A Pro-democracy group, Coalition For Good Governance (CGG) has asked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the general public to ignore the recent smear campaign against Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Bayo Ojulari.

The good governance group said it has studied the campaign and discovered that "It is not about facts or performance. It is about vested interests seeking to reclaim the corridors of unchecked power and patronage within the oil and gas sector."

In a statement released Tuesday in Abuja, signed by its national coordinator, Comrade Olaniyi Olawale, said the path of progress, accountability, and modernization being championed by Mr. Bayo Ojulari must not be derailed by fabricated conspiracies or cabal-driven propaganda.

It urged President Tinubu to continue to lend his strategic patience and unwavering support to Mr. Ojulari as he carries out the difficult but necessary task of repositioning the NNPC into a globally competitive, transparent, and investor-friendly national oil company.

The statement added that enemies of reform may roar loudly, but truth, performance, and service to nation will ultimately prevail.

"By targeting Mr. Ojulari with fabrications, half-truths, and manufactured associations, these actors seek to undermine his reforms and derail the Renewed Hope Agenda of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.

"Since assuming office, Mr. Ojulari has demonstrated visionary and results-oriented leadership in line with the President’s energy sector reform blueprint. Among his achievements are:

"Operational Repositioning: Instituting efficiency measures to streamline NNPC operations, reduce leakages, and improve accountability.

"Transparency & Corporate Governance: Enforcing global best practices in financial reporting and regulatory compliance.

"Investor Confidence: Reassuring both local and international investors, including the IOCs, of Nigeria’s seriousness in repositioning its energy sector for growth and sustainability.

" Alignment with Renewed Hope Agenda: Driving policies that directly complement President Tinubu’s national development and economic diversification vision.

"By every measurable indicator, Mr. Ojulari remains one of the best-performing appointments in this administration — a professional committed to service delivery, not politics."

While warning against the false narrative, the group said: "The falsehoods being circulated, ranging from alleged political collusion to frivolous retreats and baseless business ties are nothing but tools of blackmail. They are intended to pressure the Presidency into making hasty, ill-advised decisions that would embolden corrupt actors and reverse hard-earned progress.

"We therefore urge Mr. President not to be cowed by these naysayers, detractors, and accomplices of the old order who are desperate to hold on to their corrupt grip over the NNPC. Yielding to such antics would not only embolden mediocrity but also risk eroding investor trust, particularly among foreign investors and International Oil Companies (IOCs) who closely monitor Nigeria’s energy governance landscape.

"Investor confidence could wane, slowing capital inflows into vital projects.

"Nigeria’s image as a serious player in the global energy market could be damaged.

"The credibility of the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda would be unfairly questioned on the altar of blackmail."

......asks the outfit to retract or risk a lawsuit


Business mogul, Abdullahi Bashir-Haske has on Monday, September 1, on behalf of himself and one of his companies, Mars Aviation Limited, called on news outfit, The Africa Report to retract a news publication it did in which it claimed that Abdullahi Bashir-Haske opened up on a fraudulent transaction upon which he is under investigation.

Reacting via his team of lawyers, Abdullahi Bashir-Haske has asked the France-based publishing outfit to do a retraction of the publication. With facts, he proved that the said publication is fake news and a defamation of his person and his business.

Abdullahi Bashir-Haske speaking further via his team of lawyers, "Banwo and Ighodalo", one of the very best law firms in Africa, said every transaction himself and any of his companies have ever been involved in are legitimate and none were corrupt either by intent or by proceeds.

Deputy National Welfare Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), David Itopa (History), has extended warm felicitations to the ADC National Vice Chairman (North Central) and former Senator representing Kogi West, Senator Tunde Ogbeha, on the occasion of his 78th birthday.

In his congratulatory message on Monday, Itopa described Senator Ogbeha as a visionary leader whose influence has shaped the growth of many leaders across generations.

According to him, “the only viable alternative to changing the narrative of a failed government is through the democratic process of voting, as enshrined in the 1999 Constitution (as amended).

According to pictures circulating on the internet as of Wednesday, August 27, 2025, a younger brother of the Minister for Petroleum is alleged to be spearheading a protest against the GCEO of NNPCL.


Jonathan Lokpobri, a younger brother of Heineken Lokpobri, Minister for Petroleum led a protest calling for the sack of NNPCL GCEO, Bashir Ojulari.

Jonathan Lokpobri is the President of Ijaw Youth Congress (IYC).

This is unconnected with the recent travails of the NNPCL GCEO in his efforts to bring about stability in the oil and gas industry in Nigeria.

While some say Ojulari is doing a good job, it has not been without being faced with protests from people and groups who feel Ojulari needs to be sacked for some allegations that are yet to be proven in any law court.

Opinions are divided on how well Ojulari has been performing in office as GCEO of NNPCL, but as of this afternoon, Wednesday, August 27, 2025, a younger brother of the Petroleum Minister, in his capacity as President of Ijaw Youth Congress led a protest against the NNPCL GCEO calling for the sack of the NNPCL GCEO.

COMMUNIQUE ON THE RESOLUTION OF THE FORUM OF PDP ZONAL YOUTH LEADERS MEETING HELD ON AUGUST 23RD , 2025.


We, the zonal youth leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on this day came together to look at the state of the nation and the state of the PDP and readiness of the party for the forthcoming 2027 polls.

We resolved as follows:


1. We commend The Amb. Ilya Damagum-led National Working Committee (NWC) for the great works he and Senator Samuel Anyanwu, our capacity National Secretary of the party and every other member of the NWC are doing for the party's progress and unity everyday.

2. We appreciate the Governors under the leadership of H. E Bala Muhammed who stood by the party in this trying period and also all the National Assembly Members.

3. We appreciate the reconciliation committee under the leadership of H. E Bukola Saraki and H. E Hassan Dakwambo for there effort in reconciling the party.


4. We call for reconciliation of all warring factions in PDP.

5. We appeal that all the youth leaders across the country should all carried along in the Northern and Southern agenda of party.

6. We appeal that, in the Northern and Southern agenda of the party, everybody should be carried along and that nobody should be marginalized.


7. We call on all the PDP Governors and party leaders to work together to ensure PDP stays united.

8. We speak to reconciliation, unity, harmonization of the party. We call for total reconciliation of all warring factions within the party and we call for total unity and harmonization across every section of the party across all the wards and zones in the country.


9. We appeal that the NWC should ensure that all zones should have conclusive congresses to enable us have and hitch free convention.


10. We call on all members of the party to work together towards the success of the forthcoming national convention of the party, from planning stage down to the very last aspect of it, to ensure that every stakeholder is carried along including date and venue for the convention, to show that the PDP is really ready for 2027 by way of a show of unity, strength and capacity which the PDP is well known for as Nigerians look towards the PDP as the only alternative party as we head towards 2027 polls.

11. We call on all state youth to remain calm and focus on voters register mobilization in their different state as a date will be communicated immediately after NEC meeting to have a robust discussion with our National Youth Leader to enable us champion a new path way for the party.

12. We call on the Nigerian Youth to have faith in our party as remain the major opposition political party that can rescue our dear nation from the current balablu economic situation that is putting our country in abject poverty.

Today, August 21, 2025 is the second anniversary of Prince Shuaibu Abubakar Audu as the Honourable Minister of Steel and Development. As such, I find myself reflecting on the significant milestones that have been achieved so far.

These past two years have witnessed a great commitment to the steel industry and the resultant vital role in national development, showcasing achievements that not only reflect effective leadership on the part of Prince Shuaibu Abubakar Audu but also sets the stage for future progress in the steel sector.

These past two years, Prince Shuaibu Abubakar Audu has displayed unrelenting dedication to transforming Nigeria's steel sector, highlighting its value as the foundation of industrial growth and a great avenue for job creation in Nigeria.

Through strategic moves and bold initiatives, Minister Shuaibu has put together policies that will boost local production capabilities and prioritise the use of indigenous raw materials.

This puts focus on self sufficiency, an idea that is in tandem with the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu which is focused on reducing import dependence and improving the nation's economy.

The great feats achieved these past two years by Prince Shuaibu Abubakar Audu are much, some of which include key partnerships with local and international stakeholders and investors aimed at reviving the steel industry in Nigeria.

Under his leadership, there have been remarkable investments in infrastructure and technology in the steel sector in Nigeria, all of which are crucial for actualising the installation of modern steel plants in Nigeria as well as for improving the operational capabilities of the steel plants in Nigeria. These bold actions under the leadership of Prince Shuaibu Abubakar Audu have not only increased production output but have also placed Nigeria on the map in terms of global steel production, as a competitive player in the steel market.

In achieving all these milestones, Prince Shuaibu has prioritized environmental-friendly solutions to the problems in the steel industry while also ensuring only practices that align with international standards.

Prince Shuaibu has also led initiatives that will promote green energy solutions in the course of modernising the steel sector in Nigeria with the aim to minimize the potential harm steel production can have against the immediate environment of host communities.

Prince Shuaibu has these past two years ensured that the Steel industry in Nigeria contributes to sustainable development goals that address the challenges of climate change.

Upon recognizing the importance of human capital development in the steel industry, Prince Shuaibu has initiated several programmes that are aimed at skills training and capacity building.

This has led to empowerment of millions of youths in Nigeria both directly and indirectly, both personally and interpersonally.

By creating such large workforce through human capital development initiatives and skills trainings, he has contributed greatly towards reducing unemployment in Nigeria. By empowering such workforce, he is giving renewed hope to those in the steel sector, including students, artisans and enthusiasts who want to either work or invest skills or resources in the industry, hence he is ensuring a culture of innovation and continuous improvement, that will ensure that the industry is equipped with the necessary skills, personnel, environment and investors interests to meet current and future demands.

As I reflect on these milestones, I also quite acknowledge that there are challenges that are yet ahead.

The road that leads to the steel industry of our dreams is not without obstacles such as unstable global markets plagued by international conflicts and global politics, and infrastructural deficiencies.

Be that as it may, with the strong bold vision Prince Shuaibu has formulated and is using to lead the steel sector, there is a strong foundation established and the future stands secured.

Upon the solid foundation built by Prince Shuaibu's mission for the steel sector, the future of steel production in Nigeria stands bright.

Prince Shuaibu Abubakar Audu’s two years so far as the Honourable Minister of Steel and Development stand as a testament of his commitment to steering Nigeria’s steel industry towards a future that is prosperous.

I therefore can say Nigeria has a reason to celebrate the Minister.

I am convinced that based on the foundation laid by Prince Shuaibu Audu Abubakar for the steel sector; by fostering innovation, embracing sustainable practices, and investing in human capital, we as a nation can achieve the full potential of Nigeria's steel sector, ensuring economic growth and ultimately, a brighter future for all; citizens and nation.

The Leadership of the Youth Wing Of His Excellency Atiku Abubakar on Saturday, entered into a pact with the youth leadership of the main opposition party, African Democratic Congress (ADC) in a bid to massively mobilise the youths of Nigeria to join the ADC.

In a media statement after the meeting with Hajiya Hassana Dada, the Deputy National Youth Leader (North Central region) of the party, the Atiku Youth Wing under the leadership of Comrade Odih Rowland who is the Director-General and Idris Kalgo who is the National Team Lead, publicly commended the ADC for appointing young leaders, including Hajiya Hassana Dada as Assistant National Youth Leader for North Central, into its National Working Committee (NWC).

The Atiku Youth Wing indicated its readiness to collaborate with the party in order to actualize the desired change which Nigerians crave by promoting youth inclusion in Nigerian politics through the African Democratic Congress (ADC) platform.

Furthermore, the Atiku Youth Wing media directorate praised the ADC for "boldly demonstrating" youth inclusion, highlighting Hassana Dada among others like Bilyaminu Duhu, Jackie Wayas, David Itopa, and Hauwa Yusuf as the signs that "the ADC is indeed a youthful party".

The Atiku Youth Wing emphasized that this move sets a "powerful example" of giving youths a seat in political decision-making processes.

The Atiku Youth Wing promised to be unrelenting in its bid to mobilise tens of millions of youths across all the grassroots and nooks and crannies of Nigeria for the ADC in a bid to ensure that the ADC becomes the party of the youths and also that the youths via the ADC take over almost all the leadership seats in the country, come 2027.

...says ex-governors, Oyebanji targeting state's treasury

The governorship hopeful in Ekiti State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), Otunba Emmanuel Fayose has berated past elected governors of the state for endorsing Governor Abiodun Oyebanji for second term.

In a statement he issued in Ado-Ekiti on Saturday, Otunba Fayose described the reported endorsement as selfish and against the interest of the people of the state.

"The reported endorsement of Governor Oyebanji by his predecessors in office, mainly former governors Niyi Adebayo, Peter Ayodele Fayose, Olusegun Oni and Kayode Fayemi is not only shameful but selfish and self serving.

"I am making this assertion based on the current realities in the state, which has made Ekiti an underachiever in the comity of states in the country," he said

Commenting further on the development, Otunba Fayose stated that the prime motive of the endorsement is the common patrimony of the state, which he said they (the past governors) have hijacked since 1999.

"Since 1999, every administration in Ekiti State has betrayed the people especially our suffering youth and abandoned senior citizens.

"Healthcare is in ruins. Roads are death traps.Unemployment is at its worst peak. Not a single major investor has been attracted in 25 years.

According to him these former governors did not build or attract a single factory to the state, saying the youths are on okada. He said Ekiti people are very hard working yet cannot afford one meal per day couple with bad roads across the state. unemployment keeps increasing on a daily basis with security challenges, lack of good health care, no stable electricity, no water etc he said what are endorsing if not failure?

"Yet today, the same failed leaders under the banner of the Ekiti Former Governors Association, with their loudmouth spokesperson, former Governor Ayo Fayose are shamelessly rallying behind another incompetent administration"

"These guys are enjoying their monthly benefits regular as paypack, yet the present governor open the state's treasury for them as a conduit pipe to their advantage at the detriment of our people,"
he said.

Otunba Fayose however urged the people of the state to stay vigilant in their quest for a new leadership paradigm which his aspiration symbolizes.

We, the Atiku Youth Wing have been made aware of plans by the Emergency rule administration in Rivers State to yet hold a democratic process - the Rivers State Local Government election.

We wish to state clearly that for the benefit of doubt, it is impossible by any logic for an Emergency rule administration to be conducting election.

If President Tinubu says democracy is suspended and that Emergency rule is in charge, then it has to reflect across board under the circumstance.

The purportedly planned Rivers State Local Government election will be null and void and of no democratic consequence should it hold while a non-elected individual is still the Head of Rivers State.

We call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Nyesom Wike to bring an end to this political anomaly ongoing in Rivers State and let normalcy return to Rivers State for the good of democracy.

Acting Deputy National Welfare Secretary of Nigeria's main opposition party, African Democratic Congress (ADC), Hon. David Itopa (History) on Friday paid a courtesy visit to former Kogi Central Senator, M. S. Ohiare. They talked about the state of the nation, with emphasis on where the country ought to be in the nearest future if it is placed in the right hands.

"We had very fruitful conversations about where we want to be as a state in the coming years. His experience and wealth of knowledge is deep and inspiring," History said while briefing journalists after the meeting.

"We are focused on bringing everyone together and building a consensus for national building.

ADC Knocks APC Over Premature Tinubu Endorsements, Says Nigeria Suffers While Ruling Party Goes into Campaign Mode Two Years Early.


The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has berated the ruling All Progressives Congress for what it calls a “non-stop victory parade” in favour of President Bola Tinubu, accusing the party of breaching electoral law and mocking citizens’ hardship with premature re-election campaigns and rallies.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, ADC spokesperson Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi said the choreographed endorsements rolling out from Abuja to Kano and the President’s campaign billboards lining the streets of Abuja, flout the Independent National Electoral Commission’s reminder that campaign activity is illegal until 150 days before the 2027 polls.

Abdullahi argued that while the APC is “hoisting billboards instead of fixing the nation’s broken economy,” inflation has soared, the naira has collapsed, petrol prices have multiplied, and kidnapping has morphed into an industry—evidence, he said, of a government distracted from its duty to govern. The ADC warned that every unlawful rally is a billboard of failure and pledged to challenge the ruling party “when the window opens, at the ballot box.”

For several months, APC organs have staged rallies and erected billboards endorsing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term. From the Abuja national caucus that proclaimed him “sole candidate,” to choreographed declarations in Port Harcourt, Minna, Kano, and Akure. These theatrics brazenly ignore the Electoral Act and the fresh warning issued by the Independent National Electoral Commission, which reminds every politician that public campaigning is illegal until one hundred and fifty days before polling day.
While the ruling party chants “four more years” and sings songs of a sinking mandate, prices have galloped beyond the reach of ordinary citizens. Headline inflation, already twenty-two percent in 2023, rocketed to a thirty-year high of almost thirty-five percent last December and still hovers above twenty-two percent today, meaning food, transport, and rent now cost roughly sixty percent more than they did at the time he took office. The naira has crumbled from about N461 to the dollar in early 2023 to well over N1,500, wiping out savings and strangling small enterprises. Petrol that once sold for N185 per litre before subsidy removal now averages more than N1,000, turning every journey to work or market into an exercise in anguish.
Debt is devouring the treasury. The World Bank projects that servicing our obligations already swallows more than our total federal revenue, leaving scarcely a kobo for schools, clinics, or roads. Revenue mobilisation limps along at barely eleven percent of our Goss Domestic Product, far below the continental average, yet the government borrows again and again and again.
When it comes to insecurity, in communities across the nation, security has deteriorated into a national nightmare. Between April and June this year, 122 security personnel consisting of NSCDC, Police and Soldiers have been killed; 1865 civilians have been killed, and over 3132 security-related killings have been reported across the nation. Only last Friday, more than 50 people were seized in a major case of mass abduction in Sabon Gari Dirmi, north of Zamfara State. Nigerians are being abducted at an industrial scale while President Tinubu chases after adoption for second term. Instead of security personnel, our streets are lined with the President’s campaign Billboards
In the power sector, the national grid collapsed a dozen times last year and several times this year, exposing the hollowness of President Tinubu and the APC’s promises of reliable power. Corruption indices still rank Nigeria in the bottom quarter of the world and press-freedom scores have fallen ten places in a single year, as independent journalists face mounting pressure.
Under the APC, Nigerians are hungry, sick and scared, but instead of finding real solutions to these problems as they promised to do, the government has been busy building an army of digital propagandists and illusion creators.
The ADC therefore demands that the APC dismantles its unlawful campaign machinery, respect the law it swore to uphold, and focus on rescuing Nigerians from grinding inflation, a battered naira, rampant insecurity, and collapsing public services. Until the lawful campaign window opens, every political billboard is a billboard of illegality and should be removed as they are campaign materials.
The ADC will continue to hold the government accountable in the public square, and, when the time comes, at the ballot box.

ADC National Chairman, David Mark, Charges NWC Youths to Be the Engine Room of the Party

The Interim National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Senator David Mark, on Tuesday met with young members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), charging them to be the driving force of the party.

Senator Mark, a former president of the senate, encouraged the youths to take full ownership of the party and act as ambassadors, declaring them the future leaders of both the party and the nation. He pledged his full support towards enabling the younger generation to assume leadership roles within the party and ultimately, Nigeria at large.

During the meeting, David Itopa (History), the Deputy National Welfare Secretary of the ADC, advocated for a reduction in the cost of nomination forms for youth aspirants. He highlighted concerns among young Nigerians regarding the affordability of contesting elective positions, urging the party to make the process more accessible to the youth.

Itopa also called for broader participation in the party’s policy drafting process. While acknowledging the proposed 50-member policy formulation committee, he appealed for the inclusion of external experts who may not be on the main team but could contribute valuable ideas. This, he said, would help ensure a robust and inclusive policy framework for the party.


Comrade Balarabe Rufa’i, the ADC National Youth Leader, praised Senator Mark for his distinguished service as Senate President and expressed confidence in his ability to lead the ADC to greater heights. He lauded the party’s commitment to youth development, particularly through assigning key national leadership roles to young members.


Also present at the meeting were Deputy National Secretary Hauwa Yusuf, Deputy National Publicity Secretary Jackie Wayas, and other youth leaders within the party.

The Kogi State Working Committee (SWC) of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and party faithfuls address you today after extensive deliberations over the constant and deliberate actions and activities of some members and party officials who vied for various elections on the platform of our great party in the 2023 general elections.

Having reviewed their activities by the leadership of the party and their failure to honour the invitation extended to them in lines with the stipulated law of our party since 2023, after the last governorship election and their perpetual breach of the party Constitution, most especially Hon Leke Joseph Abejide and his running mate Hon Dr Idris Omede and other state's officials of the party mentioned above.

This suspension takes immediate effect.

Kogi ADC Suspends Rep Abejide For Insubordination, Anti-party Activities

The Kogi State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has suspended the member representing Yagba East-West/Mopamuro Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Leke Abejide from the party indefinitely.

A statement issued by the State's Secretary of the party, Adaji John in Lokoja on Friday, ADC cited gross insubordination, engaging in anti-party activities as reasons behind the move.

This is just as the party maintained that Hon. Abejide risks expulsion from the ADC should he continue to undermine the party and cast aspersions on the leadership both in the State and at the federal levels.

John in the statement made available to newsmen in Lokoja said the decision to suspend the federal lawmaker was due to his recent meeting with some members of the party in Abuja without clearance from the leadership of the ADC in Kogi State.

“The Kogi State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has suspended one of our members serving in the National Assembly. The affected person is Honourable Leke Abejide, representing Yagba East-West/Mopamuro Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

“For ease of reference to specify clearly, Hon. Abejide’s suspension is based on proven case of gross insubordination and an attempt to usurp the powers of the State chairman and the Secretary. The suspension is also due to the aspersion he cast on the leadership at a recent event in Abuja, the nation’s capital,” John stated in the release.

According to the party, Hon. Abejide went beyond his limits when he attempted to lure the leadership of the party at the wards and Local Governments to a meeting with the aim of working for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) against the interest of our great party, ADC.

“We are aware of a recent meeting purportedly called by him inviting our leaders in the wards and Local Governments to Abuja, a clear violation of relevant portions of the party’s constitution which gives such powers to the chairman and secretary only,” he said.

John warned other members of the party who were sighted with the lawmaker at the anti-party gathering to "shape up or ship out", saying that ADC as a party will not tolerate any act of indiscipline.

The statement further warned the lawmaker to desist from casting aspersion on leaders of the party just as it warned him to discontinue his further association with the APC.

ADC: The APC Must Reapply to the Nigerian People in 2027
— Says “No Vacancy” Comment Arrogant and Undemocratic


The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has responded to recent comments by the new National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, that there would be "no vacancy in Aso Rock" come 2027.


In a statement issued on Tuesday, the ADC’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, described the remark as presumptuous and undemocratic, insisting that the Presidency of Nigeria is not a hereditary office, but a mandate that must be earned and renewed through performance and public trust.


According to the opposition party, the APC’s “no vacancy” statement betrays an arrogant mindset, that appears to overlook the right of Nigerian people to choose.


The ADC warned that the APC should guide against utterances that could further suggest that people’s votes would not count.

The APC Chairman’s recent declaration of “no vacancy in Aso Rock” is presumptuous and disrespectful of Nigerian people, who are tired of hunger, insecurity, joblessness, and unfulfilled promises, and therefore cannot wait to reclaim their future at the ballot box.


We understand why APC is afraid, and would wish that they could somehow avoid that day of reckoning with the ballot box. The very fact of periodic elections means that every incumbent must renew its mandate. Therefore, regardless of what APC thinks, there will be vacancy at the Presidential Villa in 2027. President Tinubu must re-apply to the Nigerian people, and he must show Nigerians why they should allow him to continue on the job, despite his ruinous policies that have made life miserable for the majority.


In 2027, APC and President Tinubu will be evaluated based on Key Performance Indicators (KPI) of youth employment, security of lives, hunger and poverty, electricity supply, and justice to all. And no amount of propaganda can change their report cards in the eyes of Nigerians.

While the APC government and its media operatives continue to clap for themselves, and awarding themselves medals of excellence, the price of food has continued to rise beyond the reach of majority of Nigerians, ever increasing number of our communities are being taken over by bandits, and our Naira remains battered and broken.

This is why, to declare “no vacancy” two years before an election, is to spit in the face of every Nigerian who still believes in their democratic power. It is to say: your vote does not matter. It is to mock the pain of the mothers and fathers who cannot afford food, the graduate who cannot find a job, and the entrepreneurs whose businesses have collapsed due to no fault of theirs.

Let it be known, the APC will have to reapply for the job of leading this country in 2027, and they do not get to mark their own papers.

The leading Governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, Otunba Emmanuel Fayose has described the recent endorsement of Governor Biodun Oyebanji by a former governor of the state, Mr. Ayodele Fayose as shameful, deceitful and unfair to the party.

In a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital on Tuesday, Otunba Fayose however maintained that the event is of no consequence and amounts to nothing.

Otunba Fayose who is the younger brother to the former governor carpeted the move, saying the older Fayose has acted in total betrayal of the PDP, the party upon which he became the governor on two occasions.

“I watched with utter dismay, the charade carried out by supposed leaders of Ekiti State. I am referring to the supposed endorsement of Governor Biodun Oyebanji by some past governors of the state. What was even a source for concern for me was the involvement of former Governor Ayo Fayose.

“While conceding the fact that the former governor has the right and he is at liberty to take any political stance that he deems fit and proper, I am utterly disgusted that he had to carry the PDP along in his show of shame.

“My concern is such that, how could someone who had in the past benefitted immensely from the PDP on many occasions now wants to be seen to be undermining the party in a brazen and shameful manner? For me, this is shameful and does not reflect the Fayose ethos of Omoluabi in anyway.

"The event was a show of shame, with the strength of all acclaimed former Governors and decampees, rented crowd it was far less than 10,000, out of three (3) million ekiti population which clearly shows people are tired of Apc administration in the state. It was a total rejection,"
he wrote.

He however urged his brother to quit the PDP if he does not have any formula for repositioning the party to its former winning ways rather than ridiculing himself in the public space.

Kogi State ADC dispels rumours about zonal meeting

Kogi State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has on Monday described as fake, rumours that a meeting is called for stakeholders in the Eastern Senatorial zone.

In a statement issued by the Publicity Secretary of the party in Kogi State, Mallam Abdulmalik Suleiman in Lokoja, the party stated that no such meeting has been called.

"This is to set the record straight. The leadership of the party did not call for any zonal meeting.

"Neither the State party Chairman nor the State party Secretary who are the only leaders of the party in the State that have the authority to call for any meeting of the party in the State at a time, has called for any meeting in any of the zones of the party in the State," the statement said.

"Our current focus is on working with the leadership of the party as the party goes through its ongoing re-organisation phase and repositioning phase to align with the current yearnings of Kogites and all Nigerians as we all join hands together toward making the ADC the only credible alternative to Kogites and consequently, Nigerians, as we prepare for future polls," the statement further said.

Kogi ADC Issues Disclaimer On Formation Of New Wards, Local Government Executive Structures And coordinators

The Kogi State chapter of the African Democratic Congress, (ADC) has issued a disclaimer on those setting up parallel ward, local government executive committees and coordinators across the state.

In a statement issued by the Publicity Secretary of the party in Kogi State, Mallam Abdulmalik Suleiman in Lokoja on Monday, ADC stated that no action has been taken to erect structure in the various wards and local governments across the state.

The party in the statement made available to newsmen maintained that the party has not appointed a new local government, ward executives and coordinators pending the expiration of the current leadership as legally constituted.

ADC stated that contrary to the activities of some elements parading themselves as local government, ward and coordinators, the national headquarters has not taken any decision on the composition of wards and local government executive committees.

"This is to bring to the notice of our members and the general public that the national headquarters of our great party has not appointed anyone as coordinators of local government or constitute a new executives in both local government and wards across the state.

"Whoever is parading himself or herself as coordinator of the ADC in any local government or ward in Kogi State is acting on his own and not on behalf of the party.

"We are however urging our teeming members and the general public to be wary of the antics of these fifth columnists who are not acting on behalf of the ADC," the statement reads.

Suleiman further added that "The public should note that the national headquarters of the ADC led by the Interim National Chairman, Senator David Mark and the National Working Committee has not taken any firm directive with regards to the composition of wards and local government and State executive committees membership.

"The State chapter of the ADC in line with the directive of the national headquarters has however maintained that the current holders of the offices be allowed to finish their tenure of office.

"Until this is done, it would be illegal and undemocratic to tinker with the existing structure as it is currently composed," the statement reads.

From ₦12 Trillion to ₦200 Trillion: ADC Tracks APC’s Fiscal Disaster
- Says President’s Borrowing is 10 Times Worse Than Predecessor
- Demands Full Audit of Loans of Last 10 Years

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has expressed outrage over what it describes as “fiscal vandalism” by the Tinubu administration following the approval of yet another $21 billion in foreign loans by the National Assembly. The party says this new wave of borrowing will drive Nigeria’s public debt beyond ₦200 trillion before the end of the year, with no corresponding development or economic revival to justify it.
In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC accused President Tinubu of surpassing his predecessor by mortgaging the country’s future in mountains of debts in the name of economic reform. The party also slammed the National Assembly for acting as a rubber stamp, saying lawmakers had abdicated their duty to protect Nigerians from the consequences of unsustainable debt.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) is deeply concerned by the Tinubu administration’s dangerous obsession with borrowing. What Nigerians are witnessing, following the approval of a fresh $21 billion in foreign loans, is nothing short of a calculated decision to mortgage the country’s future just to cover up the failures of today.
Under President Buhari, Nigeria borrowed an average of N4.7 trillion per year, and even that caused widespread concern. But under President Tinubu, borrowing has jumped to N49.8 trillion per year. In just two years, this administration has borrowed more than ten times what Buhari borrowed in the same timeframe. At this rate, Nigeria’s total public debt will crash through N200 trillion before the end of the year. We are speeding toward a financial cliff, and those in charge seem to have no brakes, thinking they can borrow their way out of economic problems that require more thoughtful actions and greater fiscal discipline.
Supporters of this government like to argue that Tinubu’s borrowing is smaller in dollar terms, just $1.7 billion annually, compared to Buhari’s $4.15 billion. But that argument collapses the moment we look at the exchange rate. With the naira now in free fall, again thanks to this administration’s poor police choices, these same loans are costing the country far more. When converted to naira, Tinubu’s foreign borrowing amounts to N25.5 trillion every year, more than Buhari’s annual average of N2.2 trillion. What we are witnessing is the deepening of a debt trap created by economic mismanagement and a collapsed currency.
Since the APC took over in 2015, our total public debt has grown from N12.6 trillion to over N149 trillion in 2025. Over $35 billion has been borrowed from external lenders alone in the last decade of the APC. This is nearly twelve times more in just ten years Our debt to the World Bank has tripled. What we owe in Eurobonds has grown eleven times over. And now, this government wants to borrow even more, pushing our foreign debt ceiling to $67 billion
This reckless borrowing, repeated year after year, with no plan to repay it, and no effort to use it productively, will leave our children repaying debts that they did not incur or benefit from. The debts have continued to mount, but infrastructures have remained poor, universities are still grossly underfunded, hospitals are still ill-equipped and electricity supply are as poor as ever. So, what exactly are these loans used for? This is the question that Nigerians expect the National Assembly to ask. Instead, it has continued to approve these loans without asking the hard questions, without demanding a plan, and without standing up for the Nigerian people.
According to the Association of Small Business Owners of Nigeria, the cost of Tinubu’s borrowing is already crushing the very backbone of our economy. Small businesses can no longer access credit. Investors are losing confidence and pulling out. And because over 60 percent of our national income is now used to service debt, the government is turning to ordinary Nigerian families and taxing them beyond their limits.
While other countries are fighting to reduce their debts, the APC is taking out more loans. The recent devaluation of the naira should have reduced the need for external borrowing, but instead, the government has treated it as an excuse to borrow even more.
African Democratic Congress hereby demands a full disclosure of all loan agreements signed over the past ten years by the APC and the Tinubu government. Nigerians have a right to know the terms, interest rates, payment timelines, and final recipients of the loans.
We also call on President Tinubu to put an end to this fiscal recklessness, and focus instead on meaningful reform, by investing wisely, and spending responsibly. The era of borrowing to cover policy failures must come to an end.

...On some of the key decisions reached?


As you see, it's the Northern Consultative Group of the African Democratic Congress. It's a meeting of our region, the northern region, the north of Nigeria, to discuss situations in the north, especially the issue of insecurity, the issue of how we can strengthen unity in the north. There are similar meetings in the south, there are similar meetings for the southeast, all coalesced under the African Democratic Congress.


So this particular meeting today is for the Northern part of Nigeria. And like I said, it's for the purpose of getting briefings from all the states to know what the issues are, what the challenges are, and the progress we are making in terms of building this coalition.


A lot of people will wonder that your coalition has taken over a particular group that was basically not a political body before?

Like I said, I mean, they are regional consultations, if you have the southeast governors forum, it doesn't mean that they are not governors of Nigeria. If you have a southwest governors forum, it doesn't mean that they are not governors of Nigeria.

So if you have a northern consultative group within the ADC, there is nothing wrong with that. Just like you have the southern consultative group within the same party, or a southeast consultative group or southwest, you can leave this place and have a northeast consultative group. So there is nothing wrong with that.


There is this prediction that ADC, the coalition, will scatter within six months. How do you react to this?

Well, we are counting. It's how many months now? How many months have we spent now? You know, when we started, they said it's dead on arrival, right? Now they are giving us six-month lifespan.After six months, they will extend it. Because the coalition is a coalition of Nigerians. It's a coalition that represents the desired interest of Nigerians to be free from the current crisis of existence that they are facing. Every Nigerian that is hungry knows that he doesn't want this to continue. Every Nigerian that is finding it difficult to pay his children's school fees, whose salary has been reduced to just a piece of paper, knows that he needs an alternative. And the only alternative today is the ADC.


So if they continue to say that, let them continue to wish that this will collapse, but I can assure you the leadership of the ADC is very clear about the challenges that we are facing. We are very clear about the trust that Nigerians put in us. Every single day we receive messages from across this country saying that you people should please ensure that this succeeds because this is our only hope. So they can continue to wish as much as they want, they can continue to predict as much as they want, but for us we are very clear about where we are going and where we want to take Nigeria.


What are you doing to have some serving governors in your folds?




We don't need to particularly target any serving governor. We know that no serving governor will want to come to us now because of the kind of intimidation that they are facing. We know what they are doing to them. Some of them who cannot jump to their party are saying we are endorsing their presidential candidate. No problem. But what you are seeing is a conspiracy against the Nigerian people. The ADC welcomes everybody, but we are convinced that we are a movement that has the backing of the majority of Nigerians who are not happy with the direction this country is going.


Fear of party being hijacked?


No, ADC is not... You see, the process for the building of the party ensures that the party does not coalesce around any individual. And like I repeatedly emphasised, the ADC is not built for anybody's ambition. ADC is a party that is determined to give a different trajectory to Nigerian politics. We don't have any predetermined agenda. We don't have any favourite aspirant or candidate. We are not having any conversation at the moment. Nobody has ever had any conversation about who will be the party's flag bearer. We believe that it is too early in the day. Our focus now is to build a political party that is strong enough to deliver on the mission that we have set for ourselves.
