7' NEWS Coronavirus: Experts wonder why Africa seems to have few cases Published February 27, 2020 Doctors treating a Coronavirus patient Source: newsdesk The coronavirus is spreading fast beyond its China birthplace but sub-Saharan Africa, one of the world’s most vulnerable regions, has so far been almost spared — and experts want to know why. More than 2,760 people worldwide have died of COVID-19 and almost 81,000 infected in over 45 countries. Most of these have been in China, but cases are now rising fast in parts of Europe and the Middle East, while the first infection in Latin America was recorded on Wednesday, in Brazil. Most of these have been in China, but cases are now rising fast in parts of Europe and the Middle East, while the first infection in Latin America was recorded on Wednesday, in Brazil. But across all of Africa, just two cases have surfaced — a tally that has health specialists scratching their heads, given the continent’s close economic ties with China. “This is the question that everyone is asking, especially as other regions such as South America or Eastern Europe now have cases,” said Amadou Alpha Sall, head of the Pasteur Institute in Dakar, the Senegalese capital. “The current figures could be the reality, it’s hard to know. Maybe it’s because Africa is not that connected.” 7' NEWS Coronavirus: Experts wonder why Africa seems to have few cases Published February 27, 2020 Doctors treating a Coronavirus patient Source: newsdesk The coronavirus is spreading fast beyond its China birthplace but sub-Saharan Africa, one of the world’s most vulnerable regions, has so far been almost spared — and experts want to know why. He also speculated that it could be “there isn’t much travel to that particular part of China from Africa — back and forth”. Or “it could just be a coincidence,” said Ndung’u. https://punchng.com/coronavirus-experts-wonder-why-africa-seems-to-have-few-cases/amp/?__twitter_impression=true |

Family / Re: My Husband Keeps Looking At Other Women, Winks At My Friends by JOSIG: 5:53pm On Feb 22, 2020 |
Your husband is an end time gbas gbos husband. But seriously, many men and women no longer take the institution of marriage as a thing they should honour. That leaves people like us who believe in love with bleeding hearts. For your health, emotional and mental wellness, never expect faithfulness from your spouse. If he or she turn out faithful, thank God. If not, think of a way to stay happy. Don't come and kill yourself. 1 Like |
Politics / Gombe Spends N100m On 100 School Computers by JOSIG: 10:28pm On Feb 18, 2020 |
The Gombe State Government has procured 100 HP desktop computers. This was revealed by TrackaNG, a project initiated by pro-transparency group, BudgIT, that tracks the performance of government budgets. TrackaNG, which also collaborates with the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission, posted photographs of the computer on its official Twitter handle. “N100m was allocated in the 2019 budget for the supply of 100 computers in Filya, Gombe State. We tracked, and report that the computers have been delivered. #GetInvolved.” The revelation, however, received mostly negative comments from social media as many Nigerians wondered why a state would spend N1m to procure each computer. @computerguysng tweeted, “I sell computers. These computers looked like coupled PCs. The carton looks fake and why are there no serial and product number stickers on them? FYI Coupled PCs are 100k max! Someone just made a profit of N90m!” https://punchng.com/gombe-spends-n100m-on-100-school-computers/amp/?__twitter_impression=true

Politics / Buhari Didn’t Accuse Borno Residents Of Colluding With Boko Haram – Garba Shehu by JOSIG: 1:17pm On Feb 17, 2020 |
5' NEWS Buhari didn’t accuse Borno residents of colluding with Boko Haram – Garba Shehu Published Garba Shehu Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, has denied President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), ever accused the residents of Borno State of colluding with Boko Haram. Shehu said this on NTA’s ‘Good Morning Nigeria’ programme on Monday. Buhari had at a sympathy visit to Maiduguri last week stated, “Boko Haram or whatever they are cannot come to Maiduguri or its environs without the local leadership knowing, the local leadership is in charge of security in their own respective areas. “We are working for you in this country; as Commander-in-Chief, I am dealing with the security institutions and I believe there is an improvement in security. I urge the people of the state to cooperate with the law enforcement agencies; let us deny Boko Haram access to our loyal citizens and encourage displaced people to go back to their land.” But Shehu said the President’s words were misrepresented, adding that he also received a backlash of social media because of the comment. The Special Adviser to the Borno State Governor on Public Relations and Strategy, Isa Gusau, who was also on the same programme with Shehu faulted the allegations by the President that Boko Haram was succeeding due to the collaboration of residents. https://punchng.com/buhari-didnt-accuse-borno-residents-of-colluding-with-boko-haram-garba-shehu/amp/?__twitter_impression=true

Politics / Polygamy Causing Poverty, Backwardness In North – Emir Sanusi by JOSIG: 7:18am On Jan 25, 2020 |
KINDLY SHARE THIS STORY ON Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II Maiharaji Altine, Gusau The Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido, has warned that unless the people of the North change their culture, they will continue to be backward and in abject poverty. The emir made the comment in Gusau where he moderated a paper titled ‘The role of universities in nation building’ presented by Dr Usman Bugaji at the maiden convocation of the Federal University, Gusau on Friday. The emir argued that the culture of marrying more than one wife by those who could not even properly take care of a single wife and producing many children was the main reason why the northern region would continue to remain backward and in object poverty. He said, “There are people who cannot afford to feed one wife but are ready to marry three wives and have more children than they cannot feed, talk less of paying for their school fees?” He stressed that unless this negative attitude was changed, the north would continue to be left behind by other regions. According to him, “The poverty level of the North is 80 per cent; while in the south, the percentage is 20 per cent, simply because of the culture of marrying many wives and producing many children who, at the end, are left on the streets to beg for what to eat.” He lamented that some of the wives would be divorced by their husbands, living them with the children to take care of, a situation which he said was also responsible for producing hardened criminals. “The issues we have today such as drug abuse, Boko Haram, banditry and unemployment would be nothing compared to what we will be dealing with in the next 20 or 30,” he said. He urged northern universities to come up with solutions to the issues. https://punchng.com/polygamy-causing-poverty-backwardness-in-north-sanusi 1 Like

Lolo24: Free the guy abeg. The truth you are running away from and that the Op needs to know is that when a woman starts having dwindling interest in sex, they are losing interest in the man and most likely having an affair. Yes, mums of babies of less than one year so have affairs. I have seen such. The Op did not write the piece as he is experiencing it currently. He was just trying to be civilsed. His situation is pathetic and someone is talking trash about being Alpha male. Alpha male ko, Omega male ni. As men, it's unfortunate the society expects you to swallow plenty shit coming from your wife. Op, my advice to you is open your eyes and be observant. God will reveal the problem to you though the revelation might be painful to you. Nonsense... 1 Like |

Romance / Having Less Frequent Sex May Lead To Earlier Menopause: Researchers by JOSIG: 3:47pm On Jan 19, 2020 |
(CNN)Having sex less frequently could lead to an earlier menopause, a new study suggests. Researchers found that women who reported having sexual activity weekly were 28% less likely to have experienced menopause than those who had sex less than once a month. Similarly, those who had sex monthly were 19% less likely to have attained menopause -- defined as 12 months without a period -- than those who had sex less than once a month. While the study didn't look at the reason for the link, the authors said that the physical cues of sex may signal to the body that there is a possibility of getting pregnant. But for women who aren't having sex frequently in midlife, an earlier menopause may make more biological sense.t "If you're not going to reproduce, there's no point ovulating -- you're better off using that energy elsewhere," said Megan Arnot, the lead author of the study and a PhD candidate in evolutionary anthropology at University College London. https://edition.cnn.com/2020/01/14/health/menopause-onset-sex-wellness/index.html?utm_source=twCNN&utm_content=2020-01-19T11%3A46%3A03&utm_medium=social&utm_term=link |
