The governors, led by Borno state Governor and chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum, also held a meeting with Gayle Smith, administrator of the multi million dollars United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

The meetings focused on deepening collaboration on conflicts elimination, prevention, humanitarian aide and partnerships on the solving development factors responsible ‎for recurring ethno-religious violence in northern Nigeria.Governor Darius Ishaku ‎of Taraba, Dalong of Plateau, Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara, AbdulAziz Yari of Zamfara, Bindo Jibrilla of Adamawa, Muhammad Abdullahi Abubakar of Bauchi, Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger, Kashim Shettima of Borno, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokotoand Deputy Governor of Kano State, Professor Hafiz Abubakar who is representing Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano State were among those present.

The ten governors onbegan a three-day symposiumon Tuesday, October 18, organized by the United States Institute of Peace, which is an agency established and funded by the United States Government with headquarters in Washington DC.The symposium focuses on addressing conflicts and under-development in Northern Nigeria.It was reported earlier that the governors who are worried that their trip might be perceived by Nigerians as a jamboree amidst the biting economic recession, demanded from their host’s practical benefits of the symposium as would make positive impacts on the majority of citizens across the 19 Northern States.

A man who had obviously become fed up with certain life’s vicissitudes, has caused serious stir in his community after hanging himself on a tree.

A man’s dead body has been found hanging from a tree causing some commotion in the area.The dead body was discovered by a man identified as Joseph Masinya.Accordong to Daily Sun SA, Joseph was busy with his day to day duties on a bright afternoon when he saw something hanging from a tree!The 54-year-old gardener at Cosmo City West Primary School, Joburg,South Africa, said when he got closer he realised that it was a man. He had used a shoelace to hang himself.“In all the 10 years I have been helping at this school I have never seen anything like this.“In fact I’ve never seen a dead man hanging in a tree except in movies. But, of all places that one could do this, why a schoolyard?“This is going to traumatise the little ones a lot. I’m not even sure if the children will be able to come into this yard.”He said it was about 9am when he discovered the body that appeared to be that of a young man in his 30s.“He was wearing a green top, red T-shirt, black track P@nts and red Nike takkies.”Some residents around the school were not convinced that the man died from hanging himself with a shoelace. One resident at the scene said it was totally impossible for a shoelace to hold that weight.“This person weighs a lot.The shoelace would have snapped on the spot if he had really used it to hang himself.“I believe there is somebody behind this horrible action.”None of the residents recognised the dead man and believe that he was from another section of Cosmo City.Honeydew police said they are looking for familymembers or anyone who might assist them to identify the man.An inquest has been opened and police are investigating the matter.

A wild bear was pulled out of a 3-meter-deep toilet in Tibet Autonomous Region, China, after allegedly being trapped inside the toilet for over 10 days. The bear was discovered by tourists in a Village.

Pictures uploaded online show that the bear’s eyes had seemingly been damaged – allegedly wounded by villagers – while it struggled to leave the toilet, which was sealed with cement walls.

According to an Oct. 20 post on Sina Weibo, the bear had been trapped in the toilet for 10 days before any rescue efforts were arranged. The post has been shared by more than 2,800 netizens as of press time.The online plea for rescue was heard and answered the same day by the State Administration of Forestry. The administration wrote on its official Weibo account that the bear could not be pulled out of the toilet directly, since it was sitting in a densely populated village. However, until proper arrangements could be made, the bear was fed and watched over by 10 villagers and five forestry officials.The Administration of Forestry added that the bear would be rescued on Oct. 21, and a cage is prepared to humanely transport the bear while keeping locals safe. Officials will work to guarantee the bear’s safety and ensure that it can return to nature as soon as possible.
