Mr jpphilips, i read you comment about desertification been a natural disaster and because of that the government approach is good.
I will like to discuss about that, am not an expert in that field but you know govt investing in personal business is very wrong.
Flood in the south is a natural disaster also but the government is not taking 2 local govt area from each state to relocate them.
This action is going to have a crisis ridden future and it's not good the way buhari is handling this situation.
Cheers

You just mentioned desertification on one hand, on the other, you mentioned private buisness. grin grin
Whose private buisness is desertification and whose private buisness is flooding?

2018 flood victims got $18m while another N24.7b has been approved for them alongside security this year, is that money not enough to buy a village? however, the victims of desertification should buy land as if they begged you for one or you think you have more land than them?
I don't get your point. You don't say something is wrong or right because some lunatics and Semi terrorists like Reno Omokri aka beaf made noise about it on social media.

The video showed some members of the terrorist group jubilating in one of the ships belonging to the Nigerian Navy in Lake Chad.

They shot into the air as a sign of victory, chanting "Allah Akbar" (God is the greatest).

Four of the naval officers captured alive were made to introduce themselves while being recorded before they were eventually executed by the terrorist group.

Three of the naval officers introduced themselves as Ebirek Adewale with official number X12907, Muhammed Muhammed, and Aliyu Adamu, an excavator operator.

The fourth naval officers in the video released by the terrorist group said, “I was drafted from naval Air Wing, Port Harcourt, under the command of Nigerian Navy Ship Pathfinder to Naval Base, Lake Chad, Baga, Borno State.

“Our base was attacked on the 26th to 27th. We are on our way to escape. I was captured by the Army Kalaifa (sic) and now we are under their detention as prisoners of war.”

The insurgent group in the new video documentary released footage of the victories it has recorded in a series of attacks against the Nigerian military.

The video showed different gun battles between the insurgent group and the military with the Boko Haram group having the upper hand.

The Boko Haram sects also showed some armoured personnel carrier, guns and other battle arms taken from the military.

Another part of the video showed the insurgent group setting ablaze a Nigerian flag and that of the Nigerian Army in a camp of the Brigade Multinational Joint Task Force, Baga, Borno State.

The insurgent group also showed its members overrunning the base, killing all military personnel around and taking over all cars and arsenal belonging to the Nigerian Army.

The Nigerian government has on different occasions claimed victory against the terrorist group saying the terrorist group had been confined to the outskirt of Borno.

This claim is, however, contradictory to the daily killings by the insurgent group in different parts of Borno with the latest being the overrunning of a military base in Yobe State.

Following aborted attempt by terrorists to infiltrate 120 Task Force Battalion location at Goniri, Yobe State, Sector 2 Operation LAFIYA DOLE, at about 1833 hours on Wednesday 26 June 2019, troops of the Battalion,
in a professional manner, - tactically waited for the terrorists to close into the killing range and opened heavy volume of fire on the criminals who approached the location with 7 gun trucks and several other fighters on motorcycles.

Consequently, this encounter/ambush resulted in the annihilation of dozens of terrorists, many fled with some levels of injuries and the following equipment were captured;

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai who has been in the Theatre of Operation for sometimes, commended the efforts and successes of the troops in recent encounters with the terrorists and charged them to sustain and upscale the tempo of the operation. He enjoined troops to be more vigilant and assured them of continuous support to ensure the looming defeat of the dying Boko Haram terrorists and the eventual destruction of fledgling Islamic State West Africa Province battling to establish dominant presence in Nigeria.

Jonathan was booted out because he was incompetent and lackadaisical. Even he knew it. I agree that the west resented him,but ultimately,it was Nigerians who rejected him. However, of all his inadequacies, I do not think Jonathan was blinded by tribal sentiments,he was simply cautious of the Northern elites, and rightfully so. When this BH insurgency started, many parts of the muslim North saw it as a just cause. Even the current president at a time was once quoted saying "a war against Boko Haram is war against the North",some elites demanded that BH be given amnesty in form of monetary inducement. Of course,it was only natural for Jonathan to be wary of the North, and all the events surrounding the region; hence,to him,BH was a northern project to destabilize his government. He wasn't just selling the story,he actually believed it. To an extent,it was even true.
You just regurgitated the same lies Jonathan sold to his eastern supporters without reading with a broader mind.
You just said it that Jonathan is inefficient, have you bothered to figure out what made him inefficient?
That's what I just wrote up there, it matters less what you believe.

Ask yourself, why should a sitting president be acting on the gut feelings of northern Almajiris and so called elites when the US intel on boko haram was credible?
An intel that linked BHT with AQIM? Traced the source of their weapons to a failed US campaign in Libya, Can you answer that question?

Before you answer that question, recall that in 2013, the US released a similar intel that connected Fauzii Fawad, Mustapha Fawaz and Abdallah Tahini all Lebanese with hezbollah ties, Iranian intelligence agents by proxy using Amigo supermarket as a front.
Jonathan's swift action on that intel led to the discovery of an arms cache in Bomai and subsequent hit on Elzakzaky killing two of his sons linked to Iranian intelligence, like you said, he was too dumb to allow Elzakzaky continue till pmb arrived and dismantled that terror cell.

Tell me, why did Jonathan not rely on the gut feeling of IMN Almajiris and northern shiite elites to sleep off that intel?
You can see clearly that when a president decides to act on gut feelings, religious and tribal sentiments it comes with consequences one he dearly paid for.

The Obama administration took a hard stance against Jonathan because they perceived his government as highly corrupt and inefficient. A government that even went ahead to deny the abduction of the chibok girls for over a month, an action driven by suspicion and paranoia. Obama flew circles round Africa, from Ghana to Kenya, but never stepped foot into Nigeria, that in itself was a diplomatic statement that showed the level of contempt he held for the Nigerian government. So it wasn't about John McCain, it was all about Jonathan's incompetence and Obama's disapproval.

Ultimately,if Jonathan had handled the BH situation more seriously, he wouldn't have been booted out by the Nigerian people. No matter what the US wanted.
Again like always, you speak from a cache of unresonable feebles with no connection with reality, Obama supported a lot of corrupt regimes, south Korea (now serving jail term), Brazil, Argentina, cuba etc, it is difficult to convince someone like me that Jonathan's problem with the gods was corruption, I dont even want to remember the gay marriage feeble he sold.
At the horn of Africa, Kenya, they rejected the same gay marriage proposal worse than Nigeria yet Obama rewarded them with millions of usd in aid, how do you rationalize that?
Corruption was Jonathan's problem with Nigerians not the US.

Finally, if you sincerely believe Jonathan was removed by the Nigerian people, proove it by removing PMB.
I will start taking you seriously when you can connect what you think you know with the realities of global politics.

18 Islamic State Terrorists Killed In Joint Operation With American Troops In Niger

http://saharareporters.com/2019/06/21/18-islamic-state-terrorists-killed-joint-operation-american-troops-niger
Eighteen members of the Islamic State in the Greater Sahara were killed in a joint operation by US, French and Niger troops near Niger's border with Mali, the defence ministry said Tuesday.
International Multinational joint task force

"Important material was recovered including equipment belonging to the Niger armed forces which were taken by the attackers after the ambush," the statement said.
Mission; Arms recovery & retaliation.

The United States has a big base for drones in the northern city of Agadez and Niger recently gave the Americans permission to arm their drones.

The French also have a military base near Niamey airport and another at Madama in the north. Various insurgent groups operate in the country's west and north, and Nigeria's Boko Haram is present in its southeast.
We saw it coming, didn't we? who else thinks Nigeria does not need a Multinational joint task force for arms recovery? can we admit that Nigeriens are smarter than Nigerians?

One patriotic mumu will soon come and tell me this kind of thing happens in the USA angry

Foolishness and political correctness will never make us crush insecurity in Nigeria. OBJ made it clear, Fulani herdsmen should be ruthlessly crushed. Let the herdsmen go back to sokoto or zamfara if people from other tribes do not want them to settle on their land.

You can't come to my farmland, ruin my farm with your malnourished cows all in the name of one Nigeria.

For this country to be able to take a great leap, we need to change the way we run things, if we're scared of the sentence "division of Nigeria" we can just practice confederation, this way we can make the 6 geo political regions strong republic under the Nigeria federation. The geopolitical region should have their own security operatives(military and non military) the federal government will only be in charge of foreign affairs and currency. Once we practice this confederation, any region that wants to practise full sharia will be able to do so, and anyone that wants to turn is region to a ranch will also do so.

I can assure you 100%, nothing will happen to the herdsmen that committed this crime against humanity, buhari won't even say anything concerning it.

As for me if IPOB can be proscribe a terrorist group, I see no reason why Fulani herdsmen won't also be proscribe a terrorist group.

It seems the unity of Nigeria is more important than the lives of the people living in this mere geographical expression.
Apparently, you have no clue why the former regions was dissolved, you have no clue why its security apratchick was equally abandoned.
Just do some reading about where the country started from, you may get a clue why we can't go down the path that once failed us.
Nigeria did not start today, most of these suggestions are things that have already failed in the past, all you need do is pick up a book!

If money was everything as you guys claimed.... grin
Why didn't US government didn't sell us military equipment worth over $344.7m during Obama regime.
I think it as to be more of regional power-play and politics.
I am happy someone mentioned this; what it means is that Nigeria has fallen under the hammer of the global hawks as recent as 5yrs ago, apparently, we didn't learn from that experience, now listen up, there was nobody in Obama's security circle that didn't want the US to make that money from Nigeria make no mistakes about that, jonathan committed several global blunders, not only did he pay for it with his office, he narrowly escaped with his life, that phone call to PMB was his ticket to a new life.

Jonathan out of ethnic sentiment didn't know that what befell his administration was mere ill luck, as a result, he switched to deception mode mostly to obfuscate his southern supporters, boko haram was given a narrative of "Northern problem" instead of "National problem", every global incident was branded a scam, at a point he f00led his minions that BHT was a force to destabilize his administration, he stopped listening to foreign affairs because he believed his problem was at home, OBJ being a proxy of global hawks told him what was happening in Washington, he refused to listen, OBJ fell out with him.

The second crime of Jonathan was supporting moles in his administration that compromised the intelligence of the global hawks.
Even at that, none of these misdemeanors of his landed Nigeria in any major trouble.

The biggest crime of Jonathan was falling out with the most powerful man in congress Late Sen John Mccain (Rep) Arizona, a man that is more powerful than most African presidents by influence. The longest serving senator in the armed services committee.
Now, study that Leahy's ban on Nigeria, it was a congressional ban with Mccain's hands all over it, Mccain at a point personally threatened Jonathan with invasion, the human rights clause in Leahy's ban is nowhere comparable to what US allies elsewhere does, however, that strained relationship built on Chibok denial (at at the time he was chairing the Subcommittee on African Affairs under the foreign affairs committee in Congress), landed jonathan in a big mess.

what did Jonathan do? he claimed Chibok was a scam, the US foreign affairs committee with the assistance of Africom all the way from Stuttgart, later confirmed that abduction, Africom provided the evidence on which michelle obama and others joined the BBOG campaign.
That day was the date the global hawks marked jonathan for destruction.

Most of his minions thought that loosing that election he still had the chance to fight back, hell no, Africom SOF command was already in Ghana monitoring the elections, if he had at least refused to concede defeat, he wouldn't last the next 12 hrs.
It was Mccain that destroyed Jonathan not Obama.

Compare it with this present arms gift to boko haram and ISWAP, do you still think there won't be serious consequences on the global stage?
Don't you think we should be discussing that MNJTF for arms recovery by now? Only a foolish optimist can deny the dark realities of the moment.

I don't know what point you're trying to make.
The fact is glaring for everyone to see, the villages being rampaged are carried out by militant herdsmen. If you ask where herdsmen keep their cattles during invasion then you also have to ask where multinational oil coys keep their expatriates when tension escalates with host communities. That being said you can go to YouTube and look for a documentary done by TVC on villages raided by bandits and listen to eye witness account. Also if you had listen to channels 10pm news yesterday, a reporter covered the incident in Taraba, old women gave account on how their communities where raided and their people killed mindlessly they mentioned "fulanis". A time will come when innocent Fulanis will be hunted or stereotyped by every ethnic group because of the activities of the bad elements amongst them. There is serious problem in the land and only a patriotic individual will say the truth in order to seek solutions irrespective of whose ox it gores.
You won't feel the heat till a close relative fall victims to this senseless violence. OBJ talked about the activities of these marauders and everyone was lambasting him.
Again I ask for how long shall we continue to play the Ostrich?
You think you are speaking the truth? you are selling confusion premeditated by narratives sold to you by your likes, I've seen more Hausa herdsmen than Fulani, infact Berom cattle is more popular in some areas than the fulani cattle, now tell us, where does the Hausa, Kanuri, Igala herdsmen fit in this "Fulani herdsmen" narrative?

The problem we know is a climate change issue affecting every herdsman including PMB, so I wonder why only the fulas are fighting for survival of their cattle while others are not?
Everywhere in west Africa they are called "herdsmen" apparently because of their ties with cattle, only in Nigeria and very few places do we hear "Fulani herdsmen", does their tribe really make a difference in the drought crisis they are facing?
Don't you think that the reason you haven't solved this problem is because of the sentiments you robbed all over it?

You are Igbo, Evans was an "Igbo kidnapper" in Lagos a yoruba town, I have never heard any igbo man refer to Evans as an "igbo Kidnapper", how "fulani herdsmen" makes sense to you is what i can't phantom. Does that make Evans less of a kidnapper?
We know Boko haram ranks are swollen with Kanuri boys, i have never heard "Kanuri boko haram" why is "fulani herdsmen" so important in our lexicon? does that make sense?

we know there is serious drought in the lower sahel so herdsmen comprising of fulani, Gao, Hausa, Kanuri, igala etc are moving down south for pasture, Most Ansaru & FLN sahel fighters are Fulas, we know the herdsmen, Hausa, igala, fulani contract them to escort their cattle through farming routes because we know the farmers are waiting with loaded guns and machete to stop their animals from grazing on their farms, you can see both sides are fighting for survival.

The contracted Sahel terrorists are those causing the mayhem, they are far from being herdsmen, I have never seen their pics here or elsewhere with cattles, the very few times they were found with cattles, the cattles were reported stolen. You can't be herding 100 cows, then abandon it to sack a village, does that even make sense? the only reason you conviniently rubbed them with the same brush is because most of them are fulanis, that's all.

Now, the last Ecowas protocol on this conflict recommended all west African states to provide grazing fields/reserves/ranch/colonies whichever nomenclature suits you better for the herdsmen, this recommendation was born out of the fact that Ecowas views "Drought" as a natural disaster as such the herdsmen dont deserve to be stranded, i share that sentiment too.
I believe both the farmers & herders deserve to be saved if not for anything for their economic importance as sources of food, the food crisis experienced in Nigeria today is a direct consequence of this rascality.

Our Agriculture minister came home and told us the same thing partly working in Ghana, Ivory Coast, Mali & Senegal, people like you rejected that proposal, some of you were so callous to ask the herdsmen to buy the lands, meanwhile, down south when flooding occurs (a natural disaster), government provide billions in funds for compensation and relocation, in this case, the herdsmen were left OYO, the consequence of that inhumanity is a bigger inhumanity called "murder"
The same people that discouraged their state governors from providing that land, rejected FG proposal for peace are the same running to the FG for protection grin grin, an over stretched FG fighting 4 intl terror groups and a dozen local militia? sense is truly not common in this part of the world.

Nigerians have no clue how or when to draw a line between global/regional emergencies and their tribal skirmishes. only the fittest shall survive!!

Fear mongering is not sound logic.

On the Bakassi issue, Nigeria erred by going to the international court in the first place. What Abacha would have done is to pull out of the ICJ,and flood the place with military presence. But Obasanjo going to the ICJ meant he had to abide by it's judgement; any attempt to go against the decision would have been viewed as aggression and rightfully so.

We ceded that region based on a 1913 agreement between Britian and Germany, in essence, the court made its decision based on colonial documents. How can a territory that is occupied majorly by Nigerians and has benefitted from Nigerian government policies be termed Cameroonian territory?. France wouldn't have brazenly issued threats if we hadn't gone to court and lost, the best they would have done was to arm and fund their puppet regime. Even President Buhari once alluded to the fact that we shouldn't have followed Cameroon to the Hague.

You are just stringing events together to paint a gloomy picture. Nobody is invading or bombing Nigeria anytime soon. Nigeria wasn't bombed when BH had about 22 local governments in Borno and Yobe flying the obsidian flag of jihad, is it now that they have been relegated to hit-and-run attacks that we'll be bombed?.
Young man, you are speaking from a position of deficient knowledge, Nigeria did not institute the ICJ case over Bakassi, it came to all of us in bewilderment when Cameroon did on the 29th of March 1994 at the direction of France to secure a global justification to teach Nigeria a bitter lesson over the well positioned ECOMOG influence in the West African sub-region and gulf of guinea by extension.

To set the records straight, Nigeria argued based on the Anglo-German correspondence dating from 1885 as well as treaties between the colonial powers and the indigenous rulers in the area, particularly the 1884 Treaty of Protection, while Cameroon argued on the Anglo-German treaty of 1913, which defined sphere of control in the region, as well as two agreements signed in the 1970s between Cameroon and Nigeria towards the end of the civil war.

Could Nigeria have pulled out of the ICJ under OBJ? That was unpopular in the 90's & early 2000, less likely at a time Nigeria was struggling to pull out from strings of intl kinks including the Saro wiwa led commonwealth sanctions. Again such insubordination will definitely end in a Saddam hussein treatment when he sent UN backed IEAA packing from Iraq during the WMD saga.

At this verge of deliberate historical inconsistencies, Permit me to enjoy the pictures in peace, we have derailed this thread enough, I have spoken more than necessary, do have a great evening.

Nothing to apologise for, life is a choice!!

You claim that the west views Nigeria as a supplier of arms to terrorists in the region, yet Trump's State Department has approved the sale of highly weaponized Tucanos to the Nigerian Airforce, the NN got three new ships from France last year or so, and we have been purchasing small arms(including rifles, grenades etc) from Western allies like Poland, Ukraine and Israel, among so many other packages. Do you think the west would supply weapons of any kind to a country they perceive to be a major donor to terrorists?.
Have you bothered to find out why your Tucano is delaying? since the Rann bombing, can you beat your chest in confidence that you are gonna nail another Tucano type deal in this lifetime? dont answer it.
here is the thing pal, the world work differently, selling little arms to you makes no difference because your money oil the wheels of their economy. Libya and Iraq got so much military and civilian support from the same people that destroyed them, thats is the decoy that paint them in good light, you hear sentences like "we did all we could but Nigeria refused to be responsible bla bla bla bla bla"

To hell with France, we don't care what they think. Weren't they the ones who masterminded the bombing of Tripoli that led to the fall of Libya and cascade of arms to renegade groups and militias in the Sahel?. If they care so much about their francophone puppets, they should deploy more legionnaires to aid them; our neighbors are a very big part of the problem anyway, they aided and abetted BH initially, and ISWAP/BH still recruits heavily from Chad,Niger and Cameroon. In politics and war, every action has consequences, and inaction itself is an action.
It is irresponsible to say to "hell with France" considering her role in global politics, let me quickly refresh your memory, after the ICJ judgement in Hague, OBJ never wanted to honour the green tree agreement, he wanted to use the same Abacha gra-gra posture till that faithful evening when the Elsse palace intl hotline buzzed Aso-rock, haven waited for Nigeria to announce a date to no avail, immediately after that 27 mins call, OBj's countenance was no longer the same, like a flash of lightning he called the then governor of cross river state and said " Donald, we have agreed on a date"
you dont want to lead a country when a superior power threatens it.
Ask Donald duke, he told this story himself at the 60th birthday lecture in honour of Ju5stice Charles Archibong (rtd) held in Lagos in 2013.

Have you forgotten so soon that your MNJTF was reinvigorated under this government after a trip to Elesse palace, why did Chad, Niger & Cameroon not agree immediately till PMB went to France?

What is the difference between what I proposed and the MNJTF? France backed Chad, Niger and Cameroon are having a field day in your backyard but that's ok, but when I suggest a Chinese MNJTF for arms recovery, everyone becomes uncomfortable undermining the importance of what is about to come.

I dont know how you see our country but out there on the global round table, Nigeria is a mere pawn in the chess game of the gods!!
Don't push your luck too far.

Acquiring friends in the UNSC has never been a problem for Nigeria, however,we have chosen to retain diplomatic balance and be everybody's friend, which I find perfectly sensible. However, that position can be reversed if we are faced by aggression from any side.
You know this because you have read our diplomatic playbook or what? stop tossing around rough guesses where you are supposed to be factual, our playbook is empty, Nigeria plays along the interest of those that can ruin her, that's ABC of diplomacy in Nigeria if you have been opportuned to sit there.
Nigeria is more loyal to China and Saudi arabia than any western country today largely because Saudi offers "protection" from the growing fans of iranian intelligence in Kaduna while China is the money man!!

No nation is a friend to everyone because interests are diverse, in 2015 when your budget deficit was more than 2T naira, Christine Lagarde was here to secure a commitment that IMF will play a major role in financing that deficit, Nigeria ran to the Chinese Exim bank to fund it because they lured us with a better deal, have you forgotten that IMF, world bank and other Bretton Woods are personal properties of world powers? You expect them to give you a standing ovation and remain friends?

Ultimately,I think you are just raising unnecessary alarm. BH will not proliferate beyond it's current area of influence, and sooner or later, they will be decimated into oblivion.
Save this thread, I gave you my word, if nothing is done about these arms gift to BHT, in the nearest future, you will hear on your radio about US drone strike in Konduga and Bauchi, it will be so normal like suicide became part of us.
The worst that will happen is we protest in Abuja like Pakis in Karachi.

@SBLM, it's all due to poor leadership, one would think a serious Govt would be making headlines about that and how they don't want it around their territory, but of course, we like to bend over backwards for these western countries, yet they are reluctant to sell us serious hardware.
Compare the arms they sell to North African countries to Sub-Saharan African countries, the disparity is glaring, it's like we are being treated as kids because our leaders are useless and not serious.
Anyways,
How many times have you seen AQIM in the Sinai driving around in Egyptian military trucks, or wielding their SF rifle as it is almost becoming customary with Nigeria? There are processes these procurement pass through, there are several considerations, if you add Human rights infractions into the mix, NA does not meet a single criteria for serious arms transfer, our Airforce used to be the image maker till Rann bombing. make no mistakes, your Tucano is coming stripped so dont get too excited about it except a miracle happens, I read someone suggesting burantai will be sold Gatling guns grin grin grin if the real one fires at 2000 rpm, yours will fire at 20rpm. These hawks don't fvck around.

You see, international politics is not guguru and epa politics,it is politics of interest. World powers won't just commit billions of dollars and various strategic military hardwares into a conflict simply because they watched our suffering on CNN and were moved to tears.

For the mean time, the major foreign powers have very little strategic interest in West Africa, unlike what obtains in the Middle East. Invading Nigeria will cause an implosion in sub-saharan Africa, everyone is aware of that.

I think the war will be won decisively when those in charge become more serious.

You believe a Nigerian invasion will implode sub-saharan Africa with refugees but you don't believe that terrorists taking control of Nigeria's most populous areas streched deep into the Sahel will produce the same effect? grin grin grin
You seem not to know that Nigeria aiding ISWAP/BHT has destabilized Africa already? Sainai is almost going, Sahel is gone, Lower Sahel is gone, Lake Chad is bye-bye, the horn of Africa is gone what is left of africa?
Have you sat for a second to think whose interest Africa serve? you think the answer is Nigeria and Nigerians, or Cameroon that has no economic independence from France, or Chad whose annual budget is approved in a tea room in Ellse palace after their politicians and so called financial experts are done monkeying about?

Are north east Nigerians not refugees already in Cameroon & Benin republic? Add North west to it and tell us if you haven't imploded already.
The refugee spread isn't gonna spread down south neither will the insurgency for very obvious reasons.
It doesn't mean that iSWAP at some point won't strike strategic targets down south for propaganda and morale boosting.
ISWAP in Lake chad unlike BHT is not on a civilian hunt, they are merely being taxed while ISWAP perform the role of government and adjudicator, such a situation wont unleach a Syrian kinda humanitarian catastrophe on migration. Have you asked yourself why civilians were hailing ISWAP during the Dapchi girls drop off saga?

Im not talking about an "Assad must go" kinda invasion no!! Its the invasion that permits them to freely operate on Nigerian soil as an occupying force, that will open the flood gates of weapon testing, battlefield scenario studies and Nigerians will become the ultimate collateral damage.

Several interests are at stake first is China's growing influence in Africa taking out IMF and world bank market shares with his more attractive Exim bank loans by implication, owning most of African infrastructure.

Chinese & Russian arms sales to African countries, chinese incursion into African resource fields hitherto controlled by the west.
The vast resources of the Gulf of guinea which America feels presently their companies don't have the lion's share.
A US naval fleet in the Gulf of Guinea will be very strategic to their interests, especially in supporting Indian Ocean operations and elsewhere.

The day most of you cheering this mess will have the privilege of sitting on that table where Nigeria's fate is decided, it will dawn on you that the annihilation of a Nigerian Battalion is nothing by consequences when compared to Iswap driving around with our trucks in the eyes of the West.

Nigeria has officially been notified, the media blacked it out, we hurriedly retooled the NNSBS for the job, few months later, ISWAP took their patrol boats, do you sincerely think that incident won't have consequences?

As at today, the west view Nigeria as a supplier of manpower, tools & equipments to terrorists like Iran was called the central bank of terror landing it in her 4th round of security council sanctions, despite having the support of 2 members on that table, Nigeria has no-one on that table and you still doubt me?

France has already made it explicitly clear to Nigeria that her inactions is destabilizing his babies Niger, Cameroon and Chad and must do something about it, the negotiation window is as good as shut, our military 3 wise men are now scratching their heads how to convince the CIC to reopen negotiations, apparently CIC will be in Paris before this year runs out,
Iranian revolutionary guards just landed on US foreign terror list, guest who is next??
you have no idea what is coming.

AFSF and SBS are already doing that.
You think I dont know that already? the problem is that the hawks in Washington and Paris dont believe you, so long as they continue seeing ISWAP draped in our apparels, running around with our Otokar cobra, nobody believes any of those missions, do you know how many times our guys have gone to convince them with proof of what you guys are doing? the last meeting in new york was a disaster, they didn't even agree to come to the venue after a wasted 4 days the French embassy sent an emissary that won't qualify for a cleaner.
what does that tell you?

If our BHT issues keeps growing, as it is already in about 5 countries in west Africa, we would be invaded , and the only thing that can save us, is a Syria- Russia ype of alliance, and the bill would be crazy.....we just have simpletons as leaders, who cant see more than the money they want to eat, if not, boko haram would be scared to attack our bases for fear of been hit , we are in a better position than syria, BHT are isolated, they dont live in cities and within villages, what we need is sustainable sustained massive strikes, at least 5 major different strikes every 3 or 4 days.....not these piecemeal 1 or 2 alpha jet strikes, that are not effective...... and for special forces to basically become a hunter - strike team, with right vehicles and WEAPONS.
Sorry to disappoint you, In this case, the leaders are not the problem, the military is, foreign affairs already have an action plan since 2018,
but the guys on the ground (Military) are painting a picture of Eldorado, how do you win that arguement in Aso rock as a foreign affairs expert when the man on ground is on a different page with you?

These are guys that used PMC's in the past, have foreign trainers in almost all their training facilities, have foreign technicians in all their maintenance depots, how will a UN backed arms recovery strike force make any difference? How many peacekeeping missions do they prosecute globally in other countries, has the sky fallen?
it is a difficult situation but tough times call for tough actions, they said our guys know nothing about wars, but this is what they know, they know how the real world works on the global stage, Nigeria is on a brink of an invasion, only time will tell.

Your proposal is absolutely preposterous!.

It undermines our fundamental principles as a democratic nation, and ultimately, our sovereignty. The political consequences of what you are suggesting is best imagined. If anyone in government were to push for such a plan,I would recommend immediate neutralization of such a person. Are you even a Nigerian at all?.

I think you are blowing things out of proportion. The suggestion that we should parcel out the country to the UNSC and foreign powers as a solution to this crisis is way overboard. ISWAP can be defeated by the Nigerian military if the right things are put in place.
You have no clue what is coming!! save this post and make sure you dont lose it. Do you think you will be given the chance to put the right things in place? grin grin.

Do you sincerely believe any nation not on that 5 seats is truly democratic and independent?
The administration of Nigeria is run from Abuja while her fate is decided in Newyork, don't push your luck too far.
I have said more than enough already, continue living in denial till you become a refugee.

PARIS (Reuters) - France has ordered special forces to protect uranium sites run by state-owned Areva in Niger as the threat of attacks on its interests rises after its intervention against rebels in Mali, a military source said on Thursday.

Paris launched air strikes and sent hundreds of soldiers into Niger’s neighbor Mali this month to drive back al-Qaeda-linked rebels it said could turn the West African country into a base for international attacks.

They are coming:

US is building a US$100 million unmanned drone base in Niger to protect its assets such as Boko Haram and Al-Shabaab.

Washington is using these terrorist groups to bring Western African Muslim-majority countries Niger, Nigeria, Cameron, Chad, and Benin under its influence.

“There is nothing Islamic about Boko Haram,” Issoufou told students and faculty at the Harvard Institute of Politics John F. Kennedy Forum in Cambridge, Massachusetts on April 3, 2015.

Niger is home to one of world’s largest uranium deposits.

Do I give a Bleep about what you believe, if you're feeling pained or pressed go create a thread where you discuss such issues. Just stop derailing the thread.
I dont expect you to be smart enough to understand that what is happening now have wider implications, with ISWAP having photo sessions with our trucks, APCs, mortar and SF rifles, it means that Nigeria and the whole of Sahel region is at a huge risk of foreign invasion.
This is how it will play out;

Nigeria with its huge population will continue supplying fighters in droves for ISWAP, hitting military targets monthly will continuously supply them with arms & equipments, stolen APC's will make subsequent hits easier (already playing out), it's just a matter of time, their operations will grow beyond the NE, stretch into the NW to connect the Lower Sahel, to continue feeding and raising funds through Jizya tax, Kano will go but im certain they won't want to push southwards but northwards for obvious reasons.

I hear the ignorant arguement of ISWAP wishing to control territories, they learnt some lessons in the Arabian peninsula and will not make that mistake again, for west africa, its a mobile force with capability to take out government presence and take control of civil rule, extorting businesses and civilians, any attempt to dislodge them will be met with stiff resistance from nowhere after which they disperse and become civilians once again, several intels have confirmed this.

You may argue that you stand a chance of taking out their equipments with air strikes, make no mistakes, with the last attempt to capture an MLRS, all its rockets were taken, so far, ISWAP is utilizing those rockets in an improvised fashion, you still cant guess the end of this road? they are coming for our Roland it is just a matter of time, how effective will our airforce be afterwards?

The next phase will be consolidating their gains by taking control of businesses, factories, industries in controlled regions, that will get the attention of the security council who won't wish them to be more financially capable but first of all sanction Nigeria with an arms embargo for aiding ISWAP, Nigeria becomes glaringly inefficient and helpless that will be the only justification they need to invade Nigeria and closely expand their global reach.
The Sahel region has a lot of uranium deposits, the security council will never allow any of it to fall into ISWAP's hands even if it means destroying Nigeria, with these interests at the back of our minds, gentlemen, they are coming.

Denying the realities of the next decade is not in anyone's interest except you dont stay in Nigeria, what must be done is report this situation to the security council and log it in as a growing global threat to be countered, Nigeria must swallow her pride and request for an arms recovery taskforce, a pocket size modern foreign special forces & equipments mixed with our guys that are good enough and monitored by the security council, their objective will be to recover or destroy anything these guys take, it could be a one nation action plan or a coalition of nations.

Our guys in foreign affairs are not making this move now because the military consistently lives in denial, we always argue if the CIC is onboard of this development. What is happening in Nigeria has serious global consequences.
You can not do anything in Foreign Affairs if the guys on ground keeps pushing out pleasant narratives, the time to act is now.

Nigeria has almost contracted out her infrastructure to China to the extent that 50% of our recurrent expenditure go to them, our guys in Foreign affairs can bring this deal to china already looking for a launch pad to protect her vast interest in Africa, this could be the deal China is waiting for, by limiting it to a task force, CAATSA provisions will not be violated & Nigeria's interest in the SC protected.

This proposal will have serious political consequence no doubt but I bet it's nothing compared to the political consequence of a UN arms embargo and western invasion. we must choose the less of both evil.

God bless Nigeria!!!

Major Gideon okar solution will solve this country problem by 50%, expel the whole North east and the North west including some states in the middle belt. Or total dissolution of this country.

The North west and North east will not let people consume beers in their region but will get money from VAT from states that allows people consume beers.

The North takes more than it gives to this country.

After voting the incompetence buhari, you will see them voting an incompetence atiku in 2023 grin

As for me I believe total dissolution will end the madness happening in this country. No aboki will bring his malnourished cows on my farmland and ruin it all in the name of being a Nigerian.
Does your state pay more VAT than Kano state or you think VAT applies to beer alone?

INTERNAL SECURITY: NAF GRADUATES 707 PERSONNEL FROM FORCE PROTECTION COURSE, TRAINS 2,872 IN 4 YEARS

The need for continuous capacity development to meet the evolving imperatives for specialist skillsets, such as Force Protection, required in the ongoing counterinsurgency and anti-armed banditry operations cannot be overemphasized. In line with these imperatives, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) today, 15 June 2019, graduated 707 Regiment and Air Police personnel trained in Force Protection in Complex Air-Ground Environment (FP-CAGE). In addition to the FP-CAGE Course 8/2019, the combined graduation ceremony, which took place at the Regiment Training Centre (RTC) Kaduna, also marked the completion of the Basic Regiment Officers’ Course 14/2019, Advanced Regiment Airmen’s Course 3/201 as well as the Basic Regiment Airmen’s Course 27/2019. The ceremony, which featured simulation demonstrations by the graduating students, brings the total number of personnel trained in FP-CAGE, since the NAF entered into partnership with the British Military Advisory Training Team (BMATT) in 2015, to 2,872.

Speaking during the graduation ceremony, the Guest of Honour, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, stated that the graduation marked another milestone in the progress made towards revitalizing the NAF Regiment and repositioning the Specialty to play its roles of Force Protection and security of NAF assets. He noted that the inclusion of some Air Police personnel in the FP-CAGE training was another initiative aimed at improving the security of bases and especially the personnel. The CAS further noted that the current security environment, with its attendant threats and challenges to NAF bases and infrastructure, had brought to the fore the need for the NAF to be able to not just project air power but also adequately ensure the protection of NAF air assets in furtherance of national security imperatives. According to him, “Our pragmatic approach to training has improved our capacity to secure our Bases as well as critical national assets and infrastructure while at the same time improving the capacity of the NAF to respond to national emergencies and crisis situations”.

While congratulating the graduands for the successful completion of the training programme, the CAS reminded them of the need to remain disciplined and vigilant, whilst always guarding their utterances and ensuring they avoid any acts capable of denting the image of the NAF. The CAS also charged them to abide by rules of engagement when deployed and submit themselves to civil authority as they would be operating at a time when the nation is facing numerous security challenges. He further urged the graduands to keep giving their best in the service of the Nation. “Always remember that your duty is to protect all Nigerians irrespective of their ethnic background or religious inclination”, he added.

Air Marshal Abubakar also expressed gratitude to the President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Muhammadu Buhari, for the priority attention given to the requirements of the NAF. The support provided by the Federal Government, he said, had positively impacted on the NAF especially in the areas of training, enhanced operational efficiency as well as improved provision of welfare and other services. He also commended the efforts of the Chief of Training and Operations Headquarters NAF and Director of Regiment as well as the Air Officer Commanding Ground Training Command (AOC GTC) and the Commandant and staff of RTC for their efforts towards ensuring that the aims for which the Centre was established were being achieved. While also commending the BMATT instructors for their dedication, hard work and commitment to the training package in the RTC, the CAS noted that the seamless execution of the force protection exercise demonstrations by the graduands were a testimony to the collaborative efforts and synergy that has been achieved in partnership with NAF instructors.

Earlier in his welcome remarks, the Commandant RTC, Wing Commander Kehinde Akinyosade, stated that the commendable achievements recorded by the RTC were made possible due to the unwavering support of the CAS and the commitment of the AOCs of GTC and the Air Training Command (ATC). He therefore expressed his profound gratitude and appreciation to the CAS for his keen interest in capacity development of NAF personnel, which, he said, had ensured an enabling environment for the timely, qualitative turn out of well-trained Regiment personnel.

As part of the ceremony, the graduating students conducted an exercise simulating the countering of an insurgent threat to the Base by an FPCAGE Team supported by an Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) platform. Another highlight of the graduation ceremony was the presentation of awards to students who distinguished themselves during the various courses. Dignitaries that graced the occasion included the Commandant Armed Forces Command and Staff College, AOCs ATC and GTC, Commander Nigerian Army Infantry Corp, Commanders of co-located NAF Units in Kaduna as well as other serving and retired senior officers.
