Twoclans: Evening newspaper is a derogatory word common in nairaland.I am not so sure I have heard that word used on anyone outside nairaland. This might be because I am not active anywhere else.
The world will not come to your beck and call if you make the worst mistake a human being can make in life which is choosing a wrong and incompatible partner for marriage. That is when you would know that been called an evening newspaper is sexy.
Ageing is not gender specific, everybody ages regardless of gender.Pray tell is a man's erection at 40 years the same as 20 years? We all know the answer to that question but let's pretend it's only women that has their biological clock going down. may be a trial with someone in their 60's or 70's will prove how wrong that statement is. 👌 |

Sapasenator: Ok guys, listen let's trash this important topic and very popular phrase used very frequently on Nairaland by the guys.
In recent times I have always come across the term "evening newspaper", being used to refer to some certain individuals oftentimes the female folks on this honourable site.
The term is often used in a derogatory term to refer to ladies of a certain age group who are yet to marry.
I must confess that I find this term to be amusing and often wonder at the origin considering the fact that I am an avid reader of newspapers expecially the evening variety.
Now due to the present economic impasse in the country, we find that lots of the menfolk who are still single and yet to marry, in particular older males in their late thirties, early to mid- forties.
Can we refer to these categories of males as "evening newspapers" too.
I personally think if a man is not married at 35, he should be classified as an evening newspaper or what do you guys think.
For me, I would prefer the term not to be used at all as it is derogatory but if you insist on using them, I would say men could be evening newspapers too. Men this is the only thing that caught my attention. I can't help but laugh. |

The CBN and EFCC also need to start paying attention to many of this POS vendors. They usually overcharge and when they are asked why it is so, they will tell you, they bought the money they're using for business. Can you imagine. |

GloriousGbola: My sister is a doctor based in us. She was in ilorin last week. A friend wanted to send dollars to family in the us and she was willing to assist. I was very uncomfortable about this and told her so. I said there is always a chance someone in this person's inner circle knows about the transaction and sends robbers after you. Only way this can be done safely is if they give you the dollars at the airport.
In Nigeria, you literally cannot anyone. A man over 40 setting kidnappers on his father.
Thankfully she eventually did not go ahead.
It has become an argument between us - NINs are far more suspicious and paranoid than NIDs and we have much less faith in humanity or sympathy for the poor and needy I know this will make them brand you, very wicked and heartless. In Nigeria today, it is better to be called the above, than to be labeled 'nice and caring'.. |

Oh really. He only gave information to the kidnappers. I bet he doesn't know that is even a serious crime, by giving information to the kidnappers. Aiding and abetting.
I've often said it, many Nigerian are just too ignorant for their own good. |

Kobojunkie: Abegi, make we hear word! Come here and see those very same Nigerians who complain to you raising their kids to equally disregard other people and parents. Their kids are the same kind of arseholes they claim they hate other kids for being. the enboldened says it all. If those kids had remain here, I'm telling you they won't be behaving the way they are behaving. The kids you see in Nigeria misbehaving, are doing so as a result of failed marriage and western influence. No Nigerian child, brought up in a proper Nigerian home will misbehave the way many of the kids today are misbehaving. 2. Stop telling lies! The fact that the kids that were raised over the past 60 years are the same ones running that corrupt country into the ground today speaks volumes. Na dem are the politicians of today and many of them didn't even grow up in homes with television or fathers able to afford foreign newspapers. Your kids are not raised any better than the foreign kids are. This lie that they need to die! Which lie am I telling. Are we talking about failed marriages and the corruption of Nigeria politicians? You're mixing it up. An adult is an adult, and thus, responsible for any action he takes. 3. Stop lying! which lie am I telling? You seem like someone who doesn't like reading the truth. You should change your ways, you know. Kobojunkie: The fact that marriage today is struggling means the measures and ideas implemented around marriage in the past have failed and new ideas are needed. which fact do you have that marriage is struggling? You're using the nonsense you read on social media to back up your claim? That's not very wise. |
Family › Re: Marriage Is Gradually Losing Its Relevance by joseph1832(m): 10:17pm On Apr 15, 2024 |
Kobojunkie: Essentially you argue that sacrificing one's own happiness and quality of life for the sake of the children— an idea which failed those before you— is the idea which you are still attempting to sell those of this generation even after they have more than learned that it is typically one of the partners in the marriage that does much of that sacrificing at the end of the day?
You are a comedian, aren't you? how did you know it failed those before me? Can you provide evidence to back up your claim? |
Family › Re: Marriage Is Gradually Losing Its Relevance by joseph1832(m): 10:14pm On Apr 15, 2024 |
Kobojunkie: Oyibo kids are far better than your Nigerians children. Ask anyone who lives in Oyibo land to tell you the truth. believe me, I've asked, and the complain I hear is heart breaking. Oyibo kids can't be better than our naija kids. The kids you see misbehaving and doing all sort of nonsense in naija, is as a result of copying the warp behavior of oyibo kids. No right thinking Nigeria kid, who is well brought up in a proper home, can be compared to any oyibo kid(s) |

donbenie: That is the difference between you lot and Oyinbo.. Pretence.. You will rather die in a bad marriage, than have the guts to walk away and live.. and live at the expense of your damaged kids? This is why oyibo kids turn out to be exactly what they are today. |

Kobojunkie: WOW.... Are you actually admitting to the fact that the suffering of the married tends to outweigh that of the unmarried in many Nigerian scenarios? I'm actually admitting that the married, getting their heads outta their asses, and knowing the happiness of their kids, is paramount and far outweigh their own happiness is amongst the key to successful marriage |
Family › Re: Marriage Is Gradually Losing Its Relevance by joseph1832(m): 9:20pm On Apr 15, 2024 |
donbenie: Number of successful ones? You meant the suffering and smiling lot of co-habiters, tolerating each other? Ogbeni, the only thing holding many marriages in Nigeria are children and what people will say. now this is the essence of marriage. People like you believe there's such a thing like perfect marriage, when infact, there isn't. This is were you miss it all. |

donbenie: Go to the villages? The same villages that has broken marriages and baby mamas strewn everywhere? compare the number of baby mamas and broken marriages to the number of successful ones. Beside, the baby mamas and baby daddy's along with those with broken marriages, how are they treated. |
