Sierra Leone’s President Julius Maada Bio has sacked all political appointees at the country’s foreign missions including ambassadors and information attachés. He has also retired all workers in the public service who have attained the age of 60, except those under special employment approved by parliament.
The sackings were contained in an executive order President Maada Bio issued on Wednesday, in which he announced a wide range of measures to reduce financial waste. He also embargoed recruitments in the public service.
Here are the measures announced on Wednesday:
*With immediate effect, purchase of vehicles by all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) and public corporations has been banned until a new Fleet Management Policy is put in place.
*Payment for fuel, telephone and internet services to public servants in Ministries, Departments and Agencies for their residences are suspended with immediate effect pending a new benefit policy.
*All commitments by MDAs relating to overseas travel including cost of tickets should be within their approved budgets and must be cleared with the Ministry of Finance to ensure they are cost-effective and within budgetary limits.
*In line with Section 23 of the Bank of Sierra Leone Act 2011, prices for contracts shall be quoted and payable only in the local currency (Leone). All existing contracts already quoted in foreign currency shall therefore be paid in Leones.
*All new contracts by MDAs and public corporations should be cleared by the Ministry of Finance to ensure they do not constitute a financial risk to the national budget.
The executive order came as parliamentarians went into fisticuffs on Wednesday after they were sworn-in. Members of Sierra Leone’s opposition All People’s Congress walked out of parliament after police escorted at least 15 of their colleagues from the chamber for disrupting proceedings. The new parliament elected Abass Bundu of the ruling Sierra Leone’s People’s Party as speaker despite the absences.
He received 71 votes, less than half of the 146 members. Local AYV Television said four members of a third party abstained from voting to protest police removing elected officials from parliament. Julius Maada Bio of the Sierra Leone’s People’s Party was declared president April 4. Anybody can suspect that an offense is committed by a suspect. Court of competant jurisdiction is their to convict or acquit a suspect. Judges are not there to suspect criminals. As for a fugitive, he definitely is a fugitive who is running away from justice. That is why he has to be restrained with handcuffs now. Please go to school.

police can only take someone to their various places, but the person that they arrested hasn't been declared a criminal since in Dino's case, they haven't any form of weapons in his hands. it's only court of competent jurisprudence that do declare some that's guilty or not guilty and not the police. on this case, Dino melaye is still not guilty of the crime they are robbing him with. Dino melaye is not guilty as I speak. he's just only doing that to stop the police invasion in his house.

if you have been following the news from the onset, there was a court injunction from Abuja court that stop the proceedings from lokoja high court, so the case has been transferred to Abuja high court. but the police and the SARs aren't not seeing It that way due to the order from the federal government and the states government directives to arrest Dino melaye yesterday . Dino melaye only adopt that method to jump down from the hilux vehicle in order to stop the arrest yesterday. he only apply that wisdom.
