JoelsBlog Team based in Port Harcourt reached out to a few residents asking them how the Flood has affected them,

"Make Government come do something o! The other day one woman and her pickin she carry for back fall inside gutter, See big wound wey do her for leg, Motor no fit to pass, market no come dey sef" - Miss Nwabuleri, a resident of the area said


"Are you seeing that spot? That is where I sell my roasted corn to feed my four children, ever since water covered that spot, I have been unable to sell my corn.. I can't come and start selling on the main road" another worried seller added.

Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has revealed the reason she added Omosexy to her name.

In a question and answer session with her fans, the actress mentioned that it was the work of her husband and she doesn’t seem to care what people will say about that.

“My husband added ‘Omosexy’ to my name. I didn’t mind what people would perceive of me because of the name. People will always fall in line with what you present ultimately.”


She also disclosed the reason behind her absence in movie scenes:

“Most can’t afford me, some can’t afford what it takes to have me on set. It is a new terrain, all will balance out soon.”

Omotola will not be the first Nigerian actor to have mentioned that inability of the current crop of producers to afford their services.

Her colleague Jim Iyke was once questioned as well on his absence in the Industry and he responded saying he is just too expensive for the local set of producers.

Both Omotola and Jim Iyke can be considered as veterans in the Nollywood Industry and it is not quite uncommon to see experienced actors trying to put a high price tag on themselves, especially when they have got multi-million Naira endorsements from corporate firms.

Wife of former president Olusegun Obasanjo, Taiwo Obasanjo, was recently a guest on The Interview with Tope Olowniyan on Linda Ikeji TV where she spoke on the controversies surrounding her only son, Olujonwo’s marriage to billionaire daughter, Tope Adebutu.


Olujonwo and Tope got married in May 2017 and are already in court to annul the marriage owing to irreconciliable differences. Mrs Obasanjo in June, released different statements detailing what her son and Chief Obasanjo’s family members told her that led to the failure of Olujonwo and Tope’s one-year old marriage.


In this tell-it-all interview with Tope Olowoniyan, Mrs Obasanjo, gave an insight into how the former couple met and how the marriage was contracted. According to her, Olujonwo and Tope were introduced to each other and never courted. She stated in her interview that she was the one who went in search of Tope as her son never wanted to marry her because he was never in love with her.

”My son was introduced to Tope Adebutu through my twin brother which is not a bad thing. Two people being introduced is not a bad thing. I was hearing that he is involved with Tope Adebutu and that they would soon be married. Going to one year, I didn’t hear anything from him. He is my first born and my only son. I have two children, a man and a woman who is already married with children. Naturally, I was anxious and I want to see his own children too. I want him to be married. I believe he is capable. He should be responsibly married.

So, going to one year, I didn’t hear anything.When I didn’t hear anything, I went on my own to look for Tope Adebutu. I asked around for where she wroks and lives. I was told she works at magistrate court at Ota. That was where I met her. We talked. She was in session then. I told her that you and my son are courting. A mother should not be the one looking for the girl. It should be my son bringing her to me to say Mummy this is the woman I want to marry.

She then told me I have’t seen your son oh. I was shocked and I told her that you guys were supposed to be getting married. She told me she has only seen him once. She said she has tried and that he wasn’t picking up her calls. When I got home, I called my son and asked him what is happening. He said Mummy I don’t like that girl because she is fat”.

A ‘reckless’ motorist who drank Jägermeister and ten pints of beer before hitting a cyclist with his car and fleeing the scene has been jailed for more than five years.

Samuel Woolley, 27, drank alcohol at three different pubs before he got behind the wheel of his Ford Focus, hitting and killing Richard Gardner, 32, on December 22, 2017.

The fatal collision was on Brownhill Way, Southampton, Hampshire.

He was sentenced at Southampton Crown Court to five years and four months in jail for causing death by driving without due care and attention.

Nigeria female presidential aspirant, Eunice Atuejide has earned the ire of social media users after she objected to being called a feminist and said it makes her want to puke.

The 39-year-old legal practitioner who founded National Interest Party, NIP, said she believes in an equal and fair Nigeria for all but said she can never be a feminist.



It all started when she went online to complain about gender inequality after male presidential candidates had a consultative meeting on Tuesday, July 31, 2018, and left the female aspirants out.

She said what Fela Durotoye and other male presidential aspirants did was gender inequality, then in the same breath said she is not a feminist and can never be, thereby contradicting herself.

Her words made her lose the support of social media users who told her they wouldn’t vote for her since she couldn’t educate herself on what feminism means. Three sisters have confessed to stabbing their abusive father to death after “years of torture” and they are now facing 15 years in jail.

The teenagers Kristina, 19, Angelina, 18 and Maria, 17, are accused of murdering their heroin-addict father Mikhail Khachaturyan. He was found with dozens of stab wounds near a lift inside the family’s block of flats in Moscow, Russia.

Reports citing police say the sisters all confessed to jointly killing their 57-year-old father, claiming they suffered years of appalling sexual, physical and emotional abuse.

Kristina told police:

We hated him and we wanted just one thing to happen – either that he disappeared or that we never knew him. We wanted him just to go away and never come back.

The sisters alleged that on the day of the attack he had threatened them with a knife in their flat near the Altufievskoe highway in Moscow. One of the sisters had grabbed the knife and stabbed him, and the others joined in the attack, say reports. The man tried to escape the flat but was attacked more and died near the elevator.

One family friend said she knew that at least one girl had been “sexually abused”.

She said:

He was always beating them. Once he took them to a forest and threatened to kill them. The mother ran away from him, he banned all communication with her. The father was linked to the criminal world, he was a kind of mafia boss. He never worked, and just received some payments on his credit card.
