A prosecution witness, Chuks Igboerika, a manager with Access Bank Plc, on Monday, July 23, 2018, told Justice M.S. Hassan of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos how a suspected fraudster, Ifeanyi Nwaneri, had carried out fraudulent transactions to the tune of N1, 231,105,297.00(One Billion, Two Hundred and Thirty-one Million, One Hundred and Five Thousand, Two Hundred and Ninety- seven Naira, Eighty Kobo) using a Point of Sale, POS.



Nwaneri is facing trial alongside Omede Silas Shehu and Monday Akor on an 11- count charge bordering on money laundering to the tune of N1, 231,105,297.00.

The complainant, Access Bank Plc, alleged it deployed a POS terminal enabled for international transactions/cards to Nwaneri, who is one of the bank’s customers with account number 0047820964.



It was further alleged that Nwaneri, who claimed to be a businessman, was later found to have carried out fraudulent transactions on the POS.

The bank also alleged that, on September 22, 2017, the POS Unit of the bank received a mail from Interswitch on alleged fraudulent transactions totalling N1.2billion via the merchant’s terminal, a development that led to the arrest of Ifeanyi at the Dopemu, Agege, Lagos branch of the bank.

At the time of his arrest, Nwaneri was said to have withdrawn a sum of N532, 929,914.91 (Five Hundred and Thirty Million, Nine Hundred and Twenty Nine Thousand, Nine Hundred and Fourteen Naira, Ninety One Kobo), leaving a sum of N677, 856,826.80 (Six Hundred and Seventy Seven Million, Eight Hundred Fifty-six, Eight Hundred and Twenty-six Naira, Eighty Kobo)in his account.


At the resumed hearing today, the prosecution witness told the court that findings and reviews done by VISA and the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, revealed that the POS transactions did not follow the normal procedure for international card transaction.

Man kills his mother in Nnewi because a prophet told him she’s the cause of his problems (graphic photos)

Residents of Okpuneze community in Nnewi, Anambra state, were thrown into shock yesterday when a man from the same community killed his mother allegedly because a prophet told him she’s the cause of his problems.



The man, who is married with a child, slashed his mother’s neck with a cutlass and left her bleeding, then escaped with his family. The incident reportedly happened yesterday evening.

Photos shared on social media show the woman lying in a pool of blood. She was later covered by neighbours as they awaited the arrival of the authorities.

Nigeria’s chief coach Salisu Yusuf has denied any wrongdoing after footage broadcast on Tuesday showed him accepting money from undercover reporters posing as football agents.


The BBC showed video of Yusuf taking what it said was $1,000 (850 euros) after a conversation about the selection of two players for the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN).

He was also told he would receive 15 percent of the fee if the players were included in the Nigeria squad for the tournament, which is open only to home-based African footballers.

The BBC said the footage was part of a wider investigation into corruption in African football by Ghanaian journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas.

His expose has led to the resignation of the head of the Ghana Football Association, Kwesi Nyantakyi, after he was accused of soliciting bribes and kickbacks.

The two players in the latest report were not identified. In a letter to the BBC, made available by Yusuf, he confirmed he met two people who introduced themselves as football agents and that they had a discussion about players for the CHAN.

He said he neither promised nor committed to select the players nor asked for money, which he maintained was $750 not $1,000 as claimed.

But he said he believed the money was not an inducement and fell within guidelines from the world governing body FIFA and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) about accepting gifts.

A South African Institution Wits University has dropped gender prefixes – Mr, Ms. and Mrs. – from all university communication to create a more inclusive environment for students who are transgender‚ non-binary or gender non-conforming.

“Now they can specify the title they would like to have,” says a spokesperson at the university’s Transformation and Employment Equity Office, even if it’s not linked to legal documentation. Explaining the decision, she added:

Addressing somebody by a particular name or title are intrinsically affirming for people who are transgender or gender non-conforming or gender queer.

It makes you part of the university culture if you feel you are visibly appreciated and respected.”

The gender-neutral title “Mx”, which is widely recognized in many countries across the world, is increasingly popular, the university said in a statement.

South Africa’s Gender and Quality Commission has called the change at Wits University “very progressive”, according to news site Eyewitness News, adding they “hope this can be taken forward” nationwide.

This could be a welcoming development in the country and hopefully other top institutions will adopt the system.

It will be quite interesting to know that the Students Union at a UK University, University in Sussex, had in 2017, moved the motion to prevent students from addressing an individual with a title without asking which title they would love to be addressed with.

A Nigerian motivational speaker, Christopher Gabriel, did the unusual after apprehending a thief who came to rob at the garden of his house in Abuja last month. According to reports, the suspect identified as Timothy was said to have been stealing in the area unhindered before his capture.

Rather than allow the suspect to be beaten or lynched, Christopher took his time to counsel him and even went to the extent of offering him a job.

It was gathered that after the incident, the man who became remorseful for his actions – brought other items he has stolen from the garden.

A graduate of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo state has died mysteriously after vomiting blood.

The deceased, simply identified as Jonathan, was rushed to the church after he started vomiting blood. From the church, he was taken to the hospital but did not make it.

A lady who sells Marijuana to students of the Federal College of Education, Kano, has been arrested by security operatives.

The lady who has been handed over to the appropriate authorities, was in tears as she was interrogated over the marijuana she sold.


This is coming few months after Members of Reaction Unit, South Africa, arrested a fourteen (14) year old girl for allegedly selling marijuana in school. The ninth grade high school student confessed to have been received the illicit drugs from her 17-year-old sister who was in eleventh grade, of the same school.

According to reports, the officers got information that a teenager in the school was selling cannabis to the students during lunch break. The reaction unit then made way to the ninth grade class(J.s.s 3) of the school in company of a female officer and the class educator.

It was reported that as soon as the officers entered the class, the girl quickly tossed the pink pencil case from her school bag to a nearby desk. Upon interrogation, she told the officers that her 17-year-old sister who was sick and couldn’t get to school that day, had asked her to deliver the drugs to a boy in school who would assist her with the trade for that day, in her absence.

She further disclosed that there were students who buy regularly at them rate of R5.00 each

She said “My sister sells the drugs to other pupils in school but she is not fine, and cannot make it to school today so she asked me to give the drugs to a guy, who would help sell to other students that normally buy from my sister”

There was also reports of a 40-year-old woman arrested for allegedly selling drugs to primary school learners, after some of them who had bought drugs from her before told police where they got the substances from.

A Viral video of a police officer assaulting a nursing mother with a 6 months old baby wrapped on her back has instigated commotion online.

The Ghanaian police officer has caused an outrage online after he was filmed brutally assaulting a nursing mother at the Midlands Savings and Loans Company in Ghana.


In the viral video which surfaced online today, the armed police officer is seen launching an attack by hitting the woman multiple times with an umbrella, while she was holding her baby.


At some point, when some bystanders tried to rescue the baby from the mother, the officer repeatedly slapped and punched the helpless woman until she fell to the ground.


The disturbing video ended with the brutal officer dragging the woman out of the company.


It's unclear what sparked the confrontation, but a lot of celebrities have condemned the attack, and are calling on the authorities to penalize the officer.



According to Myjoyonline, the officer identified as Frederick Amanor Skalla has been arrested and is currently at the Police Headquarters awaiting possible prosecution for indecent assault.

A Nigerian medical doctor, Okeme, shared the graphic photos of an eight year old girl who came to their facility for treatment.


According to the doctor, the girl said her father burnt her hands because she was accused of always stealing. Read his account as shared on his IG page below


An 8-year-old female child got her hands burnt by her single father who forced them over a burning flame because she was repeatedly being accused of pilfering.


She was brought to our facility with complains of pain, foul smell and inability to use hands. O/E she was febrile, and acutely ill.

The palmer aspect of the hands, including regions over the thenar and hypothenar were discharging of pus and a large ulcer with ragged edges with areas of hyperpigmented tissues obviously decaying were observed.

We debrided extensively under GA, dressed and covered her up with iv antibiotics. She is presently stable and recuperating.
