Politics / Wanted By The Law: Yahaya Bello, The Revised Edition Of Bukola Saraki by Jimsonjaat96(m): 6:40pm On Apr 20
By Owodunni Rasheed Adekunle

Yahaya Bello, the controversial former Governor of Kogi State, seems to have taken a page from the playbook of former Senate President Bukola Saraki when it comes to evading lawful custody.

Despite facing numerous allegations and legal troubles, Bello has managed to avoid accountability, much like Saraki did during his time in office.

Both Bello and Saraki have been accused of various offenses, ranging from corruption to abuse of power, manipulating standing laws among many.

However, instead of facing the consequences of their actions, they have employed similar tactics to evade lawful custody and accountability.

One of the key strategies employed by both politicians is to exploit legal loopholes and delay tactics.

Bello, like Saraki, has utilized his influence and resources to hire top-notch legal teams to drag out legal proceedings, ensuring that cases against him remain in limbo for as long as possible.

Another tactic is to politicize the legal process, turning it into a battle of political wills rather than a quest for justice. Bello, much like Saraki, has consistently accused his opponents of launching politically motivated attacks against him, painting himself as a victim of persecution rather than a perpetrator of wrongdoing.

Furthermore, both Bello and Saraki have mastered the art of public relations, using media campaigns and public appearances to shape public opinion in their favor by controlling the narrative and portraying themselves as innocent victims. They have managed to sway public opinion and create doubt about the legitimacy of the charges against them.

Additionally, both politicians have exploited their positions of power to influence law enforcement agencies and judicial processes.

Bello, like Saraki, has allegedly used his control over state institutions to manipulate investigations and intimidate witnesses, further complicating the legal proceedings against him. Despite facing mounting evidence and public outcry, Bello and Saraki have managed to remain largely untouched by the law, raising serious questions about the effectiveness of Nigeria's justice system and the impunity with which corrupt politicians operate.

In conclusion, the parallels between Yahaya Bello and Bukola Saraki in their methods of evading lawful custody are striking. Both have used legal manoeuvring, political influence, and public relations to shield themselves from accountability, highlighting the need for comprehensive reforms to ensure that no one is above the law in Nigeria.

How far can both of them run? Time will tell.

Nairaland / General / Latfamee Farms: Engineer Olatinwo Lukman Olaniran Speaks by Jimsonjaat96(m): 5:42pm On Apr 20
Latfamee Farms: Engineer Olatinwo Lukman Olaniran Speaks On Overcoming Challenges and Achieving Fantastic Turnover

Q: Introduction of yourself

A: My name is Engineer Olatinwo Lukman Olaniran, a staff of Federal Polytechnic Offa in the Department of Electrical and Electrical Engineering. I am also a farmer; I deal with poultry chicks. My farm's name is Latfamee Farms, a subsidiary of Latfamee Consult, which deals with agricultural produce and ICT. We started this poultry farm about six months ago.

Q: How's the journey in poultry farming going?

A: To God be the glory, it has been fantastic. The challenges faced in the course of this poultry farm include acquiring knowledge about diseases, types of feeds, timing of vaccinations, and marketing strategies. However, the triumph of this business is the amazing turnover. It's a short-term business; within 3 months, you can greatly recoup your investment, making it a lucrative venture.

Q: Any challenges therein?

A: The challenges faced in the course of this farming include diseases such as Oxy and TDR. We must understand how to identify and manage them. Heat stress is another major issue. We must know the measures to reduce the temperature for the hens because heat stress greatly affects the chickens and increases their mortality rate. Once the mortality rate increases, the business suffers. Thus, understanding how to address heat stress is crucial, especially for breeding birds.

Q: Any advice for prospective poultry farmers?

A: My advice to anyone interested in joining the business is to gain knowledge first and find a mentor to guide you. Don't venture into the business blindly. It's a profitable venture, but you need to understand the diseases, feeds, and market strategies. Without a solid market plan, your efforts may be in vain. Thank you, and God bless you.

Nairaland / General / Wale Bolorunduro, Adebayo Jimoh's Cold War On Living Trust Mortgage Bank by Jimsonjaat96(m): 3:25pm On Apr 19
The appointment of Dr. Wale Bolorunduro, an ex-finance commissioner, as a director and chairman designate of Living Trust Mortgage Bank Plc has sparked a cold war between the board of directors and the present chairman, WITHIN NIGERIA gathered.

Recall that on April 8, 2024, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke approved the appointment of Dr. Wale Bolorunduro as a director and chairman designate of Living Trust Mortgage Bank Plc through a letter signed by the State Government’s Secretary, Teslim Igbalaye.

In a separate letter obtained by WITHIN NIGERIA, Governor Ademola Adeleke also directed that Dr. Wale Bolorunduro be appointed as a director and chairman designate, effective Friday, April 19, 2024. The letter was addressed to Timothy Gbadeyan, the company secretary of Living Trust Mortgage Bank Plc.

HISTORY OF LVIING TRUST MORTGAGE BANK PLC

Findings by WITHIN NIGERIA revealed that Living Trust Mortgage Bank Plc, primarily known as Living Spring Savings and Loans, was incorporated on March 9, 1993, during the tenure of the late Isiaka Adeleke, the first executive governor of Osun State.

The bank converted from a private limited liability company to a public limited liability company on January 25, 2013, for better performance which led to the change of name from Living Spring Savings and Loans to Omoluabi Mortgage Bank during the Aregbesola-led administration by selling some shares to Morgan Capital Securities Limited and others.

Public-private partnership and agreement
Sources told WITHIN NIGERIA that some percentage of the bank’s shares were later sold to CitiTrust during Oyetola-led administration in 2019, leaving the remaining 40 percent for the state for better optimization, productivity, and quality response. The name of the bank, Omoluabi Mortgage, was also changed to Living Trust Mortgage Bank Plc.

A reliable source told WITHIN NIGERIA that Osun State and CitiTrust agreed that the chairman of the Living Trust Mortgage Bank should be appointed by the state government while the managing director or Chief Executive Officer (CEO) should be appointed by CitiTrust.

This source further disclosed that CitiTrust later sold nearly 20% of its shares out of 60% to Adekunle Adewole and others, leaving CitiTrust with 40.82%.

OWNERSHIP STRUCTURE

A document on ownership structure obtained by WITHIN NIGERIA revealed that as of December 31, 2023, CitiTrust had 40.82% [2, 041,094, 418] shares, Osun State Government had 18.03% [901,466,695], Osun State Local Government had 21.80% [1,090,133,708], Adekunle Adewole had 7.39% [369,506,532], and others had 11.97% [597,798,647]. This document further confirms the statements from our source.

THE COLD WAR

Findings revealed that there’s a cold war between the chairman designate, Wale Bolorunduro, and the board headed by Alhaji Adebayo Jimoh over the confirmation of the former finance commissioner as the new chairman.

It was gathered that the company’s secretary, Timothy Gbadeyan, forwarded a letter to the state government in response to the letter signed by Teslim Igbalaye, the SSG, seeking confirmation of Wale Bolorunduro as chairman on Friday, April 19, 2024.

According to Timothy Gbadeyan, the ex-finance commissioner in the state would not participate in the board meeting and would be confirmed as chairman on Friday, April 19, 2024, as directed by Governor Ademola Ademola.

Gbadeyan disclosed in the letter that Alhaji Adebayo Jimoh would step down as chairman of the board on Friday, April 19, and that the nomination and screening committee of the board would brief the board about the new developments that would take effect after the AGM meeting.

Speaking on the matter, a reliable source told WITHIN NIGERIA that there is a high probability that the confirmation of Wale Bolorunduro, ex-finance commissioner, as chairman designate of Living Trust Mortgage Bank is deliberately delayed due to reasons unknown to the public.

According to the source, there’s likely a perceived enmity between the current chairman, Alhaji Adebayo Jimoh, the company’s secretary, Timothy Gbadeyan, and the chairman designate, which would not allow the free transfer of authority as expected.

‘Governor Adeleke was very clear in his letter to the company’s secretary. He wants the appointment of Wale Bolorunduro as chairman to be effective on Friday, April 19, 2024. I really do not know why the chairman and company’s secretary are delaying the confirmation’, the source explained.

However, a letter written by Alhaji Adebayo Jimoh, which was sighted within Nigeria, revealed that the cold war was indeed caused by the company’s secretary as a result of his response to the letter written by Teslim Igbalaye, the SSG.

Adebayo Jimoh disclosed in a leaked letter that the due process of onboarding directors into banking and other allied financial institutions in line with regulatory processes must be duly followed before Wale Bolorunduro can be confirmed as chairman of the bank.

According to Adebayo Jimoh, Bolorunduro will meet with the board nomination and governance committee on April 17, 2024, and the report of the committee thereafter will definitely be presented to the board to enable an appropriate full board resolution to be passed on April 19, 2024, at the full board meeting.

He will be admitted first as a director, and the board will then have the responsibility to pass a resolution on his appointment as chairman at the next board meeting, definitely before the AGM slated for June 6th, 2024, in line with best corporate practice. He will be guided by CBN guidelines and ratified at the AGM, Alhaji Jimoh explained.

Wale Bolorunduro, in a letter written to the present chairman, Adebayo Jimoh, obtained by WITHIN NIGERIA, expressed his dissatisfaction over the insistence of the company secretary to write to the state government to retract the offensive and legally deficient letter he wrote detailing a very wrong pathway to my onboarding, despite all the corporate action precedents that were cited for him.

The ex-finance commissioner, while tagging the delay as unnecessary and a deliberate attempt to dare Governor Ademola Adeleke, who heads a government that is a major shareholder and number one customer, cited similar cases such as Africa Prudential filing an addendum on AGM notification and Access Bank plc, which has AIG Imoukhuede as Chairman at the board of directors meeting of March 12 and is going to the AGM for resolution of the director later.

According to Bolorunduro, the chairman can therefore be changed at any time by the equity owner.

“All that needs to be done at the June 2024 AGM is for a resolution to be passed by shareholders to elect me as a director. CAMA 2020 is very clear on the issue of the appointment and resignation of directors. I refer the company secretary to Access Holdings Plc, where Mr. Aig Imokhuede was elected chairman of Access Holdings Plc on March 13, 2024. His election as director will be at the AGM on April 19, 2024,” he further explained.

Efforts to reach the present chairman of Living Trust Mortgage Bank Plc, Alhaji Adebayo Jimoh, were futile. A call was placed to his phone, and he forwarded a message asking this reporter to text him. The reporter did, and as of the time of writing this story, he has not reached out to the reporter.

Politics / [OPINION] Who Is Blocking Whose Access To Senator Ashiru? by Jimsonjaat96(m): 10:10am On Apr 18
By: Omuiyadun H.D (MRM)

"You can sway a thousand men by appealing to their prejudices quicker than you can convince one man by logic."
Robert A. Heinlein

I read some unsubstantiated and false accusations that a former SUG President from Offa is blocking people’s access to see the Senator, what will it profit me to deny people’s access to the Senator when I am one of the few that creates unhindered access to him? while It will be so easy for me to ignore such satanic assertion due to it lack of merit, it is important to make this public clarification to prevent the lobotomization of innocent readers.

As the P.A to Senator Ashiru, my priority and target is to count numbers of people who I have used my position to help just like the way I used my position as SUG President to influence many young comrades to seek and attain the mantle of leadership among other achievements. I am not unaware of the fact that many acquaintances, friends and comrades who had a privilege to know my ability as former union leader will have huge expectations from my office but what of the reality of the office ?

I am bold to categorically state that I have severely used my good office to navigate access and influence meetings with the Senator for different people even at the expense of my position, but I can never deny the fact that I may not be able to satisfy those people who may be secretly in love with my activities but hate the fact that Omuz is the one doing it; such beyond our comprehension but just a grace of almighty Allah.

To the naysayers, if you can mention one person that I have denied his/her access to the Senator with evidence, I am ready to openly apologize to anyone who genuinely feels that my innocent action or inactions blocked his/her chances to see the Senator, for those who are paddlers of fallacy and false accusations, I urge you to desist from the journey of “Pull Omuz down at all cost” I have painstakingly paid my dues secretly and openly!

To the glory of almighty Allah, I have never been a failure in all my official engagements- from OSU days to later became the first Indigenous SUG President not even my position as the pioneer Chairman of Non-Academic Staff Union at Federal Polytechnic Ile-Oluji where I used my office to secure the employment of about 5 indigene of Offa and many others who are not from Offa when IPPIS refused to capture them for payment of salary for more than a year. Inshallah this my present position will never be an exemption in touching people’s life.

Please let’s learn to be our brother’s keeper not a breaker’s.

It is Yah-Omuz’s turn today, it may be you or your darling brother tomorrow.

Nairaland / General / Kwara Govt Donates N10m To Owode Marketers After Inferno by Jimsonjaat96(m): 8:57pm On Apr 16
The Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq-led government of Kwara State, on Tuesday, April 16, donated a sum of N10m to Owode marketers whose shops were engulfed by inferno.

The government, through the Kwara State Emergency Management Agency (KSEMA), made this known during the presentation of a N10m cheque at the palace of the Olofa of Offaland, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi Okikiola Ajagbungbade I, Esuwoye II.

It would be recalled that earlier this month, the popular market in the ancient town of Offa, Offa Local Government Area of Kwara State, went up in flames, with property estimated at about N360 million destroyed in the inferno.

It was gathered that the fire outbreak, which affected a section of the market, started at about 2:00 am and raged for about five hours before the combined efforts of men from the federal and state fire services could put out the fire. About 50 shops were burnt in the inferno, while the bustling commercial hub, housing 3,820 shops and 1,180 stands, suffered minimal damage. It was also gathered that goods, especially foodstuffs, charcoal, and fairly used clothes, worth millions of naira, were lost to the inferno.

Reacting to the N10m donation, the Olofa of Offa, applauding Governor Abdulrazaq, said, “When I came around the day it happened, I said Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq is a governor for all. He knows everything that’s happening here as if he lives in Offa. He hadn’t spoken to me that day, but I had told people he would do something. Just yesterday, I was informed of this relief fund. He will also rebuild the market.

“Our governor is the governor for all Kwara and Kwarans: not just a section of the state. He responds to us all simultaneously. May God continue to guide him. I named him ‘Soludero’ when he emerged, has he not acted likewise? I named him Soludero of Offa for a cognizance reason.

“He has done it again. He has said Offa is his second home and he’s proving that to us all. He always delivers whenever he promises Offa anything.” The monarch also announced his plans to build another market along Offa-Ikotun road. He thereafter advised the marketers to be wary of possible causes of fire incidents to guard against a recurrence.

“If each of you is given N10m, it won’t be as it would say fire hadn’t engulfed your shops. So, be very careful and look out for possible causes of fire accidents. Pay utmost attention to electricity and charcoal. Let’s strive to avoid a repeat. The Executive Secretary of Kwara State Emergency Management Agency (KSEMA), Mallam Moshood Saadu Mogaji, narrated that the Agency had come to Offa for an on-the-site assessment the day of the incident.

“We came down to conduct an assessment as directed by the governor. We did the needful, and the governor, who loves the people of Offa so much, graciously approved a sum of N10m to the affected traders to bring succor to the affected people.

“Our Permanent Secretary asked us to tell you that he wants the Owode market to become a modern and international market. I myself attended the Federal Polytechnic Offa, and we used to buy commodities in Owode market. We thank you all for the warm reception.”

Also, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Offa, Hon. Alh Nasirdeen Adegboye, fondly known as Kunle Papa, said the state government’s gesture towards the affected traders was not politically motivated.

“Our governor has done well, and our heads swell with pride. We – the Offa APC - therefore thank him through our royal father, the Olofa of Offa.

“This is not a political time, so you can’t say our governor is using this gesture as a basis for a campaign. He is not campaigning."

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara and former Commissioner for Enterprise, Water Resources & Energy, Hon. (Prince) Abdulwahab Femi Agbaje Whyte, applauded the state government for pro-activeness and responsiveness.

“We know our amiable governor, His Excellency Governor Abdulrahman for being responsible, responsive, and proactive. He was in Saudi Arabia when it happened, but we know he is going to come through for our people, and he didn’t disappoint us. I can assure you the governor would have come to Offa had he been in the state then. He was very concerned and was communicating with us. His responsiveness is top-notch.

“He sympathizes with us very well. He considers Offa as his second home, and he has been doing a lot for us. He has not disappointed us since he emerged. We thank him immensely. I must urge the people of Offa community to reciprocate this good gesture. I once again express my sympathy to the Owode marketers. May we not witness a disaster above our lives. Allah says, ‘after hardship comes ease’. “

Ogbeni Seun David Ogunniyi, the Kwara State House of Assembly member representing Ojomu/Balogun Constituency, described the Owode fire incident as an ‘untoward incident’.

“It was not envisaged, but we thank God for how things have turned around now.

“I had been exchanging messages with the governor since that night, and I kept updating him. He promised that he will wipe away the tears of affected people; he has fulfilled that now.

“So, we thank Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq immensely. I know our people know good gestures and they pay good with good. Today’s donation is a sign and wonder and goes a long way to explain how high-placed Offa is in the governor’s mind. He is highly responsive.”

He assured the people the governor will attend to other yearnings of the people on health, road infrastructure, education, and so on.

Honourable Abdulwaheed Gbenga Yusuf JK, the Kwara State House of Assembly member representing Essa/Shawo/Igboidun Constituency at the Kwara State House of Assembly and the Chairman of the House Committee on Works and Transport, applauded the Olofa of Offa and Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.

“We thank God He gives us a king that loves his people. When the fire incident happened as God willed, our governor was very concerned as he loves Offa so much. Brother Femi (Hon Femi White) can bear witness. How he comes through for us is amazing.

“We also need to appreciate our fire services because what they were saying on social media was different from the realities on that day. They really tried.”

Politics / Governor Adeleke Praised As A Promise Keeper By Osun NLC And TUC by Jimsonjaat96(m): 7:01pm On Apr 13
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC) and the Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council (JNPSNC) have thrown weight behind Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and reaffirmed their support.

This was revealed in a joint press statement on Saturday signed by the chairmen of the three unions: Comrade (Dr.) Christopher Abimbola Arapasopo, Chairman, NLC

The statement dismissed the group, "Osun Workers Union" (OWU), as non-existent and emphasized that Governor Adeleke has consistently fulfilled his promises, particularly regarding wage payments. It clarified that the government has been punctual in disbursing the agreed Wage Award Palliative to serving and retired workers since December 2023.

Furthermore, the NLC and TUC highlighted Governor Adeleke's commitment to paying half salary arrears to retired workers under the Contributory Pension Scheme, ensuring their well-being. They commended the governor for his transparency and dedication to the welfare of Osun State workers.

The unions urged members to disregard the false claims made by the purported workers' group, attributing them to political propaganda. They pledged continued support for Governor Adeleke's administration and encouraged him to remain focused amidst distractions.

THE FULL STATEMENT IS REPRODUCED BELOW

Adeleke: Governor with a difference, promise keeper - Osun NLC, TUC

Our attention has been drawn to a delusional and misleading report purportedly issued by a faceless, baseless and non-existent Trade Union Affiliate claiming to be a group of workers in Osun State. For the avoidance of doubts, we would like to state categorically and constitutionally that the said elements, "Osun Workers Union" (OWU) as they parade themselves, are not known to any of the two recognized Labour Centers (Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress, TUC) existing in Nigeria.

We would have allowed their fallacy to pass and disregard it as our members chose and know their leaders, most importantly the good works of Mr. Governor and his team.

Contrary to the false claims of the unfounded jesters that the talk and do Governor, Senator (Dr.) Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke has not been paying the agreed Wage Award Palliative to the Serving and Retired workers in the State. We wish to confirm that the government has not at any point in time defaulted in payment of the Wage Award since December 2023 when the payment commenced till date. We are aware that the little delay in March payment was due to a glitch in the designated bank that was supposed to effect the payment. Upon resolving the issue, Osun State Government Serving and Retired Workers are already receiving the alert to that effect.

It is also worthy of note that Governor Adeleke has been paying Half Salary Arrears on a monthly basis to workers who retired under the Contributory Pension Scheme, who are yet to receive their bonds. This he did to keep the souls and bodies of this category of workers alive in his own volition.

We must reiterate the fact that His Excellency, IMOLE Himself, has kept to his promise of quarterly payments of this half salary to all workers in the State. He has paid that of the first quarter of the Year 2024, and we are just in the first of the three months of the second quarter, we are confident that he will also pay as usual that of this quarter and subsequent ones.

Finally, we urge our members to disregard the fabrications of these disgruntled elements as all they have said remains filament of their weird imagination and their paymasters. We know them, and their antics as we move gradually to another electioneering cycle in Osun State, more and more of such false claims should be expected. We can't forget so soon that propaganda is their stock of trade.

We appeal to Mr. Governor to continue on his good gestures towards Osun Workers and the populace at large. His Excellency should stay focused and not to be distracted by these unscrupulous fake elements. We wish to confirm once again the unalloyed supports of the entire Workforce in Osun State and to state without mincing words that as long as he continues to put smiles on our faces, nothing will ever make us look back. Osun Workers are very pleased and at home with his administration.

Politics / Kwara Govt Urged To Distribute Fg's Grains Judiciously by Jimsonjaat96(m): 7:46pm On Apr 11
Kwara State Government said it has received 12,058 bags of grains of maize, millet, and sorghum from the Federal Government.

The breakdowns of the 12,058 are: 7,042 of 50kg bags of maize; 2,916 of 50kg bags of millet; and 2,100 of 50kg bags of sorghum (which are still being received as at today).

The state government also announced the receipt of 8,700 of 25kg bags of rice, according to a statement by the Commissioner for Communications Mrs Bola Olukoju.

Reacting, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Candidate for Ojomu Balogun Constituency in the 2023 general election, Hon. Comr. Salahudeen A Lukman, popular as Eluku Omo Adugbo, highlighted the need for impartial distribution of government palliatives, particularly Federal Government food support, in Kwara State.

Lukman emphasized the importance of prioritizing the welfare of all Kwarans over political affiliations.

He added his appeal comes amidst growing concerns over the uneven distribution of government assistance, with reports suggesting a bias towards members of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Lukman expressed solidarity with Kwarans who have voiced their grievances regarding the politicization of relief efforts under the administration of Gov. Abdulrasak Abdulrahman.

"It's imperative that we draw a clear line between politics and governance," Lukman stated, underscoring the responsibility of the government to serve all citizens regardless of their political leanings.

He stressed that while political considerations may have been relevant during election campaigns, they should not influence the equitable distribution of resources once governance has commenced.

Lukman urged the Kwara State Government to uphold the principles of fairness and justice by ensuring that the new stock of grains received from the Federal Government is distributed with integrity and the fear of Allah. He called for an end to the practice of favoring APC members over the wider population, emphasizing the need for unity and inclusivity in times of hardship.

In conclusion, Lukman invoked a prayer for Allah's intervention to alleviate the plight of Kwarans and guide the state towards a future where citizens can sustain themselves independently. The appeal serves as a reminder of the importance of good governance and equitable distribution of resources for the welfare of all citizens.

HIS FULL STATEMENT IS REPRODUCED

The sentiment that has beclouded the sharing of government palliatives, including Federal Government food support recently in Kwara, informed my appeal. As a concerned citizen of Kwara origin, I share the pain of Kwarans who continue to lament uneven distribution with political coloration in the government's food support and interventions under the Gov. Abdulrasak Abdulrahman-led administration.

It's important to note that the percentage of political actors is far less than the non-political actors, yet voters in the Kwara population. The government must understand the line between politics and governance.

While the electioneering process lasted, sentimental and political profiling in sharing resources is not out of place, but it's an act of irresponsibility to exhibit such traits when the election is over and governance has commenced.

It's on this premise that I urge the Kwara State Government to share the new stock of grains received from the Federal Government with the fear of Allah. Let all Kwarans benefit and not just Kwara APC members as usual.

May Allah ease our affairs and change the situation for the better so citizens can feed themselves without looking up to government palliatives or interventions as we used to have during the PDP era in Kwara and Nigeria.

Some few reinforced failure by re-electing the directionless party in the state, but unfortunately, everyone is bearing the brunt of clueless leadership.

May Allah save us from ourselves.

Signed,

Hon. Comr. Salahudeen A Lukman

Politics / Why Governor Adeleke Is Popular by Jimsonjaat96(m): 4:13pm On Apr 07
By James Bamgbose

Governance and politicking have become pivotal components in the administration of governmental affairs. Governance, crucial for the advancement of a country or state, and politicking, important for winning elections, constitute integral aspects of governmental processes. The latter is anticipated both before and during elections, while the former comes into play post-election victory. Unfortunately, in Nigeria's political sphere, many politicians persist in politicking even after securing electoral victory, thereby impeding the growth and development of their governed territories.

Remarkably, the incumbent leader of Osun State, Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke (Imole), has diverged from the typical norms of Nigerian politics, focusing instead on the progress of Osun State. His transformative approach to governance sets him apart from his predecessors and contemporaries. This distinctive approach has become synonymous with the Osun People's Democratic Party (PDP). This article aims not to dwell on the state's past challenges but to highlight the significant strides achieved under Governor Adeleke's administration, attributing his popularity to his unwavering commitment to fulfilling his campaign promises and the reason for his popularity.

Foremost among his campaign pledges is the prioritization of workers' welfare. Governor Adeleke has excelled in fulfilling this promise, demonstrating resolute commitment to enhancing the welfare of workers and establishing a new governance standard in the state. His worker-centric initiatives, including prompt payment of salaries, gratuities, and pensions, as well as addressing salary arrears and facilitating immediate cash backings for worker promotions, have markedly boosted civil servants' performance and allayed retirees' concerns in Osun State.

Under his stewardship, Osun State workers have regained financial stability, with salary arrears consistently settled on time without impeding regular salary disbursements. Governor Adeleke's dedication extends beyond salary payments to implementing policies that prioritize workers' promotion, accompanied by immediate financial support. This approach not only recognizes civil servants' diligence but also serves as a catalyst for enhanced performance within the workforce. Additionally, his proactive measures to address pension payments have instilled confidence among retirees, ensuring timely and uninterrupted pension disbursements. Furthermore, the governor's focus on senior citizens' healthcare, including their enrollment in the Osun Health Insurance Scheme (OHIS), underscores his commitment to holistic welfare enhancement.

Another hallmark achievement of his administration lies in infrastructural development. Within his inaugural year, over 75 kilometres of roads were completed—an evidence of the Adeleke-led government's commitment to enhancing the state's infrastructure. The administration has launched an ambitious infrastructural development plan, allocating over #100 billion to vital sectors such as health, education, and infrastructure. This comprehensive plan encompasses the construction of bridges, dualization of major roads, and establishment of new roads across all 30 local government areas (LGAs) in the state. Additionally, it prioritizes school rehabilitation and upgrades to 332 Primary Health Care (PHC) centres, addressing critical needs in education and healthcare infrastructure. These investments have significantly contributed to the state's development, fostering improved connectivity, reduced travel times and costs, and boosted economic activities.

Governor Adeleke's amiable personality, coupled with his proactive governance style, has elevated Osun State as a paragon of good governance in Nigeria. As he continues to prioritize workers' welfare, infrastructural development, and swift response to the populace's needs, the future appears promising for Osun State and its residents. His remarkable performance has garnered nationwide attention, aided by strategic projection by the Governor's media team, under the leadership of Mallam Olawale Rasheed.

This article won't be complete without mentioning the contributions of the jumbled opposition in the state to the projection and amplification of Governor Adeleke's outstanding performances. The opposition party who lost their voice in the contribution to the development and advancement of the state reduced their contributions to the state to a propagandist group which one the long run created awareness about the activities of the government. While the opposition's criticisms have most time bordered on propaganda, their contrasting inaction has inadvertently highlighted the governor's outstanding performance, further solidifying his national prominence.

Politics / NUEE Threatens Shut Down Over Hike In Electricity Tariffs by Jimsonjaat96(m): 10:37am On Apr 07
The National President of the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) Comrade Engr. Adebiyi Adeyeye stands firm in his commitment to advocate for the welfare of his Union members and the Nigerian populace amidst recent developments in the power sector.

The NUEE Boss has issued a swift response to the recent press release by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) regarding tariff adjustments. As the representative body for employees across the Generation, Transmission, and Distribution sectors, it is our duty to address matters that directly impact our members and the public.

Upon thorough review of the Commission's announcement, it has become evident that the decision to escalate tariffs does not align with the interests of the masses. NUEE vehemently opposes any policy that burdens the Nigerian people, particularly the less privileged.

NUEE President, while reacting to the recent electricity tariff hike said, "I am deeply concerned about the burden this increase places on our members and the general masses, particularly during a challenging economic climate like this.

"While we recognize the need for investment in the power sector, I believe a focus on improved efficiency and reduced energy losses should be prioritized before further tariff adjustment.

The proposed tariff hikes, especially for Band A consumers, will disproportionately affect everyone that rely heavily on electricity for their daily needs. This shift in pricing dynamics threatens to exacerbate inequalities, favoring the affluent while placing undue strain on the less fortunate segments of society.

The rising cost of electricity directly impacts household budgets, forcing difficult choices between essential needs and paying electricity bills.

For businesses, the increased cost of electricity translates to higher production costs. This can lead to price hikes for goods and services, further fueling inflation and hindering economic growth.

Furthermore, the NUEE President asserts that the intended benefits of this tariff adjustment do not extend to our members in the distribution sector, most especially the Legacy Staff. Instead, it appears to serve the interests of a select few within the DISCOs, disregarding the plight of workers facing delayed salaries and pensions, ugly infusion of high targets for the staff and threatening them to meet up with at all costs, amongst other financial hardships.

A non-technical professional can never make a valuable contribution to the success of the Nigerian power sector.

It is worthy of note, that the timing of this tariff increase feels particularly insensitive given the current economic situation. Many Nigerians are already facing financial hardship, and this additional expense adds unnecessary stress.
As such, no consultation was made with any stakeholder before flagrantly violating the provisional power sector reform act, 2023 as amended.

Since the privatization in 2013, there have been 7 different tariff increases. Yet, nothing meaningful has been done to enhance the worker's welfare other than engaging them in modern day slavery. No appreciable improvement has been made in the power sector since the privatization.

Moreover, much of the DISCOs electrical infrastructure dates back decades. Overtime, their transformers, distribution poles, and distribution networks deteriorate to inefficiencies and increased power losses. Thereby, reducing the wheeling capacity of the Transmission Company of Nigeria of about 12,000MW to just about 4,000MW.

Regular maintenance is crucial for keeping the circuit in good working order. However, lack of proper funding and resources which looms in the DISCOs often lead to neglected maintenance further exacerbating the problems.

Significant amount of power is lost during distribution due to outdated and poorly maintained power equipments and 33/11kV lines. These losses can be as high as 40% in some areas, significantly reducing the amount of electricity that reaches consumers. How will the DISCOs neglect all these, look away from the changes they should have made to the power sector after 13 years of privatization and move on to increasing electricity tariffs?

It's not out of place to have the government subsidize electricity. Whence in some advanced countries, they still do that till now.

Germany for example, has a long history of supporting renewable energy resources through feed-in tariffs. The subsidy is paid based on the amount of electricity produced, and it helps to offset the initial cost of installing renewable energy systems.

Also, the United States has various programs that provide subsidies to low-income households to help them afford their electricity bills. These programs are typically administered by state and local governments, and they can take the form of direct bill discounts or assistance with weatherization measures that can help reduce energy consumption.

Finally, the recent electricity tariff hike is a blatant disregard for the economic struggles of Nigerian workers.
Not even in a society where minimum wages are ambivalently doubtful.
NUEE strongly condemn this decision and demand immediate action to reverse it.

If the government fails to address the crippling cost of electricity, NUEE will not hesitate to take strong action, including the swift withdrawal of our members expected to be used by DISCOs to impose the tariff hike on the good people, to protect the livelihood of our members.

I however call upon all Nigerians to join us in raising our voices against this injustice. Together, we can force the government to prioritize the well-being of its citizens over corporate interests.

Our unwavering commitment remains to safeguard the interests of our members and ensure equitable access to electricity for all Nigerians.

I remember when the VC of Lagos was addressing us like this when I was there in 1973. It was a special thing to be a student of a university in those days.

"In those days, there were only three of us who were university students. Each time we attended any occasion in Offa, they looked at us as if we were special. The story is not the same now. You students, we appeal to you to face your studies squarely. Your parents pay for your students to excel in your studies. University education is a serious business.

"We are very grateful to our invited guests who honoured us with their presence."

Honourable Seun Ogunniyi Adato, a distinguished member of the Kwara State House of Assembly, urged the students to remain focused amidst distractions, drawing inspiration from Dr. Oyewale's journey.

He said, "It gives me great privilege and honour to be here. I warmly congratulate this institution for another milestone. This is the second one in the existence of this institution.
"To the celebrants of today, perhaps I congratulate you, but your days of celebration are ahead of you. Perhaps not today.

"You live in a distracting time; so many things will distract you. I really want to implore you to remain focused.
"The story of Dr. Oyewale demonstrates that fifty years ago he was right in your shoes. I know your lives will be positively influenced. But I really want you to make a personal commitment not to be distracted. A lot of things will distract you.

"Do not let the time you spend on gadgets distract you. Life is about sessions and time; the time you have now is to be focused on having a university education. Make good use of it. You shall be great. Once again, I really want to congratulate Baba. I bring you the greetings of the Right Honourable Speaker of the 10th Kwara State House of Assembly. We are really proud of you."

The Vice-Chancellor of Summit University, Prof. Abiodun Musa Aibinu, ably represented by the Public Relations Officer, Mr. Atoyebi Bashir, lauded Dr. Oyewale's visionary leadership and highlighted the monumental impact of the University of Offa on educational development in the region.

"Let me start by congratulating you, the founder. Let me start this goodwill message by congratulating Dr. Rasaq Oyewale for realizing this dream that started years ago.

"This dream started about 20 years ago, if I’m not mistaken. When proclamations on Offa University were being made, we were all glad because as at that time there was no university in Offa. So you can imagine the furors that greeted the coming of the university. We thank Almighty Allah. The University of Offa has come to stay.

"The proprietor is an educationist par excellence, having established education institutions, from nursery, primary, secondary schools, to College of education, to polytechnic and university. When the history of education is to be written in Offa, Kwara State, and Nigeria, posterity will be kind to Dr (Chief) Rasaq Oyewale."

Furthermore, representatives from the law enforcement and naval sectors graced the occasion.

ASP Idowu Aderemi, Officer in Charge (OC) of Owode Police Station, stood tall representing the esteemed Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Offa.

With a firm stance on security and vigilance, Aderemi's presence underscored the collaborative efforts between the university and local law enforcement authorities to maintain safety and uphold the rule of law within the community.

His words echoed the importance of cooperation and integrity in fostering a secure environment conducive to academic pursuits.

Joining the occasion with equal enthusiasm were Lieutenant (Naval Nurse) DC Akapagu and Sub-Lieutenant (SLT) A. Abdulhameed, representing the Commandant of The Nigerian Navy College of Health Sciences (NNCHS) in Offa. As guardians of naval discipline and healthcare expertise, their presence signified the university's commitment to holistic education and the promotion of health and wellness among its student body. Their message emphasized the values of discipline, service, and excellence, resonating with the university's ethos of academic and moral development.

The Second Matriculation Ceremony of The University of Offa was not only a celebration of academic achievement but also a testament to the strong partnerships forged between educational institutions and key stakeholders in the community. With law enforcement and naval representatives standing in solidarity, the event highlighted the collective responsibility towards nurturing the next generation of leaders and scholars.

As the newly-matriculated students embark on their academic journey, they do so with the assurance of support and collaboration from diverse sectors of society, paving the way for a future defined by knowledge, integrity, and service to humanity.

Nairaland / General / Osun Govt Begins Dredging Of Waterways by Jimsonjaat96(m): 4:41pm On Apr 04
As the raining season is fast approaching, the Osun State Government through the Ministry of Environment and Sanitation has commenced dredging of major waterways in the state to avert flood disaster.

Leading other senior government officials to visit the venue of the dredging, Hon. Mayowa Adejoorin, Commissioner for Environment and Sanitation, commended Governor Ademola Adeleke for being proactive and responsive.

He maintained that the administration of Governor Adeleke is committed to the well-being and welfare of the people of Osun, hence his resolve to continue providing good leadership.

The first visit was the Osun river, Gbodofon Bridge, in Osogbo, where the dredging had commenced. The Ministry boss registered his displeasure on how some people dump refuse on the river, noting that this can cause serious flooding, as he warned inhabitants of the environment to desist from such attitude.

Speaking with this medium, Hon. Adejoorin said he led his management team to conduct oversight functions regarding the ongoing dredging.

"As you can see that we are here to check the ongoing dredging. You know our governor is someone who doesn't take no as an answer. Also, once he gives directive, such directive must be followed meticulously.

"This year dredging has commenced, I want to urge our people to cooperate with the government in making sure that we have no case of flooding this year. This can only happen the moment the residents desist from dumping refuse indiscriminately and on our waterways. As government is doing its beat by making sure our waterways are expanded, residents must also do theirs."

Speaking earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Environment and Sanitation, Mr. Richard Oyegbami commended the state government for being proactive and for not paying lip service to the welfare of the people.

He said, "For us not witnessing flooding in Osun, it's as a result of the proactiveness of the State Government and I must commend our amiable Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, for attending to the yearnings of the people. We are here today because the government is responsive and responsible.

Engr. Kamardeen Olatunde, Director, Flood Control and Engineering Services, Ministry of Environment and Sanitation, maintained that the approach being introduced by the current administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke is doing is unprecedented compared with what it used to be.

"This is massive, as you can see. We have three heavy machines that are working here. The expansion is good and it will allow free flow of water, but we must say this, our people must also comply with government's directive in disposing their wastes. It is an offence dumping refuse on our roads.

Residents of the environment were so elated seeing the ongoing dredging as they trooped out, pledged their support to the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke.

Speaking on behalf of the community, Elder Francis Oyewuyi prayed for the Governor and members of his cabinet.

Counting his ordeal during the administration of former Governor Gboyega Oyetola, elder Oyewuyi said despite his suggestions on how the dredging should go during the year, he said they turned a deaf ear and at the end, he said he lost over 100 pigs to the flooding.

He further said, "Let me say it here, Governor Adeleke is a loving person and we are enjoying his government and his style, he should continue in that direction. I can assure him that his second term will an easy ride, by the grace of God", He declared.

Nairaland / General / SA Lukman Calls For Action Following Owode Market Fire Incident by Jimsonjaat96(m): 10:01am On Apr 04
Hon. Amb Salahudeen Lukman, also known as Eluku Omo Adugbo, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) 2023 candidate for Ojomu Balogun Constituency, has expressed concern and called for action following a devastating fire incident at Owode Market.

In a statement released late yesterday, Lukman highlighted the crucial role Owode Market plays in the economic landscape of Offa community and Kwara state. Drawing from personal experience as a native of the area and the son of a market woman, he emphasized the market's significance as a major economic hub within the Ibolo kingdom.

Lukman underscored the severity of the recent fire inferno, describing it as not only a setback for the affected traders who lost their goods and shops but also a detriment to the broader economy of Offa and Kwara state.

Expressing his heartfelt sympathy for the victims, Lukman called for concerted efforts towards the economic recovery of those affected by the tragedy. He also proposed proactive measures to mitigate the risk of future fire outbreaks, including the engagement of Owode market stakeholders by officers of the Federal Fire Service and the establishment of a fire service mini station within the market premises.

Furthermore, Lukman commended the support provided by local leaders, including HRM Oba Muftau Gbadamosi Esuwoye, Senator Oyelola Ashiru, Hon Jare Olatundun, and the TIC chairman of Offa Local Government, to the affected individuals and families. He urged for continued collaboration to address the challenges facing the community.

In closing, Lukman emphasized the importance of initiatives such as the development of Offa New Market to alleviate congestion at Owode Market and facilitate economic growth in the region.

HIS FULL STATEMENT

Owode Fire Incident: My sincere sympathy goes out to the victims, our dear community, and my words to KWSG.

As a son of the soil, the impact of the Owode market on the economic landscape of Offa community and Kwara state can't be overstated. Growing up in the community as the son of a market woman, trained with the proceeds of Owode market blessings, I can proudly state, without fear or favor, that it's the major economic hub of the Ibolo kingdom.

The above description further justifies the economic significance of the market to the commercial stability of Offa and Kwara state at large. Such an ugly incident of a fire inferno remains not only a setback for the victims who lost their goods and shops but also a drawback to the economy of Offa and Kwara state at large.

I sincerely offer my deep sympathy to the traders who lost their goods and shops in the incident, while praying for the economic recovery of the losses in multiple folds.

However, considering the trend of fire outbreaks reoccurring in the market, I humbly recommend the engagement of Owode market shop owners and traders by officers of the Federal Fire Service on fire emergency management and response. I also appeal for the establishment of a fire service mini station within the Owode market to speed up responses to fire emergencies, which will reduce the impact should such an ugly event attempt to reoccur.

I commend our royal father HRM Oba Muftau Gbadamosi Esuwoye, the Senator representing Kwara South at the National Assembly Sen. Oyelola Ashiru, Hon Jare Olatundun, the TIC chairman of Offa Local Government, among other political office holders from our dear community, for their support so far to the victims. May Allah end fire calamities in our land. Efforts must be concentrated to make Offa New Market work going forward so as to decongest the popular Owode market for expansion and economic boom.

Signed

Hon. Comr Salahudeen A Lukman

Nairaland / General / A New Dawn For Offa: Rebuilding Owode Market And Paving The Way by Jimsonjaat96(m): 9:29pm On Apr 02
A New Dawn for Offa: Rebuilding Owode Market and Paving the Way for Economic Prosperity.

Offa, a vibrant town in Kwara State, Nigeria, has long relied on the bustling commerce of its main market, Owode Market, as a cornerstone of its economic activity. However, recent tragedies have cast a shadow on this vital hub, with recurring infernos highlighting the urgent need for action to address overcrowding and inadequate infrastructure. To confront this pressing challenge and reignite economic growth, collaborative efforts from government and stakeholders are essential to establish a new market in Offa.

Owode Market, with its 3,820 shops and 1,180 stands, has been at the heart of Offa's bustling trade scene for years, drawing traders and shoppers from near and far. Yet, its popularity has led to severe congestion, posing significant safety risks for all involved. Despite attempts to enhance safety measures, including fire prevention initiatives and training for market personnel, the underlying issue of overcrowding persists.

The recent infernos that have ravaged Owode Market serve as stark reminders of the urgency of the situation. While the majority of the market remained intact, approximately 50 shops and 46 stalls bore the brunt of the devastation. In response, market women, a significant portion of the affected traders, are calling on the government for initial palliative support before embarking on the daunting task of rebuilding their stalls.

To address these challenges, decisive action is needed to establish a new market in Offa. By providing an alternative venue for commerce, the new market would alleviate the strain on Owode Market and reduce the risk of future infernos. Moreover, strategic planning and investment in modern infrastructure are crucial to ensuring the new market meets the highest safety standards and fosters economic growth.

The establishment of a new market presents a unique opportunity to stimulate economic prosperity in Offa. By creating an environment conducive to commerce and trade, the new market would attract investment, generate employment opportunities, and foster entrepreneurial ventures within the community. Additionally, it would complement existing initiatives aimed at revitalizing the local economy, positioning Offa as a dynamic commercial center with abundant prospects for development.

In conclusion, the recent infernos in Owode Market underscore the imperative for action to establish a new market in Offa. Government and stakeholders must collaborate to address this pressing issue, ensuring the safety of traders and shoppers while laying the groundwork for sustainable economic growth. Through collective effort and commitment, Offa can emerge stronger and more resilient, charting a new path towards prosperity for all.

Politics / Governor Adeleke Is Fixated On Selfless Service - Aide by Jimsonjaat96(m): 8:54pm On Mar 31
Governor Ademola Adeleke is administering Osun state with a people centric approach and with an eye on good legacies rather than material acquisition, his Spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed has declared.

Speaking on Diamond FM programme, Enun Onikan, Mallam Rasheed debunked what he called “several lies and untruths being peddled by the opposition in the state”, declaring that “Mr Governor is delivering so well across the sectors.

“ The opposition APC and their operatives are simply overwhelmed by the superlative performance of Mr Governor, hence their resorting to bare faced lies and untruths . Unfortunately, the more the lies, the more the unpopularity of the opposition among the people.

“ Let me point out that no member of the Adeleke family is a contractor with the Osun State Government. Neither our revered leader, Dr Deji Adeleke nor the global music icon, David Adeleke, is involved in the Osun contract. It is a lie from the pit of hell to say Pacific Holding is involved in the borehole project in Osun.

“ The companies handling major projects in Osun have been published and nowhere is any Adeleke owned company listed as a contractor. If only those agents of fake news know how much God has materially blessed the Adeleke family, they will not dare level such evil, baseless allegations”, Mr Rasheed said in response to questions.

Speaking on several attacks from the opposition on ongoing infrastructure programmes of the state government, Mallam Rasheed posited that the opposition is pained that Governor Adeleke is succeeding where it failed, stressing that “ whatever the discomfiture the opposition may be experiencing, Mr Governor is delivering good governance in Osun State.

“ As of today in Osun, Mr. Governor is delivering on physical and stomach infrastructure. Food distribution has commenced statewide. Infrastructure projects are ongoing statewide. Like the CEO of the News Agency of Nigeria recently put it, Osun is a huge construction site.

“ Complete renovation of several schools, primary healthcare centres and construction of flyover bridges as well as road dualisation are ongoing. Despite the high cost of construction materials, the administration innovates to construct without disruption.

“ Mr Governor at the same time is continuing the payment of half salary and pension debt inherited from the previous government. The administration is paying salary as at when due while wage award is going on at the same time. The opposition is dazed with this speedy delivery by Mr Governor, hence recent rantings and tantrums.

“ But the good thing is that Osun is a very enlightened society. Our people know that the current government is doing its best, delivering where the previous government failed. Our people know lies from the truth.

“ The public also have their own approval rating of Mr. Governor. We all know no government in the world can have a 100 percent approval rating. People claimed Mr Governor's approval rating is 90 percent but our review is around 80 percent. The 20 percent is an area Mr Governor is working to attend to

On reports that boreholes sunk in phase one of the infra plan are no longer working, Mallam Rasheed debunked the claims, clarifying that there is a ward management committee managing each borehole and that the boreholes are working statewide.

On the issue of food inflation and food security, Mallam Rasheed told the audience that Mr Governor through the Ministry of Agriculture is implementing measures to support farmers ahead of the raining season, listing plans on cocoa and cashew revitalization plan, access to tractors and security steps to secure farms for farming activities.

On the issue of Youth unemployment, Mallam Rasheed described it as a national problem on which both the state and the Federal Government are working to improve ease of doing business to deepen the capacity of the private sector to employ.

On food inflation, he listed the expected report of the food security committee as containing many measures to curb local food inflation even as he noted that the inflationary crisis is a national task which is receiving attention from the Federal Government.

Mallam Rasheed repeated the Easter message of Mr Governor in which the Governor highlighted his resolve to forge ahead with delivery of good governance within the context of rule of law and fear of God.

Nairaland / General / Osun NLC Chairman, Arapasopo Felicitates Christians On Easter by Jimsonjaat96(m): 7:17pm On Mar 31
The Osun State NLC Chairman, Comrade (Dr.) Christopher Abimbola Arapasopo, has taken the opportunity of the Easter celebration to extend his warmest greetings and well-wishes to the Christian community in the state and Osun workers.

Comrade Arapasopo emphasized the significance of Easter as a time for reflection, renewal, and spreading love, urges the workers to imbibe the virtues of Easter by manifesting the spirit of love through forgiveness, sacrifice, hope, and sincerity in whatever they do.

"Today we remember, we celebrate, and we believe that Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, has conquered sin and death through his faithfulness and resurrection."

The NLC Chairman said he owes it not only as a moral obligation to continually remind the government of her duties and obligations to the people, but also to sensitize the people of their rights.

He noted: "At a time like this, when the Nigerian Workers are facing a lot of overwhelming challenges, the angel's startling announcement "He has risen" calms our troubled souls, mends our brokenness, gives us inner peace, and strengthens our faith.

He said the Nigeria Labour Congress, Osun State Council has been working and will not relent in its mandate to promote, defend, and advance the economic, political, and social rights as well as the wellbeing of Nigerian workers and pensioners.

"The NLC Chairman wishes to express gratitude to the Governor of Osun State, Senator (Dr.) Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, for his concern for workers' welfare packages in the State. He also advised that the Governor should continue with the good gesture towards workers and the entire populace. In particular, he calls on the State Government to promptly implement the New Living Wage if and when it is announced by the Federal Government.

The Chairman also wishes to inform the workers that the organized Labour Movement has been in discussions with the State Government on how to further improve the lives of Osun Workers and Pensioners and it promises to share more details as the arrangements are put in place and finalized.

He added that the Organized Labour has engaged the government on the need to resuscitate the Motor Vehicle Refurbishing Loan and Housing Loan. This should also come with long-term repayment tenure and reasonable administrative charges. If this is done, it will not only bring comfort but also go a very long way in easing the financial tension and burden on Workers. It will also enhance their productivity.
The flexible eligibility requirement of Osun State Motor Vehicle Refurbishing Loan beats the conditions of any bank loan, any day and time.

"May the hope of the risen Christ's loving presence and healing love continue to be our hopes and commitment during these difficult times, and may the eternal flame of His love continue to radiate in us and through us.

"Happy Ester!"
