Google Nigeria has announced plans to reach more than 10 million Nigerians with free Internet access in five cities.

According to the global content provider, the Wi-Fi will be available in 200 Google stations in Lagos, Kaduna, Port Harcourt, Ibadan and Abuja by 2019.

This was made known on Thursday at the second Google for Nigeria event in Lagos, where the company announced updates on its Go products suites such as Google Go, YouTube Go, Google Maps Go and Android Go.

Speaking at the unveiling of the Google stations, the Google Nigeria Country Director, Juliet Ehimuan-Chiazor, said the initiative would address affordability and access to data as well as broadband penetration.

She stated that the free Wi-Fi was rolled out in partnership with an Internet Service Provider with extensive fibre network, 21st Century, adding that the company was open to partnerships with other ISPs and telcos.

The Director, Army Public Relations, Brig. Gen. Sani Usman, has maintained that family of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu knows where Kanu is hiding.

Usman urged Nigerians to ask the younger brother and lawyer to the IPOB leader, Ifeanyi Ejiofor of Kanu’s whereabouts.The Army spokesman also said Kanu was somebody without any means of livelihood, but used “propaganda” to attract public sympathy.

Speaking in Abuja, while rounding off a two-day media conference on the military’s enhancement of human rights, Usman said Kanu’s followers were in a “one-chance vehicle.”

According to the Zambian Observer, Charles Obong, 52, who worked as a senior personnel officer in the Ministry of Public Service in Uganda from 2006 to 2016, reportedly wanted to use the cash to redeem his soul before God.

Obong’s body was reportedly buried with K51, 300.

Obong died recently after a long illness and was buried at his ancestral home in a metallic coffin estimated to have cost Shs20m.

David Elic said his brother-in-law had left behind a will, dictating that when he died, his wife Margaret should put huge sums of money in his coffin.

He planned to give the money to God to forgive his sins and save him from hell.

But relatives and local leaders who attended the deceased’s send-off said the will didn’t say what sins Obong wanted to make amends for.

He had worked at the Public Service ministry, which has been engulfed in pension scam scandal which cost the government about Shs257bn. The money was stolen by senior government officials.

The coffin was exhumed last weekend and the money taken out.

Robert Nababan, a resident of the Indagiri Hulu regency of Riau, is currently receiving treatment in a hospital after claiming that he wrestled with the gigantic snake.

He only suffered deep cuts on his left arm and fingers from the python’s bite, as well as exhaustion.

Speaking to reporters, Robert said that he was driving home on his motorcycle from his job as a security guard at a palm oil plantation near his village on Saturday evening.

He then came across two pedestrians who wanted to cross the road but stopped in their tracks when they saw the python lying in the middle of the road.

“I tried to catch it (the python). It bit my arm, and we wrestled for a while,” Robert said, as quoted by Detik today.

Ifeanyi Ejiofor, lead counsel of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has disclosed his last conversation with Nnamdi Kanu.

Ejiofor also lamented that he has not been able to reach Kanu since the military stormed his Afara-Ukwu, Umuahia, Abia State home.

The lawyer, in a chat wit Sun, recalled that he got a call from Kanu on 14th September that army personnel were shooting sporadically around his house.

“I quickly issued a statement which was widely published on the social media alerting the world of what was going on; that my client was under siege as the military was shooting for over 40 minutes trying to gain access into the house.

“He called me again that they were at the gate shooting to gain access, I asked him to remain inside, while I continued to let the world know. That was our last communication and I never heard from him again after the attack. And the rest is now story.”

On the fate of the sureties who are expected to produce the IPOB leader in court, Ejiofor said they cannot be touched “because the circumstance that presented itself is such that had gone beyond the sureties’ control.

“In legal parlance, it’s called force majeure. It’s not a situation they would be able to control. The court is a human being; it can listen to our application. If at all this incident never took place and by tomorrow we start looking for Nnamdi Kanu, they will be told to go and produce him.

“But in this case, Nnamdi Kanu had been visible; moving around, going places, meeting people and was very certain of coming to Abuja before now to face trial, so, people who attacked him, killed people in his house, wounded people and arrested people, should be in a position to show us where he is.

“It now lies with the army; it’s out of the sureties hands, so they cannot be held liable.

“I am in communication with the sureties. They don’t have cause to express fears, because it’s not within their control. They don’t know anything about what happened. The people that should be held responsible are the military and the Federal Government; simple!

“I believe if at all they wanted to arrest him, they would have extended invitation to him saying we want you at this period to interrogate you; there is allegation of this and that offence, be it police, army or the DSS. But such thing never took place. So, what informed their going to his place to shoot and kill?”

Asked if he thinks security agencies would produce Kanu on October 17 in court, Ejiofor responded: “Forget about the lies they’ve been telling; they must produce him. If they have killed my client; they should come and tell the court. Then we will now know what to do, because he has to be given befitting burial if at all such thing happened. But God forbid!”

The remnants of IPOB youths today took to the streets to demand the immediate appearance of their Supreme leader , Nnamdi Kanu, who had gone into hiding since the military started their annual exercise code named Egwu Eke 2.

According to an eye witness who monitored the protest, the visibly angry youths, showed their displeasure towards Kanu for his act of cowardice in the face of the heat from the Zoo’s Army, with some of them carrying placards with inscriptions; Resume Or Resign; OurMumuDonDo: We No go Gree etc..

The billionaire Kidnapper, Chukwudemeje George Onwuamadike, alias Evans, has stated that he is now a born again Christian, and now reads the book of Lamentations.

Two Traffic Wardens, Musa Muktari and Shuaibu Suleman attached to Wuse Police Division, FCT Abuja Command have been dismissed from service with over involvement in corrupt practice after an Orderly Room trial at the Provost Department, Force Headquarters Abuja.
Both wardens were found guilty of abuse of office, soliciting and receiving a bribe contrary to Paragraph C sub (IV), (VI) and (II) of the 1st Schedule of the Police Act and Regulation CAP 370 of 1990 and were consequetly dismissed.
The dismissal of the traffic wardens followed a complaint lodged against them by a motorist at the Public Complaint Rapid Response Unit (PCRRU) Force Headquarters, Abuja on 30 May.
ACP Abayomi Shogunle, the head of the PCRRU, in a statement said the motorist had on 30 May reported that while driving his vehicle in the afternoon of the previous day along Wuse market road, he was accosted by the two traffic wardens who accused him of “beating traffic light” despite the fact that he did not.
The motorists added that the wardens started demanding for bribe before they will allow him go and they subsequently led him to an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) not far from the scene where he was forced to make a withdrawal of N15, 000 from his account which he gave to them.
He also stated that that one of the wardens forgot his mobile phone in his car.
Shogunle added that the PCRRU immediately launched an investigation on getting the complaint.
The investigation, he said, led to the identification and arrest of both traffic wardens while the sum of N15,000 extorted from the complainant was recovered from them (N7,500 each as money was already shared).
“Both wardens were subsequently defaulted and referred to the Force Provost Marshal FHQ Abuja for Orderly Room trial [photo attached] during which all witnesses were called, exhibits were presented and defaulters (both wardens) heard.
“The Adjudicating officer found both defaulters guilty as charged and recommended punishment of dismissal from service.
“The orderly room proceeding has been reviewed by the appropriate NPF authority and the punishment approved with immediate effect. Traffic warden uniforms, ID cards and all police accoutrements issued to the men have been retrieved and all other dismissal procedure completed.
“The complainant has also been handed back his N15, 000 with an apology from the PCRRU.
“The visibly delighted man while collecting his money said “I never thought this could happen in this country; the officers punished and my money returned to me. God bless the IG, I will go out and spread the news about PCRRU to everyone”.
Shogunle added that the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Ibrahim Idris has commended the complainant for exposing this unprofessional and unacceptable conduct of these traffic wardens, he also stated that “we will not allow corrupt practices to continue”.
