richmond500: it means the loan will not be going up again due to interest. So Nigeria could take their time to pay up that interest anytime, even if they wait till 2028 before paying it up, there won't be additional interest yhh until we end up with another report and being told they never agreed to any of that |

richmond500: Ok. So FG has fully repaid it's principal loan.
The only thing remaining is interest and charges, this is suppose to be good news na, why are people bittered?
Interest and charges doesn't yield more interest cos interest are calculated on the principal and since the principal is gone, we are free. It's calls for celebration abeg There's no such thing as that, interest na part of loan nothing like i dey principal abi vice for inside |

Politics › Nigerians Should Brace For New Electricity Tariffs – Power Minister Warns by jocelynor(op): 1:00pm On May 05, 2025 |
Nigerians Should Brace for New Electricity Tariffs – Power Minister Warns The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced plans to introduce new electricity tariffs that reflect the actual cost of power generation and supply, signaling the end of broad-based subsidies. Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, issued the warning during a high-level meeting with the Chairmen of Nigeria's electricity generating companies (Gencos) held in Abuja. “We have to understand that our economy cannot sustain subsidies indefinitely,” Adelabu emphasized, highlighting the fiscal strain caused by continuing electricity subsidies. According to official figures, the government currently owes over N4 trillion to the Gencos in unpaid subsidy-related debts. A recent report by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) showed that in February 2025, the actual cost of power generation stood at N116.18 per kilowatt-hour (kWh), while consumers paid an average of N88.21/kWh. This left a subsidy shortfall of N27.97/kWh borne by the government. Currently, only 15% of Nigerian electricity consumers, classified under Band A, pay unsubsidized rates, while the remaining 85% continue to receive government-supported electricity pricing. Adelabu’s spokesperson, Bolaji Tunji, affirmed the minister’s commitment to implementing targeted subsidies for low-income households but insisted that Nigerians must begin to pay appropriate prices for the electricity they consume. This shift in tariff policy is expected to reshape the Nigerian electricity market, ensuring sustainability and improved power supply, while placing greater responsibility on consumers to cover the real cost of energy. https://blog.iyebi.com/nigerians-should-brace-for-new-electricity-tariffs-power-minister-warns/
