Education › Re: 9 Ways Students Waste Money, Possible Solutions by joeace2020(m): 8:34am On Oct 19, 2015
zico124:
Its so painful how many students gets stranded some few days after getting some sort of support, work&study or allowance from source like parents, sponsors, few work here and there. Most painful when we don't even knowhow the money has suddenly disappear.
Don't look far, see few ways students waste money:

1. PAYING FOR SIMPLE REPAIRS
Basic home appliance and electronics maintenance is something few students learn, but students have to learn that calling an engineer to fix an extension socket will take away some few bucks from our wallet.
Learn to make simple repairs

2. CABLE TV SUBSCRIPTION
Many students don't see school as school and home as home. Some of us as students need to know that we will have to miss some of our favorite shows when we go back to school. Yes, thank God for some cheap cable TV with cheap subscription packages but the fact still remains that the monthly subscription gets few bucks from our pocket and still end up as a distraction to our study.
Check your income before buying a cable TV

3. LEVERAGING ON POS EASY PURCHASE ACCESS

If you always use your card to pay for things, it’s a lot easier to spend more than you intend to because you aren’t seeing the money. You just press some buttons and boom, purchase made.

You might not be so liberal with your funds if you had to watch the cash leave your wallet. Many of us smile as we make our online purchases but feel a bit surprise when the bank send us our statement of account or SMS alert.

Make a scale of preference, always review your monthly income and expenditure

4. EXOTIC HOUSE
I have seen students from average homes living in 2bedroom flat, fine if you can afford it, but won't it sound reasonable to invest such money? Some also spend so much on home accessories and pimping all in a bid to impress others and finally end up  getting stranded. Get a portable and comfortable place.

5. TOYING WITH YOUR HEALTH
You think it won’t happen to you, but it will. Many students don't take care of themselves. Personal hygiene is very important, you really do need to maintain your teeth’s health or you’ll be paying for dental work before you graduate or later in life, and that can get painfully expensive. Massive consumption of alcohol and junk food habits, and just not taking proper care of yourself in general will all come back to bite you, no matter how strong you think you are.

6. VISITING THE GROCERY STORE MORE THAN ONCE IN A WEEK
A store is not a library! Many students visit the store more than the library. Its not a bad idea to visit the grocery store but we have to control the number of times we do so. If possible, we can make a list of what is needed and stick to it. Because you run out of one or two items is not an excuse to visit the grocery more than once a week. You don't also need to buy everything that looks good in the grocery store.
Make a scale of preference

7. NOT TAKING ADVANTAGE OF DISCOUNTED WHOLESALE PRICE
This is especially good money-saving advice if you’re a student. Student and college discounts abound, they just might be hidden. Just because a company or establishment doesn’t explicitly advertise student discounts doesn’t mean they don’t have any; ask an employee, or, if you’re making a purchase online, use a search engine to see if there are any student discounts or programs you weren’t aware of.  For students who school in towns where the market days are observed on specific days e.g five days market etc, you can take advantage of those market days to make your purchases, by doing so you save some extra money in your wallet. It is also good to make purchases in wholesale price.

8. MAKING BRAND BASED PURCHASING
Store and generic brands have to be one of the most underused ways to save money across a range of products. From food, to skincare, to
medicine. Check the labels; in most cases, the ingredients are pretty much identical, but you don’t have
to spend money on the big brand names.
Also, if you have prescriptions, you can sometimes ask your pharmacist for the generic version of your medications. They work just the same as the brand name, and can save you quite a bit of
cash.
Its not a sin to buy other brands

9. DISORGANIZATION
Being disorganized has cost you money at some point. Losing chargers and cables, misplacing expensive jewelry, forgetting where you left your keys and having to pay a locksmith to get into your house. If the mess itself hasn’t motivated you to declutter and get organized, link back on all the times you lost or misplaced something and ended up spending money in some way because of it. Then think of how many of those times you ended up finding the missing item later and realizing you spent that money for nothing. Yeah, I thought that
might get your attention.

But when you tell them to pay to learn a skill they can earn with and be independent from parents and build a financially secure future, they will rather be collecting monies from lying to their parents and chasing the ostentatious lifestyle all in the name of impressing one girl or guy. When Biafra can take up arms against Government like the Niger Delta Militants and Boko Haram have done, then i can believe they are serious. For now they are online jesters making noise about what they cannot achieve if they where given an additional 100 years. As primitive as the army was then, they were still defeated, so i laugh at what will happen now.

re-read the bolded part...
GEJ the green snake...? Funny you can't see him and his SS acolytes swindling your so-called oil money away, and in *Billions of Dollars*. That is what they and their great-grand-children will continue to live on (abroads) during and after the civil war might have ravaged scores of you average and innocent people back here in *Biafra*.

If you are going to comment you better not muddle up your aspirations with GEJ, coz he dragged you down more. He did practically nothing in the SE and SS while using the region's mandate yet you claimed he was gentle.

If he was gentle was PEJ gentle? The gentility of this tiger which is not a sign of weakness at conning, did not deter him from carting your futures away in the billions, even using women.
You really have time replying people who have sold their brains for a cup of palm wine. They sit behind their laptops and phones talking of how war will start when in truth these people are only concerned about their business in Alaba and Aba.

Go and ask denrele how many places he can enter in this country with all of those crazy gay tendencies he displays on social media. I have seen countless effeminate people who do so well to mask it because of the society they are in. All i can tell you is just be careful because honestly you are toying with your life in a place where a guy looking like this is not tolerated. Its like asking a Saudi woman to dress hippy and bare her boobs in a country where even the flesh of her neck is not expected to be seen in public. If anything happens to yo, even liberal people will feel no pity for you.
