Reflections on the 2023 Diocesan Womens' Guild Conference of the Diocese of Aba Ngwa North (Anglican Communion)

Introduction

The Diocesan Womens' Guild Conference of the Diocese of Aba Ngwa North (Anglican Communion) is a significant event that brings together women from various Archdeaconries and Mission areas within the Diocese. The conference, which took place from 6th - 9th July, 2023 was hosted by St. Thomas Anglican Church Umuakpara. It provided an opportunity for women to come together, learn, worship, and fellowship as one big family.

Day 1: Opening Service and Morning Session

The conference began with an opening service and holy communion, presided over by His Lordship the RT Reverend Nathan Chinenye Kanu, PhD, JP, Bishop of the Diocese of Aba Ngwa North. Reverend Cannon Charles Ubani, Reverend Odiwonma Ihediwa, Venerable Dr. Benneth Nwokedi, Venerable Levi Obinwanne Edward, and Venerable Emmanuel Ogbonna assisted the bishop during the service. The Epistle was read by Reverend Cannon Ezechimere Uruakpa, and the Gospel was read by Reverend Israel Onyemaechi. The morning session was moderated by Evangelist Mrs. Franca Odiwonma, who led the proceedings.

After the Holy Communion service, the moderator called upon the Cathedral Archdeaconry to give a vote of thanks. This was followed by breakfast and the ushering in of the president of the women's ministry, Princess Mrs. Odionyenfe Kanu, Mama Aba Ngwa North. The president delivered her opening remarks, setting the tone for the conference. The conference officials were introduced, and roll call, apologies, and obituary announcements were made. New members were also introduced, and Lady Stella Nkoro led the mid-day prayer.

Evangelist Mrs. Gold Edward delivered the welcome address, expressing gratitude for the attendees and highlighting the significance of the conference. The minutes of the previous Women's Guild conference were read, followed by a Bible study session. Ambassador Jerry Nduka delivered a health talk, providing valuable insights on maintaining physical and emotional well-being. The Akpaa-Osokwa Archdeaconry gave a vote of thanks, and the Archdeaconries offered thanksgiving.

The afternoon session was moderated by Evangelist Mrs. Queen Silas. The host Archdeaconry, presented a welcome song and reception to the attendees. Evangelist Eze Onynso spoke during the revival hour, focusing on the conference theme: "If we have it, our children may have it, and when they do"... (Genesis 19:26 & 36, 2 Timothy 1:5). The theme emphasized the importance of passing on the faith and spiritual values to future generations. Following the revival hour, an open forum was held to encourage discussion and exchange of ideas. The day concluded with closing formalities.

Day 2: Morning Session and Afternoon Exposition

The morning session of the second day was moderated by Evangelist Mrs. Chinasa Nwaorgu. Mrs. Favour Loveday led the praise and worship, creating a spiritually uplifting atmosphere. Rev. Christian Nwoko conducted the opening devotion, preparing the hearts and minds of the attendees for the day's activities. Bible study followed, delving deeper into the Word of God and providing spiritual nourishment.

The prayer and spirituality unit led intercessory prayers, uplifting the needs and concerns of the attendees and the broader community. The chairperson of the conference planning committee delivered a welcome address, expressing gratitude for the successful organization of the conference. Reports on evangelism and the quiz competition were presented, highlighting the impact and outreach efforts of the Women's Guild.

Dr. Mrs. Gloria Udo Obioma delivered a social talk, shedding light on important social issues and providing guidance on navigating them from a Christian perspective. Reports from vice presidents and unit coordinators were read, highlighting the achievements and challenges faced by various units within the Women's Guild. Ngwa Archdeaconry delivered a vote of thanks, expressing appreciation for the opportunity to participate in the conference. Lunch was provided, allowing the attendees to fellowship and recharge.

The afternoon session was moderated by Lady Mabel Okoro. The Hilltop Mission Area led the mid-day prayer, seeking divine guidance and blessings. Introduction

The Diocesan Womens' Guild Conference of the Diocese of Aba Ngwa North (Anglican Communion) is a significant event that brings together women from various Archdeaconries and Mission areas within the Diocese. The conference, which took place from 6th - 9th July, 2023 was hosted by St. Thomas Anglican Church Umuakpara. It provided an opportunity for women to come together, learn, worship, and fellowship as one big family.

Day 1: Opening Service and Morning Session

The conference began with an opening service and holy communion, presided over by His Lordship the RT Reverend Nathan Chinenye Kanu, PhD, JP, Bishop of the Diocese of Aba Ngwa North. Reverend Cannon Charles Ubani, Reverend Odiwonma Ihediwa, Venerable Dr. Benneth Nwokedi, Venerable Levi Obinwanne Edward, and Venerable Emmanuel Ogbonna assisted the bishop during the service. The Epistle was read by Reverend Cannon Ezechimere Uruakpa, and the Gospel was read by Reverend Israel Onyemaechi. The morning session was moderated by Evangelist Mrs. Franca Odiwonma, who led the proceedings.

After the Holy Communion service, the moderator called upon the Cathedral Archdeaconry to give a vote of thanks. This was followed by breakfast and the ushering in of the president of the women's ministry, Princess Mrs. Odionyenfe Kanu, Mama Aba Ngwa North. The president delivered her opening remarks, setting the tone for the conference. The conference officials were introduced, and roll call, apologies, and obituary announcements were made. New members were also introduced, and Lady Stella Nkoro led the mid-day prayer.

Evangelist Mrs. Gold Edward delivered the welcome address, expressing gratitude for the attendees and highlighting the significance of the conference. The minutes of the previous Women's Guild conference were read, followed by a Bible study session. Ambassador Jerry Nduka delivered a health talk, providing valuable insights on maintaining physical and emotional well-being. The Akpaa-Osokwa Archdeaconry gave a vote of thanks, and the Archdeaconries offered thanksgiving.

The afternoon session was moderated by Evangelist Mrs. Queen Silas. The host Archdeaconry, presented a welcome song and reception to the attendees. Evangelist Eze Onynso spoke during the revival hour, focusing on the conference theme: "If we have it, our children may have it, and when they do"... (Genesis 19:26 & 36, 2 Timothy 1:5). The theme emphasized the importance of passing on the faith and spiritual values to future generations. Following the revival hour, an open forum was held to encourage discussion and exchange of ideas. The day concluded with closing formalities.

Day 2: Morning Session and Afternoon Exposition

The morning session of the second day was moderated by Evangelist Mrs. Chinasa Nwaorgu. Mrs. Favour Loveday led the praise and worship, creating a spiritually uplifting atmosphere. Rev. Christian Nwoko conducted the opening devotion, preparing the hearts and minds of the attendees for the day's activities. Bible study followed, delving deeper into the Word of God and providing spiritual nourishment.

The prayer and spirituality unit led intercessory prayers, uplifting the needs and concerns of the attendees and the broader community. The chairperson of the conference planning committee delivered a welcome address, expressing gratitude for the successful organization of the conference. Reports on evangelism and the quiz competition were presented, highlighting the impact and outreach efforts of the Women's Guild.

Dr. Mrs. Gloria Udo Obioma delivered a social talk, shedding light on important social issues and providing guidance on navigating them from a Christian perspective. Reports from vice presidents and unit coordinators were read, highlighting the achievements and challenges faced by various units within the Women's Guild. Ngwa Archdeaconry delivered a vote of thanks, expressing appreciation for the opportunity to participate in the conference. Lunch was provided, allowing the attendees to fellowship and recharge.

The afternoon session was moderated by Lady Mabel Okoro. The Hilltop Mission Area led the mid-day prayer, seeking divine guidance and blessings.
