Focus: Beware of God's Anger

The word for today
The gravest misfortune a person can face is for God to be determined to eliminate them at any cost. Repent from your wicked ways and honour God in your consecrated space. Never reach a point where God has to harden your heart, leading to your destruction!

Eli cautioned his sons against incurring the wrath of God, emphasizing that when God determines to act, no one can thwart His intentions. While God can save a person from external oppression, who can rescue them when God chooses to eliminate them? It is imperative for us all to be vigilant and not take the grace of God for granted. A person who persists in wrongdoing, seemingly without immediate consequences, may be emboldened to continue until eventual destruction.

Reflecting on God's dealings with Pharaoh, when He wanted to bring about his downfall, He hardened Pharaoh's heart. Pharaoh remained oblivious to the signs God presented through the ten plagues in Egypt until destruction befell him at the Red Sea. God, in His graciousness, warns us through His Word and various occurrences around us, urging us not to be entangled in the web of wickedness before repentance.

The people of God will always desire to honour God by offering various sacrifices, including their bodies, time, resources, and hard-earned money. If a supposed man of God misappropriates these sacrifices for selfish gains, akin to the sons of Eli, who will deliver them when God executes judgment? Repentance should not be postponed until God decides on destruction.

In the face of God's potential judgment, who will rescue a person when He decides to bring about their downfall?

Dear Lord, shield me from Your wrath. I commit to doing Your will and relying on Your mercy. May I never experience the consequences of Your judgment in Jesus' Amen!

When God decides to destroy a wicked man no one can stop Him.

The account of the deeds of the sons of Eli reached him, spreading widely among the congregation of God's people. Drawing from his understanding of God's character, Eli advised them to cease from their sinful ways. What remains unknown is only what you abstain from doing. Jesus affirmed that all secrets will eventually come to light, and everything hidden will be revealed for all to see (Luke 8:17).

We've heard of teachers supporting students in exam malpractice, judges accepting bribes to pervert justice, lecturers involved in unethical practices like sex or money for grades, doctors engaging in illicit activities such as organ harvesting and abortion, police providing ammunition for criminals, and pastors participating in rituals, sexual immorality, and exploiting souls in their care.

Conversely, we've also heard about teachers selflessly organizing extra lessons to ensure students succeed in righteousness, judges rejecting bribes to uphold justice, doctors viewing their profession as a ministry and saving numerous lives, lecturers maintaining high academic standards, pastors winning souls and nurturing them for God's use and eternity, and individuals offering homes to the homeless, providing comfort to the oppressed, and meeting the needs of the needy. These stand as reports of the lives of certain individuals.

What is the reputation surrounding your actions? Why persist in sinful behavior? Have you ceased engaging in what is right?

Dear Lord, help us to yield ourselves to You and live a life that brings honour to You in Jesus' name. Amen!

There are no secrets; your deeds are being reported, and the Lord meticulously takes note of them, including every intent of the heart.

The pursuit of blessings, material possessions, relief from pain or sickness, promotion, and breakthroughs often leads individuals to make significant promises and commitments to God. In the case of Hannah, she pledged, "If God grants her a son, she will dedicate him to the LORD for all the days of his life." The Lord honored her request as it harmonized with His purpose.

A subtle desire resonates within God for His people; He desires our presence and involvement in everything He undertakes on earth. He desires our existence to contribute meaningfully to the fulfillment of His purpose. Hannah's magnanimity in fulfilling her vow pleased the Lord, resulting in His blessings and the gift of more children.

Consider an individual who pledges a lifetime of service to the Lord in exchange for healing, employment, a child, survival, or a unique miracle – God, in His faithfulness, readily fulfills these promises, for such actions draw individuals closer to Him. However, failing to honor vows displeases the Lord. Contributing to the Lord is a guaranteed way to safeguard your resources; lending to the Lord ensures no loss. Regardless of circumstances, do not neglect fulfilling your vows.

Is there any vow you have yet to fulfill?

Dear Lord, in my pursuit of blessings and breakthroughs, grant me the grace to align everything I do with Your purpose. Help me fulfill any outstanding commitments and promises I've made to You in Jesus' name. Amen!

Heaven is responsive to earthly endeavours aligned with God's will. Some dimensions of greatness or solutions require an individual to transcend conventional limits and do something extraordinary. Elisha's supernatural achievements, Joseph's resilience in adversity, Daniel's unwavering faith, and the courage of the three Hebrews in the fiery furnace are testaments to extraordinary actions yielding extraordinary results.

Your life's circumstances await a unique and extraordinary response in alignment with God's will for a transformative turnaround. Be poised to honor God and diligently carry out His will on earth as it is in heaven.

What is happening in the fold of God today is not new; rather, it represents a progression from what unfolded in the past. The Scripture, divinely inspired, holds value for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and guiding in righteousness. The lifestyle exhibited by the sons of Eli epitomizes a generation of individuals who dishonour God in their sacred places of dedication. Such echoes of dishonour persist even in our times, resembling those entrusted by the Lord with the souls He redeemed through His own blood.

To dishonor God is to possess knowledge of His word yet deliberately disregard it in favour of personal desires. The sons of Eli indulged themselves in the offerings meant for God, seizing the honour intended for Him and diverting people's attention toward themselves rather than God. Their teaching merely served self-interest, cloaked in a facade of meeting others' needs while driven by a thirst for wealth. Some even advocate neglecting family obligations to sow seeds into their ministry. Their focus isn't on nurturing the spiritual growth of those under their care but on personal gains, fame, and material possessions.

They disdain ministering to smaller congregations and those of humble status. Similar to the sons of Eli, their actions remain transparent before the Lord. Persisting in defiling their consecration with sin, greed, and selfishness, their impending end and ruin are evident. Exploiting souls for personal gain, especially those for whom Christ died, cannot go unpunished. It is wiser to distance oneself from God's work than to become a disgrace in His presence.

Who do you choose to be in God's presence?

Lord, purge your fold of every resemblance to the sons of Eli in Jesus' name. Amen!

When a man becomes dishonorable enough to disrespect God in the place of his consecration, he will meet a fate similar to that of the sons of Eli.

Sometimes, the devil deceives individuals into thinking they can outsmart the Lord's instructions. Initially, this might seem beneficial, but ultimately, it leads to losing out on the true purpose of life.

Joseph's life, even as a slave, mattered greatly to God because of his faithfulness and righteousness. Similarly, Daniel and his three friends' lives became significant through their faithful obedience, despite being captives. God honored them, elevating them to esteemed positions. If you honor God and walk in His ways, your life will necessitate divine intervention.

The Almighty God is limitless in His abilities, capable of doing extraordinary things in a person's life. He is trustworthy, and when we rely on Him, disappointment is never the outcome. Surrender every aspect of your life to Him entirely. His capacity exceeds our thoughts, actions, and desires, enabling Him to do exceedingly and abundantly more than we can ever imagine or ask for.

The greatest battle of the devil against the people of God is to make sure they are not under the shadow of the Almighty. The Lord Jesus gave an illustration of the prodigal son who thought he would do well going away from the Father, but his life turned out to be miserable. Things fall into the rightful place for him when he returns to the Father. No matter how wonderful the life of a man may appear to be, his life will turn out miserable if his life is not under the shadow of the Almighty.

The evil uses various bait associated with money to lure men away from the Shadow of the almighty. It is an outright deception of the devil to think there is something you cannot become through righteousness in Christ. It is very costly for a man's life to operate outside the shadow of the Almighty. God will only be your refuge and fortress; your shield and buckler, protect you from terror, evil arrow, pestilence, and destruction that lays waste at noonday; if and only if you abide under His shadow.

With God standing by your side; no evil shall befall you, Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; He will satisfy you with long life and show you His salvation.

Do you dwell in the secret place of the Most High?

Lord! Your presence will be my shield and guide; always stand by me to bring your word to pass in my life in Jesus' name. Amen!

If you are reading this; the Lord has been gracious to you. It is a pity that many have wonderful prospects and aspirations who are no more today. We are alive today not because we have strength, wisdom or we are careful enough to pass through evils associated with each day but because the Lord in His mercy chooses to stand by us and keep us safe.

When we don't even know the enemies that presented themselves as friends to get involved in our affairs, the Lord still kept us safe. We have no idea if there are even some people who embark on a special journey to do evil because the Lord put their counsel and enterprise to nothing. Despite every situation that appears in the form of hardship, challenges, adversity, sickness, disappointment, lack, and hopelessness the Lord made us all to scale through. Only God can do this; if not Him, who else?

You may have not achieved what you think you might have achieved by now; the fact that you have a life is an assurance that you will achieve even more. Can you pause what you are doing and appreciate God? Irrespective of what has happened and what will happen God remains God, and He needs no man to be the God He is.

If the LORD had not been on your side what would your life have been?

Willingness and cheerfulness from the heart of worship are the ultimate qualities God expects from every act of giving. Whatever you give grudgingly and after being motivated or pressured is not acceptable to God. So also whatever you give to satisfy the sinful nature. The acceptability of your offering to God begins when you see it as a great privilege.

Grace in a man's heart will help him to see giving as a privilege. Such will not be ashamed to give anything no matter how small. The ultimate giving is the release of your life selflessly in service to God and the brethren.

This is what that grace is all about. It is about making others rich even if we become poor. The issue in giving is grace, not a show. The souls of men are much more important and that is the greatest offering you can offer to God.

The way Christ lived while on earth is the prototype of how we should live if we must fulfill our mandate and establish His purpose. We must understand that our calling as the sons of God is to be who God wants us to be and to resemble Christ in His attributes. Hence, our lives are not about us but of Christ through whom all things exist.

The Government of the Son as specified by Christ is a type that depends absolutely on God and does the will of God as it is in heaven. It is a government that is based on love, forgiveness, and compassion and does not harbor grudges. Jesus performs several miracles, he brought the death to life and met both the physical and spiritual needs of all those who came in contact with Him. They have remarkable experience and in turn, make an indelible positive mark in the sand of time. When Christ rules in a life and a domain; the immediate contact will experience God who is Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Does Jesus rule in your life? Under whose government does your life operate?

Lord! I receive the grace to always submit myself to your preeminence; always walk and work in me to do you good pleasure in Jesus' name. Amen!

The major problem of our generation is nothing else but ignoring the precept of God. If every man is mindful of the fact that God is involved in all affairs, things will fall into their rightful place.

Sometimes when we observe developed countries, we admire most of what we see in terms of infrastructure, technological advancement, service to humanity, and plans and vision for its citizens. Going through the memory lane and history, you will discover that men who were at the helm of various affairs of the country were men who performed their duties as if they were serving God.

You also have an opportunity today, you are a servant of God in the domain of your placement. Do away with eye service, live not your life to please men. Render your services with the fear of God. You will be held responsible for every life lost on the account of your service be it a Pastor, Teacher, Doctor, Engineer, Lawyer, Politician, Scientist, Journalist, Banker, Accountant, etc.

Are you serving God with your profession?

Lord! Help me to serve you with whatever I am and will be in Jesus' name. Amen!

The major reason behind the various failures or misfortunes we experience in various aspects of life as children of God is to ensure that we lose confidence to the best of our capability and to put absolute trust in Him. Take for example; despite all you have you still lack some things readily available to someone so very close to you. Even those you think they have what you don't have lack something else.

It is not enough that you are smart, have experience, connections, skill, certificates, and good moral characteristics; you are still not made until you have come to understand that the race is not for the swift, nor battle for the strong, nor riches for men of understanding (Eccl 9:11). The Lord wants a situation whereby when people look at your life the only explanation they will have is - it is God (2Cor 4:7). Don't wrestle with God in any aspect of life but rather acknowledge Him to have His way because He will never allow the flesh to glory in His presence.

Are you not vulnerable in various areas?

Life is characterized by different seasons. It is on the account of different seasons of life that we are categorized as children, young people, and adults. There is an activity associated with every season of your life.

Irrespective of the season of your life the fact remains that no season lasts forever. A child will think like a child and prophesy about his future. In that season, people make decisions for him and provide for him all that he needs. He needs not worry about many things in life.

When he becomes a youth, he becomes conscious of himself and makes his own choice to lay the foundation of his career, marriage, ministry, spiritual life, social life, etc.

When he becomes an adult he shifts his focus from himself to his children and other relationships. He loses interest in several activities of life. At a point, he gives his children out in marriage and also has a daughter-in-law. Also, the news of the death of his friends, husband/wife, and colleagues will come to him before He passes on to eternity.

One of those things you will not but always experience in everything you do is discouragement. You will be tempted to quit your marriage, relationships, business, ministry, career, church, and the things you do for God on account of setbacks or unfavourable outcomes.

When your expectations over certain issues of life are not met do all you can to ensure improvement. The evil one has not succeeded in whatever you do until he stops you from pursuing your goal. At a point, the Israelites by the hardship and setbacks they faced on the pathway to the promised land contemplate not forging ahead but rather returning to Egypt. The ultimate goal of discouragement is to take back or put your life on hold. Whenever discouragement comes always find grace and strength in God to encourage yourself to forge ahead!

Are you discouraged about things?

Lord! I will not be discouraged; come what may I will reach my goal in Jesus' name. Amen!

Discouragement weakens the required strength you need to achieve your goal. A man will deprive himself of his blessings whenever he becomes discouraged.

Your salvation is guaranteed in God if you will wait upon Him. The fact that God is an expert in making things beautiful in His own time makes Him leave some things undone till the perfect time when His Glory will be best manifested.

Victory is always sweet when it comes at the last moment. And when it comes, it comes with an inspiration and glory that is attributed to God alone.

When you find yourself in various situations of life that appear hopeless and without prospect, hold onto God and wait upon Him till His salvation comes.

Every test, trial, or life challenge has an end. They are meant to come and to pass. You will only be saved if you endure to the end. Endurance is part of the qualities you must possess as a child of God. Your victory is placed at the end of every life situation; hence, hold on till the end.

Will wait upon the Lord till the last moment?

The Lord deserves nothing but our appreciation and worship. Faith in God demands that you believe that all He does is good and the best for you. Life has proven over time that not all good things are good for the heart of men. God uses both the good and bad things of life to shape our lives into His intended purpose for us. That you are still alive signifies that you have hope and a better tomorrow lies ahead.

Consider the example of the three Hebrews who, by refusing to bow to the golden image, trusted not in their obedience but in God's mercy (Dan 3:16-17). They acknowledged that God might save them or not, recognizing His prerogative to extend mercy to whom He wills. Yet, in His faithfulness and mercy, God stood by them, fulfilling His promise. Therefore, the certainty of being preserved lies solely in God's merciful intervention.

As we journey through destiny, always bear in mind that entitlement doesn't arise from our actions; instead, we must continually seek His mercy. Progress in life and the fulfillment of our purpose hinges solely upon His mercy. Our prayers, endeavors, and accomplishments find merit only by His mercy. Regardless of our experiences and efforts, yearn for His mercy in every aspect of life – in our pursuits, homes, ministries, businesses, academics, relationships, and our very lives.

It is true that the Lord knows what is best for us and He deals with men based on divine timing. However, when God is set to bless a man He does not present the blessing to him on the platter of gold but rather presents and creates opportunities through which he can become blessed.

In Mark 10:46-52; Bartimaeus took the advantage of when Jesus was passing his way to get healed. What would have happened to him if he never cared to know that Jesus was passing. I am so sure He was not the only one who needed help but He was the only one that was saved.

You have also heard of what the Lord has done in the lives of men; it is your turn to call upon the Lord to visit your case. It is true that you have been praying and possibly have taken fate over some issues; when your joy is not full Jesus said keep asking.

Do you need healing, salvation, fruitfulness, miracles based on the peculiarity of the issues in your life; call upon the name of the Lord. The evidence of his works in the lives of faithful men is enough to tell him not to pass you by.

Do you still believe in your salvation in every issue of life or have you taken your fate?

Our lives are more like a book having different chapters. Irrespective of the chapter your life might appear to be; the fact remains that you should allow the Joy of the Lord to rule over your life.

We will not but always come to various points where the situation of life will be so difficult to the point of being tempted to give up. When life presents the option of sadness to you. Please choose to be happy if not for anything but for the fact that you have God and that glorious days lie ahead of you.

Whatever the case may be with you don't forget the fact that the Lord has invested so much in you to bring you this far. Rejoice in the hope that all will be well with you. Pharaoh was a stubborn ruler who subjected the Israelites to intense labour and hardship. He intended to make them slaves forever. Pharaoh is a symbol of hindrance or impediment to the promised land.

There are several Pharaohs in our days:
✴️They are people who have only one aim; to oppress people.
✴️Those who do not live with the orientation that there is a measure of God in the lives of every man who must be treated with dignity, love, and respect.
✴️Those who arrogantly yield to their own will at the expense of God's will.
✴️Those who do not give up on subjecting men to oppression irrespective of the warning signs presented to them.
✴️Those who stand in the way of a man's progress or promotion to the next level.
✴️Those who take pleasure in seeing men suffering.
✴️Those who have what it takes to help people to their next level but fail to do so.
✴️Those who fail to forgive those who offend them.

When God in His mercy brings you to a limelight of influence, power, and authority; be careful not to make yourself a Pharoah. God's verdict over Pharaoh is that his heart will be hard to bring about his destruction. A man whose heart is hard against God's instruction is heading towards his destruction like Pharaoh.

Are you free from the spirit that oppresses people?

Be true to your calling; do not allow life's circumstances to mold you into someone you never intended to become.

God provides the power to attain wealth, not the wealth itself. If you search within, you'll find the power to achieve greatness. A victim mentality suppresses this inherent ability. It stifles the divine potential meant to set people free in fulfilling their destinies.

Consider the inspiring examples of individuals with disabilities who rose to greatness, refusing to let their limitations define them. Their disabilities did not make them liabilities but rather empowered them to become assets. Being poor can be a choice when one views their disability as a reason to rely on others. Victim mentality is closely related to an entitlement mentality. Embrace the truth that you are fearfully and wonderfully made, deserving of respect, and capable of achieving remarkable things.

There are several men out there who detest every act that has to do with normal and due process. They hate righteousness and boycott every process meant to prepare them for the fulfillment of their mandate. Such will not but fail in destiny; it is a matter of time. It takes good character to sustain a home, business, academics, career, job, ministry, and any position of leadership.

Your character is a factor that determines how far you will go and the perspective of your journey in destiny. An indication that a man is advancing towards the gate of death will be seen when his soul abhors all manner of food. To go forth in life and fulfill your mandate in destiny you must avail yourself to eat appropriately. The recommendation of God to Elijah to go on with the assignment given to him is to eat.

Men will fall sick and when this happens, the first medication is food, which is to be followed by whatever is required to be taken to restore good health. Don't allow your ailment to hinder you from eating. Every effort made to prevent you from eating is an effort made towards the gate of death.

This is also applicable to your spiritual, marital, career, and academic life. You have to give these aspects of your life what it requires. The word of God is the best food for your soul. When you stop eating or feeding your soul with the required food in various aspects of life you sign up for death!

In this life, we may be faced with different issues of life which bring about different questions in our hearts. With the prior knowledge of what God can do and what He is doing in the lives of other men may prompt us to ask if the Lord cares about us.

Can we say the Lord cares? when your heart is pained too deeply for mirth or song and the way grows weary and long; When your way is dark with nameless dread and fear, as the daylight fades into deep night shades and it seems as if God doesn't care enough to be near.

Can we say the Lord cares? When you have tried and failed in various aspects of life; to resist some temptation strong; when for our deep grief there is no relief, though our tears flow all night long? Sometimes, men have to say “goodbye” to the dearest on earth; sickness and diseases often kill our hope to live on to fulfill destiny.

In all these, you must be mindful of the fact that you are passing through the test of faith and the fact that He cares. In every circumstance, His heart is touched with your grief. The right orientation needed for successful living as you go in destiny is to believe without wavering that the Lord cares for you.

Does the Lord care about you?

Lord! I know you care so much about me; perfect that which concerns me in Jesus' name. Amen!
