2027: "Atiku is a good person, he is the highest employer of labour in the Northeast" - Barr. Darlington



Barr. Darlington has noted that, compared to President Tinubu, Atiku is a good and better person. He said this in a recent interview.

"If Atiku was not a good man, Obasanjo would not have selected him to be his Vice President after he was already elected Governor of Adamawa State at the time," Barr. Darlington said.

Chieftain of the PDP, Andrew Enantomhen has said that the coalition cannot function without the PDP.

"As far as we are concerned, they will come to PDP to join us. We are going to be the people to give them the platform. Peoples Democratic Party remains the biggest opposition party in the whole of sub-Saharan Africa," he said to News Central in a recent interview.

"The PDP is an umbrella that is ready to accommodate everybody. So we cannot merge with any other party. They are the ones that will come and we will accommodate them.

"We will accept them and share the slots to them. So expecting PDP to join any other party is just like you are dreaming, which will never come to reality.

"It's (the probability that the coalition will function without PDP) just an effort in futility. Every other political party is welcome to the umbrella (the PDP). The umbrella is the only shade you can have whenever it is raining. We are open to welcoming every other political party. The coalition will only come into reality when they come under the umbrella (PDP) and we accommodate all of them.

"SDP, ANPP, YPP, Labour Party, APGA, we are ready to accommodate them all," Andrew Enantomhen said.

"One interesting fact is that there is hardly any major politician in Nigeria today that has not passed through PDP. Almost every influential politician in Nigeria today was made by PDP, they are products of PDP, so expectedly they will go and they will still come (to PDP). The ones that are leaving are just trying to create an euphoria. The real PDP members are still intact.

"Most of what President Tinubu knows to do today he learnt it from PDP.

"The coalition cannot work unless the coalition comes under PDP and the PDP will now re-shape the narrative on how it should go.

"They will not dictate to us on what to do. We will dictate to them on what to do, because we (PDP) call the shots," Andrew Enantomhen concluded.

PDP chieftain and youth advocate, Andrew Enantomhen has downplayed the effect of the recent wave of defections in the Peoples Democratic Party.


While speaking to News Central recently, he said; "One thing you have to understand is that Peoples Democratic Party is so formidable that no matter the wave of defection away from the party, we are not worried because as a particular set of people are going we are expecting another mass wave defection into the party. So they are defecting away, another set are defecting into the party.

"We are not worried at all, because we know that this is a fortifying moment. It's a moment of re-alignment, alignment and moment of harmonization. So, of course, it is not really a big deal. You know how the Peoples Democratic Party is formed. We are used to these hurdles. People will go, people will come.

"One thing you must understand is that now that one Governor left our party, we should be expecting about three Governors to join our own party. We are gallant, we are fully on ground, we are not worried, the party (PDP) is formidable.

"Peoples Democratic Party remains the biggest political party even across sub-Saharan Africa when we were in power. Even now that we are not in power, we still remain the biggest political party across sub-Saharan Africa."

"So defection is not really a big deal for us. The kind of issues that do happen around PDP, if it happens in any other political party, by now the party would have gone into extinction, but Peoples Democratic Party is one political party that irrespective of the wave of defections, the challenges that we pass through, we come out much more stronger, more formidable, more solidified. So, defection is not really a big deal for us. It is something we always expect. It will come and go but the party remains the same.

"Of course, you could understand that all the organs of the party are still fully intact. People are free to go when they wish to when their interest no longer aligns with the interest of the party, after all, politics is all about interest," he further added.

The Tinubu administration’s latest “Nigeria First” mantra, paraded through the Federal Executive Council, is nothing but another tired PR stunt—designed to deceive, not deliver. Nigerians have grown weary of hollow speeches. If this government is truly serious about local content and economic patriotism, it must start at the very top.

We challenge President Tinubu to stop the noise and trade in his beloved Escalade for an Innoson, Nord or any made-in-Nigeria car.That single act will do more to promote local industry than a thousand policy memos. Let’s see the ministers—those shameless Rolls Royce connoisseurs—sweat it out in Nigerian-made vehicles too. Or is “Nigeria First” only for the masses?

And speaking of double standards, it’s time Mr. President shelves his love affair with Paris and London. If he’s serious about patriotism, his next vacation should be at Obudu Cattle Ranch, Yankari Game Reserve, or Erin Ijesha Waterfalls. Nigeria is beautiful—unless, of course, the President thinks otherwise.

More importantly, the era of jetting off for medical tourism while preaching self-reliance must end. We demand that President Tinubu—champion of “Nigeria First”—conduct all future medical check-ups at LUTH, National Hospital Abuja, UCH Ibadan, or even the #41 billion Naira Akwa Ibom world-class hospital built by uncommon transformer, in Uyo. If these hospitals are good enough for ordinary Nigerians, they should be good enough for their Commander-in-Chief. Anything less is sheer hypocrisy.

This government’s addiction to foreign luxuries while demanding sacrifice from suffering Nigerians is the height of insincerity. True leadership isn’t photo-ops or soundbites—it’s setting the tone by example.

Nigeria deserves real commitment, not this never-ending charade.

Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, on Tuesday, condemned in strong terms the recent arrest of VeryDarkMan by the Economic and Finance Crimes Commission (EFCC).

VeryDarkMan, whose real name is Martins Vincent Otse, was arrested three days ago on allegations of cyberstalking after visiting a Guarantee Trust Bank branch in Abuja, where he complained about alleged unauthorised deductions from his mother's account.

The arrest was carried out by hooded EFCC operatives and he has since been in their cell without being released of charged to court in line with extant laws on detention of suspects after over 48 hours on their cell.

However, Frank in a statement in Abuja, called for his immediate release while blaming the action on the anti-people policies of an uncaring President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

He said that the government has continued to harass and intimidate journalists and social media influencers who dare to criticise its obnoxious and anti-peoples social-economic policies that have inflicted untold physiological and psychological damage on the the people.

“Security agencies know who to arrest but will not dare. They know the real enemies of the state, those that are killing and maiming innocent Nigerians and destroying farms and property in Borno, Benue and Plateau States. But they would rather clandestinely arrest VeryDarkMan who was protesting against fraud and injustice being meted against his mother and millions of Nigerians operating accounts with Guarantee Trust Bank Limited in broad daylight,” he said.

He lamented that while politicians and former political office holders known to be corrupt walk in and out of EFCC, the commission has found it very necessary to arrest VeryDarkMan and keep him in cell for this long.

He said that even corruption suspects the EFCC claimed to be prosecuting is a mirage and Nollywood show to fool Nigerians. Suspects who are members of the APC have nothing to fear as their “sins”are already “forgiven.”

“When did it become the duty of the EFCC to arrest and detain protesters? Is protest an economic crime which is the mandate of the EFCC? Why take over the job of the police in a bid to please Tinubu and his administration? Is it because VeryDarkMan is not among those singing ‘Tinubu, On Your Mandate We Shall Stand?”

“Is this a payback time for VeryDarkMan for exposing the EFCC and some officials of the Nigerian Correctional Service who colluded to make Bobrisky to serve his jail time in a private residential apartment instead of a custodial Centre?”

He called on international donors and other human rights organizations to cease communication with and funding for the EFCC until they release VeryDarkMan.

“It is a pity that a once respected anti-graft agency has become the hounding dog against those opposed to Tinubu and the APC’s misrule,” he said.

He called on the Central Bank of Nigeria not only to ensure the immediate release of VeryDarkMan but to carry out a thorough investigation of all transactions by banks in Nigeria in order to fish out those siphoning customers’ funds unchecked using technology.

He called on Nigerians to rise up against the evil which has turned democracy into dictatorship in Nigeria.

Frank said: “Nigeria is under siege by its elected representatives. Nigeria is under siege by top business outfits rendering essential services to the people. Nigeria is under internal siege but the government is either incapable of checkmating the heinous crimes or colluding with perpetrators and this must not be allowed to continue.

“We all have to come out and join this protest against unjustified and fraudulent deductions from customers’ accounts by banks operating in the country through different guises.

“The banks are doing it. The electricity distribution companies are doing it and the telecommunications companies are neck deep in it. Enough is enough!

“It is heartbreaking that the present administration has demonstrated utter lack of capacity to defend the people from criminals in the forests and those inside well-guarded corporate establishments.

“It is time for Nigerians to take their destiny in their hands and fight for freedom. Those denying Nigerians of their lawful earnings and peace and security must not be allowed to continue.

“They know corrupt politicians who are defecting in mass into the APC but will never go after them. The power they wield is against defenceless citizens protesting against injustice. It is VeryDarkMan today, it may be my turn or your turn tomorrow. The time to speak out and act is now!

…Says ex-Delta Governor a serial liar, betrayer

Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, on Wednesday, condemned a statement credited to the immediate past Governor of Delta State, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, to the effect that he “regrets” accepting to be presidential running mate to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2023.

Frank in a statement in Abuja,
said even though he is of the opinion that Okowa might have been misquoted, the fact that the former Delta governor has not debunked the claim after over 24 hours showed that he has owned it.

He said it was therefore necessary to set the records straight in order not to distort history or mislead Nigerians concerning how Okowa emerged as running mate to Atiku in 2023.

He said Okowa’s position was an “afterthought” since he was not only desperate to be running mate but fought begged and lobbied for the position.

“It is understandable that Okowa is fighting the battle of his life to evade prosecution by the EFCC over corruption allegations against him, but to make Nigerians believe that he now “regrets” taking up the position of vice Presidential candidate of the PDP in 2023 is not only an an afterthought but cowardice in full bloom.

“We know how Okowa begged, fought and lobbied to get the position,” he said.

He equally described Okowa as a serial liar and betrayer, saying his recent defection to the APC has shown him as not only a highly unstable character who suffers from gross integrity deficit but principally driven by parochial survival instincts.

He said rather than Okowa claiming to be regretful the PDP should curse the day it was deceived by Okowa’s armada of lobbyist to invest part of its destiny in a politically hollow and an unfruitful and unprofitable character.

Frank said: “This is not Okowa’s first attempt as a high level betrayal. The tale of how he stabbed ex-GovernorJames Ibori, his erstwhile godfather, in the back because of power is still fresh in our memory.

“Many of us know how Okowa emerged as Vice Presidential candidate which he was not meant to be because few of us never wanted him because we believed he did not have the capacity and experience to become vice president.

“I'm one of those who felt strongly that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, was a better candidate than Okowa as at that time. But because of the interest of some leaders and elders of PDP at that time, who at Okowa’s bidding unknown to many lobbied and pressurized Atiku to pick him.

“Therefore, Okowa lacks rectitude to play victim or feign regret over a job and position he desperately wanted.

“We are still of the opinion that if Wike had emerged in place of Okowa in 2023 as running mate to Atiku, perhaps PDP would be in government at the national level today but we lost out apparently because of the choice of this ungrateful Okowa who never brought real value or political capital to the table.

“Even as a sitting governor and a vice-presidential candidate, his party, PDP, lost Delta state during the last presidential election and because of his emptiness and lack of electoral value his present voyage would equally not benefit the APC.

“I dare say that with his lack of capacity and value, Okowa would remain a liability because even with him in APC, the party would still lose Delta state in 2027 like PDP did in 2023 with Okowa was a sitting governor.”

Frank who is the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) Ambassador to East Africa and Middle East, he said with the desperation of President Tinubu to remain in office in 2027, APC will accept even criminals into its fold.

“With the likes of Okowa joining APC, it shows the party is now a dumping ground for looters. Okowa did not join the APC because he believed Asiwaju has delivered or that the party is working but because of his atrocities now being investigated by the EFCC.

“However, Nigerians and the international community will watch if the anti-graft agency will soft pedal on his go probe because he is now singing: ‘Tinubu, On Your Mandate We Shall Stand,’” he added.

Frank said Atiku did not have any incline of Okowa’s unreliableness when he picked him adding that the choice affected Turaki’s long standing relationship with James Ibori who had advised him against the person of Okowa.

“In fact, Atiku did not know that behind Okowa’s calm mien lies a betrayer and an ingrate. It is only God and posterity that will judge Okowa at the end of the day for making Atiku lose the 2023 presidential election because of his unpopularity,” he declared.

He said that neither Atiku nor the PDP would miss Okowa now that he is in APC with his former godson and now Governor of Delta State, Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, whom he practically begged and coaxed to go with him into the APC.

Frank who made this call in a statement in Abuja on Wednesday, specifically urged Northern and Southern leaders including opposition parties to resist Tinubu’s desperate 2027 presidential bid.

He revealed that while Tinubu is on one hand blackmailing Southerners, especially opposition Governors on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP) and All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) by playing the ethnic card to gain support, he is on the other hand threatening to deal with them if they fail to support him by declaring a state of emergency in their States over spurious charges of violence and corruption.

"He has increased the intensity now by blackmailing, intimidating and putting at least five PDP Governors from the South under duress to defect along with their Members in the National Assembly to the APC.

"To Tinubu, the 2027 election is about him versus the North and that is why he is trying desperately to enlist the support of the South through manipulation and subterfuge.
He has forgotten so soon that the North helped him to get to power in 2023,” he said.

According to the Bayelsa-born political activist, 2027 should not be about North or South but who would fix the myriads of challenges confronting the country, including the incessant killings, kidnappings and banditry as well as the harsh economic conditions foisted on the masses by Tinubu through fuel subsidy removal, increased electricity tariff and high cost of food and other essential services.

He said: “Nigerians are in need of a President who will help Nigeria become better, not 'Northern candidate or Southern candidate' or 'Northern President or Southern President'.

“The country is overcharged already with divisions along ethnic lines. We therefore can't afford to have a President who is setting one region against another for the sake of his own personal ambition.

"For me, Timi Frank, as a Southerner, I don't believe in a tribalistic and divisive President. I believe in a leader that will come and unite rather than divide Nigeria.

“I advise every Northerner still supporting Tinubu to have a rethink. They should know that the North that apparently ‘assisted’ Tinubu to gain power in 2023 is suffering the most today.

"It is a fact that the North has been grossly sidelined in appointments and other infrastructure development programmes by Tinubu who has prioritised his personal and tribal life-interests over everything else.

"This is why the North should wake up. They should know this route Tinubu is going in terms of 2027 politics, is not the best for Nigeria. They should rise and speak with one voice in 2027.

"I want the Northern leaders to know that should Tinubu find his way back to power in 2027, the North will suffer untold neglect as Tinubu and the APC don’t have their genuine interest at heart.

"As we speak, at least five opposition Governors are set to defect to APC not because they like Tinubu but due to intense political pressure, intimidation and blackmail, while those who will remain have been made to sign undertakings to deliver their States to Tinubu, otherwise they will be made to lose their second term elections.

"Tinubu does not believe in the power of the people. Tinubu is working to steal the election results, to grab it (power) and run away with it like he did in 2023.

"If the North can't see the omen of imminent regional stagnation and destruction, they will regret it if they do nothing to stop Tinubu in 2027.

“Tinubu does not believe in democracy and that is why he has succeeded in ensuring that PDP, Labour Party and any other opposition parties are enmeshed in intractable internal crisis in order to deny capable and qualified aspirants platforms to challenge him in 2027.

“His singular aim is to retain power in 2027 by hook or crook. He is doing all he can at the detriment of Nigerians, a complete negation of the oath of office he swore to on assumption of office as President.”

Timi Frank lamented that at the moment, Nigeria is on auto-pilot under Tinubu's watch, yet he (Tinubu) wants to force himself on Nigerians again in 2027.

Timi Frank added: “Nigerians must on their part, prepare to reject Tinubu. It is the only patriotic thing to do as citizens. As citizens, we have a duty to reject a bad, clueless and rudderless leader and do all that is legally necessary to prevent him from returning to power.”

He urged the opposition leaders in the country to ensure that their coalition succeeds in defeating Tinubu in 2027.

"The coalition is in the best interest of Nigeria and Nigerians. I therefore appeal to the leaders of the coalition to put Nigeria and Nigerians first as their decision would help reshape the country and its future going forward,” he said.

Yesterday morning, I, Okah Ewah Edede, witnessed the strangest, most peculiar, most bizarre, and most absurd scene unfold. A band of merry warriors - staunch supporters of Senator Samuel Anyanwu - marched into the digital battlefield, drums of victory beating in their heads. Why? Because from warped kindergarten understanding, and from analysis of half-baked street ronu criers of APC Online Warriors Association (APC-OWA), that the Supreme Court had restored their champion to his lost throne.

Oh, the jubilation! The air was thick with celebratory emojis! Status updates read: "Anyanwu is back! PDP must obey! Joy is coming! Joy has come!" Twitter (or is it still X?) was on fire with memes of their hero reclaiming his stolen mandate. Some even added, in their excitement, "APC 2027 loading!" - a most curious footnote in what should have been a strictly PDP matter.

But alas! Tragedy struck.

For in their revelry, they failed to pause and ask a most crucial question: "Why is APC so happy about this judgment?"

Yes, dear reader, as the digital warriors basked in their premature victory, the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) emerged with the clarity of a priest interrupting a fake miracle crusade. In crisp, unmistakable terms, they declared:

"The Supreme Court has ruled that the matter of PDP’s National Secretary is an internal party affair. The PDP, in its wisdom, has resolved that Rt. Hon. SKE Udeh Okoye is the substantive National Secretary. Case closed. Please move along, nothing to see here."

Silence. A great hush fell over the battlefield. The APC urchins, who had been dancing at the supposed victory, suddenly lost their rhythm. Panic spread among Anyanwu’s foot soldiers. The air of celebration turned into the smell of burnt jollof rice.

Reality dawned, but it was too late. The political chameleons had already changed colors - too publicly, too quickly. Some tried to backtrack, awkwardly adjusting their narratives like a man caught in the act of stealing suya and claiming he was "just checking the temperature of the meat."

One particularly dedicated fellow even tried to argue, "Well, PDP is wrong about its own decision!" - a masterstroke of irony, considering the Supreme Court had just told everyone that PDP, and PDP alone, had the power to decide.

And so, dear reader, let us take from this tale a lesson in political self-awareness:

1. When your political rival is celebrating something on your behalf, take a moment to wonder why.
2. Before popping champagne, make sure you read the fine print.

The Fallout: Oil, Fuel, and Security

The implications of this decision are severe. Rivers State, being an oil-rich region, is the lifeblood of Nigeria’s crude oil production. The group lamented that "the Rivers State House of Assembly locking its gates against Governor Fubara is the height of humiliation, injustice and oppression on a sitting Governor in the history of democracy on Earth."

The group said that "even President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, when he was Governor of Lagos State never faced such humiliation even in the peak of any political crisis in the State under his watch" and that he definitely would not have accepted such treatment if he is to be in Governor Sim Fubara's shoes right now.

"Governor Sim Fubara is continually striving for the peace of Rivers State and the peace of Niger Delta but those who are hell-bent on seeing that Rivers State never knows peace are continually frustrating the Governor.

"We call on President Tinubu to call these persons disturbing the peace of Rivers State to order. These people disturbing the peace of Rivers State need to be called to order. Governor Sim Fubara is conceding alot of grounds for peace to reign in Rivers State. He cannot be subjected to humiliation, injustice and oppression in return. He is the Executive Governor of the State. He should be so respected.

"Once again, we call in Mr President to call on the other group to let peace reign in Rivers State. We can't have two Rivers State. We can only have one, the one being governed by His Excellency Sim Fubara.

A former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and political activist, Comrade Timi Frank, has called on the Supreme Court Chief Justice and the panel of Justices who heard the recent Rivers State case not to allow desperate attempts to tamper the original judgement.

Frank alleged that there were plots by some persons loyal to a former governor of Rivers State to import the issue of defection, which is still at the Appeal Court, into the recent judgement to undermine the ongoing cases.

Raising the alarm through a statement released to newsmen Tuesday in Abuja, Comrade Frank, who described the move as a "desperate lobby to smuggle into the Judgment an aspect which was not decided" accused some loyalists of a former Rivers State governor as brains behind the move.

"There is an ongoing plot to doctor the Supreme Court Judgement on Rivers and insert issues of defection that were not litigated by the parties by the pro-Wike group to help destroy the pending cases on defection before the Appeal Court and Federal High Court.

According to him, the issue of defection and legal battle to decide whether they were right or wrong is presently at the Appeal Court and Federal High Court, where Nigerians are waiting to see the judicial interpretation of the illegal act of cross carpeting at a time there was no division which was also backed by a court affidavit sworn to by the defected lawmakers.

"We are calling on the Supreme Court Chief Justice and the Panel of Justices who heard the case to ensure that the desperate attempts of the Wike group do not taint their Judgement and that the issue of defection, which is still at the Appeal Court, is not imported into the Judgement to undermine the ongoing cases. We are confident that the eminent jurist who delivered the Judgment knows the issues at stake and will not fail Nigerians by ensuring that a check is put on the Wike group's political madness and desperation, which is threatening constitutional democracy in Nigeria.

"I have just been reliably informed of a last minute desperate moves by Former Gov.Wike and his lawyers working with some elements in the Supreme Court to use the ongoing writing of the Recently delivered Judgement of the Supreme Court on the issue of Rivers LGA election and presentation of Budget to smuggle an item which was never the substantive matter that the Supreme Court decided and which was never part of what was read in the open Court, the issue of the legality of the decampment of the Wike loyal lawmakers from PDP to APC at a time there was no crisis.

"This desperate move, which will rubbish the integrity of the Supreme Court if not stopped by our respected jurist, will do irredeemable damage to our nation's apex and respected Court.

"The move is to insert over two pages of strange ruling on defection, knowing fully well that the illegal defection of the Wike group of lawmakers was not the subject matter before the Court, but rather on the issue of conduct of LGA election and Amaewhule's claim to speakership based on cases they filled even before their defection.

"What they want to push into the Judgment secretly was never part of the ruling of the lower courts or the Supreme Court. They are already celebrating, and my contact in the chamber of one of their lawyers has shown me a draft of what they are confident will be inserted today ahead of the release of the typed CTC of the Judgment today or tomorrow."

Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Comrade Timi Frank, on Saturday, condemned the Supreme Court judgement that ordered the withdrawal of monthly allocation to local governments in Rivers State.

Frank who rejected the judgment and described it as criminal usurpation of allocation rightly belonging to Rivers people, called on Nigerians and members of the international community to hold President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, responsible for any breach of peace and anarchy that may arise from the people’s anger over the gross miscarriage of justice.

Frank who made these assertions in a statement in Abuja, said: “From the illegal judgment which came out from the Supreme Court against the Rivers State Government, the whole world knows that this is the most fraudulent judgement ever delivered in the history of Nigeria.

“How can the Supreme Court give this kind of anti-truth, anti-God, inhuman, anti-justice and compromised judgement that is obviously meant to give the opposition APC the leeway to take over Rivers State?

“This is a clear indication that the Supreme Court under Justice Kekere-Ekun has no capacity to reform the judiciary but rather arresting justice and selling it to the highest bidder.

“Besides, it is clear that all the justices that heard this matter merely ruled in favour of their paymaster notwithstanding the interest of the people and the need for peace, stability and development of Rivers,

“However, we are not surprised by the ruling especially when we know that the judiciary is the biggest beneficiary from the Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike right from his days as a governor to being the Minister of the FCT.”

The political activist who is also the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) Ambassador to East Africa and the Middle East, added: “So any case that involves Wike’s interest in any part of Nigeria, they must definitely rule in his favour.

“But we warn the CJN to know that this judicial rascality, which is now the order of the day in the country under her watch, will set Nigeria on fire ans plunge the country into avoidable anarchy.

“We make bold to say that everybody knows that the suspended 27 lawmakers from River State, illegally defected from PDP to APC and despite this kangaroo judgement, they are no more members of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

“By giving order to withhold the local government allocation to Rivers State is to weaken and undermine the Siminalayi Fubara’s administration and using the order of court to starve the people of Rivers State that voted Fubara to power.”

He lamented that despite the judicial overreach, and attempt to foist illegality in Rivers State, President Tinubu sees noting wrong with the affront on democracy in Rivers and by extension, Nigeria despite purportedly claiming to be a defender of democracy.

He accused the present administration, led by Tinubu of plotting to take over Rivers State at all cost, by empowering the illegitimate and suspended lawmakers through the courts to impeach Fubara.

He however urged the Rivers people, despite the broad day judicial robbery, not to give up the struggle but to stand strong and mobilise necessary support for Fubara who is fighting to save Rivers’ common wealth and defend the nation’s constitution.

"Within one hundred days, Governor Monday Okpebholo has taken us ten steps backwards as a State. We can barely recognize Edo State anymore as within one hundred days of Governor Monday Okpebholo, Edo State is now an eye-sore and a shadow of itself.

"The economy of the State is in shambles. Legacy projects have been put on hold. Thugs are back on the street even doing tax collection work.

"The infrastructural development of the State is at its lowest level. The only thing Governor Monday Okpebholo and his team have achieved these past one hundred days in office is that they have taken Edo State backwards in every index.

"Under the former administration, Edo State was already one of the fastest developing economies in the country, but right now, the reverse is the case.

"I condemn in the strongest possible terms, the backwardness approach Governor Monday Okpebholo and his team are giving to the governance of Edo State. We deserve far much more than this.

"Yet again, I call on all citizens of Edo State to be calm and patient. Sorrow may last for a night but joy will surely come in the morning.

Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, on Monday, appealed to President Bola Tinubu to call the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, ex-Governor Gboyega Oyetola and his APC thugs to order in Osun State.

Frank in a statement in Abuja, said the call has become necessary to restore peace in Osun state following clashes between APC and PDP faithful in the state over control of local government areas in which many lives have reportedly been lost.

Violence erupted on Monday in Osun State as the battle for the control of the local government secretariats between the PDP and the APC turned bloody.

A Court of Appeal judgment was interpreted differently by the APC and the PDP.

Adeleke and Oyetola, who is the  Minister of Marine and Blue Economy have strongly disagreed over the alleged reinstatement verdict of the Court of Appeal.

Governor Adeleke had insisted that the sacked council chairmen cannot return to office, citing security reasons.

However, Oyetola said the Appeal Court judgment would be implemented through the instruments of law.

He added that the council executives should resume yesterday.

Frank said: “Intelligence at our disposal has revealed that the present strategy and plan by Oyetola is to make the state ungovernable for Governor Ademola Adeleke, so they can hide under the guise of crisis in the state to declare a state of emergency in Osun State.

He lamented that following the crises orchestrated by Oyetola and his APC thugs, the National Secretary of the APC, Dr Ajibola Basiru, who is from Osun State, had on live television on Monday evening urged the Federal Government to declare a state of emergency in the state to curtail further violence.

He quoted Basiru to have said that: “I will suggest that perhaps it will be necessary for the Federal Government to declare a state of emergency. It has gotten to that stage where hapless people coming from farms are attacked by uncontrollable PDP thugs.”

Frank said: “Their major target is to declare a state of emergency because they know that if the elections are allowed to hold today, Governor Adeleke will still win.

“So they want to abort his second term through crisis and violence to pave the way for the declaration of a state of emergency.

“The President is hereby called upon to break his silence in spite of the fact that Osun is his State of Origin and home town but the state is being ruled by the PDP and Governor Adedeké is the people's choice.

“Therefore, we are using this medium to let him know that if the present crisis is allowed to degenerate beyond what has already happened, both Oyetola and himself, as the Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria would be held responsible.

“Presently, Oyetola is using Federal Might to engineer evil and anarchy in Osun State and this nonsense must stop with all urgency.”

Frank who is the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP), Ambassador to East Africa and the Middle East, called on all well-meaning Nigerians to speak up to save the nation’s democracy “because what is happening in Osun state is sheer impunity, dictatorship and arrogance on the part of the APC that is trying to capture every part of the country at all cost - not through the ballot but through impunity and criminality.

“We call on the people of Osun to stand strongly with Governor Adeleke in the face of this aggression being fueled by Oyetola and the APC.

“They must not be intimidated but resist the rascality of federal might that the ex-Governor and his party are using the way they have always done.

COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE END OF THE MEETING OF NATIONAL WORKING COMMITTEE (NWC) MEMBERS OF SOUTH EAST WITH STATEHOLDERS FROM THE SOUTH EAST ZONE HELD ON TUESDAY, THE 28TH DAY OF JANUARY, 2025 AT THE NEC HALL OF THE PDP NATIONAL SECRETARIAT, FCT, ABUJA

BACKGROUND:
1. On the 9th day of October, 2024, the National Working Committee (NWC) issued a timetable for the conduct of Zonal Congress in the Southeast Zone of the Peoples Democratic Party.

2. On the 22nd day of January, 2025, the Zonal Secretary, South East of the Peoples Democratic Party, Hon. Chief James Ugwu issued a notice, without an agenda, for the holding of a Zonal Executive Committee (ZEC) meeting at Government House, Enugu on the 24th day of January, 2025.


3. In reaction to the said notice of the Zonal Secretary, the South East Legal Adviser of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ukpai Ukairo Esq. wrote a legal opinion, concerning the status of the said notice of the Zonal Secretary, which was passed to relevant officers of the PDP at different levels and therein concluded thus:

(1) Chief/Dr. Ali Odefa is no longer a member of the Peoples Democratic Party and should not be found in the circle of any official role within PDP.

(2) Accordingly, he should not have any role or play any part in any form or manner with concerning the affairs of the PDP.

(3) By Article 27(3) of the Constitution of the Peoples Democratic Party the Zonal Executive Committee can only be summoned at the instance of the National Vice Chairman. In consideration of the fact that there is no National Vice Chairman in office the Zonal Executive Committee Meeting of the South East fixed for the 24th January, 2025 cannot be a lawful meeting of the organ of the party.

4. Arising from the foretasted legal opinion, the members of the Zonal Working Committee (ZWC) from Abia, Imo and Anambra States and several statutory members of the Zonal Working Committee ignored the notice of meeting and consequently boycotted the meeting.

5. However, based on deception and suppression of facts by Chief/Dr. Ali Odefa, there was a meeting at Enugu State Government House on the said 24th January, 2025 which took decisions concerning the affairs of the Peoples Democratic Party regarding the Zonal Congress of the PDP and at the said meeting unlawfully recognized Hon. Ude Okoye, as National Secretary of the PDP in utter contempt of the binding order of stay of execution of the judgment they relied on.

6. The stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party, South East, being conscious of the consequences of the status of the said meeting at Enugu State Government House, and determined not to allow a derailment of the smooth and lawful administration of the affairs of the PDP in the South East came together to discuss on-going developments in PDP, South East with a view to charting a new course founded on law and inclusiveness.

7. As part of the briefings of developments in the PDP South East, was that the Congresses held in Ebonyi and Anambra States were nullified by Courts and that the National Legal Adviser had in accordance with his functions advised due compliance with the judgment and accordingly the relevant organ of the party shall proceed to conduct fresh congresses for the states.

8. In addition, there was a review of the events surrounding the orchestrated attempts to illegally remove the National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party.


RESOLUTIONS:

(1) That the said meeting held on Friday, the 24th January, 2025 at Government House, Enugu, on the basis of the said notice of the Zonal Secretary was not a meeting of the structure of the Peoples Democratic Party in the Constitution arising from the following:

(a) There was no Zonal Working Committee (ZWC) preceding the Zonal Executive Committee (ZEC) Meeting and accordingly no memorandum was produced for adoption by the ZEC Meeting as required by Article 27(7) of the PDP Constitution.

(b) There was no proper summoning of the ZEC Meeting because there is no person who lawfully summoned the meeting and presided over same in that:

(i) Chief/Dr. Ali Odefa was a member of Oguduokwor Ward in Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State Chapter of the PDP.

(ii) Arising from multiple breaches of the Constitution by Chief/Dr Ali Odefa the Ward, in accordance with the constitution and settled political norms, initiated disciplinary measures against him and suspended him.

(iii) In the process of concluding the disciplinary procedure the Ward discovered the challenge posed by Articles 57(7) and 59(3) of the Constitution of the Party and sought legal intervention.

(iv) The Federal High Court in SUIT NO: FHC/ A1/CS/2024 nullified the said Articles of the Constitution and upheld the suspension Chief/Dr. Ali Odefa thereby paving way for the continuation and conclusion of the disciplinary procedure.

(v) Accordingly, the disciplinary procedure was, within the period of suspension concluded, in accordance with the rules of natural justice, and he was expelled from the PDP.

(vi) As at today he has not appealed against the decision of a lawful arm of the party and the decision of the Federal High Court was never and has not been stayed.

(2) The purported zoning of South East offices which allegedly was proposed and adopted at the said meeting is also not a decision of an official structure of the Peoples Democratic Party arising from the absence of Pre-ZEC Meeting of the Zone, the legal incapacity of the said Chief/Dr. Ali Odefa and the participation of Ebonyi and Anambra States SWC Members as delegates in the meeting at Government House, Enugu though their Congresses had been nullified by the court.

(3) The recognition of the Hon. Udo Okoye, as the National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, is hereby condemned being an exercise that is a breach of the Constitution and an afront to the rule of law because de facto and de jure the National Secretary of the of the Peoples Democratic Party is His Excellency Sen. Sam Anyanwu.

(4) In view of the above we recommend that the relevant lawful organs of the Peoples Democratic Party proceed immediately to ensure that the affairs of the South East Zone of the PDP is managed in accordance with the relevant sections of the Constitution of the PDP and upon this pedestal the appointment of Hon. Chidiebere Egwu Goodluck as successor to Chief Dr. Ali Odefa is hereby ratified to ensure that the Zonal Working Committee would fully be constituted to administer the affairs of the PDP, South East in accordance with the Constitution of the Peoples Democratic Party.

(5) Based on the advice of the National Legal Adviser which is founded on nullification of the congresses in Anambra and Ebonyi States the relevant organs of the party shall immediately ensure that fresh congresses are held in accordance with the the Electoral Act and Constitution of the Peoples Democratic Party.

(6) Arising from a review of events surrounding the assault on the office of the National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party we unequivocally pass a vote of confidence on the National Secretary based on our informed conviction that he is discharging his duties in accordance with best practices in party administration.

It was bewildering to witness a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria seemingly unaware that ministries are coordinating entities overseeing agencies under them.

Despite her barrage of misplaced accusations, the minister responded with composure and tact. He calmly reminded her that the budget in question predates his tenure and adheres to established statutory provisions, emphasizing that nothing presented was new—it was simply an age-old budget framework.

Senator Natasha Akpoti’s repeated missteps are becoming increasingly embarrassing, not only to the constituents she represents but also to the entire Senate. She seems more interested in courting controversy and seeking cheap attention than in making meaningful legislative contributions. Her fixation on theatrics over substance has overshadowed her potential to effect change.

Rather than indulging in unnecessary grandstanding, it would serve her well to focus on mastering the intricacies of legislative responsibilities. The Senate is not a stage for antagonizing the executive or turning serious national issues into dramatic spectacles. Instead, it is a platform for collaborative governance, one that requires poise, knowledge, and decorum.

If Senator Natasha is genuinely committed to the steel industry’s revival, she should rally behind the Minister of Steel Development, supporting initiatives that will bring Nigeria’s steel sector back to life. The task at hand is far too critical to be reduced to a sideshow.

Natasha, it’s time to trade the theatrics for impact. Join the cruise of progress, not drama.

A nascent socio-political group, Democrats for Justice, Equity and Fairness (DJEF) has raised alarm over insidious plots to tarnish the image of the immediate past Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel.

The DJEF in a statement signed by its publicity secretary, Dr John Hassan, and made available to newsmen in Abuja, said “there are devious plots being hatched by perceived enemies of the former governor to rubbish his achievements and bring his personality to a public odium".

The group noted that those behind these callous schemes have hired nebulous groups to write frivolous petitions to anti-corruption bodies making unfounded allegations against former Governor Emmanuel.

The DJEF stressed that it could not have been a mere coincidence that a wave of media attacks is being hauled at Elder Emmanuel about the same time when a purported joint account committee of the National Assembly has been created to conduct investigations into projects that were appropriated for and legislatively passed by the State House of Assembly.

It described the investigation by the said National Assembly committee as an "unconstitutional scheme fraudulently designed and tailored as a witch-hunt to achieve a pre-determined result against perceived enemies of some high placed persons in the National Assembly (See bromides).

“For the record, the Emmanuel Administration left behind audited accounts of every money spent, on every single projects, ministry by ministry, in fully bounded formats for emphasis and reference purposes,” the DJEF further stated.

According to the group, "this illegitimate pattern of using the privileges of office to engage in personal squabbles with perceived enemies is totally undemocratic and constitute an abuse of office.

"At this critical time in our national history, the National Assembly ought to lead a course of action that will prosper our nation and not being used to harrass, intimidate and discredit innocent Nigerians".

The group cautioned against such and urged the National Assembly not to allow itself to be used as instruments of intimidation against Nigerians, especially individuals that have meritoriously served the nation in various capacities.

Ajaokuta Federal Lawmaker Inspects Upake, Apamira, and Eganyi Roads

The House of Representatives member representing Ajaokuta Federal Constituency, Hon. Sanni Egidi Abdulraheem, in the early hours of today, conducted an inspection of several key roads in the area, accompanied by the Coordinator of the Nigeria Erosion and Water Management Project (NEWMAP) agency.

The inspection began at Adogo, the headquarters of Ajaokuta, where the Eganyi feeder road, which spans across 11 out of the 14 wards in Ajaokuta, was thoroughly assessed to determine the necessary interventions required for its repair.

Hon. Abdulraheem also visited Upake Road and proceeded to the Apamira Bridge, where discussions were held with engineers regarding the design and construction plans for the bridge, particularly concerning the heavy river flow experienced during the rainy season.

The Ajaokuta lawmaker expressed his commitment to collaborate with state agencies, the World Bank, and his office to provide immediate palliatives and initiate the construction and rehabilitation of the roads in Ajaokuta soon.

…Urges FCT minister to undergo medical examination

Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, on Tuesday, called on the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr. Nyesom Wike, to stop insulting elders if he hopes to attain similar status someday.

He also called on the former governor of Rivers state, to visit a health facility to ascertain his current mental health.

Frank, according to a statement in Abuja, reacted to Wike’s recent barrage of attacks against his former political allies turned foes, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Governor of Rivers State Siminalayi Fubara, former Governor of Rivers State, Dr. Peter Odili, and the 2023 Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi.

He said the call has become necessary to enable Wike regain his sense of decorum and to treat those deserving of respect with their due irrespective of political differences.

Frank said: “Wike needs thorough soul searching, character and mental re-examination. Acts of gross disrespect should not be hidden behind political exigencies.

“Because he looks older than his age should not make him believe he is in the same age bracket with Peter Odili, Uche Secondus and others he now takes pleasure in insulting.

“No normal and sensible person would insult elders like Wike has done except they are under the influence of intoxicants or other harmful psychotropic substances.

“We know Wike is praying to attain age 80 and above someday but if he doesn’t stop his current disdain, disregard and disrespect for those who are older than him, one day he will reap what he has sown.

“We advise him stop the intake of intoxicants including his 40-year old Whisky and to urgently seek medical attention to determine if he's doing these things in his right senses or under any influence whatsoever.”

Frank who is the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) Ambassador to East Africa and the Middle East, also, urged Wike to leave the people of Rivers State alone, having failed in his efforts to make the state ungovernable “because since his exit as governor, he has not given Governor Fubara a breathing space thereby stifling the development of the state.”

“We further advise Wike to engage the services of a speech therapist to train him in the art of modern public speaking in order to prevent him from being garrulous and loquacious.

“Otherwise, President Tinubu would soon be his next for insult the moment he feels he is no longer benefiting from him, the same way he has been insulting some benefactors that helped him to rise to the level he is in life today, like Peter Odili, ex-President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife and Rotimi Amaechi.”

Youth advocate, Enantomhen Andrew on Wednesday wished all Edo indigenes happy new year on the occasion of the new year 2025.

Furthermore, he called on them to join him in praying "that the calamity that INEC brought to Edo State will come to an end in the next five months."

"Edo State has become a laughing stock and a disgrace amongst other States since the selection of the INEC Governor. The insecurity that APC promised Edo people has been materialised, the State is now backward, investors are running out of the State, our brothers and sisters are running out of the State, since INEC selected this Governor for us, but one thing I can assure you all my brothers and sisters is that this Pharaoh and dictator you see today, you shall see him no more in few months time," Andrew Enantomhen further said.

Andrew Enantomhen further encouraged the people of Edo State not to relent in their prayers for the State.

Andrew Enantomhen further said "I want to use this medium to send a note of warning to the INEC-selected Governor to desist from destroying the democratically elected Local Government structure in the State."

"Since your selection as Governor, Edo state have lost peace, you have destroyed our institution within two months of your selection," Andrew Enantomhen said to the Governor.

"I encourage Monday to reflect on his decision and policies before embarking on them," Andrew Enantomhen further counselled.
