Jobs/VacanciesAnd He Got Fired by jomson(op): 9:08pm On Aug 03, 2017
Tade, a smart Nigerian who was brilliant within this sphere of practice. He received acknowledgements on-the-job and he felt he owned his world. This was a sure promise of job security. With the accolades and open deferring of issues to him for solutions, Tade’s thought was one who was immune to job loss.

Unfortunately it happened and a once brilliant dude got confused and was unable to do what he did best – think! His high spirit comes crumbling and was swallowed up in low self esteem.

Many Tade’s exist today in the workplace. Now is the time to avail yourself the knowledge on Retrenchment and how to equip yourself. While you do not wish for a job loss, do not deny yourself of a knowledge that can come handy for self or close ones should the need arises.

Jobs/VacanciesJob Search Essentials For 2016 by jomson(op): 12:06pm On Dec 08, 2015
This article is coming at this time of the year for a reason. It is to enlighten you on what needs to be on your priority list as you continue in your job search come 2016. Ensure you are deliberate and approach job search differently. Something needs to happen for its effect to manifest. What needs to happen has to happen the right way for the right manifestation.

For your job search come 2016, the following are recommended:

Networking is key:

The juiciest jobs are not secured through job boards. Just a few of job openings find their way to the many job boards around. Quite a lot of these opening are known and applied for through referrals. Perhaps in the New Year you need to have a target of how many important/relevant people you need to connect with in a month. You need to identify platforms where you can showcase your competencies. Attend industry relevant conferences and seminars. Just ensure you put yourself out there. Remember, don’t just be there, open your mouth and talk the right way.

Generic is a Crime: http://femiojomo.com/with-this-knowledge-cv-screening-robot-will-shortlist-your-cv/

Doing the common to beat competition will never bring the desired results. You need to be different in all that you do as you search for jobs. Your technique for searching for job should not be the common formula. Derive a unique equation for yourself. Never use a generic CV to apply for a job. It is a complete waste of your resource. You need to be mindful of your Return on Effort and Investment. This will inform what quality and distinction you bring into the game of job search.

Let the world know you:

With the internet, you have the world on your palm. With a blog, you can easily communicate your authority. Remember, if you are all about a job then this might be difficult. Think career and ensure all that you present on your blog helps to solve problems as related to your field of practice. In so doing, Recruiters will notice you and are likely to reach out to you.

Dress to be addressed:

Dress buys you a powerful first impression. It brings this respect even before you open your mouth to talk. In Nigeria, it is powerful. You step into the reception and they think you are there to see the CEO. So this is Christmas, ensure you budget for a powerful suit, shirt, tie and shoe. Do not spend your entire funds on enjoyment, your suit at this point is an investment. You can get great looking suits from 15,000 naira.

Engage Recruiters:

Some Executive Firms help Candidates search for jobs through the distribution of CV. Research these firms and have a chat with them. There is no arm in trying.

LinkedIn is a place to be:

Stay away from gossip blogs. Focus your resources to network on LinkedIn. Connect with people that matters, join relevant groups and contribute meaningfully. Ask sensible professional questions that will trigger debates of intellects. With this, surely you will get that attention. Give yourself a target for LinkedIn engagements.

Never stay Idle:

While you are still searching for that job, engage your mind, body and soul. If you need to volunteer or provide freelance services, just get something doing. This has been the start of great things for some individuals. It sometimes reveals a likeable side of your personality that harbour’s strength and passion. Perhaps your earlier choice of profession was not 100% for you.

These are few of the things you could add as actions to your 2016 goal of landing a job.
