Islam › Re: Should Muslims Say 'Merry Christmas' To Christians Or Not? by Jonadull: 11:19am On Dec 14, 2018 |
Bismillah,
Salam alaikum brother,
Thanks for sharing. However I have reservations about this. This is the first time I am hearing this as I know that it is a scholarly concecus that it is not permissible to say Merry Christmas . The prophet (peace and blessing) be upon him said that Allah will not cause the ummah to agree on falsehood. The scholars agree that what is meant is by that is the unanimous agreement of the scholars on issues ( such as in the case of saying Merry Christmas).
On th barest minimum, saying Merry Christmas is encouraging disbelif. No doubt this is not a celebration from Allah but rather of kufr. I am not a 100% sure Christmas existed during the time of the prophet (peace and blessing be upon him), but I know that the Jews had their religious celebrations and so did the pagans.
Are there evidences that the prophet (peace and blessing be upon) him or the shabas or righteous prdessasors congratulated the pagans or other non-Muslims during their religious festivals and celebrated disbelief? The answer is no. Not at all.
If there are no evidences that the prophet (peace and bessing) be upon him, his sahabas or the righteous predecessors (who are the best generations after the prophet), congratulated non-Muslims on their religious festivals, out of courtesy, then why should we?
If a Muslim feels to shy to give dawah or is unsure what to say when someone says Merry Christmas, then he/she can say thank you.
On a side note, I am extremely curious about this sheikh. Do you happen to know more information about him? What he promotes? Background information? You know one can never be too cautious or protective regarding the deen. It is vital to research information reaching us about the deen, especially in these times when there is so much confusion in the ummah.
Once again, thanks for sharing
Salam alaykum I wish o could like this a hundred times |
Islam › Re: Who is your close friend? by Jonadull: 9:55am On Dec 14, 2018 |
Lukgaf: Sometimes four of five people are travelling in a car and whilst travelling one person might start an argument which continues, then tempers fly, a person cannot control his fist. Sometimes a person hits another person and the police come to the scene and arrest the person for assault. Sometimes a person may not be guilty but he is jailed till Monday morning as he was arrested on a Friday. So, a person has to undergo so much of inconvenience as he wanted to prove his point.
However, if a person learns to forgive, forgo and not fall into arguments then he is saved from all such problems. The next day Hadrat Hakim Saheb also taught us that Hadrat Thanwi R.A said, “When one does not fall into the arguments of mankind he will be free for the Ibaadat of Allah Taála.” Many times we fall into arguments, after the argument, a person’s mind works for weeks or even months and one thinks that I should have told him this or that. I should have done this or that to him. The Namaaz of a person is also occupied in that argument. Whilst reciting Quraan, his mind is occupied in the argument. A person’s mind is working all the time and one’s enmity is growing.
If a person forgoes his right even though he is entitled to such a right, he will enjoy peace of mind in his Ibaadat, with his family, etc. A person should learn to forgive and forget when arguments take place between husband and wife, between brothers, or between parents and children. We should take the lesson of the Quraan Sharif and forgive as Yusuf Alaihis Salaam had done. By doing so, he proved to be a very honourable person. The very brothers that hated him now began to love him.

Politics › Re: 2019 Election: U.S. Senate Urges FG To Finalise Electoral Amendment Bill by Jonadull: 9:16am On Dec 14, 2018 |
KEVIND: I don't understand why this news was taken down from Nairaland. I repost it.
The Senate of the United States of America (USA) has identified the delay in signing the Electoral Amendment Bill as one of the major obstacles to the conduct of the 2019 general elections and has urged the Federal Government to finalise it before the elections.
It made the resolution following a motion moved by Senator Bob Menendez, a Democratic senator representing New Jersey and ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
While asking the Federal Government to respect the impartiality of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the lawmakers also called on the Federal Government to take necessary steps to facilitate elections that are credible, transparent, and peaceful.
The U. S. Senate said steps would include providing adequate funding, sensitising the voters, and take necessary actions to punish electoral offenders through the establishment of the Electoral Offences Commission and Tribunal.
The senators also raised concerns over the recently concluded governorship elections in Ekiti and Osun where, it said, security agencies displayed partisanship.
“During the Ekiti and Osun gubernatorial elections in July 2018 and September 2018, respectively, there were concerning incidents in which some elements of Nigeria’s security agencies displayed partisanship and a lack of objectivity, which risks escalating tensions within the country.”
While reaffirming the support of the United States towards ensuring a peaceful, electioneering process in the country, the U.S. Senate said that collaboration between civil society organisations “was a key factor that contributed to successful elections in 2015”.
While moving the motion, Menendez said, “I am introducing this resolution to send a signal that the U.S. Senate is carefully watching the conduct of all actors leading up to the February 2019 elections.

bixton: [s]A university that was created for adults who have passed the prime age of attending a normal regular university to enable them be educated in what can be referred to as a tertiary institution. Now you have children attending such and clamouring for whatever inclusion just because we have a country that does not know how to tackle her problems. This is the same reason the government abolished part time university graduates from the mandatory NYSC scheme.A backward system of country where polythecnic/monothecnic no longer exist just because every graduates wants to be equal with that university graduate because they believe they have more practical knowledge, etc, etc, etc. Forgetting the reason why they went to polythecnic/monothecnic in the first instance. They have changed the 6-3-3 system, very soon technical colleges will be upgraded to the non existent polythecnic system. Hope all these changes will add real value to the country. [/s] Created for adults ? You must be a comedian. |
