Nairaland / General / Onitsha Sports Club Devastated By Midnight Demolition In Ongoing Land Dispute by Jimsonjaat96(m): 10:20am On Aug 12
By Owolabi Olayinka

Residents of Onitsha and members of the Onitsha Sports Club were met with shock and dismay over the weekend as properties valued at over N1.5 billion were demolished within the premises of the prestigious club.

The incident is the latest development in a long-standing land dispute between the club’s trustees and the Ekwerekwu family of Onitsha, which has been embroiled in legal battles for over 12 years.

The dispute centers on a claim by Barrister Harold Ekwerekwu, an indigene of Onitsha, who asserts that the land in question belonged to his grandfather.

The demolition saw the destruction of several valuable properties, including a newly completed one-storey staff quarters building and an ultramodern auditorium, which was funded as a constituency project by Senator Stella Oduah for the Anambra North Senatorial Zone.

Speaking to journalists on Sunday, the President of Onitsha Sports Club, Chief Daniel Okafor, expressed deep concern over the extent of the destruction, labeling it an unlawful invasion. “Onitsha Sports Club land is not on lease,” Okafor stated. “The lawyer did not provide any justification for this destruction. Instead, he claimed he had the consent of the federal government, the Inspector General of Police, and the Anambra Commissioner of Police to take possession of the land.”

Okafor further explained that despite filing a petition with both the Central Police Station and the Area Command in Onitsha following threats, no preventive action was taken.

“We were told to write a petition, which we did, but to our surprise, they came at 1:30 AM to destroy many buildings and cut down hundreds of trees,” he said.

The club president underscored the gravity of the situation, warning the public against engaging with Barrister Ekwerekwu concerning the land. “We wish to warn the general public that Onitsha Sports Club premises is not for sale, and anyone dealing with Barr. Harold Ekwerekwu or any of his agents is doing so at their own risk,” Okafor cautioned.

While acknowledging that the matter is still before the courts, Okafor called on both state and federal governments to intervene, citing concerns for the safety of club members and the broader community.

“This matter has been pending in court for 12 years, and we wonder on whose authority he came to demolish the property. Our members are no longer safe, as hoodlums can easily gain entrance into this place.”

Okafor highlighted that the Onitsha Sports Club, founded in 1924, is one of the few remaining green spaces in the city, and its destruction would be a significant loss to the community.

“As it stands, Onitsha Sports Club, which is one of the foremost clubs in the country, has been brought to its knees as every activity has been brought to a halt,” he lamented.

The club leadership has made a passionate appeal to Governor Chukwuma Soludo to intervene in the matter and review past activities related to land issues in the area.

“We humbly appeal to the state governor, His Excellency Governor Chukwuma Soludo, the Federal Government of Nigeria, and all sports lovers to come to our aid. We also plead with the state government to review all the past activities of Barr. Harold Ekwerekwu and his cohorts as it concerns land grabbing in Anambra State,” Okafor stated.

A long-time member of the club, Mr. Ejise Tobechi, also expressed his disbelief over the situation, noting that the club has served as a recreational center for both indigenes and residents of Onitsha for nearly a century. He questioned why an individual would attempt to claim ownership of the land after so many years.

Efforts to reach Barrister Ekwerekwu for comment were unsuccessful, but it was learned that he has been summoned to report to the Police Area Command in Onitsha on Tuesday following the petition submitted by the Sports Club trustees.

NYSC / No Directive To Pay Corps Members ₦70,000 Minimum Wage Yet – NYSC by Jimsonjaat96(m): 12:15am On Aug 12
The attention of National Youth Service Corps Management has been drawn to a misleading information circulating in the media regarding payment of #70, 000 minimum wage to Corps Members and the directive to upgrade their accounts. This is absolute falsehood which is far from the truth.

Corps Members, parents and members of the public should note that no directive has been received from the relevant sector of government responsible for wages matters. It is therefore impossible for the NYSC to issue any information on such.

Corps Members already know the approved channel and mode of communication in the Scheme and should therefore ignore the directive accordingly.

Politics / Offa PDP Chairmanship Candidate Urges Gov Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq To Resume Work by Jimsonjaat96(m): 7:50am On Aug 11
Offa PDP Chairmanship Candidate Urges Gov Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to Resume Work on Popo Road

The Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate in the September 21 election in Offa Local Government of Kwara State, Comrade Salaudeen Adeyemi Lukman, Eluku Omo Adugbo, has urged the Governor of the state, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, to immediately resume work on the abandoned Popo Road rehabilitation project.

In a letter addressed to the Governor, Omo Adugbo expressed the distress and inconvenience caused by the project's abandonment, which has led to numerous accidents, increased transportation costs, and hindered economic activities.

The letter highlighted the significance of Offa's contributions to the economy of Kwara State and the vibrant culture of its people. However, it expressed disappointment in the state government's decision to focus on other projects in Ilorin while neglecting the pressing needs of Offa.

The appeal emphasized the urgent need for the Governor's intervention to resume work on Popo Road, which was initially started but left unfinished. The letter urged Governor Abdulrazaq not to add Popo Road to the list of abandoned projects in Offa and to prioritize the resumption of work to alleviate the hardships faced by residents and spur economic growth.

**THE FULL LETTER IS REPRODUCED BELOW**

His Excellency,
Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq
Governor of Kwara State
Government House
Ilorin, Kwara State

Dear Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq,

**Appeal for Immediate Resumption of Work on Popo Road in Offa**

I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to you as a concerned citizen of Offa, Kwara State, to earnestly request your immediate intervention in resuming the rehabilitation work on Popo Road in Offa, which has unfortunately been abandoned for some time.

The abandonment of the Popo Road project has caused significant distress to the people of Offa and the surrounding areas. The current state of the road is not only an inconvenience but has also become a serious threat to the safety and well-being of residents and commuters. The deteriorating condition of the road has led to numerous accidents, increased transportation costs, and hindered the economic activities that are vital to the growth and development of our community.

Offa is known for its vibrant culture, industrious population, and significant contributions to the economy of Kwara State. However, we are perturbed by the state government’s decision to commence rehabilitation work on a relatively manageable road like Popo Road while numerous other roads in Offa, including the 1.6 km Rondo/Ikotun Road, remain in deplorable conditions of abandonment. Your administration initially started work on Rondo/Ikotun Road but later abandoned it, leaving our people feeling deceived after they supported your re-election in 2023.

The lack of state infrastructural presence in Offa is concerning, especially when compared to the numerous ongoing developmental projects, including multiple flyover bridges and dualized roads in Ilorin. This raises the question of whether Ilorin and Kwara Central are the only districts entitled to development from Kwara State resources, including the ₦35 billion loan secured in the name of all Kwarans.

We are particularly concerned about Popo Road because it was not in critical condition until your administration brought in contractors who disrupted it, only for the project to be left unfinished. It feels as though this project was started with immediate rehabilitation in mind, but then inexplicably stalled.

We are aware that Offa has experienced similar issues with unfulfilled promises, such as the upgrade of our stadium that was promised in 2020 and the incomplete Rondo Road project. We urge you, Your Excellency, not to add Popo Road to the list of your administration's abandoned projects in Offa.

If Offa has offended your administration in any way, we ask for your forgiveness. We believe that holding back development should be the limit of any grievances, and not setting up situations that endanger lives. I do not wish to join those who suggest that Your Excellency harbors ill will towards Offa, but the neglect of Popo Road could be interpreted as a deliberate attempt to cause harm and increase the risk of accidents, which could indirectly reduce the able-bodied population in Offa.

The resumption and completion of this road project will not only alleviate the current hardships faced by residents but will also spur economic growth and development in Offa. We are aware of similar projects your administration has undertaken, such as Ahmadu Bello Road in Ilorin (Govt House Road), none of which took more than two weeks. We therefore ask, why is Offa’s project taking forever?

To improve the lives of the people of Kwara State, your administration must ensure that no part of the state, including Offa, is left behind. We remain confident that your attention to this matter will yield positive results. The people of Offa hope for your reconsideration of this abandoned project and believe that your timely intervention will restore hope and bring relief to our community.

We kindly urge you, Sir, to prioritize the resumption of work on Popo Road with immediate effect. The people of Offa are counting on your leadership and compassion to address this pressing issue.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. We remain hopeful and eagerly await your positive response.

Yours truly,
Hon. Comr. Salahudeen A. Lukman

NYSC / General Ahmed Seeks Local Governments' Support For Nysc by Jimsonjaat96(m): 8:10pm On Aug 02
The Director General of National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General YD Ahmed has appealed for robust support from the 774 Local Government Chairmen cross the country.

He said this would enhance the achievements of the Scheme which largely depends on the commitment and active participation of key role players in the running of the Scheme.

General Ahmed stated this while addressing the National Executive Council Meeting of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in Lafia.

He said Management has made a sustained advocacy on the proper performance of stakeholders’ roles as spelt out in the NYSC Act Cap N84 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.

General Ahmed stated further that the role of Local Governments are critical to the smooth operations of the NYSC because majority of Corps Members posted to serve in the rural areas support developmental strides, especially through their Primary Assignments in schools, Primary Healthcare Centres and other aspects of national economy.

The Director General informed the Council Chairmen that while the Federal Government shoulders a greater part of the responsibility of running the Scheme, the enabling Act saddles States and Local Governments with complimentary responsibilities which include the provision of facilities like; Orientation Camps, Corps Transit Lodge, Corps Lodges, Office Accommodation and other forms of intervention that are essential for the welfare of Corps Members and the general success of the Scheme.

While appreciating the Local Government Chairmen for their individual and collective gestures in supporting the Scheme, such as the provision of accommodation for Corps Members and facilitation of their integration into the host communities, General Ahmed added that there is much to be done in many Local Government Areas across the country to make the operating environment more conducive for the Scheme.

"Permit me at this juncture to highlight some of the key issues that require your attention such as; formation of NYSC Local Government Committees. Section 8 Sub-Sections 1, 2, and 3 of the NYSC Act provides for the establishment, composition and functions of the NYSC Local Government Committee in each of the 774 Local Government Areas of the country. However, the committees have not been in existence in many of the Local Government Areas over the years.

Therefore, to ensure smooth operations of the Scheme at the grassroots, the committees need to be put in place and empowered with the necessary resources to enable them function effectively.

I therefore appeal to those of you that do not have the committees to establish and make them functional", he said.

General Ahmed further informed the Council Chairmen that Management is in constant liaison with security agencies, adding that Section 8 Sub-Section 3 (d) of the NYSC Act saddles the Local Government Councils with the responsibility of ensuring the safety of Corps Members serving in each Local Government.

He also requested them to use their offices to influence other stakeholders such as traditional rulers, religious and community leaders to complement the efforts of the security agencies in their areas.

The Director General advised the Local Government authorities that host NYSC Orientation Camps to contribute towards ensuring the safety of the camp facilities through local security arrangements.

He also informed the Chairmen that the condition of some of NYSC Zonal and Local Government offices leave much to be desired, while some of the Scheme's Zonal and Local Government Inspectors operate in dilapidated structures, others have inadequate office spaces thereby hindering effective performance of their duties.

The DG however thanked the Local Governments that have provided befitting office accommodation, while he appealed to others to do same so as to enhance the smooth conduct of the Scheme’s operations.

Other statutory areas that the DG harped on include; transport for Corps Inspection in order to enhance grassroots development and support for Community Development Service Projects.

The National President of ALGON, Hon Aminu Mu'azu Maifata in his remarks lauded the Scheme for it's remarkable achievements over the past fifty-one years.

He however promised that the requests of the Director General would be considered.

Politics / LG Autonomy: Insufficient On Its Own, Says National President Of POSAN by Jimsonjaat96(m): 9:29pm On Jul 16
Comrade David Ojewale, widely known as D'Senator, the National President of the Political Science Association Of Nigeria, POSAN, has voiced his thoughts on the ongoing discourse surrounding local government autonomy in Nigeria.

In a statement, he emphasized that while local government autonomy is a positive step towards enhancing democracy, it fails to address the broader issues plaguing the nation.

Local government autonomy is often heralded as a crucial element in fostering democracy within Nigeria.

The concept suggests that by granting local governments greater independence and authority, they can more effectively address the needs of their communities and boost citizen participation in governance.

However, Comrade Ojewale contends that this move, though commendable, falls short of solving the myriad challenges facing Nigeria.

"Local administrations in Nigeria continue to battle problems such as corruption, inefficiency, and a lack of transparency," Ojewale stated. "Many local leaders still prioritize personal interests over those of the people they represent, which has led to widespread dissatisfaction and erosion of trust in governmental institutions."

He argues that Nigeria requires more than just autonomy for local governments.

What is essential, he asserts, is a comprehensive transformation of the entire governance system. This transformation should encompass the implementation of mechanisms to ensure openness, accountability, and effective governance at all levels of government.

Additionally, it should involve substantial investments in infrastructure, education, and healthcare to improve the well-being of Nigerians. Empowering citizens to hold their leaders accountable and actively participate in the decision-making process is also crucial.

Ojewale highlighted that the Supreme Court's verdict on local government autonomy must be respected by governors, allowing local governments to operate independently.

Any attempts to undermine this autonomy, he warned, would pose a significant threat to democracy and the rule of law.

"In conclusion, while the autonomy of local governments is a significant step towards decentralization and democratization, it is merely one component of the larger picture. For Nigeria to build a robust and thriving democracy, it must tackle the root causes of its challenges and work towards sustainable solutions,"Ojewale remarked.

He concluded by expressing hope that through addressing these fundamental issues, Nigeria can unlock its full potential and become a beacon of hope for the entire African continent.

HIS FULL STATEMENT IS REPRODUCED BELOW

Local Government Autonomy; A win for democracy, But a process and system that doesn't address the real issues facing our country.

Local government autonomy is often seen as a key factor in enhancing democracy in Nigeria. The rationale behind this is that by providing local governments with more independence and authority over their own affairs, they can better cater to the needs of their communities and encourage increased citizen involvement in governance. However, while this is a positive move, it is evident that merely granting autonomy is insufficient in tackling the numerous challenges confronting Nigeria.

The reality is that local administrations in Nigeria are still grappling with issues such as corruption, inefficiency, and a lack of transparency. Many local leaders continue to prioritize personal interests over those of the people they represent, resulting in widespread discontent and disillusionment among the populace. This has further eroded trust in governmental institutions and impeded the nation's progress.

What Nigeria truly requires is not just autonomy for local governments, but a holistic transformation of the entire system. This involves implementing mechanisms to ensure openness, accountability, and effective governance across all government levels. It entails investing in infrastructure, education, and healthcare to enhance the well-being of ordinary Nigerians. It also involves empowering citizens to hold their leaders accountable and actively engage in the decision-making process.

In conclusion, the granting of local government autonomy is a significant step towards decentralization and democratization. However, governors must respect this autonomy and allow local governments to function independently, as dictated by the Supreme Court's verdict. Any attempts to undermine this autonomy will be a threat to democracy and the rule of law.

While local government autonomy is a positive step, it is just one component of the larger picture. For Nigeria to establish a robust and thriving democracy, it must address the underlying causes of its challenges and strive towards sustainable solutions. Only then can the nation unlock its full potential and serve as a beacon of hope for the entire African continent.

Politics / LG Autonomy: PDP Asks APC To Stop Debasing Matters Of Law With Feigned Ignoranc by Jimsonjaat96(m): 8:35am On Jul 12
LG Autonomy: Osun PDP Asks APC To Stop Debasing Matters Of Law With Feigned Ignorance

The ruling Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State has told the opposition All Progressives Congress to stop disgracing itself in the glare of intelligent society, accusing the opposition of deliberately feigning ignorance to enliven its raging emotional distress.

Reacting to public comments by some elements in the embattled opposition camp, shortly after a judgement by the supreme court on the local government autonomy in the country, Osun PDP in a statement by the state chairman, Hon Sunday Bisi, on Friday, enjoined leaders of the APC not to relapse into their usual mysticism, which often result into nuro seizures, borne out of inordinate ecstasy.

Osun PDP specifically reminded the ousted APC of how it deliberately, out of similar ecstacy of ignorance and disdain for the laws of the land, wasted over 2billion Naira from the covers of the state on an illegal local government election, which was later not only discredited, but outrightly annulled by the court of competent jurisdiction.

The annulment of the "YES or NO" insanity conducted by the APC, according to Hon Sunday Bisi, was effected on the 25th of November 2022 by a Federal High Court in Osogbo, a time the wasteful APC government of recalcitrant former governor Gboyega Oyetola was still in force in Osun State.

It is therefore abnormal to say the least, for APC minions to begin to dream of an impossible comeback for the unfortunate lots, who were caught in the web of Apc desperation of illegality, even after our great party had offered patriotic advice against conduct of such a clearly illegal exercise, Hon Sunday Bisi posited.

The Osun PDP Chairman further advised the obviously confused opposition APC to fasten its belt and put its popularity to test, if any, by following up with the activities lined up by the State Independent Electoral Commission for the conduct of the local government election in Osun State, in line with with the prevailing electoral act as amended, which has been upheld by the same Supreme Court in various election related matters.

Osun PDP further reiterated that the state Governor, Asiwaju Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke at no time, dissolved elected local government structure in the State, stating that, cases relating to the better forgotten LG election had been heard and dispensed with, after the PDP legal team submerged the then Gboyega Oyetola led government in the ocean of law, which was never survived by the then power drunk APC.

Politics / LG Election: OSSIEC To Issue Eligibility Regulations, Appoints Electoral Officer by Jimsonjaat96(m): 9:35pm On Jul 10
The Chairman of the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC), Hashim Abioye, has declared the intention of the Commission under his leadership to issue regulations for eligibility to contest local council elections as well as the Commission’s readiness to appoint Electoral Officers, Assistant Electoral Officers and other staff of the Commission ahead of Osun local council elections scheduled for February, 2025.

In a statement signed by Yemi Badru, Press Secretary to OSSIEC Chairman, Hashim Abioye hinted that in line with the timetable/schedule of activities towards the conduct of Osun local council elections earlier released in February this year, the time for political parties to conduct their primaries is around the corner, hence, the need to issue eligibility regulations to guide participating political parties in fielding qualified candidates for the elections, as any unqualified candidate fielded by any political party will not find his/her way to the ballots as the Screening Committee of the Commission will be readily on ground to address any eligibility issue.

In the exact words of the Chairman, he maintained that “having earlier given notice of Osun local council election in line with the dictate of the law, and having issued timetable/schedule of activities for the conduct of local council elections in Osun State, the time is ripe to issue regulations so as to guide participating political parties in the choice of candidates for the election.

"This is within the jurisdictional compass of the Commission. As we all know, there are three categories of politicians who may wish to contest on the platforms of their respective political parties.

“We have private citizens, government employees and government appointees. While the constitution stipulates 30 days before the election for an employee in the service of any tier of government willing to contest an election to resign his/her employment, a political appointee at any level doesn’t enjoy such a latitude as he/she must resign within the time as may be stipulated by the electoral body. This does not concern a private individual who is not a government employee or appointee.

"Other regulatory issues and eligibility criteria include schedule of fees for nomination forms, change/substitution of candidates, campaign modalities, meetings, etc. All these will be contained in the regulations that will be issued so soon”.

In the same vein, appointment of Electoral Officers, Assistant Electoral Officers and other staff of the Commission will be announced within the next few days.

As disclosed by the Chairman, “appointment of Electoral Officers for the local council areas is sacrosanct. They will be the eyes, ears and body of the Commission in implementing the programs and activities of the Commission in each of the local council areas”.

The Chairman further assured that as earlier promised, the forthcoming Osun local council elections will be a giant leap forward in the history of local government elections in Osun State, as he reiterated his commitment to conducting the freest, fairest, most transparent and most credible local government elections ever in the history of Osun State.
NYSC / Nysc Reacts To Reports On 'fresh Allowee Package For Corps Members' by Jimsonjaat96(m): 1:29pm On Jul 09
Management has observed with dismay, the misrepresentation of facts by some Members of the press during the visit of NYSC Director General, Brigadier General YD Ahmed to Ogun State Orientation Camp in Sagamu, yesterday.

For clarity sake, General Ahmed while addressing Corps Members said it is expected that they would benefit from the minimum wage when it is approved, he did not say the President has approved any increment in Corps Members' allowance.

Meanwhile, as part of his oversight functions during Orientation periods, the Director General advised the Corps Members on different issues relating to patriotism, entrepreneurship, security consciousness, community development among other issues of youth development for leadership roles.

Members of the press are advised to be factual in their reportage of NYSC activities, so as not to incite unnecessary apprehension among the Scheme's stakeholders.

Thank you.

Politics / Kwara: Ensuring Credibility, Transparency, And Inclusivity; An In-depth Discussi by Jimsonjaat96(m): 11:14am On May 26
Kwara: Ensuring Credibility, Transparency, and Inclusivity; An In-Depth Discussion on the Upcoming LGA Election

By Muideen Adebayo Ibrahim (MAI)

The purpose of this germane write up is to ensure that the forthcoming Local Government Election slated to September 21, 2024 is credible, transparent, fair and all inclusive so that we can have a virile and egalitarian grassroots in Kwara State.

The State government was applauded for deeming it fit to flag off the LG election after various stakeholders agitated for it including yours truly.

As a result, all eyes are now on the State government to ensure that the election is held as promised. Not only that, it must be very transparent, credible and all inclusive as well.

The importance of a transparent, credible and all inclusive Local Government (LG) election cannot be overemphasized and some of which are; vital for ensuring democracy's integrity. Uphold citizens' trust in the electoral process, foster political stability, and promote inclusivity by allowing all eligible voices to be heard. Without these elements, democracy's foundation becomes fragile, risking legitimacy and societal harmony. Not only that, it will affect the grassroots in all ramifications.

Without prejudice, there must be fairness on the part of Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission (KWASIEC). The modalities for the conduct of the election must be properly crafted and made available in all the local languages. Not only that, there must be proper information dissemination from time to time. The process must be fair and unbiased.

KWASIEC must as a matter of fact prevent electoral fraud and malpractices as much as possible. The electoral hnpire must in this instance up its game in this regard in order to be above board.

What steps are being taken to verify the eligibility of voters and candidates? This is very key and must as a matter of time be critically looked into.

All hands must be on deck in order to ensure that the voter's register is accurate and up-to-date? Nobody must be disenfranchised.

Transparent Procedures; KWASIEC should endeavour to elaborate on the steps being taken to ensure transparency in the election process. This must be made open for creditability sake please.

How will the results be communicated to the public?

KWASIEC must ensure that the results are communicated to the public real time on time. As such, information communication technology (ICT) must be deployed in this regard.

The roles of independent observers and monitors are very important. So credible independent observers and monitors should be invited for the forthcoming LG election. Because they will play critical roles, make their reports public and this will add a lot of value to the credibility or otherwise of the said election.

Whilst not preempting KWASIEC for a free, fair, transparent and credible election, the necessary machineries should be put in place for Kwarans to report any irregularities they witness during the election whilst prompt and necessary action must be taken to that effect by KWASIEC.

All Kwarans must be encouraged to participate in the election as much as possible. So there should be enlightenment campaigns and information dissemination from now on.

The umpire should please
address potential barriers to voting for people with disabilities, women, and youths so that no one would be disenfranchised.

Community Engagement across board is very important and KWASIEC should put necessary machinery in motion with respect to this. Community leaders, various political parties and civil society organizations should be included in this regard as well.

Cybersecurity initiative; what measures are in place to protect the election from cyber threats? How is voter data being safeguarded? There questions are very critical and as a result, KWASIEC must employ the services of credible cybersecurity experts in order to forestall any unpalatable story.

It is an established fact that the Chairmanship Aspirants are too numerous and only Sixteen of them would be chosen out of the multitude. All of them should play by the rules, they should campaign on issues and what they will offer the people at the grassroots. They should avoid campaign of culmuny so that the election can be peaceful. Kwarans will decide and they should endeavour to vote. The success of the forthcoming elections lies with all the stakeholders. So let's ensure that the election is free, fair, credible, transparent, all inclusive and devoid of any malpractice. So all hands must be on deck.

Long Live Kwara State!

Politics / Arrival Of MOK; Breakthrough For Have-nots In Kwara South Politics by Jimsonjaat96(m): 4:16pm On May 25
By Sarafadeen Abdullahi Olamide (El-Sharaf)

The awakening of dead leaves, resurrection of long-gone fruits and germination of dried seeds coupled with extensive flow of water in rivers and wells, with all these signs, one can easily concludes the rainy season is here.

Same thing across the Ibolo block and Kwara South at large, when you see the have-nots jubilating with tears of joy on their face, traders expanding their business, students smiling at their palms and youths from every angle with a placard hearts, all chanting a particular name, then one can easily conclude that a new messiah has arrive who have come to revitalized every sector by extending kind gesture and good will, providing livability for the people and adding to their growth and developments either through physical infrastructure or by intervention.

It is no more a news, that the whole of kwara South sings praise and worship, chanting the name of nobody else but MUHYDEEN OKUNOLA KAYODE, the founder and principal of MOK foundation. MUHYDEEN OKUNOLA KAYODE investment in education where thousands of students gained scholarships, WAEC and JAMB sponsorships and the excellent performance of those students in their studies indicates that MOK is a builder whose aim is towards achieving better tomorrow.

His supports for traders by providing them with start up capitals and facilitation of equipment for those with already existing business talks a lot about him being an advocate of industrial development which shows he understands that industry is the backbone of the country’s economy.

The poverty alleviation scheme is also a landmark achievement where palliatives which includes food, money and other valuable items were distributed to the people where more than 5,000 thousand household benefited. This indicates that indeed MOK is a man who never wants people to lack the basic necessities of life.

MOK 5,000 hectares of land acquired by MUHYDEEN KAYODE OKUNOLA to boost agricultural development and increase food production is a wonder which got the entire farmers and the good people of kwara south amazed since non including the political office holders in the entire kwara south has done that all in the name of public interest, of course one can now conclude that MOK is a man of the people.

The greatest of all is MOK’s open door policy, this shows how humble MUHYDEEN OKUNOLA KAYODE is and his vision to achieve one kwara south. MOK never ask questions such as who are you, where are you from, do you belong to my movement or who can recommend you but helps people without discriminating. In fact, MUHYDEEN OKUNOLA KAYODE gets to people who needs help before they run to him for help and his way of maintaining relationship with people is one of a kind.

Base on the available statistics, its obvious that the political atmosphere of kwara south will change for good cometh 2027 with the likes of MOK inclusive. The good people of Offa, whole Ibolo block and the entire kwara south can now put their mind at rest and stand behind their messiah, the man of the people to liberate themselves from the hands of oppressors who only believes in government of themselves, by themselves and for themselves. With MOK, everyone is OK.

Politics / Osun: Asiwaju As Governor Of The Year-infrastructure by Jimsonjaat96(m): 10:21pm On May 24
Naysayers must be in trouble, ruminating on what to say as the world celebrates Governor Ademola Adeleke as the Infrastructure Governor of the Year. From far and near, the authentication of Asiwaju of Edeland is streaming in with opposition in pain as to how to manage this phenomenon called Ademola Adeleke.

The Vanguard newspaper established by the finest of publishers, Pa Sam Amuka, is not known for frivolities. This credible platform represents one of the best breeds within and without Nigerian journalism. Governor Adeleke is being honoured by that time honoured media outfit.

The management of the newspaper narrated how it arrived at the conclusion. A particular viral video on how the Osun Governor is rapidly changing the fortune of the Osun State University attracted both the editorial board and the managers of the award programme.

A team was sent to Osun State without the knowledge of the Governor. The team found Osun, a huge construction site. They returned to Lagos with a verdict of surprise with overwhelming confirmation of not just the content of the viral video, but massive evidence of several completed and ongoing projects across the infra sector.

And so, just one and half years into a four year tenure, Governor Adeleke emerges Governor of the Year-Infrastructure. This is a resounding attestation, a justifiable recognition and an affirmation of good performance.

What Osun people applaud daily is now reiterated at the national level. The honour is both from home and outside.

Imole is really shining on Osun. This era of good governance has come to stay in the State of the Living Spring
