A very close aide of President Muhammadu Buhari, who is alleged to be the head of the cabals in the Presidency was involved in a “shouting match” with a top Federal Government official over the sudden “disengagement” of some aides of the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo.. Ogbeta.ng gathered that the affected aides were sacked “outside the directive” of Buhari who is currently on a private visit in London. Recall that reports have it that Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari allegedly relieved some aides attached to Osinbajo in a bid to reduce the influence of the Vice President. The current move being masterminded by an alleged top aide of the President was a knee-jerk reaction to weekend’s perceived vote of confidence passed on the embattled Vice President by the Emir of Daura, Alhaji Umar Faruk Umar. An informed source hinted that while the President had already “personally approved the appointment of all the 35 aides reportedly disengaged, he had also instructed their deployment to other ministries as part of a reorganization of the presidency proposed to him by the same top aide, who is seen to be engaging Osinbajo in a power tussle. “While the Emir of Daura, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Umar Faruk Umar had spoken so highly of Osinbajo at the installation ceremony of the President’s cousin, Musa Haro as the new Dan-Madamin of Daura last Saturday, the top aide to the President was present and was pissed. . “The Emir’s effusive praise of Osinbajo at the event on his loyalty to the president and commitment to project Nigeria was seen as a deliberate attempt by the Emir to smite the so-called head of Aso Villa cabal and rubbish all they have been doing to curtail and humiliate the VP in an attempt to orchestrate a tussle between the President and his Vice,” the source said. The source stated that Buhari had approved Osinbajo’s aides to stay in the Presidential Villa and those to be posted to Ministries before travelling out of Nigeria. “The President had already approved all the aides of the VP and stipulated those to be in the villa, and those to be in the ministries. But by Monday, two days after the Emir of Daura praised the Vice President’s loyalty and service, the top aide, behind this whole problem ensured that all the aides deployed to the ministries should be disengaged. “He, however, exempted those sent to the new ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development,” he said. It was also learnt that the top government functionary was told it was the President who made the decision to relieve the aides, thereby, causing confusion and raising doubts about such a claim, since it was the same President that approved all the presidential aides in the office of the Vice President before traveling. Checks, however, revealed that official correspondence from the President’s office specified that Buhari had approved all his deployments only a few weeks ago. However, Osinbajo’s aides were forcefully fired after a shouting march between the highly placed Federal Government official and Buhari’s senior aide on claims that “it was what the President wanted,” even as there was no proof to such a claim. Speaking with DAILY POST last night, another informed source said: “It was the public admonition by the Emir that infuriated the cabal. The buzz within government circle now is how an aide could possibly pervert a presidential decision that is written in black and white.” Sources close to the President also expressed concern that this development with the news of the alleged sack of some of the Vice President’s aides might worry Buhari who had warned that some of the recent changes that affected Osinbajo’s role are not misunderstood or used to embarrass him, ( the President), in the perception of the Nigerian public. The evil father who hanged his four children after his wife asked him for a divorce has been handed four life sentences in prison . Sibusiso Mpungose, 44, pleaded guilty to murdering his children Kuhlekonke, 4, Khwezi, 6, Siphesihle, 10, and 17-year-old step-daughter Ayakha Jiyane. He is likely to die behind bars after the verdict was given by Judge Sharmaine Balton at the KwaZulu-Natal High Court in the city of Pietermaritzburg in the South African province of KwaZulu-Natal. The father had pleaded guilty to the murders which occurred just a few days after his wife Xolisile served him with divorce papers. He told the court that he had murdered the children as he was convinced his wife was having an affair. He had reportedly waited for her to leave the house to go to work to commit the brutal crimes. The three youngest victims were hanged with clothing while the fourth, his step-daughter, was strangled to death in a secluded area. Local media report the eldest child had told her friends "if anything happens just know I was kidnapped or something has happened to me" as she left school with her stepfather the day he killed her. Her step-siblings were found hanging in their house that day. The children's mother reportedly found the three hanging victims in her home. Two of them were hanging from a window burglar bar and one in their mother's room. Judge Balton said in sentencing that the murders were "brutal and senseless". The killer said he had planned to take his own life after the murders by jumping off a bridge but he never did so. Source>>http://www.ogbeta.ng/2019/11/dad-who-hanged-his-four-children-when.html

The Impeached Deputy Governor of Kogi, Simon Achuba has sued Governor Yahaya Bello and the Attorney General, alleging among others, the non-payment of his salary and allowances. In the suit marked: NICN/ABJ/244/2019 filed before the National Industrial Court in Abuja, Achuba wants the court to declare among others, that he is “entitled to all the rights and privileges of the Office of the Deputy Governor of Kogi State of Nigeria including the prompt payment of all his travel allowances, monthly impress, security votes and statutory allocations.” He accused Bello and the AG of unlawfully withholding his salary and his other entitlements, which are all captured in the 2019 budget already passed by the state’s House of Assembly. Achuba stated that his decision to resort to court action was informed by the defendants’ refusal to pay him despite repeated demands by his lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN), who had written to them on the issue. He said beside his salary, security votes, funds for the maintenance of his house, lodge and offices among others, there are other items of expenditure, which his office is entitled to under the appropriation laws of Kogi State, to include burial expenses, motor vehicle fuel cost, cooking gas, motor cycle/bicycle, public relations reporters cassettes recorders, purchase of rain boot, printing of file jackets, purchase of mower, cutlasses and shovels. In his statement of claim, Achuba stated that his “security vote in the sum of N10million per-month has remained unpaid since April 2018 to August 2019 amounting to the total sum of N180m.” He added that the monthly impress to his office in the sum of N18,224, 000 was last paid to the claimant in March 2018, now amounting to N328,032.000.00 as monthly impress due to the Claimant for the months of April 2018 August 2019. Achuba is praying the court to order the defendants to pay him N911,572,758.00 being his travel allowances, monthly impress, security votes, and other statutory allocations due to his office as the Deputy Governor of Kogi State. The Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Mohammed Adamu, has deployed additional 35,000 policemen to Kogi State to ensure “visibility policing ” of lives and property before and during the November 16 governorship election holding in the state. Kayode Ayilara, the Assistant Commissioner of police in charge of operation in the state announced this in Lokoja on Wednesday, NAN reports. The police chief disclosed this while responding to concern raised about the neutrality of the police in the coming election at an event organised by a non-governmental organisation, ‘Search For Common Ground’. He said that the deployed policemen will arrive the state on Nov. 11, saying that they are coming from Abuja and other states. Ayilara said that armed policemen will also be positioned at identified strategic areas in the state to ensure quick response to any emergency. He said that four policemen will be deployed to each of the 2,548 polling units in the state, assuring citizens of police neutrality in their conduct before and during the election. An official of the NGO, Mrs Lola Memedu, had earlier in a presentation, expressed worry over the steady rise in tension in the state ahead of the election. Memedu said that the group through its Electoral Empowerment of Civil Society Project (EECSP), had observed cases of violence and physical attacks between the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). “Series of attacks have been recorded during campaign rallies and party activities. “Dekina and Ankpa Local Governments have recorded the highest number of violence attacks among party members and supporters. “For example, on the 19th of Oct, 2019 a party supporter was shot dead in Anyingba during one of the political party rallies. “The number of death recorded in Anyingba and Ankpa communities is quite alarming. “There has been a rise in the use of political thugs to perpetrate violence, as this was recorded in Dekina, Ankpa, Olamaboro, Omala, and Idah Local Government Areas,” she said. According to Memedu, the objective of the report is to identify potential threats to peaceful election at the pre-and post-election stages. This, she said, will facilitate an early response by stakeholders like the Police, INEC and the National Orientation Agency with the intention of intervening to prevent violence. The group also urged the media to report issues relating to the process, conduct and outcome of the election objectively to douse tension and prevent violence. https://thenationonlineng.net/igp-deploys-35000-policemen-in-kogi/amp/

The Action Aid Nigeria PATS-F project on transparency and accountability international monitoring group on Monday adjudged Niger State as the best in school feeding programme. This rating, according to the organisation, follows the state’s sustenance of food quality and hygienic nature since the inception of the initiative by the Federal Government. This appraisal was made by the Action Aid Nigeria PATS-F project on transparency and accountability supported by the MacArthur Foundation during a tour of schools benefiting from the Homegrown School Feeding Programme in the state. The Coordinator, Action Aid, Kehinde Arowosegbe, said, “We have been to other states in Nigeria, we also visited South Africa but Niger State is currently placed among the best. Kaduna used to be the best in Nigeria but Niger State has taken over. “Life is about competition, Kaduna State was leading a few years back, Niger used to be backward but today it is now the best and I am sure we will learn and achieve more in Nigeria than we would in South Africa.” The National Programme Manager, Mrs Abimbola Adesanmi, said at the opening ceremony of the National Level Exchange and Experience Sharing Meeting in Minna that about 10 million school pupils across the country were benefiting from the initiative. In his remarks, Governor Abubakar Bello of Niger State commended the Federal Government for the programme, adding that it had further encouraged more children to go to school.
