5 ANNOYING SMARTPHONE HABITS NIGERIANS HAVE THAT MUST GO IN 2019 Yes, we understand you love your phone, it’s undeniable that we all have developed a love affair with this little gadget that has made life easier in terms of communication and connection. But please, can some of us use it smartly? The evolution of technology in Nigeria has brought in an influx of trendy, affordable and reliable smartphones flooding the Nigerian mobile market to the delight of everyone that desires to be a part of this mobile trend. As smartphone usage among Nigerians is growing, so are trendy slangs, languages, beliefs, and habits, some of which are annoying. In no particular order, here are 5 annoying habits that drive most of us crazy about smartphones and the people that love and use them. #1. The zombie texters: Raise your hands if you have ever had someone run into you or a car almost hit you on the road. First, you think it was your fault for not being alert, then, you realize it’s not, as the person has a phone awkwardly pressed to their ears or hands while walking or driving. This is all shades of wrong! Get a headset in case you have to make urgent calls while driving and if you are taking a walk, kindly put the smartphone away. #2. The loud phone talkers: It is very disruptive, distracting and annoying when you make a phone call in a confined space and you talk loudly or rather shout without putting those around you into consideration. Smartphone etiquette suggests that if you make or pick a call in a restricted area, leave the room, finish your conversation quietly and return to your seat. This unruly behavior is not accepted anywhere except in the market. #3. The flash masters: I think when flashing was invented, the intent behind it was to help those without airtime alert the person at the other end of the phone to call back especially if it’s urgent. But then, some people have mastered the art of ending calls at 0.00 seconds, an annoying habit to really put an end to. They will never call you even if they have the so call airtime. Daris God o. #4. The supposed-cinema assistance: Imagine this: you’re in the cinema, finally here to watch one of the most highly-anticipated movies of the season. Pop-corn, check. Drinks, check. Comfy seat, check. The movie starts and half-way in, probably a suspense-filled scene is on when all of a sudden, in the darkroom, someone’s phone light is illuminating the whole room because he or she is texting or even worse making a phone call right in the middle of the movie. C’mon! #5. The I beta pass my neighbor with 4 different phones: Are we not all guilty of this particular habit, flaunting not one, not two, but three to four different smartphones in the name of having multiple sims because of inadequacies from telecom providers. We get it. However, why not get a premium quality smartphone with dual sim compartments that check off the right boxes in camera quality, long-lasting battery, speedy processor, and security-enhanced feature like the itel P32. You can thank me later for this information and the device only sells at a retail price of N23,500. Talk about avoiding an annoying smartphone habit. Do you want to add to the list of annoying smartphone habits? Kindly share but first don’t forget to visit retail and online stores to purchase the battery- monster smartphone, itel P32 – a sure guide to avoid all these annoying habits. |
itel Mobile is a household name known all around Africa, but only a few of its users that enjoy the reliability, trendiness, and affordability of the devices made by this Hi-innovative brand, have heard of the marketing tricks, inspiring brand campaigns, meticulously researched consumer culture, business plots and resilient characters that transformed the Chinese manufacturer into a global brand. From its humble beginnings to its spectacular takeovers and accomplishments, indeed, the itel brand has come a long way since it was founded in 2007 and this is the gripping tale that unravels the heart of the story from which an iconic phone brand emerged. (picture) The tale of where it all began… A group of visionaries recognized the need to create a technological system that provided smartphone for everyone for people at a cost-effective price without compromising on the quality of the products. They set up $10million valuable testing labs with 200+ tests for material, 27 tests for assembly process and 300+ special tests to stimulate all kinds of climates, usage scenario & habits of their main focus – AFRICA. With a driving ambition to get close to consumers and understand their needs and expectations in various ways, they birthed itel Mobile in 2007, with a mantra to join and enjoy the best of mobile communication services. From its inception, itel mobile started spreading its presence in over 45 countries across the globe. In 2016, itel sold a landmark of 50 million devices, placing them among the top 3 mobile brands in Africa. Every itel handset comes with 12 months of reliable after-sales service; with 1800+ service centers and 2,100+ professionals to adequately cater to the mobile phone needs of the people. Coming to Africa… Coming into a competitive space such as the consumer electronics industry, itel whose business strategy spun around being a low-cost provider, faced a critical challenge of being a low-quality alternative. In 2009, itel combined its technological prowess with groundbreaking interactive and immersive consumer communication campaigns to address this issue, as it reached a sales record of 1 million. Being a customer-centric brand has set itel from its competitors. It has positioned its products as technologically advanced problem solvers through its Android, selfie, and Max-power devices. In 2018, itel Mobile was recognized as the 16th most-admired brands in Africa. That same year, its best-selling monster battery smartphone, itel P32 was honored as the best big battery smartphone by US famous tech media Android Authority. Product has always been the buzzword for itel Mobile but its consumers remain the core focus of the brand. Itel also continues to reinforce its commitment to giving back to society through its CSR campaigns tagged “LOVE ALWAYS ON”- an initiative that tackles social issues such as A child’s right to Education, fight against hunger and poverty alienation. The journey continues… We can only anticipate or possibly try to predict what’s next in the itel mobile story as they continue to Marshall on as Africa’s mobile phone giant. |
When you think of the average Nigerian, what do you see? Perhaps, a resilient Giant with patriotic fervor, maximizing his potentials and abilities in a tasking environment, with eyes focused on the prize of becoming a viable force to be reckoned with in the society. You see a youthful soul irrespective of the age, and a trendsetter in fashion, culture, and enterprise, on which the strong foundation the Nigerian spirit emerges. In a diversified economy like Nigeria, it is not surprising that every day new brands emerge with a business strategy spun around creating top-notch products to cater to the needs of consumers despite the overflooded competitive space. Through numerous advertising, PR and digital marketing schemes, persuasive information on their products are forced in the public eye. Ads pop up every minute, marketers put on a very convincing show in malls just to get a trial of their products, the process is exhausting, sometimes we just need these brands to take a breather. But, it is not every day you also get to see brands in an African market space get rooted in the culture of its consumers, carefully carve a niche for themselves, amass a genuine target audience whilst constantly trying to discover ways to expand their reach into the lives of these people beyond their products. You would find such outstanding examples in brands like MTN, Dangote, itel Mobile etc., as they have proven to possess what it takes to flourish in the African terrain. Since spreading its tentacles to African countries especially Nigeria in 2008, itel Mobile’s brand value and perception have always been aligned with the Nigerian spirit – resilience, consistency, and youthfulness. The Hi-innovative tech brand only came with one mission- to empower Nigeria’s economy by creating smartphones for everyone through best in class products that are reliable, trendy and affordable. itel Mobile is an encompassment of a unique brand development scheme, high-quality products that enjoy huge popularity within Africa, consistent improvement & more improvement as it cannot be overemphasized. For a brand that is committed to reigniting the Nigerian spirit in every campaign embarked on, itel Mobile has contributed immensely to Nigerian communities, through an initiative tagged “itel Love always on” that addresses issues such as health infrastructures, Education, fight against hunger and poverty. A vivid example is the nationwide CSR extended to children through the donation of educational materials to support the aspirations of the younger generations. Also, the moment when itel Mobile felicitated with its consumers to feel a little boost of nationalistic pride by creating an ambiance of patriotism in all retail stores across Nigeria on independence day in 2018. itel Mobile has reaffirmed the notion that they are not only a business-oriented organization with the duty of providing smartphones for everyone but also committed to communal development & giving back to society in many ways. Beyond the product, it is a brand that mirrors the resilience of the Nigerian spirit. It sees the struggles of the people and embarks on creating solutions to keep hope alive. |

Let me start by saying I like Android phones, I like the myriad of software and hardware customization options. The knowledge that a slew of such mini-supercomputers that are making life easier are churned out daily by OEMs is quite fascinating. There is absolutely no limit to what we can do with them and how better they can get. While some of these devices have compelling cameras that can make you go from a 2 to 10 beauty-wise, beautiful aesthetics that make you want to just raise them for the world to see and strong batteries that make you glued to them all day long, I must admit, when friends and family ask me what phone to buy, I tend to quickly recommend an itel smartphone over any other Android device. why? It’s simple. I get a fantastically priced bargain for headline-grabbing flagships that ticks off the right boxes in long-last battery capacity, amazing camera, facial recognition system, fingerprint sensor and speedy processors over its counterparts in the noisy Android market, that might keep someone like me or you awake at night, lamenting what could have been achieved with the hundreds of thousands of naira you just put down to purchase these counterparts. The first time I got my itel P32 smartphone, I remember my friend called the phone “ pretty much perfect”. Well, maybe not in all its entirety, but… There is an absolute unique user experience you get when you use an itel smartphone, perhaps these reasons that I had to discover by myself could help you change ship the next time you want to upgrade to go the itel route. For starters, You won’t have to break the bank to enjoy the latest smartphone technology: itel Mobile has a great track record of pumping out high-quality mid-range smartphones for everyone that are reliable and trendy at a budget-friendly price tag. As a user, you get almost the same package with a high-end smartphone, at an affordable price. For excellent Instagram snaps, you get a 4in1 Big Pixel technology + 13MP on itel Selfies series smartphones that enables crystal-clear photos in low light and brightly lit scenarios. The smartphone also offers a full HD screen display and better build quality. Besides, You never have to worry about your smartphone running out of juice. I use the itel P32, and I can proudly say I enjoy 48 hours of uninterrupted smartphone usage all day on just one single charge. With an itel phone, you leave the power bank and phone charger at home compared to other Android phones that were gotten for so much money but carry around a dead-beat battery. Trust me, you don’t want to be caught up in that mess. Less I forget, the ease of use. Itel smartphones are user-friendly with an OS interface that is intuitive, clean and easy to use. This might not be for everyone, but for someone who is fully interested in getting excellent value for money when it comes to tech, itel smartphones are truly the best plug. All summed up, I believe Itel mobile has found a way to integrate into our lives to make us productive by creating best in class smartphones for everyone. |
What is your favorite smartphone right now? Whatever it is, I bet it caught your attention right away with its outstanding technological embodiment, when you entered that store to purchase it. (Picture) From full-screen display to notch screen to artificial intelligence to fingerprint sensor, the desire to bring something different and technologically inclined ultimately led to the ultra-cool mobile trends that we were excited about in 2018. You have got to agree that this year was pretty intense, with smartphone brands battling for supremacy of flagship devices – a battle that left tech-savvy individuals like you and I thrilled, as we all couldn’t wait to get a hold of the latest innovative device in town. First, it started with Samsung taking an early lead with its Slow-Mo pride, S9, then its rival Apple released iPhone XS and XS max. Meanwhile, Huawei stormed the market with a triple-camera smartphone, P20, but Chinese phone maker, TECNO beat them all in the market to the launch of a 24MP camera phone, CAMON X and X pro and later Camon 11and 11 pro, with prices below #100, 000.00. However, 2018 was also a year to shine for other OEMs who changed the way we look at flagship smartphones, showing us that we need not spend up to N50,000 on a phone before getting the best performance. An outstanding one is itel Mobile that stormed the market with itel P32, a battery monster device that doesn’t cost a fortune amongst other smartphones that are of relatively high quality. No doubt, there was a cut-throat competition for smartphones in Nigeria in 2018. Even in the over-saturated space, here is a recap of the top smartphones we loved this year: Samsung Galaxy S9: The S9 is definitely one Android phone you would love to flaunt. Not only for its magnificent design and build but for its slow-Mo feature that has reinvented taking fun pictures for us. iPhone XS: Many years ago, Apple had an advertising campaign that said, “ if you don’t have an iPhone, you don’t have an iPhone”. This, in 2018 holds true for the iPhone XS. This device offered new improved features that give a near-perfect and seamless consumer experience. Huawei P20: Huawei decided to storm with a jaw-dropping, not one, not two but three front camera smartphone and oh! did we fall deeply in love with this stunning device. The unique triple camera design with 68 megapixels worth of shooting power takes some fantastic shots with a low light mode along with other stellar specs. itel P32: As the electricity supply in this part of the world keeps getting worse by the day and there is constant need to charge our phones in order not to run out of juice when taking pictures, watching videos, playing games and so on, Africa’s mobile giant, itel Mobile decided to surprise us with an enormous battery smartphone, the itel P32. What do we love about this phone? It has a super big battery, very affordable, quite trendy and highly reliable. Did we miss out on your best smartphone for the year? we’ll let us know in the comment section, but for worth is worth, these are the smartphones that played a big game in the camera capabilities, affordability, strong battery and trendiness this year.

No fewer than 6000 persons who include rural dwellers, orphans and school children have benefited from the week-long ‘Love Always On’ campaigns of itel Mobile, as part of the telecommunication outfit’s corporate social responsibility (CSR). The CSR programme took place in Abuja, Lagos, Ibadan, Port Harcourt, Kano, and Kaduna, with a warm reception in every community visited, a statement by the outfit informed. “It is hard to find companies that understand the importance of giving back to the communities that define them. For itel Mobile, the essence of taking a bold initiative to provide infrastructural and basic amenities for the communities surrounding the brand has proved to be a vital aspect of its core values and existence. “As a brand that aims to improve the educational and health system in Nigeria as well as fight hunger/poverty, the itel Christmas ‘Love Always On’ campaign made a nationwide donation to tackle these social issues in all regions, spreading love to families in various communities with over 500 pieces of pens, 500 pieces of school bags, book materials and water bottles, 400 pieces of pencil-cases, 1000 pieces of tomato paste, over 80 cartons of noodles, clothes, foodstuffs, toiletries among others,”the authorities added. Giving back is an essential part of who we are. We don’t just aim to provide smartphones for everyone but also grow deeper and wider in community outreach in the coming years, touching over a million lives in 2020.” The ‘Love Always On’ CSR campaign train also made stops in several cities, “enriching their lives, and equally putting smiles on their faces.” Gains of Telecom Sector in 2018 It made a visit to Nasarawa Orphanage Home, Kano State on December 15, 2018 where foodstuffs and gift items like itel notebooks, water bottles, Christmas shopping bags were shared. As a smartphone brand, itel let the children in the orphanage know the mobile phone and find a way to communicate with the world. Also, the children at Christabel Kids British International School, Obosi, Anambra State were not left out too on experiencing itel’s love at Christmas. Earlier, however, the itel team spread the love to Our Lady of Fatima Primary School, Ayingba in Kogi State, where pupils were provided with educational materials and treated to a little Xmas party. “itel Mobile spreading the love this Christmas season is a life-changing experience for everyone involved in the community outreach, as it is in times like this that one starts to tide over the insignificant and immaterial things and appreciate the bigger picture. “Nevertheless, it is exciting to see how itel Mobile incorporates Sustainable Development Goals into its core business strategies, making it a brand that doesn’t just provide smartphones for everyone but also cares deeply for the needs of its consumers and society at large. “There is no doubt, these CSR initiatives taken by the brand is yielding results to improve the quality of living for Nigerians, not only in Lagos, but also across other states in the country,” Umurhohwo, itel Mobile’s image-maker, enthused. |

Yesterday, Sunday 16th December, 2018, Itel Mobile Nigeria took another giant stride by organizing a nationwide Father Christmas event with a lot of gifts distributed to children undiscriminated. Forward-man of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has asserted that a stage play artiste from Sudan, Jubril Aminu Al-Sudani, is still at the Aso Villa impersonating a ‘dead’ President Muhammadu Buhari because Nigerians have not staged mass protests to demand for proof of his true identity. Nnamdi Kanu made the assertion during a two-and-half-hour worldwide radio broadcast from Israel. He said Nigeria would collapse under the weight of deception going on within the presidency if prompt action is not taken adding that only way to avert the incident is to inaugurate Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo as President and extradite Jubril Aminu to Sudan for what he described as international fraud. According to him “Jubril is in Aso Rock. The reason he is still there is because we have not come for him. In any reasonable country around the world, the citizens should by now commence a worldwide protest to demand the identity of their president. “Why is this Sudanese impostor in Aso Rock? Abba Kyari is nowhere to be found (for explanations). They said he went for medical treatment. “Let’s ask Femi Adesina a simple question: ‘Presidency show us a video of Buhari in Paris.’ Perhaps, they may have a case (if he did) but there is none because Jubril wasn’t there. There was no Buhari in Paris. “There was once a rumour that Obasanjo was dead but he came out and said ‘I dey kampe.’ Jubril can’t do that because he is not Buhari. Nigeria must fall. It is going to collapse under the weight of this fraud and deception of Jubril. “I am not going to make trouble. I want them to return Jubril from whence he came. We can no longer be part of this fraud.” Kanu, who accused the elite of hatching the idea of a Buhari double, said the plot was based on the desire of the North to hold onto power at all costs. He continued: “This evil agenda of Jubril was premised on the desire of the Northern to hold onto power at all cost. They know it. Atiku knows it. “For the records, ex-governor of Jigawa state, Sule Lamido, told his supporters openly at the PDP presidential primaries that he would defeat ‘Buhari’ because he cannot speak Fulfulde. Therefore, he is not and cannot be Buhari.” The IPOB leader, who vowed to prove to Donald Trump that he never met with the real President Muhammadu Buhari, argued that there are two features within human anatomy that are unique to each individual and can never be cloned. The first, he said, was the fingerprints while the next was the outer ears. While Kanu did not speak on the president’s fingerprints, he explained that pre-2017 photographs of President Muhammadu Buhari’s left side outer ear had a deformed lobule and a straight antihelix, adding those unique features can no longer be found in the President’s recent photographs. read more stories https://www.webexmusic.com/what-nigerians-need-to-do-with-aso-rock-double-buhari-nnamdi-kanu/ |

According to a research from Counterpoint’s Market search, global smartphone shipments declined 3% annually in Q1 2018 while brands like Nokia, itel, TECNO, Xiaomi led the charts in the fastest growing mobile phone category with the largest smartphone shipment and share. For a smartphone brand like itel Mobile, this is tremendous growth and is also a commendable feat, coming from a brand that strategically penetrated the Nigerian smartphone market only a decade ago. In the first quarter of 2018, itel stood at third position with 13% market share in the global feature phone market. That would be itel’s first time of topping the chart as one of the top 10 smartphones across the globe, as the smartphone shipments grew over 200% in Q1 2018. Fast forward to the end of Q3 2018, a recent August report from Euromonitor International, based on mobile phones in Nigeria has reflected that itel Mobile surpassed Samsung, Nokia and Huawei to hold the second position in retail volume with a market share of 25.8%, – a commendable feat to crown the brand’s efforts in becoming a top market leader in 2018. The fact is itel Mobile steals the spotlight every time, especially when it comes to the budget department. The company does an exceptional job in making smartphones for everyone by putting out phones with good quality, reliability, trendiness and performance at an affordable price point. Well, the success story didn’t happen overnight. itel Mobile came into the market with a mission to empower consumers with seamless communication with a mantra of providing smartphones for everyone. In 2016, itel sold a milestone of 50 million devices, to become the top mobile brand in Africa. Reports gathered revealed that in 2017, itel reached an exponential growth with sales volume reaching a landmark of 80 million devices, making it a well-known brand with a historical highest brand awareness of 83.3%. The previous quarters between 2017 and 2018 was no difference. A plethora of flagship devices were released by the brand, each with the goal of standing out in providing mobile solutions to consumers – such as long-lasting battery life with itel P32, building a selfie-nation with more powerful megapixel with the itel S13 among a host of others. It is strongly believed that the reason for itel’s success and dominance is their ability to understand the major needs of African consumers. They focus on delivering continued value to itel users and pioneer new technologies that offers newer mobile solutions to consumers and that why itel Mobile remains the most reliable budget smartphone brand in this battle, and will definitely weather the storm.
