And besides won't people living in the time of the bubonic plague in 11th century that devastated Europe would also think it was also think it was "pestilence" and the"sign of the end" there's no plague that has killed more than the black plague and it killed 50 million people during that time the world has also been predicted to end about 176 times since the first century. We should be worrying about real environmental issues like global warming cuz that's a real threat

And Jesus Christ's time of prophecy was in the 19th Century, I guess?

The way some of u think and talk is just bewildering! angry
lol you obviously don't read the bible. If you do you'll know jesus thought the end was in his time he even told the high priest that he would see him return I'm the clouds he told them some of them standing there wont taste death till they see the kingdom of heaven and that generation wouldn't pass till all the signs are fulfilled

Christianity Etc › The Existance Of God Or Gods. Can't Really Say. Evidence Of Evolution Yes by jonbellion(op): 12:12pm On Oct 15, 2016
Evolution. When Charles Darwin wrote the origin of species back in 1859, the way we look at biology was forever altered. Till now the debate continues though not as frequently than before. Basically most scientists accept this happened the evidence is there to see. There are are also theistic evolutionist scientists who say it happened but God guided the process. I'm actually indifferent towards religion but its strange when I see creationists argue against something they don't understand. So.i wrote this thread to show proofs evolution happened
Well the one that really made me believe wasn't actually evolution itself ur was the theory of plate tectonics. If yo look at the continents of Africa and south America you'd find out thru fit like a jigsaw puzzle. Another amazing thing is that there are matching fossils on each side of the continents where the continents split. Satellites have also observed the drift and it's goes further about few centimetres a year. Another thing is radiometric dating how it works is that there is cuz of carbon-14 there is a semi constant ratio of this in the atmosphere scientists deduct the half life which is 5370 years and since all living things have carbon they can use it to deduce the age of the fossil by looking at how much carbon-14 is left. But now they commonly use uranium-235 which has a longer half life so that's easier to calculate. You never see a creationist paleantologist(except for Louis Agassiz) he died before carbon dating was discovered btw if there's any other one nobody can take then seriously Another thing is genetics. All life on earth uses a three letter code to produce 20 standard amino acids. That tells us that all life on earth has common descent. We have 1-4% DNA of Neanderthals an extinct species of hominid,The bat’s wing, seal’s flipper, cat’s paw, and human hand all have the same bones and muscles because they all share a common ancestor. For example, giraffes have the same number of neck vertebrae as humans, seven. It's honestly fascinating. Even in embryology all life in an embryo start similarly. All humans take in the characteristics of their ancestral species at first. Creationists say this is a lie but it's not. We all grow hair called lanugo but it is replaced with our vellus hairs later doing the end of pregnancy. We all grow gill arches, a tail, eyes on the sides of the head, a tube-shaped heart, and ear-bones in the jaw during development, all of which vanish in later development. Another thing is avatisms gill arches, a tail, eyes on the sides of the head, a tube-shaped heart, and ear-bones in the jaw during development, all of which vanish in later development. These are not random mutations cuz they don't show any form of harm. Even the worlds hairest dude is basically really hairy like apelike hairy. Another thing is islands. You find animals in islands that you don't find any anywhere else on earth. We would expect this from islands animals are left to evolve in different ways. We have seen a lot of transitional fossils since fossils don't occur regularly we can't see them all one of the most renowned is the archaeopteryx and the only fossil which was a hoax was piltdown man which was exposed by the same evolutionists not creationists. Another thing is human skin colour. Humans rely on sunlight to generate vitamin D. As humans migrated north, they recieved less sunlight; therefore, natural selection favored lighter skin that produced more vitamin D in response to sunlight.btw we weren't able to drink milk before but we are now that's an example of convergent evolution. We have vestigial organs a very good example is the appendix and cocyx. The cocyx served at a tailbone before. Another thing is flightless birds mist flightless birds live in isolated enviroments without mammals or reptiles so they lost the ability to fly and their wings are vestigial organs. Speaking of vestigial things lets move to reflexes From birth until five or six months of age, human infants will instinctually grasp things that brush their palms. This is a vestigial reflex from our primate ancestors who had fur to which infants could cling. humans have produced a wide variety of dogs in many shapes and sizes by selecting for traits in just 10,000 years. There are actually a lot another thing us marsupial animals the Noahs ark story will make no sense to you if you know about marsupial animals that have pouches. They are mostly found in Australia except for possums in America. How would marsupials have come and gone back to Australia from mount ararat and we won't see any fossils along the way. Evolutionists say they mustb have lived in North America before a few mist have migrated to Australia through Antarctica and they were right cuz when they checked Antarctica they found marsupial fossils. They were separated by continental drift. There are a lot of compelling evidence that you can't overlook. Sadly macroevolution isn't fast enough to happen in our lifetime but small changes get bigger over time. Read about the Darwin finches in the Galapagos island. Evolution is like forensic science. You weren't there but the traces of evidence would lead to to the scene. I reccomend evolution for dummies. It's not like dummies dummies that's the name of the book series I have a lot of them from calculus to c++ you can also check out why evolution is true by jerry Coyne the greatest show on earth by Richard Dawkins( the book not the show) and the classic on the origin of species by Charles Darwin. Thanks

I'm pretty sure people during thy black plague thought the world was going to end soon. If you have heard about the tragedy of the black plague you'd won't have said that no offence though

So are you really asking which christains are still being persecuted today?

Even in the face of boko haram, Isis, al qaeda, north korea and atheist persecution and all what is happening around you?

For real?

And also please go check the rate at which earthquakes and pestilences were recorded before and after Jesus and come back with a conclusion.

Then see if u can write off these prophecies, the way u r trying to do now
earthquakes where higher in the 19th century than now at the time they were earthquakes of like magnitude 12 same with hurricanes. Fun fact: These things also happen in other planets

The one world religion. The Catholic Pope Francis, has been making great efforts in uniting all religions 'the UNIFIED FAITH'. Recently one of the largest religious gathering in history was held. Participated by top leaders of all religious sect. Organised by the benovelent pope.

I thought we had done away with conspiracy theories these things have no evidence whatsoever. It doesn't make sense that humans that can't even agree on hiw to take action in the Syria crisis going on will be part of such a big conspiracy. Human nature can't allow this
Christianity Etc › Re: For Atheist: Come And Tell Us How Man Came Into Existence by jonbellion(m): 10:06am On Oct 15, 2016
Atheism and science aren't the same thing science is based on continuous observation and experimentation of the world around us it's just there were a lot of rekigiys scientists back in the day however they were religious cuz of the fact that they reached the limits of their scientific discoveries at that time now science has gone a long way and most of the things that were left as only explained by"God" are cancelled out as new discoveries are made. The God of the gaps argument.basically as Neil degrasse Tyson put it"if you want to keep on leaving things those can't be explained to God then God will remain a receedimg pocket of scientific ignorance as time goes on"

Since the first century the world has been predicted to end about 176 times to date. Jesus even thought it was coming at his time we really should move on and keep on exploring and finding mew things about our universe instead of apocalyptic wistful thinking

Not True!
Omniscience has to do ALSO with Foreknowledge!
Omniscience is not PREDESTINATION!

If God is Omniscient because he has Predestined us to act in a certain way, then He cannot claim we have Free Will.

However,
If God is Omniscient because he has Foreknowledge (He doesn't live in the rhelm of time so He can fast forward or reverse His views at will), then He can claim giving us Free Will and He will be correct.

Assume you invented a time machine and you saw what happens in Nigeria political environment in the year 2035. If you told everybody what you saw and come 2035, your predictions perfectly came to pass; Could it be said that you influenced or engineered the outcome?

Such is the power of Foreknowledge;

The Bible Says:
1. In the Beginning, God created the Heavens and the Earth
Many theologians say that there must have been a GAP between verse 1 & 2 because verse 2 says:
2. And the earth was without form and void and darkness was upon the face of the earth. (At least we find that water covered the earth in darkness)
3. And God said, Let there be light (Not necessary the sun but it could be...obscure)
4. God separated the light from darkness (DAY 1)

Some theologians say: the first earth was destroyed during the rebellion of Lucifer.. Including the Dynasors etc during that time.

Some theologians say the dinasors perished during Noah's flood...

But the bottom line is that Genesis concentrated on the Reactivation or repopulation of the earth.

Thanks for the Question.
besides I'm the bible how come bacteria are never mentioned. How can noahs ark explain marsupial animals. Animals that have pouches they are found exclusively in Australia except for possums. Now how would that have gotten to the ark? And how would they have gotten back to Australia from mount aratat in turkey and we didn't notice any fossils along the way. Some didn't make home in any country. It doesn't add up it makes no sense on the other hand the theory of plate tectonics(continental drift) and then a type of evolution called convergent evolution explains this per-fect-ly 100%

And besides in the bible God took 2 days to create the earth but 1 day to create the stars... Really undecided from that alone it was obvious that the people in that time thought stars where just little dots in the sky.

Yo I was just going through this thread anyway I'm agnostic I honestly don't know but I do know that the universe can't be 6-10000 years old. This is because we can see light in space that's more than 6000 years old and it isn't supposed to be so cuz there wont be enough time to for the light to get to earth. You see the cool thing is when you're looking in space you aren't seeing things as they are but as they were. You're looking back in time cuz the speed of light is constant about 130 000m/s that's very fast in earth but in the vacuum of space it won't travel that fast enough in far distances. In other words the andromeda galaxy and even or second nearest star proxima centura aren't supposed to exist iono if you're getting my drifr

Hello I was just looking through this thread basically free will and an omimiscient being are mutually exclusive cuz an all knowing god knows what you'll do before you do it l. And another thing besides if the earth and universe are like 6000-10000 years old as creationists claim then why can we see light that's more than 6000 years. We know the speed of light is constant about 150000m\s so basically there isn't supposed to be enough time to see the most distant galaxies or even proxima centuri our second nearest star because when you're looking at light in space you aren't seeing them how they are but how they were. Your looking back in time to when they were earlier stars or bodies. We're supposed to see light at least 4- 6000 light years away if the universe is young ave in the creation account in the bible God created the earth before the stars and he uses a day cuz the people in that time obviously thought the stars where just little dots in the sky. I'm agnostic I just simply don't know is all every scientific branch points to a very old universe and not how the bible portrayed it
