I arrived SA last week for my holiday, I used South African Airways, we took off at about 10:07PM and landed about 3:34AM. The immigration guys at night are very weird, they seem to beg Nigerians money, we should report to their immigration or boycut their airline. Some Nigerians just wear gold and diamond and the immigration officer was saying his tired of stamping passport that his been here since morning and it’s 4AM that we should wait till 7AM when the next shift of immigration officers… I don’t know because they feel Nigerians have money or they saw some boys dressing like Lil Baby. But except that experience it has been a beautiful week here in Johannesburg, excellent weather and great city, flying to Cape Town next before heading back to Lagos. All the best.. |
Why are you weird? You never use the 6 months visa yet, you are talking about 5 years? What do you want a 5 year visit visa for when you not a grandma going to the UK every year to spend holiday? Lol You just got 6 months, there are other countries you can visit. Ah abeg. You are asking someone who got a 5 year visa if he or she submitted a 3 or 6 months bank statement? Does that sound right for someone who claimed they just got their visa too? If they gave you 6 months visa with your 3 months statement and explanation as you claimed then use it again for the 5 years when time comes.. It worked for you so why do you need someone else info to know what to do? Nawa oo b31164707: |
Personally I always strive to use National Carriers when I’m visiting a country, except they don’t have. I would always advise anyone traveling to also use Qatar Airways, they serve good jollof rice from Lagos route to Doha, I’ve not used them to London but when someone I knew went to London with Qatar, they flew 787 Dream Liner from Lagos which is super comfortable and the fly AirBus A380 (the king of the skies) aircraft from Doha to London, this plane don’t come to Nigeria because of our airport structures, only Ethiopia and South Africa this special plane can fly into, and he said it was just the best flight. So if you can’t afford British Airways, then take Qatar. Turkish Airline from Lagos has bad food and they use an old AirBus A330 or so. If you don’t use BA or Qatar Airways then certainly go for AirPeace. |
Real flight ticket? talantolo: |
Well I personally think that mistake is minimal and should not carry water when a decision is been made, I’m very certain they might not even notice it, you should know paid mail don’t work that way, you can’t address application when you already submitted. You should not worry about it at all, keep a positive mind. b31164707: |
b31164707:Really? After you used months to craft your cover letter you still made a mistake!! Ah. I pray they don’t hold on to it. All the best. |
Type your letter in an A4 sheet. Including your personal information, passport number, the GWF application number and your date of birth and your email at he top of the letter. Put your name and address at the top right corner and then put the Home Office Address at the left side. Of course you know the format of a formal letter. The address is: HOME OFFICE UKVI- VISA SECTION 2 MARSHAM STREET LONDON SW1P 4DP Dear Sir/Madam Then you put the title or heading of the letter in block letter or capital letter. Craft your letter to be direct and precise, your bank statement of 1500 is too much you would have added it. You can add documents you go from your bank or any explanation that would help. Then put your name and use your blue pen to sign. The letter should be typed. But sign with your hand. But the letter inside the envelope, then go to your DHL office near you and send to that address, when I did mine it was around N64,000 not that long ago. You will surely get a response before a month, they will take it to their office and someone will read it and then will send you a mail. Make sure you are most convincing and put proof, don’t be emotional, it’s a formal letter, be direct. All the best. Nysckits: |
It’s time you face the UKVI, send them email. If you have spare money, draft a letter and send to home office via DHL those ones control UKVI. That’s what worked for me oooo. I’ll advise anyone to do it, your own case is even more serious, so take it seriously. Give a detailed letter to every error they made, they are humans and they can reverse course. Take your time and draft your emails and letters and send to them, you will surely get a response. Compile both statements and attach it. God be with you. |
I’m only on the caution that his honest with the document. Of course I’m not there, I’m only taking his words that he genuinely got the statement online, if that was true then what is it? I’m only commenting on the assumption that his honest and he didn’t alter it. Then why was it seen as a fake document? He only can answer that by getting to the bank. Personally I feel “online generated statements” may not be same with a branch statement. This people won’t call you to confirm, sometime the bank won’t even explain. Example: If you make a transfer on Saturday 30/1/2025 my bank online statement will record it as 30/1/2025. But if you go and print it from the branch, the date on it will be the next working day 2/2/2025. I’ve noticed this difference, imagine a visit officer is holding your “online bank statement” and says please confirm the transaction on this dates. Is that not a recipe of confusion already? The entry officer is seeing 30/1/2025 but the bank official is saying No, it’s 2/2/2025. This is the reality, I wanted to use my “online statement” but I realized that it was different from the branch. That’s what I’m trying to explain, I’m not saying “online statement” is void, No no. I just feel sometimes it’s not in harmony with the branch, the day a transaction is posted on an account might be different. If you doubt, I can show the public my monthly statement and then my paper statement I submitted, you would notice difference in date. A POS merchant debited recorded on 11/10/2024 on your online statement may not reflect on that same date in the branch, when the transaction clears, the date may be 17/10/2024. Some banks has this issue in Nigeria, do your research. Not all banks, but my bank has that issue and that’s why I avoided “online bank statement “ that was my point. giselle237: |
No, no you got me wrong, Just to put clarity, I never said you can’t use online statements, I know it’s there on their gov.uk website. My reason for that believe is because I used a “Standard Chartered Bank” for my visa and the online statements and very different from the branch paper statement. The date format is different , headings are different. I feel a little bit reserved about this because if an officer sees a branch paper statement from Standard Chartered Bank and then later see an online statement, there is a huge difference, and they are trained to detect difference from same documents, that should make the officer hold up and call in, remember this people are not in Nigeria. We don’t know why the officer even decided to email Providus Bank at first, have been a regular customer with the UKVI and though they denied me a lot, they never did they call to check my bank statement for once, or maybe I was too poor lol and if they even did before a bank would reply an email to say their customer bank statement is not as seen on their system, that’s a big thing. Providus online statement and paper statement are same information, same format and structure. My best bet was an email was sent to the bank head office, that’s Providus concierge. Please we would like to confirm this applicant bank information. Account Name Account Number On 21/10/2024, kindly confirm the credit amounts. On 08/12/2024, kindly confirm the debit amounts. Or They come specifically, Dear Providus Bank, kindly confirm on so so date, the given transaction occurred on so so account. How then does a bank official having called the customer’s account officer as he said will proceed and say “Dear UKVI, the above bank statement information does not match our client financial records.” Mistakes can happen, and I best hope it’s a big mistake on Providus Bank or UKVI part so you can really fight this, please if you know your statement wasn’t altered, please fight it to the end, don’t allow them steal your integrity. The UKVI made mistake with me, they gave me a refusal that was from someone else application, so yes I know how it feels, but like I said, once you know you legit, go all way out and fight your bank. And I’m also saying to avoid future occurrence, please except you can’t go to your branch due to maybe special circumstances, always go in branch and get your bank statement. Tell them specifically, I want to use it for my UK visa application, then also request a bank reference letter. This bank reference letter to me signifies that you a reliable customer, they only give bank reference to accounts older than 6 months in Nigeria banking rules and if your account has had fraudulent issues, they may not still give you. Tell them you want to address the letter to the UK Home office, they will tell you to write a letter to the branch manager to request for a reference letter. Just write it, I John Doe, humbly request for a bank reference letter and should be addressed to Address: UK Home Office 2 Marsham Street, London, SW1P 4DF That’s all. Every bank has their words for reference letter, you signed it and give to the customer service and they will print your bank statement from your desire dates and attach this letter too. giselle237: |
Before the Visa Officer decided to contact Providus, there must have been some issues he or she felt didn’t add up, they likely don’t verify bank statements. I really do not know why you used a bank statement generated from online, generally I think online statement is for personal use, to review transactions and not for official uses. A simple bank reference letter would have made that officer not doubt your statement because he would have seen the letter, signature and stamp. This is a huge internal issue if truly it was genuine I have a running Providus Bank and there’s no difference between their online bank statement and when you print it from the branch. So take your printed copy to the bank and ask them to show you the computer generated statement if there’s a difference, the officer said “how they came to the findings is documented on file” so they not only flag it as fraudulent, Providus Bank gave them proves as well. Because before you ban someone, the visa officer must provide proof from the original source. But this is really sad. Nysckits: |
kentdealer:Read the previous conversation from November, a lot have been said about that and how to explain interest from banks. If you use same bank account as your salary and expenses, you likely not get interest after 4 debits. |
onile1975:Just use this to structure your own. Your can’t copy and paste, our salaries and expenses are not same, so you may never understand. Structure your expenses to fit your budget, that’s all. If you like use words for words, it doesn’t matter. Like I said I had to bring it down because my initial budget was too much, I don’t know your salary or total savings right now, you can put your hotel at 100 pounds or you might not include a football ticket like I did. So let you goals in the UK compromise the expenses, not what I did. |
onile1975:Are you an Arsenal Fan? If Border Officer tell you to name Arsenal Players at the border will you? Lol Go to Google, type Arsenal Football Matchday ticket. You will see the different seats and the price, then use the one that fits your pocket. Mine was £145 |
Cashmadam:It will be most certainly noticed, that is their first check name and DOB. I’m very certain it won’t pass, I’m certain. Just rectify it, or if you have an explanation to give. But going to Abuja to rectify it is another issue, so you don’t go on their wrong side, just rectify it. |
onile1975:I think it was around £1300. |
onile1975:You are not reading to listen at all, nothing of what I said you asked a question about. This is my first UK visa and I chop lot of rejection, so I know it could be hard if you don’t have a good profile, a lot of them here said from their experience, it may be impossible to get a visa with your status, I was expecting you as a self acclaimed “genuine tourist” to look elsewhere for now. I don’t know but where do you get an hotel of your £128/7days? That’s about £18 per night. Mine was about £50 per night and the hotel was average 3 star, so except you going to a village in the UK, I don’t know how that will pass. This feeding and transportation budget is low, I think @davodyguy was in the UK recently and he recounted how expensive the city is, if you going for touring and visiting places, even that amount won’t take you round in Lagos Bolt, if I’m factual. I even spent more in Kenya than that budget you put up. I know you trying to make it fit into your disposable income but the maths don’t lie, does it reflect a true tourist? No it doesn’t. There are beautiful countries like South Africa and Doha you can have your vacation, don’t let this Brits take your $155 and add to Manchester United new stadium renovation lol. But if you want to go ahead then that’s your decision. You can try it and see the outcome, if it’s refused you can also learn and adjust, if it’s granted then Hurray. Best Wishes |
[quote author=onile1975 post=133886576]@ jonele474 thanks, and Gurus in the house I need guidance on my case Because of what you say about 3days trips I have stopped it and decide to go for a week holiday, actually my last refusal was 10years ago and the reason was account irregularity, now I am tiding my account so that I can reapply this year, but two things have changed in my application record (1) my job 2) I married new wife My job change from salary eaner of 200k to a business man of monthly income of 1m naira 2) I married new wife and I want to use these new wife and her children for family tie, What I need is how can I do 7days holiday budget that will not exceed my 3months disposable income of 700k I really do not know how you are going to do it but 700,000 naira is not much for a man with a wife and kids. A single individual spends up to 300k in a month, how then can a family with kids spend same amount. Not imputing your previous marriage as well. How much will you use to go to holiday and come back and care for your extensive family, your family is a great asset most times but in this your situation I would be considered as a set back to your finance, and if an officer with the knowledge of Nigeria economy see it, you will pay school fees and feeding, how then can you spend 300k on a wife and 3 kids, look it up again. If you really want a holiday, go to Kenya 🇰🇪. Go online and fill the Kenya E-Visa form, book your flight and go relax for a week, it will be cheaper and Kenya is cold as well. It will give you London vibes, you can’t fit in that budget considering your family size and your responsibilities. That’s my best advice. I hope it helps |
onile1975:Hahaha, it’s not as it seems, I have a lot of travel history and that’s why I felt entitled about the visa, on top that they still denied me and luckily it was their mistake I used to enter them and wrote the Home Office, My testimony came with a brutal refusal also and I think from what they told you, you needed a tight profile and from their observation, your personal and financial circumstances cannot do the trick.. You try to change course from business visa or do visit shows you are been blown around in the winds of thoughts and don’t go gift them free $155. Cuz they will gladly take it. Listen to what they have told you, brush up your financial, this is the way those Visa Officer think, you have not been to the UK before, I don’t know if you have travelled extensively but saying you going to the UK for 3 days, they will just laugh. That alone they will just put “you can’t spend this amount on a short trip” that’s all. It’s good to be determined, but check your circumstances well and give it time, you can order small or send someone you know to go check the office, those are all means to avoid this 3 day trip. That’s how they think. But if you are convinced you want to then proceed, nobody is stopping you, they are only using their experience to guard you, that’s all. Best wishes. |
kentdealer:Mine was flagged as unknown funds in my first application, although it was written “credit interest “. So make sure to explain that on so so date, this amount was a credit interest from the bank. If you can also contact your bank and asked them what credit was that, they will say it’s a credit interest or so so. Then add the email to your explanation as well. That’s all. I did this in my second application, so make sure you do it in your first now. |
onile1975: |
If your trip budget is more than 3 or 4 times your disposable income, better adjust now. |

Modupe1981:You don’t need flight reservations for UK visit visa. They already know you are using airplane to travel. They want to see how much for the flight budgeted and how it fits in your budget. Those information are frivolous when they are considering applications, at least from my previous refusals. They have all the information, use Air Peace, BA, Qatar, Kenya Airways, Rwanda Air if you are so particular about flight reservations. |
Modupe1981:I think this question is a big trap. Let me tell you why… you know mathematics will surely add up right? Ok let’s do this. I’m going to London and I budgeted 3M+ for my one week trip, guess what, they said No you can’t spend 3M on a week trip, because your disposable income won’t fit in. The amount doesn’t matter to them at least, what I think they look at is the effect of your proposed expenditure against your available funds. Imagine you say you wanna visits lots of attraction sights and me I said I wanna go see a family and chill with them, they expect you budget to be bigger, me I won’t pay for hotel and you will. So make sure your budget reflect your activities and events, if you copy and paste, they will look at your intended events and they look at the budgeted money, they will laugh. I learnt that very well in my previous refusal, but in all you do make sure you maximize. Even if you have money, they don’t want you to waste it on a visit, that’s what I’ve learnt also, let them know Omo I’ve things I’m doing with my money but I can bring this one out and it’s sufficient. That’s how me I see it. Know I know why they gave my cousin visa with 4M balance, it was the details they checked against his funds. |
b31164707:I was refused for just because credits of N2,000 and N12,000 though I explained it was a bank refund. So like you said, if there’s an email from the bank to say yes this was a refund or reversal then also a chat from the individual that would also go a long way. They don’t just like credits that’s not your salary. Though I explained, the dumb officer didn’t buy it the first time, so please put enough bank documents to explain. |
Modupe1981:1.I used AirPeace. 2. Naira |
davodyguy:I usually clear the messages in the box hahahah I just realize you have to leave the message then type yours. Thank you |
davodyguy:I don’t know how to. |
It’s only that Giselle that commented on my refusal. It seems your account is fake because you have been to almost every country…. Is that true? |
Ah!!! This one shock me. |
I no know oooo no vex abeeeg. |
