Nigeria has lost it all if we still have people supporting a court system whose judgements are based on public sentiments and opinions.

God forbid Nigeria, her courts and her electoral processes...

From frying pan to fire.

If the courts do not uphold justice... Tir!

There's this current trend in Nigeria where courts will delay delivery of judgement pending the outcome of another event that may have direct or indirect impact on the perception and mood of populace. This scenario happened during CBN VS GOVERNORS case over the Naira crisis, where the court had to delay till the end of the 2023 election to give final judgement.

Do you think the same thing will play out in the LP-OBI/ATIKU-PDP VS. INEC/APC-TINUBU.

And is this trend good for our dear country.

Education / Re: Register Our Union Now, ASUU’s Rival, CONUA Tells FG by joshua442(m): 7:36am On Aug 22, 2022
The direct implication of no work no pay policy in the present circumstance is that 2021/2022 session stands cancelled or at least a semester and whenever the University resumes, they are resuming on a clean slate of the 2022/23 session or the second semester of the last session afresh for the following reasons:

Spilled-over students whose results are yet to get approval from Senate would not be attended to because these are academic works in arrears of (the 2021/2022 session) that government does not want to pay for.

Final year students who have written exams or are yet to write will remain on campus because their scripts will not be marked and the outstanding semester exams will not be conducted. These are academic works in arrears (2021/2022) that government does not want to pay for.

For other levels (1 to 3 or to 5 & 6 as the case may be), each student should be ready for an extra one year. If exams have been conducted for the second semester, then those students have one semester more. But if the results of the first semester have not been released, then one extra year. This is because no academic work in arrears would be attended to because the government does not want to pay for the conclusion of that academic year.

The rules of engagement of University lecturers baring some exceptional variation based on tripartite legs of; Teaching 15 – 40%, Research 40%, and Community services 20%.
So when lecturers go on strikes, it’s mainly the teaching/conduct or grading of examinations aspect that is affected, in fact, we have some academics that do not teach at all or do not have course/students to teach in some semesters.

The Minister does not seems to understand the operations of the University’s academic calendar system, rules of engagement of academics globally as well as the ILO’s concept of social justice as it affects Industrial dispute resolution.

Pets / Cool And Amazing Guinea Pigs by joshua442(m): 10:27pm On Nov 22, 2018
Average Adult Size 8 to 11 inches long
Average Life Span up to 8 years with proper care
Diet herbivore

DIET
A well-balanced guinea pig diet consists of:

High-quality guinea pig food, Timothy hay and limited amounts of vegetables and fruits.
Require 30 to 50 mg of vitamin C daily from high-quality food, vitamin supplements or fruits and vegetables high in vitamin C.
Clean, fresh, filtered, chlorine-free water, changed daily.
Do not feed chocolate, caffeine or alcohol as these can cause serious medical conditions. Avoid sugar and high-fat treats.

FEEDING
Things to remember when feeding your guinea pig:
Fresh food, Timothy hay and water should always be available.
A limited amount of vegetables and fruits can be given daily, but should not exceed 10% of their total diet.
Vegetables and fruits not eaten within 24 hours should be discarded.

HOUSING
Guinea pigs acclimate well to average household temperatures, not to exceed 80°F; be cautious of extreme temperature changes. The habitat should never be in direct sunlight or in a drafty area.
A minimum 36"L x 30"W x 18"H escape-proof habitat with a solid surface area and plenty of room for exercise and play makes a good home for one guinea pig. It is best to provide the largest habitat possible.
1 to 2" of bedding should be placed in the habitat; proper bedding includes high-quality paper bedding, crumbled paper bedding or hardwood shavings. Cedar-based products are not recommended.
Guinea pigs may be kept in same-sex pairs if they are raised together; otherwise, keep adult guinea pigs housed separately. Different types of small animals should not be housed together.

NORMAL BEHAVIOR
Easy to handle; prefers a routine and similar time for playing, feeding and resting each day.
Hides in objects, but will come out when people are near the habitat.
Chew on objects to maintain all their teeth, which grow continuously; ensure they have plenty of chew sticks or mineral chews available.

HABITAT MAINTENANCE
Clean and disinfect the habitat and its contents at least once a week with a 3% bleach solution. Rinse and allow drying completely before placing the guinea pig back into the habitat.
Remove wet spots daily; change bedding at least twice a week, or more often as necessary.

GROOMING
Guinea pigs stay clean and rarely need baths, but can be spot-cleaned with a damp washcloth or unscented baby wipes if needed.
Fur may be brushed with a soft-backed brush. Hairless guinea pigs benefit from a small amount of non-toxic aloe-based lotion rubbed onto skin to keep it soft.
Guinea pigs need their nails clipped approximately once a month.
It is normal for a guinea pig's teeth to be yellow; cleaning is not necessary.

HEALTH
Signs of a Healthy Animal
Active, alert and sociable
Eats and drinks regularly
Healthy fur and clear eyes
Breathing is unlabored
Walks normally
Communicates by squeaking

RED FLAGS

PROS AND CONS
Are guinea pigs good pets?
The answer to this question is absobloodylutely yes!

They are small and not as large as dogs. They don’t need to go on walks multiple of times a day, and if you provide a large enclosure and have a herd in there, they are also fine with being alone on their own while you are in school or at work.

They are very happy and friendly creatures, you don’t need to actively teach them anything. They usually figure out stuff on their own and they will figure out that you are the veggie person.

They are just adorable – look at them, there is no denying this. They are just so fluffy and cute and adorable.
cool

They are generally happy to see you when you come home from school or work. Maybe they hope that you feed them. But still, thy look forward to your return and it’s nice to be greeted by this chubby little faces.

Guinea pigs eating hay is one of the cutest sounds in the world, it’s great aw a background sound for setting. They are really vocal in general. So if you love pets that talk, you will definitely love guinea pigs.

Guinea pigs are great pets, they are way more active and intelligent than a lot of people give them credit for.

Guinea pigs are generally easy to tame. While guinea pigs may be nervous or skittish at first, with consistent gentle handling, they usually become tame very easily. They are unlikely to bite even when stressed.

CONS
Their enclosure needs to be cleaned regularly, you have to clip their nails and if one gets sick they might need a lot of attention especially if you have to force feed them.

You also need at least two piggies and a big cage and if you are going to be away for the rest of the day you need to make sure that you provide enough hay/feeding.

Contrary to their fluffy and cute appearance, guinea pigs don’t like being treated like stuff animals; putting them in swimming pools and dog houses or moving toy cars or whatever you see floating around Facebook is not something they enjoy. They are living creatures and like to be treated as such

If you have a lot on your plate, you still have to take care of them. Their cage still needs cleaning even if you are exhausted and they can be quite vocal if you are not fast enough with feeding.

If you are going to have your guinea pigs in your bedroom, their sound can disrupt your sleep. Guinea pigs go through phases of sleeping and being awake but they don’t sleep through the night. So they might start being super active 3:00am, eating, bickering, running around and just being really loud. So you might want to consider not sleeping in the same room with them. Of course, if you sleep through anything then this point doesn’t apply to you.

Guinea pigs eat a lot of hay. The more guinea pigs you have the more hay you need to buy. Be prepared for having to store a lot of stuff; ha, bedding, hiddys, hay racks, veggies, pellets, water cans. All these adds up pretty fast. Also, any pet will bring mess into your house so you need to clean up often.

You also have to think of the fact that they live between 7 and 8 years, some of them even up to 10 years. So, you are going to be responsible for the well-being of your guinea pigs for the next decade.

Guinea pigs are one of the few animals that cannot manufacture their own Vitamin C, so the need to get this from their diet. Choosing a good quality diet and providing a variety of fresh foods is important, but most owners choose to also give their animals Vitamin C supplements.

Agriculture / How To Make Rabbits Reproduce Very Fast by joshua442(m): 12:29am On Feb 17, 2018
Note to reader: rabbits are prolific in nature and can have up to 8 litters a year. This will require your commitment and resources. So, except you are ready for this, do not keep two mature rabbits of opposite sex together - the doe may end up getting pregnant within minutes of being together with the buck.

When breeding rabbits find out how old they are. The minimum age for breeding depends upon breed: heavy breeds take 9-12 months before they are old enough to breed; Medium breeds like New Zealand Whites are ready to breed at 6-9 months of age; while small breeds mature at 4-5 months
Too early breeding puts the doe in a dangerous position because they are not old enough to handle the strain of nursing.
One male, or buck, can service as many as ten females but he should not be used more than two or three times a week for best results.

HOW TO MATE RABBITS
The female, or doe, will probably object to having the buck placed in her cage and might attack or injure him. Therefore always place the doe in the buck's cage for mating. Do not disturb the animals and make sure people and dogs are not around. People and dogs can frighten the rabbits and they will not mate.

As a general rule, do not mate brother to sister, father to daughter or son to mother.

When the doe is placed in the buck's cage, he will probably mount her quickly. If after a few seconds the buck falls over on his side or suddenly falls backwards, mating has taken place. Often when the buck falls, he will look as if his whole body has suddenly tightened. Allow only one or two falls. Then remove the doe and place her back in her own cage.

DO NOT LET THE DOE STAY WITH THE BUCK ALL DAY LONG. If mating has not occurred within the first few minutes, remove the doe and try again after a few hours.

As soon as the doe has been mated and returned to her cage, WRITE DOWN THE DATE OF MATING on a small card attached high in the inside of the hutch. If you fail to write down the date you will not know when to feel for the young within the doe at 14 days or put a nest box in her cage before she gives birth.

Sometimes a doe will hide in the corner of the buck's cage, and he will not be able to mount her. If this happens, help the buck by holding the doe for mating. This is very easy to do.

Holding the rabbit for mating

Use either hand to hold the ears and a fold of skin over the doe's shoulders. Place your other hand under her body and between her hind legs. Place one of your fingers on each side of the tail and push gently backwards. This action will throw the doe's tail up over her back, so that the buck can quickly mount and mate her. If the doe's tail is down, the buck will not be able to mate her.

FEELING FOR YOUNG RABBITS
It is possible to feel the small, round babies inside the doe TWO WEEKS AFTER BREEDING has taken place. Keep the doe in her cage. Hold her ears and a fold of skin over the shoulders as though holding the doe for mating. Slide the other hand under her stomach with your thumb on one side of the stomach and your fingers on the other.

Gently press in on the stomach wall with your thumb and fingers and slide your hand backward and forward. If the doe is pregnant, you will be able to feel small, hard, marble shaped lumps as you slide your fingers back and forth with the stomach gently squeezed between them. This "test" is a good one, but must be practiced often to be successful.

Related: Checking for pregnancy http://jfrabbits..com/2017/06/checking-for-pregnancy-in-rabbits.html

KINDLING
Kindling is the act of giving birth. The doe will kindle 31-32 days after mating. A doe will probably eat less food two or three days before kindling. Five to seven days before the kindling date, put a small box, called a nest box, inside the doe's cage. She will give birth in this box. It is usually possible to find boxes which work very well, but if you must build a box it should be lightweight and measure about 30cm deep x 35cm wide x 20-30cm high (12" x 14" x 8-12"wink.

Place nothing in the nest box or the hutch if the weather is warm. The doe will pull fur from her stomach to make the box comfortable. If the weather is cold, place dry grass or straw in the hutch three days before kindling, and the doe will prepare her own nest.

Does usually kindle at night. As each baby is born, the doe will lick it and give it milk. Does usually give birth to 4 or 6 babies the first time. After that a doe usually produces 6-8 babies at each kindling.

One or two days after the rabbits are born, carefully look inside the box for any dead babies. Move the fur to one side with a small stick or pencil. Remove any that you find.

When the doe is with her babies, it is important to keep children and dogs from bothering her. If the doe becomes frightened she might injure her young by jumping into the box quickly and crushing them. Or, frightened does eat their babies. Does also will eat their young if they do not have enough protein food. If a doe continues to do this after a second or third time, however, she should be replaced.

The maternity hutch is just an ordinary cage as described above. You could make it a bit bigger so that you can place a nest box in it. The nest box can be placed in the back of the maternity cage.

Having done everything you thought was the solution and tried all everyone else has suggested you to do and your does are still not spewing babies, you must grab this book.

The whole idea of having a female rabbit produce plenty and healthy young children regularly for you is extremely heartwarming and very possible with rabbits if you have the right knowledge. However, Producing 1,000 rabbits or more in one year can be affected by one or a combination of the following:

1. Genetic background
2. Age of the doe
3. The season
4. Health status of doe
5. Environment

As a breeder, you have very little or no control over No. 1 and 2 above once the breeding stock have been purchased and breeding started. The only power you have to influence these 2 factors is the power of choice

Unlike science and mathematics, I have made this book so simple and so basic for all categories of readers.

Business / But Once Butchered And Cooked, Does Rabbit Even Taste Good? by joshua442(m): 12:48am On Dec 27, 2017
According to a growing legion of acclaimed American chefs, the answer is "absolutely." Touted for years by food activists including Micheal Pollan, rabbit meat compared with most other meat, such as beef, chicken, lamb and pork is high in protein and low in fat, cholesterol, and sodium. The meat is white, fine-grained, delicately flavored, nutritious, and appetizing and can be prepared in over 300 different ways.

With the uncertain economy and increasing demand for natural diets, more people in all parts of Nigeria, especially Lagos, Abuja, Ogun, and Port Harcourt are raising rabbits for meat. Rabbit meat is becoming a better and safer source of meat Protein, Calcium and phosphorus in many parts of the world with Nigeria not left out.

Are you watching your diet but cannot control your urge for meat? It's time for you to switch to rabbits. The meat is also good for you! Yes, rabbits are a healthier meat. The quality of their protein is very good, they are high in good fats, and because they are a pseudo-ruminant they have higher levels of CLAs (Conjugated Linoleic Acid) which are high in the Omega-3 fats that you find in grass fed-beef and lamb.

Do you know some with a heart disease are you obese or you know someone who is, is anyone around you down with digestive problems, do you have children or and aged granny/grandpa

This is the number one meat for those people you care about including yourself. http://jfrabbits..com/2016/01/10-reasons-why-you-should-eat-rabbit.html
Literature / When Recession Hit My Rabbit Farm by joshua442(m): 2:33am On Dec 13, 2017
What is a recession?
A recession is when the economy declines significantly for at least six months. That means there’s a drop in the following five economic indicators: real GDP (Gross Domestic Product), income, employment, manufacturing and retail sales.

People often say a recession is when the GDP growth rate is negative for two consecutive quarters or more. But a recession can quietly begin before the quarterly gross domestic product reports are out.

A recession is usually underway when there are several quarters of slowing but still positive growth. Often a quarter of negative growth will occur followed by positive growth for several quarters, and then another quarter of negative growth.

When recession hit my rabbit farm

On the evening of Aug 31, 2016 I was at a local restaurant near my apartment. A plate of pepper soup has just been placed in front of me when the voice from a television set announced that Nigeria was in a recession.

“Chai!” the men who had their eyes glued to the television chorused. Curses followed and the restaurant became noisy. The sales girl returned to my table with a bottle of malt “Oga! Maltina is N250 O!” she said to me bluntly with no apology. I asked why a bottle I have been buying for N200 suddenly became N250. “Oga you no de watch news?” was her reply. It’s the recession I guess.

I like many others had foreseen this. Our schools have been spewing out millions of unskilled graduates, dumping them in the labour market to compete. Having been through schools where their minds are so abused, they end with very low self-esteem, having little or no confidence in themselves and their abilities. These graduates in fact abhor creativity and productivity, they want instant gratification. Very few I mean very little few are willing to put the time and effort to build a new business, be innovative or to CREATE something of value that others will be willing to pay for. Their minds have been configured to be better job seekers and better government blamers.

Some of us took precautionary measures others did not. I for one did all I could, but when the recession came it felt like a final punch from Mike Tyson landing on my handsome face.

Once upon a time, my rabbit farm had 700 breeding does, 3120 weaners and a hundred bucks.

A figure head decided not to decide and a group of egocentric cabals made the wrong decisions. The Dollar kept rising while the Naira was losing value (from N150 to a Dollar – N360 to a Dollar). Our schools won’t teach us how to produce; we have become fat and potbellied from consuming foreign products. Our parents and guardians teach us to compete the wrong way. The political class keeps milking the masses dry with policies and laws that do not empower the people. Simply put ‘WE LACK LEADERSHIP!’
