The frontline British think-tank said the ruling All Progressives Congress presidential candidate undermined its normal arrangement and did not seek prior permission to act in the manner he did.
Mr Tinubu, during his appearance, delegated political surrogates that included Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to answer questions on his behalf.
Mr Tinubu assigned the question on oil theft to one of his campaign spokespersons, Dele Alake; the question on security he assigned to Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna; and the question on youth development and inclusion to Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River.
Also, a former commissioner of finance in Lagos, Wale Edun, was asked to answer the question on job creation; Mr Gbajabiamila answered a question on national defence while incumbent Lagos State governor Mr Sanwo-Olu took the question on youth inclusion in politics and governance.
“Yesterday’s event was not the norm and our Chair was not notified in advance that Mr Tinubu would be delegating questions,” a spokesperson for Chatham House said in an email to Peoples Gazette. “The principle of Chatham House events is to be able to hear the views of invited speakers, and also to hold those speakers to account.”
Nigerians have expressed serious condemnation of Mr Tinubu’s conduct during the question and answer session of the event. The former Lagos governor failed to express his plans for the country in several areas of governance, including health, education, economy and national defence.
Mr Tinubu, who has continued to ignore Nigerian media, has committed repeated blunders on the campaign trail that critics said showed manifestation of severe medical conditions.
Since the start of the campaign in February, Mr Tinubu has been seen urinating on himself, carrying a catheter device to take his bodily waste and speaking gibberish during public appearances.
The presidential candidate has dismissed public concerns about his health, saying it was misplaced since he only needs his mental capacity to govern and not his physical capacity, which should be reserved for manual labour workers.
alizma: Lol, customers indeed. And his supporters are clapping for him, Obi had made it known on several occasions that he is in no way different from Atiku, he just compared himself with a boy who had gone to learn a trade and Atiku is his Master, according to him. Before you attack me, buy data to watch the video for yourself.
Did you watch the video or you just typed what came to mind?
They claim Buhari has already implemented most of the things Obi mentioned.
My question is, if Buhari has implemented it, or rather if it was well implemented, why are we still having these problems after 7 years?
It's not about claiming you've implemented it. Show us results.
What is the effect of the Buhari chad accord? How has it helped with the fight against bandits? Just recently bandits killed people in Owo and they blamed Chadians. This shows the policies weren't properly implemented.
OGIBRA: Instead of scrutinizing there policy, we duel on irrelevant issues, e.g gaffes lyk PDAPC, NASSARAWA COUNTRY e.t.c.. Out of all there discussion at chatham house, these is what a typical nigeria youth can pick out...as if that can disqualify him
If he can't be truthful with basic things like his working experience, why would you trust whatever he writes on a piece of paper?
I can remember when people cautioned Balabu about the Muslim-Muslim ticket. His campaign released a statement that even if he picked "jesus," that most people still won't vote for him.
But now they want the church to be neutral. Their fada.
Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has debunked rumours making the round that the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, was denied a visa to the United States of America.
Describing the story as fake news in a Facebook post on Saturday, the former Abia State Governor said Tinubu postponed the travel himself and was never denied a visa.
He said as the election draws closer, the opposition will spread more fake news against their presidential candidate and urged the party’s supporters to always ignore and keep their eyes on the ball.
Orji Kalu claimed that the State Department of the US confirmed to him that Tinubu will be received in the third week of December.
He wrote, “As the election draws closer, the opposition will spread more fake news against our presidential candidate but we should always ignore and keep our eyes on the ball. The news that Tinubu was denied a visa to the USA is as fake as other fake news.
“Tinubu postponed the travel himself and was never denied a visa. The State Department of the US confirmed to me that Tinubu will be received in the third week of December. As the presidential candidate of our party with an outstanding personality, he will be warmly welcomed in the United States. OUK.”

The APC Presidential Campaign Council had in a statement last week said that Tinubu will embark on foreign trips from December 4 to meet global leaders and pitch his Presidential aspiration.
In the statement posted on its Twitter handle, the campaign council disclosed that Tinubu and his delegation will be in London, USA, France, and key European Union member states to share his vision and plans and to also solicit the support of the Western powers for the democratic process that will usher in the new administration in Nigeria from May 29th, 2023.
It also stated that while in London, Tinubu will address the Chatham House, the United Kingdom’s elite Foreign and Policy Think-tank institution where he will speak on security, economy and foreign policy on Monday, December 5, 2022.
In a trending video, the former Lagos governor was not able to correct himself as he proceeded to mention “APC” instead of PVC.
The All Progressives Congress presidential campaign council has said that the gaffes and blunders by its candidate, Bola Tinubu, are minor issues and should not be amplified.
The APC council noted that it showed “the lack of seriousness” for some Nigerians to pick on the blunders and make them topical issues.
The APC campaign council Director of Media and Publicity, Bayo Onanuga, stated this in an interview with PUNCH, while noting that opposition candidates made same errors.
SaharaReporters had last week reported that Tinubu is notorious for incoherent speeches, and committed a series of blunders.
While speaking during the APC presidential campaign rally in Lagos State, Tinubu had asked his followers to go and get their “APV” instead of the PVC, the short form of the Permanent Voters Card.
In a trending video, the former Lagos governor was not able to correct himself as he proceeded to mention “APC” instead of PVC.
“Do you love me? Do you love me? Go and take your APV…APC and you must vote,” Tinubu said.
Reacting, Onanuga said, “What people call a gaffe here is incorrect. What’s the big deal in having someone who wanted to call APC or PDP but ended up calling something else?
These are minor slips and Tinubu even corrected himself on each occasion. Even younger politicians like the PDP campaign spokesperson, Daniel Bwala, did that much. There was a video of him where he was talking about the APC when he wanted to say the PDP. Dino Melaye also did the same when he urged the people of Borno to vote for the APC.
And he didn’t even say it once. He repeated it several times. “I have a problem when people pick a minor issue and amplify it as if it is bigger than it is. It only shows the lack of seriousness of such people. I am not left in these slips. I commit them almost every day. The man spoke about other things as well. He talked about how the PDP looted the treasury and had nothing to show after 16 years of governance. But they are more concerned about his slips. It shows Nigerians that these people are more interested in chasing shadows than substance.”
The APC Presidential Candidate has suffered a number of gaffes while addressing his supporters in most of his presidential rallies recently.
Tinubu while trying to justify his shunning of town hall and debates organised by media organisations in Owerri struggled to mutter an incoherent word, “Balabloo-blu-bulava”.
He had muttered, “a town hall, different from “balabloo-blu-bulava”, to the consternation of his listeners.
Earlier this month, while speaking at the flag-off of his campaign in Plateau state, he also concluded his speech, “God bless PD…APC.”
In October, while speaking at the 7th Kaduna Economic and Investment Summit (KADInvest), Tinubu said Nasir El-Rufai, governor of Kaduna, turned a “rotten situation to a bad one.”
“I am openly begging Governor El-Rufai not to run away from additional degrees like PhD or others. There are educated derelicts,” the former governor of Lagos had said.
“We are not going to let you run away. Your vision, creativity and resilience in turning a rotten situation to a bad one are necessary at this critical time and that is why we are here.”
In the press conference, Alh Umar Farouq said the Ogun state chapter failed to follow internal party regulations before the said suspension. As such, it's unconstitutional, null and void.
Indispensable85: U b real mumu. Dis is d season of bill boards and posters. Nobody in your lineage has left his village except you who was carried by your uncle from village to Lagos. Lagos has always been you fools America.
Typical Yoruba Tinubu supporter. Anyone supporting Peter Obi must be Igbo brought to Lagos by an uncle. As I said, you are very shallow. Take that seriously and seek help.
Indispensable85: As popular as Buhari was in northern Nigeria, his bill boards and posters were overwhelmingly prevalent across the nook and cranny of the entire north including his state katsina in 2015 and 2019. So Tinubu should not campaign because he's from Lagos or South West? The kind of brains some of you zombiediots possess is definitely not that of a human, most likely that of a domestic goat.
Hope some of you won't die of heart attack when the election results stare at you by next year? As popular as oshiomhole is in his senatorial district,he has been touring all the wards and villages in his district PERSONALLY and his campaign materials are scattered all over Edo north where he's contesting for senate.
Please tell Obi to sit at home since he's so popular in his zone and across Nigeria. I don't know why he's still running from one crusade and church service to another. Mugu.......
Lol. You are definitely one of those who hasn't travelled anywhere before. Even APC supporters are complaining about the incessant banners and billboards. What do you know?
Indispensable85: Obi Will not see 10 percent in the south west
Lol. Yet Tinubu is placing banners on every available pole in Lagos and aboekuta?
If Tinubu was sure of winning, he wouldn't even need to campaign in Lagos. Obi isn't spending money campaigning in Anambra. They'll vote for him because of his prior performance.
Dissociation From The Sponsored Tantrums Of Ogun State Dissidents Against The National Leadership Of The Labour Party And Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Council
The attention of some of us in the leadership of Labour Party in Ogun State, especially, we members of the State Exco and Leaders of the Party, have been drawn to an orchestrated, reckless and divisive news conference of some Officials of Ogun State Labour Party led by Micheal Ashade, State Chairman and his cohorts against the National Leadership of our Great Party.
Our thorough review of the issues raised at this unprovoked press conference reveals to us that the news conference was a sinister move of some disgruntled elements to de-market and discredit the growing popularity of the Party in Nigeria, as all the issues raised by them amounted to infantile tantrums that were never discussed at the state executive meeting of the party before the press conference.
As a matter of fact, all the allegations raised at the conference could have been resolved internally without calling a press conference. So, this action was clearly needless, condemnable and unfortunate and we suspect that it was engineered by some disgruntled elements within and outside the party, who are hell bent and desperate to de-market the Labour Party and its national leadership ahead of the 2023 elections.
For the avoidance of doubt, Presidential Campaign Council, PCC is the perrogative of the Presidential Candidate and the National Working Committee, NWC of LP and since the PCC has been approved by the NWC no member of the party has the moral right to call for its dissolution.
Again, the issue of national spread, as far as we are concerned, has been taken care of as Obi is from SE, Datti is from NW and the DG is from SW. So, nobody should be seen crying more than the bereaved as the North is not complaining.
On the issue of not including Mr Abayomi Arabambi, (embattled National Publicity Secretary from Ogun State) in the PCC, this can be amicably addressed instead of making a mountain out of a mole hill by these elements.
To this end, we, however wish to dissociate ourselves from the unruly hatchet job of these Exco Members of labour party in Ogun State and hereby reaffirm our confidence in the leadership of Comrade Barr Julius Abure, the National Chairman and Mr Peter Obi, the Presidential Candidate and the present leaders of Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council.
On the court issues of our Candidates, the National Leadership has assured us that no stone will be left unturned and that they are determined to prevent any officer of the party from extorting, defrauding or manipulating unsuspecting candidates on the basis of legal actions of the party.
Signed: Engr. Jagun Lookman Deputy State Chairman (Ogun East)
Chief Ope Ijaola Deputy State Chairman (Ogun Central)
Prince Oluwatosin Meadows State Organising Secretary
On Behalf of other Exco Members and State Leaders of Ogun State Labour Party.
