In his book titled “Concerning the Government of Our Country and Neighboring Countries in the Sudan”, Nigeria’s first Mahdi, Sheik Usman Dan Fodio, who is the father of the Fulani Caliphate and leader of the 1804 jihad that overwhelmed and conquered what is now known as northern Nigeria wrote: “The government of a country is the government of its king without question. If the king is a Muslim, his land is Muslim; if he is an unbeliever, his land is a land of unbelievers. In these circumstances it is obligatory for anyone to leave it for another country”. Could this strange and primitive rationale be the reason for the creeping attempt to wipe out Christianity, destroy the Church, slaughter Christians, Islamise the faithful and enslave the people of the south and Middle Belt in our country today? Could this be the ethos and philosophical bedrock and foundation of the imperative of Islamic domination and Fulani rule? Have we finally discovered the intellectual Holy Grail of Fulani raison d’etra? This brings me to a number of other questions which many harbour but few dare to ask. The southern region of Nigeria has not had a Chief Justice of the Federation in 30 years and now that one has been nominated by the National Judicial Council our core northern President Muhammadu Buhari has simply refused to confirm him. The question may be asked, what is the south’s portion in Nigeria? Such is the suspicion, bedlam and utter turmoil in our nation today that some are of the view that the solution to the problems of Nigeria is not just restructuring but a total break up of the country. They believe that restructuring may be a good first step but the final destination has to be a total and complete break up and divorce. They argue that this can he done peacefully and quietly or it will eventually be done violently and in a very messy way. They say that the sooner we do it the easier it will be and that the longer we delay it the more messy it will be. Whether one agrees or disagrees with them one thing is clear: we are sitting on a keg of gunpowder and we ALL know it. It is just that we like to pretend. The bottom line is this: things cannot go on the way they are. Some believe that we should let the four “liberal” zones (south-west, south-south, south- east and north-central) come together and form one nation and let the north-west and north- east zone either go and merge with Chad and Niger Republic or form their own country. They argue that we should let the Christians, the Shiite Muslims and the core northern ethnic minority tribes that presently live in the north- east and north-west, if they wish, to relocate, move to the Middle Belt (north-central) and remain with us in Nigeria. Interestingly this mass relocation and migration process was executed in India when she broke into two and Pakistan was formed just after she got her independence from the British. Millions of Muslims who resided in India moved north to the other side of the country that was to be later called Pakistan whilst millions of Hindus who resided in the area that was to be later called Pakisan relocated from there and moved all the way south to the area that continued to be referred to as India. Given the terrible carnage that took place between the Hindus and the Muslims in India before the break-up the whole thing worked rather well and saved millions of lives. This was the case even though there were three border wars between the two countries not too long after the division and tensions exist between them until today. Yet had it not been for the break-up the number of casualties would have been far higher and the victims of the fratricidal butchery which took place would have been primarily the civilian population, including women and children, rather than just the soldiers. Some believe that we in Nigeria must take a cue from the Indian, and later Sudanese, examples. They believe that we must break Nigeria into two before we kill each other to the last man and woman. They believe that it is either we negotiate this and let it be done in an equitable, reasonable, respectful and orderly manner or we will end up having a violent, brutal, bloody and long ethnic war in this country which will result in the final balkanisation and break up of Nigeria into no less than four or more pieces. Whichever way we cannot be compelled to stay in a nation that is controlled by our collective oppressors and those that believe that killing others that do not share their faith or belong to their ethnic group or religious sect for much longer. They have sucked the nations blood dry and killed the host body that they have fed fat on for the last 56 years. They have killed the spirit of Nigeria and sacrificed her unity on the alter of greed, hate, religious intolerance, political domination and false notions of ethnic supremacy. Their hegemony is an affront to the Living God and it stands against the natural order of things. It is time for them to go or to be thrown out. It is only after this happens that we can achieve our full potentials as a nation and that our people can be truly blessed. Those that control the country and believe that they own it will NEVER allow restructuring because it defeats the object of their purpose. Given that, it is very clear that we are heading for the rocks because the generation of southern and Middle Belt Nigerans that come after mine refuse to accept the notion that they are nothing but glorfied slaves and second class citizens. My generation and those that came before it were far more ready to compromise with the evil, accept that bogus notion and just contiue to hope for the best. The result is that we are still waiting and hoping whilst the grip of our internal colonial masters and their power is greater today than it has EVER been. Meanwhile thousands of southerners, Shiite muslims, Middle Belters and northern Christians have been slaughtered at the altet and are being butchered by the sponsored ethnic militias that are known as the Fulani herdsmen. One must ask, how long are we going to continue watching this evil silently and just keep hoping for the best? This sort of thing can only happen in Nigeria. If people had been subjected to such barbarity and wickedness in any other country in the world there would have been international outrage and violent reactions long ago. Yet in Nigeria we respond to it with nothing but indifference and silence in the name of political correctness. It is truly pathetic. The truth is that this “political correctness” will kill us if we dont kill it first. We must be prepared to say the things that we say to one another behind closed doors publicly as well. The country needs a dose of truth to heal its wounds and it also needs focused, strong, honest and decisive leadership. Those that believe that they were born to kill us at will and rule us in perpetuity must either accept that they are not our ethnic masters and stop all this barbarity or they must go. The truth is that the whole country is ready to explode. We the older men are the ones that are just still talking. The younger ones stopped talking long ago and now they are preparing for war. I have travelled to many parts of this country in the last few weeks and months and what I saw and heard scared me. And I dont scare easily. We must try to keep a lid on it and talk our way out of this mess before the bullets start flying and reason and rational thinking goes out of the window. Those that believe that they own Nigeria are the greatest obstacle to national cohesion and no one else. The rest of us can work out our differences, keep our four zones, devolve power from the centre and establish a 21st century secular modern nation-state where we are all equal, where the rule of law prevails and where islamic fundamentalism and ethnic domination has no place. We must also work out our differences in the south. It is the division amongst the southerners that feeds and fuels core northern hegemony. We must all make concessions and set our differences aside and come together as one againt our collective adversaries. If we cannot do that and we allow historical differences and rivalries to abide and flourish then frankly we deserve to remain as the slaves that they have turned us into. Let us hope that good reason prevails and that we make the right choices. Let us hope that we are guided by God and His Holy Spirit in all our endeavours. Let us hope that we can muster the courage to say “no more” to ethnic and religious cleansing, mass murder, bondage, servitude and tyranny. Kanu said: “I will not be tried in the secret, this is not a Sharia court, I must be tried in an open court!” kanu snapped back at Justice Nyako. The chants continued outside, with prison and police officer making calls for reinforcement. dikerebel:To bring a lasting solution to the dispute in the region |
FORTY-ONE days after the coastal states of Niger Delta under the auspices of Pan Niger Delta Forum, PANDEF, led by former Federal Commissioner for Information, Chief Edwin Clark, met with President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja, the people are still unsure of Mr. President’s frame of mind. Though the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, had consistently re-assured that the President was ready to tackle the issues raised by the stakeholders from the oil region but was disturbed if they were capable of reining in the boys still bombing pipelines as of the date of meeting, PANDEF remained uncomfortable many weeks after with the apparent game of wits. A top member of PANDEF told Sunday Vanguard in Asaba at the weekend: “Recently, we heard that the Federal Government was proposing a former Chief of Army Staff, General Theophilus Danjuma (retd), to head its Negotiating Team. We also heard that the security chiefs and some ministers were meeting over the matter. We do not really know what the stand of the government is on this matter. The prickly situation PANDEF found itself was not helped by the hostile response that trailed the meeting with Mr. President. There was jostling before and after the meeting on representation from different interest groups. Since the November 1 meeting, some ethnic nationalities have grumbled about the activities of PANDEF. The third General Assembly of PANDEF, held December 9 in Asaba, capital of Delta State, provided the right ambience for stakeholders to appraise the meeting with Buhari, recent developments in the region and overall prevailing political and economic situations in the country. Clark, whose address was adopted as a working paper by the assembly, explained that Co-chairman of the Central Working Committee, CWC, of PANDEF and former governor of Akwa Ibom State, Obong Victor Attah, and Secretary, CWC, Ledum Mitee, were unavoidably absent because of their participation in the session by the Senate on the Petroleum Industry Bill, PIB. He stated that even though the region had not heard from the President on the way forward, the November 1 meeting with him in Abuja was a success, as it broke the ice. The presence of the CWC Co-chairman, HRM King Alfred Diete Spiff, who led a separate Niger Delta delegation to visit Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, and made fresh demands after PANDEF had met with Buhari, assuaged the fears of many. Diete Spiff, who briefed the assembly on the meeting with the President, explained that there was no split in PANDEF under the leadership of Clark, pointing out that the meeting with the Vice President had been previously arranged and the demands presented by the group were not different from these PANDEF presented to Buhari. He said the group was not a new body outside PANDEF and had no name. He restated his commitment to PANDEF, which, he said, was incontrovertible. The assembly was attended by about 200 delegates from the various ethnic nationalities in the region, including, academician and scholar, Prof B I C Ijomah, a former military governor of Akwa Ibom State, Air Commodore Ndogesit (retd.) Nkanga, Ambassador Godknows Igali, and a former National Chairman of Traditional Rulers of Oil Minerals Producing Communities of Nigeria, TROMPCON, HRM Charles Ayemi-Botu. Others at the meeting were the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom in Delta State, His Royal Majesty Emmanuel Sideso, Ibenanaowei of Bomo kingdom Bayelsa state, HRM King Joshua Igbugburu, HRM Anthony Ogbogbo of Ozoro Kingdom, Delta state, HRM Joesph Timighaan of Ogulagha kingdom, Delta state, paramount ruler of Ikot Abasi, Akwa Ibom state, HRM, Edidem Udo Ntuk Obom and Col Paul Ogbebor (retd.) from Edo state. Also there were Senator Stella Omu, Senator Aniete Okon, chairman of Bayelsa State Council of Elders, Chief Francis Doukpolagha and Dr. Monday Okony (Rivers state). Delta state governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, who accepted to host the meeting at the eleventh hour, was represented by one of his commissioners, Mr. Henry Sakpra. In a communiqué, jointly signed by Clark and Diete Spiff after the meeting, PANDEF reiterated its avowed resolve and commitment to dialogue as the preferred means of resolution of the crisis in the Niger Delta region and expressed its deepest concern that the Federal Government has not shown enough readiness to embrace such dialogue through the setting up of its own Negotiating Team. PANDEF, therefore, called on the Federal Government to as a matter of urgency, set up its team to negotiate with PANDEF. It restated its belief that “military operations cannot be the means to resolving the lingering issues stemming from age-old neglect and injustice in the Niger Delta region,” and worry that ‘Operation Crocodile Smile, Operation Python Dance,’ etc. “can only exacerbate the agitations, human right abuses and overall insecurity in the region and calls for the immediate halt to such activities.” The group said it received reports of the escalating military buildup and indiscriminate military operations in the Niger Delta region and “condemns the recent military raids in several Niger Delta communities, including the reported indiscriminate shooting, mass arrest of youths and destruction of properties of innocent villagers in Yeghe community, in Ogoni, Rivers State on the 15th November, 2016; Okosugbene fishing Camp aka 9000, Burutu local government and Sandfield II, Warri Corner in Warri South local government, both of Delta State, on the 24th of November, 2016.” PANDEF called on all Niger Deltans, especially the youths, not to be provoked into taking any action that could disrupt the exiting peace, , which has helped to raise the crude oil production in Nigeria from 900bopd to the present 2.2mbopd as recently confirmed by the Minister of State Petroleum Resources, in spite of these unfortunate developments. The group further urged the Federal Government to direct the immediate takeoff of the Nigerian Maritime University Okerenkoko, Delta state, as a follow-up to its recent policy statement on the issue during the visit of PANDEF to Mr. President on the 1st of November 2016, saying: “This will give enormous credibility and commitment to the proposed dialogue process.” It thanked Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, for the warm hospitality accorded its delegates from across the region and for providing a convivial atmosphere for the meeting. The Federal Government’s argument all the while for the delay in appointing a Negotiation Team was that Niger Delta was not ready because the militants were still bombing. Buhari capitalized on it during his meeting with PANDEF when he told the group that he would want to discuss with people who could guarantee that the boys would not be bombing while talks were on. In the past few weeks, there had been respite in the region. Speaking on the matter at the Asaba meeting, Clark said: “Unfortunately, as I speak, we have not heard from the Federal Government. Tension is rising again.” He explained that the present peace in the region and rise in oil production were as a result of the intervention of the leaders and not due to military operations as some persons claimed. The jab at the meeting was the courageous manner Clark took on those accusing PANDEF of misleading the region and accusing him of instigating and sponsoring militants. He also upbraided the youths in the habit of addressing elders without respect. He also took governors allegedly spending 13 per cent Derivation Fund at their whims and caprices to the cleaners and tongue-lashed South-South governors for quarreling among themselves, while governors from other regions were meeting and discussing issues of common development. On the allegation that he is the father of militants, he said: “I am going to be 90 years old and I do not think it will be fair for anyone to accuse me of instigating or sponsoring pipeline vandalisation or militancy. I did not do such thing as a young man, and I will not do it now that I am in the departure lounge, waiting for my boarding pass.” The PANDEF leader told those insinuating that PANDEF is an Ijaw group: “I want to use this medium to educate people who are making mischievous statements that PANDEF is a group that belongs to one ethnic group in the region, or made up of a group of corrupt politicians, who are also the instigators of the crisis, that the claim is very untrue, unpatriotic and vicious.” “It is one of the tactics of people who would want to create division in the region; I plead with all to put hands together to save our region, which is highly endangered. We may have our differences at home, but national issues affecting our destiny, must naturally too, bring us together. Rev. Paul Ojoh, the Resident Pastor, Shepherd House Assembly International, Jos has said that pornography and masturbation could affect the brain and impede productivity. “Those twin evils could hurt the brain and impede productivity because of the cumulative negative effects of addiction to them,” he stated on Sunday in Jos, during a sermon at the Youth Conference of the Church. In the sermon titled: ‘Dealing with Forces of Addiction’, he noted that a high percentage of youths suffer addiction mostly to pornography and masturbation.“ Research has shown that more than 50 per centof youths are addicted to pornography, while 60 to 90 per cent of adolescent boys and 40 per cent of adolescent girls are addicted to masturbation. “ These addictions are sins against nature; the right hemisphere of the brain functions in facilitating creativity and inventions and a portionof the brain called ‘cingulate codex, is responsible for moral and ethical decisions.“ So, when you feed your brain with masturbation and pornographic materials, it impedes your productivity and affects the efficiency of your brain which is designed to perform the task of creativity and invention,’’ he explained. “ So, when you feed your brain with masturbation and pornographic materials, it impedes your productivity and affects the efficiency of your brain which is designed to perform the task of creativity and invention,’’ he explained.Ojoh said that the remedy to such addictions wasacknowledging that addicts could not fight the battle of emancipation alone, and therefore required divine intervention to see them through. “Addicts of masturbation must admit that they cannot overcome their battles alone. They must accept that it is only possible with the divine intervention of God.“It is important you avoid anything that triggers such addictions; these are things that you see and read that pollute your mind towards it like movies, magazines and places“ You must renew your mind and feed it with the word of God to fight addictive materials that haveoccupied the space of your mind.“Addicts should also seek counsel from people of integrity, who will counsel them and monitor them through their recovery process,’’ he said.He said that addictions could also enslave a man, put him in bondage and regulate the lifestyle of the affected person or persons, whichcould subjugate potentialities. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the clergy, who defined addiction as a repeated habit which becomes a lifestyle, mentioned othernegative addictions to include the internet, food, sex, alcohol, amongst others. The youth conference featured comedies, drama plays and special renditions from the Choir.(NAN) |
The Managing Director of the BeninElectricity Distribution Company, Olufunke Osibodu, has urged Nigerians not to expect any improvement in the power sector in the next five years. Speaking at the 11th Annual Founder’s Day event of the American University of Nigeria in Yola, Saturday, Mrs. Osibodu said at least N250 billion is required annually to fix the country’s electricity sector. “And we Nigerians need to understand that we cannot do it overnight, and in addition we have to pay for it,” said Mrs. Osibodu, while delivering the keynote speech titled ‘Beyond Oil: Sustainable Development for All Nigerians. “We need to be ready as citizens also, to accept and live with the pain that we have to go through, and allow time as our friends. “As Nigerians, often we are the ones that deceive our politicians. The politicians believe that the onlyway to go is to promise everything immediately possible. Promise thateverything is possible today so thatthey can get elected. But when you see that it is not, so we want to give them time and use time as ourfriends. “It is the same story for the power industry. When I tell my friends, that forget any improvement for the next five years, they are scared, but that is the truth. We need minimum of five years to invest before we see results. “But very often, because Nigerians are impatient, we start pushing our governments and they start reversing good things they have done in various ways. So we need to be more patient.” Mrs. Osibodu’s statements came despite the claim earlier in the yearby Babatunde Fashola, the ministerof Power, Works, and Housing, thatthe country would attain 10,000 megawatts electricity generation by 2019.Apart of challenges of generation, Nigeria also has problems of transmission and distribution of the generated electricity.According to Mrs. Osibodu, Nigeriais currently producing two percent of the total electricity it requires.“In addition, in this country we have32 million household population. Inother words, 32 million houses by statistics. But on the national grid, only four million are officially customers of the various distribution companies.“About 36 per cent of the power generation is lost either through commercial theft, illegal consumption, or non-payment of bills. But 14 per cent of that power is also lost through very poor network.“In other words, the two percent that we have is even further played down. Ghanaians will be holding their presidential election on December 7 and Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti is warningthem against making a wrong decision. The controversial Nigerian governor says Ghanaians must not take the party with the ‘change’ mantra serious like Nigerians did in 2015. head of the December 7 presidential election in Ghana,Governor Ayodele Fayoseof Ekiti has issued a warning to the country not to make the same mistake made by Nigerians in the 2015 presidential election. According to Fayose, the mistake Nigerians made was voting for change, which has brought hunger, sufferings and economic recession to the country, such that even theentire West African sub-region is being affected. In a statement by his spokesperson, Lere Olayinka, Fayose said:“By buying into the All Progressives Congress (APC) message of change, Nigerians are now facing a kind of hunger and suffering never experienced in the country in the last 30 years and Ghanaians must not fall into that kind of trap.” The statement made available to NAIJ.comsaid the governor made the call while playing host to some men of God from Ghana on Saturday, November 19. “Ghanaians should not succumb to the deceit of the opposition party that are calling for a change of government. Rather, they should return the incumbent President,John Mahama, who has no doubt done creditably well to deserve a re-election.“Ghanaians should know that the change in Nigeria brought hunger, suffering, disregardfor the rule of law as well as arrest and detention of Nigerians without trial and be mindful of those preaching change to them.“Most importantly, the situation in Ghana at present is similar to that of Nigeria. Like President Mohammadu Buhari, opposition party, New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo has contested the presidency two times.“This is the third time he is contesting. He isalso 74 year-old. “In Nigeria, change is synonymous with economic recession that is even getting to the level of depression. Even majority of those who brought the change are now regretting it.“Therefore, tell your people in Ghana that Nigerians are already regretting the change they made last year, which has plunged the country into serious economic hardship.“Tell them to learn from Nigerians and reject those preaching message of change to them. They should hold on to the government that they have now and beware of a change that will take their country to economic recession.”

Investigations by detectives have revealed huge cash payments to Supreme Court Justices, members of the management and staff of the apex court. The payments were reportedly done through a secret account with outrageous allowances paid to the judiciary outside the approved allowance by the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC). Recent investigations by detectives have revealed huge cash payments to Supreme Court Justices, members of the management and staff of the apex court, The Nation is reporting. The payments were reportedly done through a secret account with outrageous allowances paid to the judiciary outside the approved allowance by the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).The allowances include cash for justices and management staff during festivities, especially Easter, Christmas, Ramadan and Eid-el Kabir. The breakdown of what the past and present CJN and Justices have been receiving since 2009 is as follows: Salary—N750,000 (paid into account of each Justice); N750,000 monthly subsidy—(payment in cash); N950,000 quarterly subsidy (payment in cash); £10,000 (estacode) for trips (payment in cash);$25,000 (medical fees yearly (payment in cash); Unspecified payment for Business Class to them and spouses in cash depending on airline; $750 per night for number of days abroad in cash; N350,000 cash as welfare for each of the festivities (Easter, Christmas, Ramadan, Eid-el-Kabir); Chief Registrar—N700,000 as robe allowance; N200,000 for each of the festivities (in cash); and other lawyers—N500,000 as yearly dress allowance (In cash). RMAFC approvals for CJN and the Justices as including regular salary and allowances: Monthly Basic Salary; Vehicle Maintenance/Fuelling; Personal Assistant; Domestic Staff; Entertainment; Utilities; Outfit; and Newspapers/Periodicals. Speaking with a top security source, the source said;“Detectives have unearthed all manner of allowances which were paid and still being paid to Supreme Court Justices since 2009 from a Secret/Illegal/ Operation Account. “Their Non-Regular Salary and allowances include: Accommodation (once annually); furniture (once in four years); annual leave bonus; severance/gratuity (after successfultenure); vehicle loan (optional); Duty Tour Allowance per night (where applicable) and Estacode per night (where applicable). “In fact, one of the arrested Justices was in December 2014 paid N2million as a mark ofwelfare from the court to support him for his daughter’s wedding. “So, we discovered a lot of discrepancies in the allowances being paid to the past Chief Justices of Nigeria and Justices of the Supreme Court since 2009. Even four of theJustices who are beneficiaries of the monetisation policy still earned double allowances. “Technically, everyone was paid all these unauthorised allowances from the operation account based on the computation of the management. Nobody knows how the allowances were arrived at. “And the situation has not changed. We have documents showing that all the Justices were paid N910, 000 in April and N710, 000 in May as allowances.” On the status of the Operation Account, a document confirmed that one of the officials of the Supreme Court told DSS interrogators: “All these payments, except the salary, are paid in cash to the Justices which they signed for collection. I am awarethat has been the tradition but I am not sureof any written authority backing the payment. “None of the Justices has ever, to my knowledge, refused payment of medical fees given to them.”But the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court, Ahmed Gambo Saleh has denied involvement in any fraud or sharp practices in the apex court. He said he was never involved in any bribe deal or in the management of Operation Account.“I have never directed anyone to pay the sum of either N12million or N18million to any Justice of the Supreme Court. I am aware the practice of cash payment is not in line with financial regulations but that has been the tradition I met in the court.“But on assuming office, I stopped cash payments to staff; all payments are now paid into their accounts. The Operation Account is in Ahmed Fagbenro’s name (the Cashier); I don’t know how much is the balance in the account,”he said.

Pythons are a species of snakes from the boa family, but with certain characteristics that make them different. They feed on warm-blooded animals, wrapping them with their body and asphyxiating them. They tend to be harmless. A few months ago, a python was found dead in South Africa. Its belly was swollen in an uncommon way. All the central part of its body was very swollen. Vets were suspecting the damage was done by another animal, but they never imagined what it really was. To discover what had caused the snake’s death, the vets practiced an autopsy and found something unexpected. The python had a porcupine inside. The porcupine was 31 inches long and weighed29 pounds. The porcupine’s spines had torn all the python’s entrails. The mammal was already dead. It was a surprise for all to discover what was inside the python. source:https://www.naij.com/1052598-cp-piton-vs-puercoespin.html?_e_pi_=7%2CPAGE_ID10%2C2912202404
