OP is right, you can't be in the southwest an be rating ACs. Go to any par of the north where day temperture reaches 40⁰c and am sure it's one of the reasons why Honda accords are more valued. Any Honda accord model you lay hands on, especially those from 2003 upwards have ACs as cold as Siberia whether you are in kano or Dubai. Toyotas are not that great in that area when under intense heat except the more modern ones which I don't know much about |

Check your engine dust filter too and hope you use the right engine oil |
joungblood:I did my own car papers by November 2019 because I bought a registered car and everything cost 70k including new Lagos plate. You need to do everything afresh because all documents must now carry your name and that involves change of ownership from police and court but the person who did mine handled everything. It can go les than that amount but you can never tell when your documents will be ready so it's wise to add something and get it within a week or two |

Young man, get a good radiator cover and start from there, if it continues then find the solution to whatever is then the case. Am talking from experience. This thing don punish me before. When a radiator cover is bad, it can no longer bear the pressure of the hot water from the radiator and the result could be what you are seeing. Cover is just around 500. Try out like 3 different covers but ensure they bear the same number as your own and if the number is no longer on it, make sure it is the same thing. I don talk my own before they go open account for your head. Lol |
Please ignore what any mechanic will tell you concerning removing your car thermostat. I have had that same issue with my Honda civic that I drove for five years with thermostat and had no overheating problem but one night, I was coming home late and drove into an iron rod which punctured my radiator and I had to change it to a new one then the problem started. Whenever I drive the car beyond 20km, It begins to gush out water like us then my mechanic started pestering me to remove the thermostat but I refused. I was told that the problem could be that the radiator cover is bad. I bought two used radiator covers but it continued then I went to a dealer who selected a good cover for me, behold the problem that was looking like a spiritual one ended that day. The car was driven from Lagos to kano and nothing happened. My friend just ty and get a good cover and thank me later. Good luck |
Thank y'all. I hv learnt a lot from this post. I will stick to my user manual. |
Thanks to everyone here. I remain grateful to everyone who advised. Before I even posted this topic, I knew 20w50 cannot go well with engine meant to use 5w20. I wanted to know if only due to the nearness of the two oils (5w20 and 5w30), one can serve the purpose of the other. Thank you all. You all educated me. |
Am finding it difficult to get the recommended 5w20 for my 2003 Honda accord. It has a mileage of almost 159k. Will it be a good idea to switch to mobil 5w30 that is always readily available? Thank you in anticipation |
Any car that cannot take abuse is not suitable for Nigerian roads and Nigerians because an average Nigerian has very poor maintenance culture! And we are proud of poor maintenance culture. Chai |
Well you will be forgiven in your sterotypical thought pattern since you have not bought a car or even used a Honda, brand. Honda goes head to head in competition with the toyotas in the US and Canada. Go and find out. They build great engines. The only thing to note is that Honda dont take abuse. Give it the right parts and fluid and you are good to go. Some of the models were recalled for particular factory errors. (Transmission).. The accord and civic of 2000 to 2003 models suffered transmission issues. Toyota also had several recalls, more than Honda sef. So dont base your opinion on hearsay. Do research and get hard facts and evidence. Uncle Tom has been rocking his baby boy since 2008 and it is still in pristine condition. The man is legendary for maintaining cars sha. The bull dog is also rugged. The op probably bought an abused one, a lemon or he was terrible at maintenance.[/quote] Well you just said my mind. Some people just blindly come out of their hiding and start saying what they don't know. I drove a 1997 honda civic as my first car for 6 years and then sold it in perfect condition and added money to buy a 2004 accord. For the six years it was fun with the ride and for goodness sake you cannot compare the comfort of a Honda car to it equivalent Toyota I.e rod vs big for nothing as they are called. Ignorance is a disease truly

I mistakingly drove into an iron rod which leaked busted my Radiator open, ever since that time, the new one I bought keep pushing coolant into the white plastic reservoir instead of taking from it. I bought a brand new radiator and it continued then I went ahead to buy a tokumbo but it doesn't stop. When the reservoir gets filled up, it begins to overflow. Pls what can anyone advice me to save this situation? Thank you in anticipation for your sincere advise |

Hi guys. EoD is an ear tingling name any day anytime. Am planning on getting a told of it b4 March but my fear is that now I can't afford the 05 model so am opting for 03 but I hv read about the transmission of the 03/04 not being as rugged as the 05. What can this house advice me to do, wait until am able to gather enough for 05 0r go ahead? The comfort is irresistible if I must say. I only shopped on chemical and jiji and noticed that 05 cost 1.55m on the average and 03 for 1.4m but I think when I hit the field for physical check I might get it less not sure. Pls your kind advise is needed auto geniuses |
I have a 1998 Honda Civic. When I start the car, the AC won't come on until I drive for like 4 minutes when the engine is a bit hot then it will start working. The AC technician said he doesn't know what the problem is. Can anyone help out? |
