursue personal political vendetta.

“Mr Oyetola should stop his evil agenda against Osun state because he should know we have the capacity to tame him but for the state government’s due respect for Mr President. If he does not stop, we will open his records which we are not doing because of our respect for the Presidency.

“We urge Mr President and the entire Presidency to nip in the bud the nefarious, vindictive, anti-state and vengeful activities of Mr Oyetola which are tarnishing the image of the Number One Citizen of the nation as he is using the President’s name to pursue vendetta and activities directly contrary to the bigger agenda of the Presidency.

“Mr President should call Mr Oyetola to order before plunging Osun into an avoidable crisis. Osun is peaceful and our Governor is delivering dividends of democracy under the umbrella of good governance. The State-Federal partnership is moving smoothly and no sore loser should be allowed to jeopardize the larger political and bigger interest of Mr President”, the statement concluded.

Signed:
Hon Sunday Bisi,
State Chairman,
Osun State PDP.
