Hi, It depends on what you used to steam it. Maybe you used a moisture conditioner. You can try using a protein deep conditioner like APhogee 2 -minute reconstructor.

dear you wouldn't understand, my mum for example has long black hair, and my brothers took after mum while my sis and I too after my dad's hair precisely his mother, if you like do washing and setting and all kind of thing if you like smoke Indian herm on our head it can grow so long and black naturally discoloured even without relaxer. some people had hair from one of both parent family and not necessary the parents but from a relation. check . its all genetic. I worked at a family hair dressing salon for years after school hours I know what am saying.

I agree with you to an extent. Genetics has a role to play. Sometimes as well, your hair can grow with proper care.

Do you wonder at all why Nigeria women become lose hair as they age? It is because of years of pouring toxic chemicals in their hair!

There is no scientific research to confirm that relaxers make older women to loose hair as they age. Hair-loss is part of the ageing process. Although some herbs can be applied to slow down the process.

I have seen Chris Rock's video and also read Dr. OZ comments on dangers on relaxers. They might be right. But it is only one scientific research work done in India I have seen that linked Fibroids to relaxers. Others just make speculations

It is possible that your hair is protein sensitive.
Try to add honey and olive oil to the deep conditioner.

I respect both opinions. Everybody is entitled to wear their hair as they want it. Whether your hair is natural or relaxed, it does not stop you from being who God has made you to be. In times of our fore fathers even till now, tribal marks were gotten to make them look beautiful. God did not create them with it. Same way, you can relax your hair if you want. Or carry it natural if you want too.

Yes you can steam her hair every 2 weeks. It will make it healthier. you can use a deep conditioner to do it too.

HI dear. Changing relaxers is not the solution to hair breakage ooo. How you relax you hair matters. If you want to relax your hair,
- Deep condition with deep conditioners like 5 days before
- Make sure the relaxer is only applied to the undergrowth. Don't allow the relaxer to touch the part you have relaxed before some months ago.
- If possible, relax every 2 or months. Not every 3 weeks.

do not get carried away, just like God created some tall and short, some peoples hair can never be so long. plus if u have a not too good hair avoid relaxer. that's the best option like I am doing now growing a hair without relaxer.

- weather: harmattan, so endeavor to always keep hair moist.
- not thoroughly washing out relaxer off after applying; some hair dressers are water miser.
- dryness of hair; just like some skin are very dry same with hair, try applying original dark and lovely pink oil, original Emily millionaire and a luza or Indian herp hair cream.(Indian herp is a name of a hair cream)

Thanks for your tips. Gbam! But i believe that your hair can grow long and healthy whether it is genetics or not. I have seen lots of Nigerians whose parents and sisters and cousins do not have long hair. But they grew their hair long with proper hair care.

Lol @geesilver. Hi Bukiminaj. SOrry about your hair wahala. Try Black soap shampoo. I saw this recipie on google:

- Get original black soap(Ose dudu). Put it in a bowl and add hot water to melt it.
- Add some honey. Add some grapeseed oil or any oil you have to it.
- Mix together and store it in a bottle.
I will try it this weekend myself.

I understand how you feel because not long ago i had the same issue but i want to assure you that its something everyone experiences once in a while. At this point, accept that even if you go natural you may experience the same if your hair is not taken care of.

1. Your hair may be breaking because you overlap the relaxer on already relaxed hair i.e you apply relaxer on relaxed hair while retouching new growth. The solution to this is to apply Vaseline on already relaxed hair before you start relaxing.

2. Underprocessing hair causes breakage, if your hair is already bone straight try and achieve the same results when you touch up your roots. If you get less straight hair after your touch up, the line of demarcation becomes a weak point that leads to breakage.

3. You may need a protein and cholesterol treatment, i suggest the aphogee two step protein treatment. Using an egg is ok too but never tried that.

4. Always use a wide tooth comb

5. You may have a lot of split ends. if you haven't, i advise you trim an inch off (Dont worry, it's just hair, it will grow back).

6. A deep condition treatment may help the texture of your hair and reduce breakage.

7. Are you eating right? sometimes it has to do with what we ingest. (you may want to take vitamins).

8. Try a sulphate free shampoo and a natural oil (coconut, olive oil etc)

9. Very important, it is essential that you use protective styles. Do not handle your hair so much when you are trying to stop breakage.

10. Do you stretch your relaxer?

11. It will not stop in one day, it can be quite frustrating but on the bright side, this is a learning curve.

As someone that was natural for a long while and went back to a relaxer, i can tell you that being natural cannot solve all hair problems. You eventually run into natural related issues. No side is easy.

You hair could be breaking because you do not deep condition it regularly. If you have not retouched in a long time, your hair could break at the place the relaxed part meets the due part.
